COMPLEX: Guests will have access to the Plantations communal pool and spa, as well as the fitness center. You will also find a community BBQ grill for guest use.

PARKING: Guests may park in any one of the many designated guest parking spots around the complex. Our unit has a garage however we ask that at this time you do not park in the garage. The garage is where you will find all your beach necessities.

Queens Bath – A natural lava pool about 1 mile from the condo. Parking is typically scarce so we recommend either walking from the condo or going early. Note: dangerous during high surf so check conditions before you go.

Snorkeling – On the North Shore our favorite spot is Tunnels, on the South Shore we recommend Po’ipu Beach Park.

Hiking – There are so many amazing hikes on Kaua’i, where do I even begin. Our top favorites are Kalalau trail to see the breathtaking Na Pali coast (keep in mind this is a very strenuous hike and hiking permits are required to hike beyond Hanakapi’ai valley), Sleeping Giant on the East Side of the island is a must, as is Waimea Canyon on the Westside of the island (note: some trails require 4WD vehicles).

Golfing – The Prince Course in Princeville is a must-do for avid golfers as this course is a top-rated course.

Sprouting Horn – A must-see on the South Shore.

Additional ways to explore: Via air – Helicopter tours are an amazing way to see the entire island, especially the Na Pali coast, we recommend Jack Harter Helicopters. Via sea – another great way to explore the island, we recommend one of Capt. Andy’s many boat tours.

Certainly, not an exhaustive list but our favorite spots on the North Shore are Tunnels, Anini (protected by a long reef, this beach is calm and perfect for the little Keiki), Hideaways, and Hanalei Pavilion (great for the whole Ohana). On the South Shore, we love Shipwreck (check out the Hyatt grounds while you are here, maybe even a drink at Captain’s Bar located in the upper pool area), Brennecke (often a great spot to see some Honu), and Po’ipu Beach Park.

A few of our favorite spots on the island –
The Spot North Shore – located just a couple miles from the condo offering amazing acai bowls, smoothies, and coffee.
Java Kai – located on the east side offering the best coffee perfect for breakfast or lunch.
Hanalei Poke – this is a food truck that is cash only, don’t be too deterred by the long line it’s worth the wait!
Wishing Well Shave Ice – our favorite shave ice spot, in addition, to shave ice they offer acai bowls and coffee.
Shrimp Station – there are a few located across the island and I admit I am not a fan of shrimp but their coconut shrimp is out of this world!
The Dolphin Restaurant – a great spot for sushi or any other seafood favorites.
Farmers Markets – a great way to explore native Hawaiian fruits and veggies, stop at any and all markets. I personally recommend trying apple bananas and rambutans!
Foodland – this is our local grocery store, just a couple miles away from the condo.

The Plantations has a strict no pet policy throughout the complex. For those who find themselves missing their fur babies or feeling a bit philanthropic consider checking out the Kauai Humane Society in Lihue. KHS loves visiting volunteers and even has a program where you can take a shelter dog on a field trip for the day! Keep in mind KHS is located in Lihue so perhaps incorporate this into a trip to the south shore which has loads of fun activities for you to explore.

Guest access - Guests fly into Lihue airport which is about a 45-minute drive to Princeville. You may want to stop at Costco while in Lihue and stock up on grocery items needed during your stay prior to driving north. Forgot something? Don't worry, we have a local grocery store within 2 miles of the condo that will cover your needs.

Prior to your arrival, you will be supplied with a 4-digit access code to enter the condo unit, that’s right - no keys to worry about and keep track of!

Interaction with guests - Our primary goal is for you to have a relaxing vacation that meets your needs! We are here for you should you have any questions and will be as involved with your stay as you would like. We have a great love for Kaua’i and are more than happy to share pro-tips from the best hiking shoes to which beaches are best for the Keiki in your party, our favorite shave ice spots, and beyond. Don’t hesitate to reach out! In fact, find us on Instagram and Facebook (LivingAlohaPrinceville) and tag us during your stay! Celebrating something special? Please let us know and how we can make this an extra special trip.
