This condo is all about the ocean view. Fabulous.
Pool and barbecue are great also. Yes it is windy. All day, every day. Not that big of a deal for us.
Bathrooms were good. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was good. Washer/dryer was good. Unit is a little dated but not bad.
Now the bad. There is no A/C in the unit. The small window unit is useless in the living area and there is a note above it saying to not use it anyway. You can prop open the front door and the wind will blow through like a freight train to help cool off the living room. 2 bedrooms, one in front, one in back.
We used the one in front. The only window wouldn’t open so no air flow in there. Thank God for the ceiling fan, box fan, and small fan on each night stand. Even with those we still slept with no covers on. The ceiling fan light chain didn’t work and 2 of the 4 bulbs were missing. I had to unscrew and rescrew the 2 bulbs to turn them off and on. There was no place to plug our phones and my CPAP on the night stands. I had to buy an extension cord and move the bed to plug it in and then plug my stuff in.
There’s a window in line with the pillows. The blinds are fabric and useless. The first morning at 5:30am the whole room lights up from the sun. I had to hang a folded sheet to cover it.
To the owners, fix the ceiling fan/fans. They are cheap to buy. Put an alarm clock/USB/outlet on each nightstand. It’s 2023 for Gods sake and people want to plug in their phones and CPAPs.

The condo is outdated. Beds and living room furniture need to be updated, so uncomfortable! There is one A/C unit in the living room which pushes out very minimal air. And the rest of the unit is so stuffy it’s hard to breath when you try to sleep. Fans are provided which helped some! The pool was the best part of the condo, unless you have kids. The people seem stuck up, and lots of rules.

We always choose to stay on Maalaea because it is a central location and an easy starting point to wherever we want to go. This condo was very nice, clean and had a great view. We would definitely stay in this unit again.

We really enjoyed the location of this condo. Quiet and chill. We watched the whales from this unit each day we were there. Thanks for having binos in the unit! Maalaea is kind of central from all we wanted to see and do, as well as close proximity to the airport when it was time to leave. We could walk down and see turtles as well!

You pay what you get for so don't expect cleanliness and luxury and furniture of a 5 or even 4 star hotel. Here is the summary:
Pros: Great ocean view from the top floor
Cons: Old furniture - Lots of questionable stains on the sofas - Pillows and mattresses smells funky - Not that clean (sands in dryer and stains on the supposedly clean towels!)

We really liked the condo and its location. Beech is around the corner. The only issue is the AC situation, condo has 1 window unit in the living room and its hard for the cold air to reach the master bedroom so if you don't have it running all day it's hard to have cold air at night when needed.

The area is dry and dusty not green or lush not like other areas on Maui. Inadequate AC, old bed in master, and lots of deferred maintenance.

Great view and layout. Nicely updated and comfy beds. Was 88 every day for 2 weeks and didn't need ac once. Keep in mind it'll be breezy, extremely. Some of the beach equipment was pretty shot and only had 2 chairs for a 2 bedroom that was disappointing since we had 4 adults. But overall happy with the stay

This was a perfect fit for our visit. Traveling with an elder that doesn't do well with steps, and having an elevator was great. The view was fantastic and enjoyed watching the surfers. Nice to be centrally located between Kihei and Lahaina, but without all the crowds. We look forward to a return visit!

Our family chose Maui for a family vacation to celebrate Christmas and our recent retirements. The location of this condo is excellent. The 6th floor offers incredible views of the ocean and the whales! The condo was clean and supplied with the essentials. We would stay in this condo again!

The location is in a nice central location to be able to explore the island. Very little within walking distance of the condo as far as dining and shopping. It is a short walk to the Haycraft park with nice beach access. This is definitely the windiest part of the island but the lanai is situated to largely protect you from the wind and the wind made the air conditioner unnecessary in December. The other thing I haven't seen mentioned is that the condo is right under the flight path for the planes landing at the airport and can get loud at busy times of the day. The building is very dated but the condo is clean and well stocked. Overall it was a good experience!

Second time we've stayed at Island Sands. Love the location, quiet yet close to everything. Tante's Seafood Grill within walking distance is a great place to eat and drink. Unit was well equipped with beach gear, washer and dryer and kitchen supplies. Would definitely stay there again.

This condo is in a perfect location on the island. The unit was clean and as shown. The beds were comfortable and the view was lovely! Unfortunately the neighbors below were playing loud music most of the night on our first night. The second night was quiet.

Extremely clean property, unit and pool. The unit was very well maintained and stocked with any amenity you might need.
In case you're not familiar with this region, it is a windy location. It was actually nice in keeping you cool on the warmer days.
It was also nice to not have to pay additional fees for parking. Great stay!

This is a decent 2 bedroom with a good view of Ma'alaea Bay. It is a quiet area, not much in the way of shopping or nightlife. The Maui Ocean Centre, the harbour (for snorkeling tours etc) and a few restaurants are within walking distance.
This is our second year staying in the area. We like the central location which makes it easier to drive to Kapulua or Wailea or Paia or Hana or Haleakala or OGG. If you plan on doing a lot of exploration, this is the best spot, in our opinion. One of these days, we have to come in high season to watch whales in the Bay from the lanai.
The unit appears to have been updated and everything is still in good shape. The photos are accurate. The kitchen is well equipped. There seems to be an over supply of glasses for drinking and a good variety of spices for cooking. Mattresses are comfortable. Two bathrooms, but only one hairdryer. There are two beach chairs, two boogie boards, but no beach umbrella. We bought one from Costco and left it for the next time. Wifi works and the single flatscreen is large with both cable and streaming (once you figure out the remotes). The single window AC in the living room is noisy and fairly useless unless you sit beside it. Its only prupose is so the unit can be advertised with AC. But having stayed in Maalaea last year, we turned off the AC and just relied on the trade winds. With the windows open and the ceiling fans, we were comfortable even though temps were more than 30°C.
The pool and BBQ area is nice and clean and not busy in June. The grounds are neatly kept. There are turltles in the surf. The resident manager John is a very friendly.
