This is a great location for our stay for Ka’anapali golf! Everything is in walking distance that we needed even though we went each day to explore the island. The ease of the beach, pool and restaurants make this ideal for families! Doug is an exceptional host, you will want to stay here!

Everything about the Whaler was lovely as usual with one caveat. The pool was closed for half of our stay for cleaning of the pool deck. It clearly needed it but we were not informed of this prior to coming.

We had a fantastic stay at this condo. Everything was exactly as we had hoped for. The view is incredible and the location is perfect. Loved being on the 10th floor away from the people. All you need to bring here is sunscreen! The owner has it all set up so you can just come and relax. Highly recommend!!

We loved our stay in June at the condo! It was nicely decorated, had a great kitchen, comfortable bed, and an outstanding view. The grounds at The Whaler are beautiful, and the beach is fantastic. It was so peaceful sitting on the lanai, listening to the sounds of the fountains in the ponds and the waves crashing on the beach, as well as enjoying the view with the sailboats anchored off shore. The location is perfect as you have everything you need along the beach walk including shopping at Whalers Village and snorkeling at Black Rock! We definitely plan on staying here again.

I almost don’t want to share good info about the Whaler because it’s getting harder to book. Location is perfect. Views are amazing. Room was well done and very comfortable. Closet was FULL of chairs, noodles, boogie boards, mattress pads, cooler, and blankets-so everything extra you could want.

My husband and I had a wonderful, relaxing Maui visit in the lovely studio apartment of Doug and Cessna. We have visited Maui several times and always stayed in a hotel. For the past 6 years or so we have enjoyed renting through VRBO wherever we go and wanted to see what Maui could offer. After doing our due diligence, we selected Doug and Cessna’s place. While we loved everything we read and saw, we were a bit concerned about the size of the property and being in a high rise. A few minutes inside and our worries disappeared.. The balcony was a perfect place to spend time with a fabulous view of the ocean and enjoying the sound of the waves. In the evening you can catch unprecedented sunsets. The apartment is efficiently designed with all the modern conveniences you could want.
You could walk either direction from your “home” and find excellent restaurants. Downtown is fun and vibrant and only a short drive away. But you will not need to worry because Doug and Cessna will leave you complete and thorough instructions on anything you care to ask. And if you think of something, just reach out to them and they will respond immediately. I’ve still not completely recovered from the trip and I am ready to go back. You will be happy you chose to stay here. Oh, P.S. I always want to know about the comfort of the beds! It was wonderful!! L & L from Austin

We have been coming to the Whaler properties for 30 years. Have stayed else where on Maui as well but not as well situated as this little location. Never been disappointed. This studio was very nice, updated and nicely appointed. It had one beach chair that was nice the other was old , rusty and small. It would have been nice to have a beach umbrella as well.
To rent these items on site was 90 a day. For the room costing 600 + dollars a day with VRBO charges, taxes and resort fees, Nice chairs and umbrella should be included in the room. Other than that we throughly enjoyed our stayed.

Doug and Cessna provided a unit that exceeded our expectations. Unit was spotless and is the perfect location for all your beach, pool and restaurant needs. View of Lanai with sunsets was exactly what we expected. Condo grounds and pool area was spectacular in view and cleanliness. Less than 5 minute walk to Whalers Village to find any and all amenities couldn’t have been more convenient. Fitness facility was very clean and provided great equipment versatility for our daily workouts. Would definitely recommend this unit and look forward to out next visit.

Of course, the location is amazing and convenient to Whalers Village. The overall property is extremely well run. We were afraid the pool would be too small to be comfortable but it was great! The individual unit was awesome. Updated, clean, lots of beach toys. Great view from balcony.

Overall, I thought the property was very nice, but honestly over-priced. The unit is very small compared to other places, but it works out ok for two people. This particular unit has a southern exposure (looking out towards Lanai) which means that the sun is always on the deck and can be quite warm A much, much better choice is a room which has a northern exposure (looking out towards Molokai.) Finally, we had problems with parking. The property is supposed to have free underground parking … which it does … but spaces are really available. For the most of our stay, we had to park a short walk away. The pool is nice, but is always very crowded.

First, the location of The Whaler In Kaanapali is perfect - everything is close. We chose not to rent a car and didn’t regret it. Also loved the condo. It is as advertised - what you see is what you get. We will definitely be looking to book the property again.

We were very happy with this condo. It’s very clean, has an ocean view, (Your straight on view is of the other tower. But if you sit outside, one person gets a nice view) near the elevators but didn’t hear any noise. The furniture and everything is nice and updated. It’s sort of like a hotel with check in, and a pool/beach towel exchange. There are plenty of appliances, but it’s not stocked with spices or cooking oil like most VRBOs, not even salt and pepper. We did our grocery shopping before checkin in, so that was pretty inconvenient. The ABC store sells a tiny bottle of oil for $7! Ouch. The goggles were broken. The fins fit me, I’m a womens size 8. There is some very convenient underground parking, but it fills up fast and if you drive to dinner you will most likely have to park outside a little ways away. There is also a $25 a day resort fee that you pay to the whaler when you check out. It was still 5 stars in my opinion and worth all the minor inconveniences, because it was clean and in a great location.

The location was perfect! Next door to Whalers Village which we love! The condo itself was impeccable but my only gripe would be the mattress. It was rather stiff. I prefer a softer mattress but that’s just me! Everything else was perfect! The view was amazing and the staff at the resort was so friendly. We truly enjoyed our stay!

1015 is a perfect location within the Whaler Condos. The unit is right next to the elevator and free laundry.
We really enjoyed the view from the lanai - I saw breaching whales and started my day watching the waves on the empty beach at 0615.
Doug was very helpful- we had an issue with check-in which he helped remedy right away.
We would highly recommend this unit and we will be back.

Great location in the most touristy area of the island. Beautiful views. Condo has all the amenities needed, it was a nice detail to have a small ice box and beach chairs to use. The only suggestion I can give is to provide some tumblers or close lid cups we can take to the beach.

It felt like semi-resort as you check in at front desk, tennis court w raquet + ball rentals, pool access by the beach, unlimited beach towels, gym, built in AC w fast WiFI, and if you have late red-eye flight like we did, you could stay on the property and still use all the amenities (including shower in fitness shower) even after you check out that day! - yes there's $25/night additional fee but it's quite worth it imo for all the benefits and quick access you'll get to the beach

My wife and I go to Maui almost every year but this was the first time staying at this place and we would definitely come back. Great layout for a couple. Amazing location next to Whalers Village makes everything so convenient.
The best part for us were the hosts who made sure everything turned out great, we were even lucky enough to briefly meet them.

The property was exactly as outlined. As others have commented, the pictures do not do the condo justice. The location is perfect and the view from the lanai was something that never got old during our stay. I was impressed with the condition of the condo and will definitely visit again.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful condo! It felt large for a studio and the views of the mountains and the ocean from the unit were amazing. The place was very clean and fully equipped with everyone we needed…the cooler and beach chairs were an added bonus! This property was in a perfect location, a five minute walk to Whalers Village and a ten minute Uber/bus ride to downtown Lahaina. Even though it’s close to many restaurants and shops, the beach never felt crowded. We hope to come back and visit in the future!

We had a great vacation! this unit was very quiet, clean & comfortable. Although restaurants are very close by, we used the bbq and ate in most nights. The kitchen is equipped with most everything you’ll need (except rice cooker). I love that the pool is gated, and right next to the beach. Doug and Cessna are great with answering any questions! From the moment we opened the door we knew we made the right decision in booking this awesome studio. There’s is plenty of room and the kitchen has all of the appliances and cooking utensils one could need. There were plenty of towels for our 5 night stay and even a cooler and snorkel gear! There is a great view of the ocean and impeccably manicured grounds below.
This is the perfect place for a week long getaway in Maui.

We had a great stay in 1015 , the area was busy , but at the resort it was nice and quite, the staff at the resort were great. They have invested alot in keeping the building and grounds up . All you could here at night were the waves crashing on the beach, hope to stay there again

We arrived for a 4 night stay. The Whaler is right on the beach, shopping mall next door with restaurants and a food court. Great location. Great view of the ocean , courtyard and west Maui mountains. The Cannery Mall is a good place to shop for food. You can get a free Safeway card at Safeway and the prices are greatly discounted. Aloha Mixed Plate is very good if you just want a casual restaurant. It is located right behind the Cannery Mall. Milagros in Pi-ia is great if you like Mexican. Kimo's downtown Lahaina is right on Front Street and on the ocean. Hula Pie coupon is on your receipt. Free hula pie if you bring it back on your next visit. Everyone raves about Mama's fish house on the way to Hana. Lunch is more reasonable then dinner. The surfers are on the way to Hana. We eat casual. Lots of restaurants on Front Street in Lahaina. Kula Lodge is on the way up to Haleakala Crater. No food or gas past there. There is a very nice shop next to the lodge. Lots of nice items, not like all the shops of Front Street in Lahaina. We drive up to the top of Haleakala every year. It's never the same. Do stop at the visitor center on the way up. Small souvenir shop and park rangers if you need hiking info. The drive up to Kapalua is pretty and the golf area is beautiful. Lots of low rise condos. Maui is our favorite island. Whale watching and snorkeling are great for ocean activities. You may just choose the beach.

My wife and I have stayed at the Whaler several times now. This is the first time we have stayed in the single room layout. First it is a lovely place and very well kept. The view from the balcony is beautiful with a great sunset over Lani every evening. The kitchen is well setup and has all the expected items. Everything in the kitchen works and if you like K-Cups for coffee you can choose between them or the Mr Coffee style maker. Really this kitchen has it all. The bathroom is small but nice and the shower works well. There is only one sink but plenty of counter space for toiletries. Closet space for clothes and luggage is good.
The single room layout has its drawbacks. The kitchen, the bathroom, the dining room, sitting area, bedroom are all in one room. So by no fault of the owner it's just a bit cramped.
Only two negatives exist for this unit.
1. I think it is time for a mattress upgrade. On vacation I really love my sleep and a really comfortable bed is one of the most important things every location needs in my opinion. I will agree that comfort when it comes to a bed can be subjective though.
2. Hair blow dryer. In today's world women really appreciate a good blow dryer in any vacation spot. The blow dryer in this unit was very subpar according to my wife.
In closing...It is a great location. The Whaler is a lovely property. The people are all nice and helpful. Yes the amenities or the facilities may be a little older style (but they are very well kept) I love the place.
PS... Be sure to use the spa. They give you an excellent massage at a very reasonable rate.

We have stayed in this condo before and it was just as before - our home away from home. Everything you could want for a relaxing holiday is available and up to date facilities make it very comfortable. The bed is really comfortable which is a big bonus for us.
