Overall, it was a very nice stay. As we arrived, however, the parking space # we were given didn’t exist and the lock box code was inaccurate as well. Luckily, we ran into the owner early on during arrival and he got us the right details. One other concern was that there was food left in the frigerator. Ie milk, cheese, Mayo, etc.

Great studio apartment for those wishing to explore the northern coast of the island. Hanalei Bay is just a couple miles away, lots of good trails nearby, hideaways beach is a pleasant walk (or drive - there's a parking lot next to the beach) down kahaku road. The host is great, very responsive and helpful. The unit is stocked with all the beach amenities (chairs, coolers, etc) which is an extra plus. The complex is quiet. The unit has a full kitchen and a reserved parking spot. It's a great package!

This is a decent place and was as advertised. Nice location within walking distance (and a beautiful walk) to shops and food. We didn't love the outdoor kitchenette, it was annoying to bring dishes back inside and wash them in the bathroom sink, and it was annoying to only be able to use one appliance at a time. The air conditioning was pretty loud and took a long time to cook down the apartment but it did eventually get to a nice temperature. Some of the dishes were already dirty when we got there and we did see quite a few bugs our last day there. They were scheduled to spray for roaches one of the days we were there but I expressed concern to the owner and they did not spray our room - I found it very strange that they would schedule to spray pesticides while we were scheduled 6 months in advance to be there.
Overall, for the price this is just fine, but recognize that it is a budget listing. We had a wonderful time in Kauai and didn't spend a lot of time here, but it just wasn't a great place to stay. I also could do without the sticky note rules/instructions everywhere, you can just write a list of rules in one place and trust people to follow them.

IT WAS OK BUT BLINDS WERE BROKEN AND NEEDED NEW ONES BY SLIDING DOOR. AC WAS ADVERTISED YET PROPERTY OWNER WAS ADAMENT WE NOT USE IT WHEN WERE NOT THERE. I THINK HE CAME IN OUR UNIT TO CHECK. NOT PART OF AGREEMENT. IT GOT HUMID IN UNIT WHEN NOT ON.. EXTESION CORD WAS VISIBLE WHERE MOLDING WAS PROKEN ON PORCH BY SLIDING DOOR. NOW HE IS HOUNDING ME ABOUT TOWEL THAT WERE ALL LEFT THERE AND IN GOOD SHAPE. CLAIMING WE SWITCHED THEM. I REALLY DONT NEED HIS TOWELS. HAD NOTES AROUND ROOM ABOUT NOT USING TOO MANY APPLIANCES AT SAME TIME COULD BLOW BREAKER. AT LEAST WE ONLY REALLY COOKED BREAKFAST IN THERE.

This was an ideal location for exploring the north and east shores. On return to airport we had time so we went past the airport to a State Park with the double wayerfalls. A must stop is at Dukes at the Marriott which is two minutes from the Lilue Airport. Grand time was had by all.

Let me start with the dirty shower floor. My wife would shower with lights out. Blood stained sheets,old stained towels,one rouch crawling on my tv, posted notes everywhere,lives right next door and can hear everything. Parking and hot tub and pool were nice.

One aspect of Cameron’s home that we appreciated was access to wonderful beach equipment. We choose to leave our full face snorkels etc at home, but he had some very nice equipment here, including umbrellas and chairs, cooler, etc. Wonderful to not have to pack all those things!

West is a great host and has made every effort to add to the accommodations, making a cooking area on the patio. The downside of this unit is that it is a very busy property with little sound proofing. Car alarms were going off constantly. The unit has it's own parking space and we didn't have a problem but know that other guests did. It is very convenient to Princeville and just a short drive in Hanalei.

Cons (it's going to be long and detailed!):
1. The apartment is filled with roaches of different sizes! I messaged West when we saw the roaches letting her know of the issue. Although roaches is the last thing anyone wants on a vacation, we understood that we couldn't do much because we didn't have time and energy to spend on that. But the thing that bothered us is the response from West. I expected her to apologize for it and maybe try to find a solution. Instead, she messages saying she had free access to the studio for the last 2 days and there wasn't a single roach! She wanted to come and inspect the studio. I am thinking, why can't she believe me when I say there are roaches and try to find a solution to the issue. Next day morning I captured (in 3-4 minutes) and sent ~10 photos of roaches. No reply from her. Only after messaging a few more times does she reply at night saying "I saw the little roach" and she can put poison if we would like. It not clear if she entered the studio without our permission or she was saying that based on the photos. We said poisoning doesn't matter to us at that point because we were checking out soon. Also, she didn't apologies or anything till this point. Only after a few more back and forth messages she apologizes although it felt she hated every second of that!
2. The studio is filled with instructions everywhere. I understand we are staying at her house, but it's a bit excessive, making everything stressful.
3. She asks us to put all food-waste into a sandwich sized ziplock! That's so difficult. We got food to-go a couple of times and obviously the waste wouldn't fit in that small ziplocks. We had to go to a nearby gas station to throw the waste! Again, stressful things that noone wants on a vacation.
4. Wi-Fi signal isn't great. I just used my phone data the majority of the time. I could have reached out to her about this. But I didn't feel like reaching out to her based on our previous interactions. I didn't expect anything productive to come out of it.
Overall, the studio is not ideal till roaches are cleared. Also, interactions with West and the rules make everything more stressful. If you check the previous reviews, you will realize that she gets super defensive about any negative feedback. I expect the same with my review too.

It was nice to have a reserved parking space in the crowded parking lot.
There were bugs. We moved all the trash out on the lanai and it was better, but we didn't cook or have food in the unit. The bedding and furnishings were good.

For the Princeville area the property was a little aged. Being right on the corner of two main streets there was more traffic noise than I would normally hear in Princeville.. I have to say the outdoor kitchenette was a little unexpected.

This was a nice little studio apartment in a quiet neighborhood. Comfortable and clean with easy parking. The air-conditioning was appreciated and the bed made for a good night's sleep! The kitchen set-up had everything needed for a basic meal and you really don't need more because there is excellent food nearby --- try a poke bowl from Foodland instead of buying groceries. Highly recommend this place if what you are looking for is a clean quiet place from which to explore the north coast of Kauai.

We enjoyed our stay at this property (for the most part) The price was right, the location was within good distance of everything on the north shore. The beach equipment was nice to have, kept us from getting wet multiple times at Hanalei Bay. Our only problems were the microwave, fridge, etc that is pictured to be on the inside is actually out on the patio. It was kind’ve a pain in the butt to go outside to cook, get a drink, etc. This property also asks that you turn off the a/c when you leave. We left it on due to my wife’s asthma and when we returned it had been turned off. The owners walked in while we were gone and turned it off. We returned to an extremely hot room. If you advertise a/c, please advertise that, if you will not allow us to leave it on.

This is an ideal place to stay if you and your spouse are looking for a home base while you go an explore this beautiful island. West was easy to communicate with and the checkin and checkout processes were very simple. We were also very happy to find that there were a lot of beach toys available to us when we arrived. We didn't have to rent a surf board, body boards, beach chairs, etc. because they were already provided for us. Which was amazing and saved us a lot of time and money. There were also multiple coolers that we used every day as we went exploring. I was really happy with our stay. It was exactly what my wife and I hoped it would be. Highly recommend.

This property is an absolute steal. West was awesome and we even had an opportunity to cross paths with him in the parking lot. The property is exactly as listed, if not better. The A/C blows cold and you have everything you need in the unit. Beach gear (chairs, umbrella, coolers, snorkel gear) is always a nice touch and appreciated. Was nice to come back in the evening and have a pool/hot tub to enjoy (also two nice clean grills to use if needed) and then go back to the room and watch a movie in the cool room! Right up the road from a Foodland, which is convenient and of course a short drive away from Hanalei, Haena State Park/Kalalau Trail and of course all of the amazing north shore beaches Kauai has to offer. Thank you to the Flato family for an amazing trip!

Price and location was great, host was very responsive at the beginning. Room was open when we arrived and we had no need to use the external locker box with an external key. However after checkout, host accused us in breaking the door lock, as well as the external key from the locker box we never even used. Upon checkout we just shut the door by turning a knob from the inside. He threatened us with charges for nothing, because his old lock has failed on our watch. Beware, as arguments with host can pop out of nothing. Would not come back to this property anymore, and we are locals.

This was the nicest rental we stayed in on the islands. It was SO quiet. No roosters and neighborhood noise at all. The outdoor kitchen on the lanai was fun. There were many amenities that we appreciated. The parking pass, extra door key, blender & kitchen supplies, beach supplies, and comfy towels. The host even did a load of laundry for us and it was washed and dried in record time- this was super helpful so we didn't have to spend a day of our vacation doing laundry. Eventhough we did not get to meet West personally he made the check in process seamless. The instructions were very clear and the location is perfect. The room is like your standard 4 star Hawaii hotel room, but at a 1/3 of the price. It is definitely worth it without breaking the bank, especially at a highly regarded location of Princeville. Thank you West for making it nice and cozy for my wife and I. When you are vacationing all you ask in accommodations is a clean room, nice bed to lay your head and a bathroom. Why? When your on vacation you spend most of your time out and about exploring. It's nice to get back to the room to kick of the slippah's, jump in a nice warm shower, and lay your head to do it again the next day.

We stayed in this VRBO property last week and I have to see this is AMAZING. Located in a very nice place in princeville and is close to the best beaches. The host provided everything that you could ask for at this property: Beach towels, utensils, even had snorkeling gear, boogie board and beach chairs (though we didn't have to use them). Unit is perfectly made for 2 people.
All instructions were clear and we met the host West and he is a very sweet and friendly gentleman. He also helped us get to the beach and saved a long walk for us.
I highly recommend staying here on your Kauai vacation.

We got what we wanted. It was true to the VRBO site. Kitchenette is suitable for coffee and light meals. We had friends close by, so larger meals and laundry were done there. It is located on a busy corner, so be prepared for some traffic noise but with windows and bathroom door closed, it does not interfere with your sleep, and my husband is a light sleeper. We did not meet the host even though he was next door. So You have your privacy. You need a car to visit the island, therefore parking in the complex at night is at a premium. So do not loose your parking pass, and should someone be in your parking spot at night, contact West as there is no street parking in Princeville.

The condo is located in Princeville in very nice neighborhood next to a golf course. Easy to get to all North Shore areas. Wes was very nice and made us feel at home. Nice to have him in unit next to us for questions on anything. We really enjoyed the area and community feel of area. Would definitely stay here if we ever would return to Kauai.

My husband and I are not ones to complain, yet alone write a review. With that being said since we had such a awful experience we feel the need to share with others. We knew with the pricing as it was that it would not be anything fancy. We did expect it to be clean and following safe Covid Protcals as well as having the amenities that they advertised.
The moment that we entered the unit there was a stenchy moldy oder. We proceeded to notice health and safety issuses.
#1. At the so called kitchen sink/ bathroom sink there was a USED sponge scrubby that was provided for our stay.
#2. Shampoo, conditioner, soaps and disinfectants wipes were provided in large containers and shared with former guests. Again not following a safe Covid Protcol.
#3. There was red stains on the bed sheet as well as long black hair. Long black hair was also found in the food prep area, refrigerator and in their cooler.
#4. The coffee pot burner and toaster oven were both rusted out and filthy dirty. Sticky notes were left everywhere, one of them stating not to use more than two appliances at a time or it will trip the breaker.
#5. Bugs were in the silverware drawer. Limited plastic dishes were not clean .
#6 DIRTY walls.
#7. AMENITIES WERE NOT AS ADVERTISED !
There was no washer and dryer.
In their welcome booklet it states "Nearest laundry is Kapaa" ( about 30 minutes away)
WiFi spotty, No haidryer.
We checked in Thursday October 28 2021 at around 4pm and we checked out the next morning on Friday October 29th 2021 at 10am . We had reserved the rental until November 4th but checked out early because we did not feel at all comfortable. We texted and tried to call the owners multiple times asking for refund minus the night we stayed.... with no response.
We contacted VRBO and filed a complaint and provided pictures. A investigastion was opened and VRBO contacted the owner. The owner told VRBO that he cleaned the unit before we arrived. We were also told bye VRBO that he was opening a investigation on us.
This was a retirement trip for my husband celebrating 38 years of teaching. One the reasons that we selected this rental was that the owners were considered a Super Host.
Obviously booking with them turned out to be a disappointment!

The owner walked in on us at 7:50 AM, terrified my wife, and would not immediately leave. When we talked to him he said he was going to do it every day, whether or not we were there. The excuse given was to turn off the AC unit. The AC unit is too small and the owner wouldn't let us leave it on to keep the room cool. We only stayed 2 of 5 nights, and have not gotten any refund. So much for VRBO's "booking with confidence".

This studio had everything we needed to be comfortable and the location was great. The guide where they wrote thoughtful recommendations were helpful. Just a 15min walk to the shopping center or bus stop, short walks to various beaches in the area. We are happy that we've chosen to stay in Princeville, it was less crowded and such a relaxing low key environment. I recommend staying here instead of Poipu, which seemed very crowded and alot busier. And also a very short bus ride to Hanalei Bay! West is a delightful host who was very welcoming, thank you West :) We hope to come back soon

This was the perfect place to stay for our week long vacation in paradise. So close to Hanalei and Anini beach, plus great food in Kilauea. As mentioned by other reviewers, the place had everything we needed, including beach chairs and umbrellas and snorkeling gear! The air conditioning worked perfectly during the more humid afternoons and the place stayed cool all night without it. We highly recommend this place!! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We arrived wthout a car and were hungry. Wes offered to pick us up a pizza while he was walking his dog. We knew that we were in for a great stay. When he returned he gave us our change and a free bottle of wine. What a rockstar!
For Priceville, a bargain!! The grounds have gas bbqs, pool and jacuzzi. Wes provides snorkle gear, boogie boards. Beach chairs, umbrellas and even a surfboard stored on the lanai with a mini fridge, hotplate, coffee maker and other items.

Unfortunately I had issues with the owner which ruined my short experience in Kauai. I had booked this room through Expedia, but this is a HomeAway/Vrbo listing. Apparently Expedia is a parent company, and once I booked through Expedia, it auto books through HomeAway which I do not have an account with. So I never got emails regarding this booking other than my Expedia confirmation. I received no check-in instructions and had to call HomeAway & the owner directly to get them day of.
The next day, which was also my last day, I received a call from the owner to let my know I didn't the pay the full amount of the hotel. I was confused because I always pay the reservations upfront when I book. I told him I would deal with immediately. I took time away in the middle of my vacation to call the company to let them know the issue. Apparently, the reservation required to be paid in 2 installments which I did not realize & I never saw any emails about my second payment was due. HomeAway helped me set up so I can pay via credit card online. I was unable to do so because the owner had to approve payment. HomeAway attempted to call the owner & I even sent him a personal email. A few hours later, near the end of a super nice dinner, I get a call from the owner demanding I have to pay cash when i get back or I have to leave. I did not have cash & it would require me to find an ATM and pay a fee withdrawing that large amount. After he finally called Homeway he was able to sort it out.

This was a great place for us in terms of location, price, and simply just having a place to rest our heads after exploring the North Island during the day. The host, West, was very friendly and great with communication. It was a very easy check-in, parking situation, and access to the unit. The guide book was very cool and gave great information for not just north island, but information for anywhere on Kauai. We enjoyed the beach towels and snorkeling equipment. We would stay here again!

I was nicely surprised of the space in the room and outside patio they turned into a mini kitchen area . The bed could be bigger for two , but it was nice and clean all around . Except for outside Patio had cob webs and a huge spider . It would of also been nice if the Host that lived there would of said hello to us one of the 7 days we were there ... all in all a nice visit .

Perfect for two college kids. You can really tell that West goes out of his way to provide things that we hadn’t ever thought of. This cute little place had an awesome kitchen for quick breakfasts, perfect location for all of our plans across the island & is even less than 5 minutes away from a grocery store. Hope to be back again someday!

The studio apartment was perfect for us. It was very well equipped with beach chairs, etc. The owner, West, lives right next door so if we needed anything he would be available. The price is sooo reasonable and we would recommend this for a couple or single person. We really enjoyed our stay and beaches and hiking are all nearby.

Was a great place and had everything we needed! We loved the outdoor lanai/kitchen. We ate breakfast and had our coffee there every morning. The beach gear was also a great addition and was very useful!

Our 5 nights here at West’s studio apartment were wonderful! It was truly Comfortable and cozy and had everything one needs whether you want to go to the beach, spend time at the pool here, drive to sightsee., relax, or cook for yourself . There are coolers for day trips, beach towels, and beach toys. It rained every night but was sunny in the daytime! We were close to golf, shops, north shore sights, and restaurants! Best value for the price anywhere we feel and think! Thanks West!

Had a great time in Princeville. Great location in a nice complex. Clean, quiet, and comfortable as well as flexible. Easy check in and out. An update to the bathroom would make this a really top notch place. Overall a great stay!
