My wife, daughter, and I had an exciting week in Hawaii planned. The check-in process was fine and informational and we were looking forward to our trip. As I was driving to the property I called the host and he was helpful and texted me the code so it was easy to access when I arrived at the property. As I was unpacking our car, my wife and daughter went into the property to get settled in. Upon entering the home, they found a 2-2.5" cockroach dead on the living room floor. Keep in mind that this was within two feet of the pullout sofa, where my daughter would be sleeping. I contacted the host and he told me that it was not common and that we should "let him know if we found any live cockroaches." I wish that was it. We found a second cockroach in the dining room and one cockroach and two insect traps in the kitchen. At this point, we are very unhappy and disappointed. I informed the host that we will not be staying at the property and would love it if he would be considerate and provide us with a refund or partial for that matter. I DID NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE TO THAT TEXT. We left the property, and found another STR about 10 mins away with ocean views and access to a beach for less money and no bugs!!!! If you don't mind a few cockroaches and a view of a parking lot and golf course in the distance I would recommend this property. For me, this property is not worth the stay and there are much better less expensive options in the area.

The positives are unit is close to the main pool and is on an upper floor. Its in the Kapalua resort and they offer free shuttle bus to the beach and to the Kapalua market and restaurants.
The negatives are the King mattress droops in the middle and is too soft. I think it's time to change it. The parking space is in a carport that is tight to get into.
Other than that the unit is nice and clean.

Great place, great location. Had everything we needed and in the middle of a more peaceful Kapalua. This unit is on a second level so be prepared to maneuver a set of outside stairs.

Our first time staying in Kapalua. Beautiful area and views were amazing. Kitchen, bathrooms and laundry very well stocked. Owners and manager went above and beyond to help us with receiving packages and addressing questions/issues. Would definitely recommend this rental and would stay here again!

This was my first time staying in Kapalua. The unit we stayed in was nice and had an amazing view from the balcony. No need to run to the beach for sunset. Just kick back and enjoy at the property. We only stayed for a couple nights so we didn't get to spend much time on property but the unit was clean and have chairs and towels for you to use. It is also right next to a community pool. Would recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at this nice condo with beautiful ocean views. Unit is close to pool and nicely equipped. Owner has thoughtfully provided beach chairs and other recreation equipment. The community is quiet and all Kapalua amenities were easily accessible by shuttle.

It was an "off" year visit to Maui for our family so we decided to stay in Kapalua rather than in Kaanapali. We'd heard good things about the Kapalua Golf Villas and it did not disappoint. Very happy with our stay and the location worked out great. Even got a cheaper round of golf at the Bay Course. Would be glad to go back!

Beautiful stay in Kapalua!
Loved our vacation here! The place was furnished with everything you need. The Honolua Store nearby has hot food, snacks & gifts for your convenience. There’s even a shuttle that will pick you up and drop you off in Kapalua, just give them a call.
The one thing that I would change is the bed. It killed my back, although I do have back problems. It has the impressions & indentations of where others have slept and is NOT comfortable at all. Time to get a new bed!
Overall, the place is just awesome and I would stay here again.
Every morning we would have breakfast on the lanai, see rainbows, listen to the birds and enjoy the spectacular view.

Being an avid golfer and my wife and I both love the ocean so this is one of the best spots you can find that combine both. There is literally enough going on around this place to make it where you really would never need to venture outside of the Kapalua area for anything.

After spending hours upon hours researching other VRBOs and resorts in the area - mostly beachfront - I chose this villa and am so glad I did. It’s clean, spacious, comfortable and quiet; removed from the hustle and bustle of the beach but close enough to walk there in minutes. Use of the Kapalua shuttle is included with this unit, which is a huge plus! It’ll take you anywhere you want to go within the Kapalua area, including beaches and restaurants. Honestly, if you planned to never leave the Kapalua/Napili area during your stay, you could forego a car rental and just Uber here from the airport and then use the shuttle to get around. It’s such a great amenity.
I couldn’t recommend this villa more highly and look forward to booking it again in the future! Super comfy bed, wonderful lanai, just 20 steps to a heated pool… seriously, it doesn’t get better then this!

Wonderful location, next to the large pool. Great balcony view of the ocean. Enjoyed the owner provided beach amenities…beach chairs, beach umbrella and boogie boards. Condo is in great condition. This is our second stay at this condo and we’ll be booking again!

Advertised as a one level condo. It did t say that there were 18 stairs to go up to get there! We’re 83 and had to hire a young man to get our 2 - 50 pound suitcases up and down! It was rated 5 stars - definitely only 3 1/2 at best! Carpet very stained. dining chairs all peeling (2 new and 2 old!). Sheets and bedding poor quality! Definitely not as nice as the last unit we stayed in. Rated “Gold Star” 5 stars on VRBO. For the price, very disappointed in the quality!

I normally stay on the water, and wanted to try something different. This unit had a perfect layout, was very clean, had beautiful views, and easily the best lanai I’ve ever used. Fantastic location. Try Sansei restaurant, it was fantastic.

A great top floor corner unit! My wife and I have stayed in others in this complex and this one was the best layout by far (despite one row of condos being between the unit and the golf course). Good communication and tip sheet from the owner - but I wouldn’t follow advice in the material to take the north road back from Kahului to the condo (south) sometime. If you try it, it’s best to take the road north to be on the inside of the cliffs and even better on a motorcycle (as I rented) versus a car. It’s too tight with no guardrails for 10 miles for 2-way traffic (and I’m adventurous)! Some parts seemed even more intense than the road to Hana.

From the moment we opened the door to the lovely Hawaiian music that was already set for us. It was a wonderful stay. Especially enjoyed the lanai from morning coffee to our evening wine. And lucky enough to have the proximity to the pool. We even enjoyed an evening dip alone. All amenities were available to us. A lovely unit.

This is a great property with a beautiful view! We saw quite of few rainbows off the large lani. This is located close to the pool which is very convenient.

Absolutely loved our stay. the landscape is exceptionally beautiful as are the views and the condo is peaceful . You can not hear your neighbors. The condo is well stocked with everything and anything one needs from cookery to plenty of space to sit in or on the lanai. Just loved it. Only feedback for improvement is with cleanliness. There was a tremendous amount of sand in the washer and the floor of the bathroom on our arrival. The stove top was not properly cleaned and some pots were stored but needed a good scrub.
We left the place cleaner than we got it and it is not hard to maintain so perhaps the cleaning crew responsible for making sure everything is in tip top for incoming renters did not do a good job.
the carpet needs replacing as it is quite worn and stained.
However that is minimal for the outstanding location and the peace we felt being in this condo that is on the top floor. Honestly our best stay in Hawaii and we have been 8 times at least. Hope to rent this unit again upon our return. Mahalo

The condo is in a nice area but don't trust that the maintenance people will do a good job cleaning it. When I arrived to the property there were blood stains on the bedsheet and pillow case of the only bed in the condo, so I had to sleep on the sofa. Maintenance took forever to arrive the next day, and after finding other cleaning issues I decided to leave. When she arrived, she lied to the property owner saying she couldn't find the blood stains despite me sending pictures to the owner. The bathroom was not cleaned and the dishes on the kitchen cabinets had dried food on them like they were just stored without been washed. Whoever cleans the property does a poor job.

This rental unit had a gorgeous view of an amazing tree line along with the ocean and islands in the background. So relaxing and peaceful with the birds and blooming trees in May! My wife and I loved the location better than anywhere else on the island. The condo itself was spacious and well appointed. Checkin was simple with emailed directions and no need to check in at an office. Just show up and use the codes provided. This will be our preferred destination if we ever make it back to Maui! Perfect in all ways.

It was our second stay in this wonderful condo. Everything was perfect. The condo was well equipped,very clean and the view from the lanai is breathtaking.We liked to sit there and watch the breaching whales. The heated Pool is only steps away. Almost every morning we went walking on the coastal trail and looked for whales.
Mark is the perfect host, very helpful. We had a nice talking together on the phone. We enjoied the ten days and felt very sorry to leave it. We would be pleased to come a third time, but unfortunately the journey from Switzerland is very long. Mahalo Mark.

Well once again we returned to this amazing Kapalua villa for the 3rd time, we knew what to expect and of course we were not disappointed. Mark is very responsive and great to deal with, even if something comes up, he's all over it. Forget about the huge overpriced resorts...this is the perfect & relaxing Maui experience. A few world class beaches are just minutes away, even walking distance if you like. Kapalua is a wonderful, peaceful resort...a bit of paradise. Thanks again Mark!

Just returned after 6 wonderful nights staying at this condo. It served us well by providing the perfect place to relax and enjoy all that West Maui has to offer. We were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it is there throughout the day and evening. Yes, you do hear the golf course maintenance crew, but, that is to be expected. The condo itself was very clean and well maintained. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed using the beach chairs and towels. The pool and bbq are very convenient. Mark was easy to work with and very responsive to questions. We would highly recommend this condo.

What a wonderful anniversary getaway to Maui in Mark and Marilyn's villa!
1. The view is incredible. We could hear the waves crash and watch whales from the lanai!
2. After hiking or going on whale watching trips in the morning, the pool (steps away) is a refreshing and relaxing treat.
3. As others have mentioned, the attention to detail that has gone into preparing this villa is great. We did not want for anything at all. It was a real treat to arrive after a long flight and feel perfectly at home, immediately.
4. Mark's communication in advance was a huge help and completely accurate.

The condo is beautifully decorated. It has one bedroom and two bathrooms. One with laundry.
Kapalua is where you want to be on Maui. The amenities include a shuttle bus
to get you to all of the great locations--excellent restaurants, a tennis complex, a beautiful golf course and the best beach in the world. The free shuttle facilitates walkers who enjoy the downhill walk, but like a ride up. This condo is walking distance to two swimming pools (one just out the front door) and the club house for golf.

We just arrived back home after 9 wonderful days in Mark and Marilyn's condo - EVERYTHING is perfect and just as advertised! A few things about us: we are both 60, fit and uber active; we've been to Kapalua a number of times and are on Maui at least once a year; we travel extensively and have seen the good and bad of VRBO and similar sites; we are remarkably picky as to details. With that, a few salient comments about Mark and this condo:
1. Advance communications and arrangements were spot on.
2. The condo was spotless and outfitted better than any other condo, flat, house that we've let. (We always start our day with a fruit/veggie smoothie and the blender performed great!)
3. The furnishings were lovely, new(er) and comfortable. The king bed was "mama bear" perfect - neither too hard nor too soft.
4. Everything worked - great A/C when needed, a wonderful shower and water pressure, a washer/dryer that we used every other day.
5. There are 2 pools close by - we used both. The closest is maybe 100' away which is pretty cool for a quick dip or using the BBQ's (which we did twice).
6. We used daily the 2 beach chairs and the boogie boards provided with the condo - THANK YOU!
7. The pictures presented are the real deal and honestly might be a little understated if anything (we have experienced/been victims of the art of creative photo taking.....)
Bottom line: we'd go back in a New York minute! We love Kapalua. Our routine - and we've got it down pat - is for morning runs/walks around the property and along the ocean, hit one of the great beaches to read, swim and play (our fav is actually a little north of Kapalua but Kapalua Bay, Oneloa Bay and DT Fleming are all great), have lunch in the condo, go back out to play in the afternoon and then either stay local for dinner or head to Lahaina (we went to Lahaina Grill twice this trip - it was just ranked #13 in the US for restaurants). We've stayed in Kaanapali and Wailea a bunch of times and they are fine/nice but WAY too touristy for us.

This condo is beautiful and just what we were expecting for our Maui vacation. The listing description and pictures are accurate. Mark is very helpful in regards to answering questions and providing recommendations during your stay. The condo was extremely clean and well maintained. The condo is within close proximity of some great beaches for snorkeling and hanging out (which we did a lot of). The grounds of Kapalua Golf Villas are also well maintained. The pool areas were enjoyable and there are grills available for cooking. We would definitely recommend this condo to anyone who is looking for a relaxing place to stay in Kapalua.

If the review was based off the unit alone, it would warrant 6 stars. I will start with the pros of the unit. The lanai is amazing and the view of the island of Lanai combined with the unforgettable sunsets makes this place a must visit. The condo is beautifully updated with top end finishes and a bed that makes it hard to get up in the morning. Being right next to the pool makes a swim at any time of day an option and being a 15 minute walk to a few coves makes this location ideal. The area is very quiet with many good restaurants nearby and within walking distance. I would highly recommend the Pineapple Grill and Sansei. Two places you will not forget. Sansei can get packed very early on the weekends so arrive before 5 (Happy Hour at 5:15) and enjoy. If you venture to the Pineapple Grill, get the Ahi Eggs Benedict for breakfast or the delectable warm Pineapple Upside Down Cake.
Now for the cons and why I can only give this 3 stars. We had the unfortunate timing of being in the unit while construction was going on. This literally meant people were painting on the lanai and installing tile for the roof the entire stay of our trip (6 days). Although we could enjoy breakfast and sunsets on the lanai, we could not enjoy the amazing condo throughout the day; which is what we came for. There were constantly tractors and saws running and there were people about the whole unit which took away from the ideal location and views. It forced us to be outside, which wasn't the worst thing in the world, but it took away from lounging time around the pool and condo. Take away the hazardous construction, this place would easily get a top notch review in my book. Also, be prepared that it is a drive to get to anything that you want to do (Waihe'e Ridge Trail, Haleakala, Hana, etc.) as it is in the upper west side of Maui. The Beach Trail hike/walk was pleasant to do as we stumbled upon turtles a few times.
Overall the experience was still pleasant and I would recommend this place to everyone. We unfortunately had to deal with the construction but all that aside, the place is out of this world. Owners were very nice and understanding and took care of us and they were pleasant to deal with. Great condo with golf, ocean, and Lanai views.

My parents stayed in this condo and loved it...and now I know why! The unit is very clean, elegant, beautiful and bright. It is definitely one of the best of the Golf Villas, it's location is just perfect. If you chose a villa higher up you get further away from the ocean and if you go lower you won't have the sweeping ocean view. Owner is right, the thumbnail does not do the view justice! It is also located next to the pool, very convenient! Corner unit, which is great for privacy. It is really very well kept, you get the feeling that it is cherished by the owner and this makes a lot of difference in a rental! Fully stocked kitchen, great appliances, very comfy bed too! Kapalua is great for people who enjoy the peace and quiet but still like to be able to drive to the hustle and bustle of Lahaina in just 15 minutes. Will definitely stay there again, thank you for sharing your condo with us!
