Pool was perfect for our 8 year old. Across the street is some of the most incredible snorkeling I've ever seen. 15m drive from Kona. 2hr drive from Volcanos national Park. Clean and comfortable and spacious. And there's a parking lot. Basically the perfect place.

Lovely condo on a lovely property. Well managed. Beautiful sunsets from the garden level lanai.
If you love snorkeling, stay here as it’s only a 3 min walk to Kahaluu Bay.

This is a great place to stay. The owners are very helpful and accommodating. Myself and 5 of my friends stayed here. There was plenty of space. Parking was simple and having the beach across the street was perfect. We also loved the market that is close by and the pool area is amazing! I would highly recommend staying here.

Our family had a great time staying in the surf shack. It couldn't be closer to the beach and all the amazing ocean activities and snorkeling. We were amazed at how much ocean life we could experience directly across the street at kahaluu bay.
We had a rental car but walked a lot to just enjoy the ocean views — we walked to magic sands (about one mile) for great days in the waves and sand and good lunches! Loved the restaurant too.
Highly recommend the manta dive (there is a great one close by out of the outrigger hotel). The mantas are so huge and the kids loved it too.
We also loved driving to mains Lea beach and lava lava to see more of the island. To offset the restaurant expenses, We hit the Costco on the way from airport to condo and had lunches and snacks and also enjoyed many breakfasts on the lanai and a glass of wine each sunset— the sunsets were beautiful and visible ever evening from the lanai. I'm a cook and had everything I needed to prep and cook for 6. Lots of dishes and new pans.
We were gone for most of the days but the kids and family enjoyed the evenings in the pool overlooking the ocean and sunsets as well.
Wonderful decor and charming space.

We totally enjoyed our time at the condo. The location was perfect, and the sunsets from the lanai were amazing. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need. There were two beach chairs (it would have been nice to have more) and two boogie boards as well as noodles and towels for the pool. We did have to rent more beach chairs and a beach umbrella. The only minor "faults" were that it would have been nice to have additional bed pillows (some were a bit flat and some of us are used to sleeping with more than one pillow), it would also have been nice to have bath mats/rugs so we did not have to "sacrifice" bath towels to keep from slipping on the tile floors. The walls and floors are a bit "thin", you do hear the neighbors quite a lot. Overall it was a great condo, well kept, clean and great location!

We absolutely ❤️ loved our stay at the surf and swim shack. The home is cute, comfy and clean, great updated decor, also has easy to access to the pool out back plus the best snorkel beach in kona across the street. We agreed this is the easiest and most adventurous vacation we've had. Everything is right here and the beaches are unlike any we've experienced.
Our highlights were the kids (10, 11, 12) being able to try surfing lessons right here, experiencing an incredible in the water sea turtle sighting and fish first hand 🐠, the crystal clear blue water and fun waves, and being able to walk back home to grill and enjoy the kitchen and lanai with amazing view of the kona sunset each evening while we were unwinding. We also loved magic sands down the street.
We'll definitely be back. 🤙

She loved swimming in the pool too. The king sized bed was very firm but the queen sized bed was softer to sleep on. Nice views too! We loved exploring the big island from here.

The location was pretty good, close to a great snorkeling area. But that reef can be dangerous, we saw lots of people with cuts and wounds on their legs. The condo itself was clean and nice. The Lanai was great for morning eats, and it had a great view. The kitchen is packed with essentials, it’s just what you would expect in a vacation rental. The place is rock solid for 4-6 people. Parking was plentiful and easy.
Things we were less than impressed with.. The floor wasn’t clean, our feet were gross within minutes just walking around inside. After a showers with kids we tried to dry the floor with the towels, and they came back quite gross. There was lipstick on a few of the dishes and cups. Nobody had washed the coffee maker in ages, pretty nasty inside. I wish there wasn’t a lock on the fence/gate blocking the ADA access. Super annoying to carry our buddy and his wheelchair, and our kid and the stroller up and around and down the stairs if we didn’t bring the key to the pool and gate. Seriously, why lock it? It doesn’t add any security when you can just take the scenic route. And I wish they mentioned that they were planning on painting the building a bit sooner. If I’m paying the cleaning fee, I’d expect it to be a lot cleaner.

This condo was wonderful. A nice three bedroom with Lanai to sit at and look at the beach and sunsets. The beach across the street has really good snorkeling right when you get into the water. One of the best on the island. Nice and quiet and you can hear the waves at night. AC works good. There were a lot of helpful items for visiting the beach (snorkel gear, beach chairs, towels, ice chests, sand toys, etc). Right down the street from a good marketplace with restaurants. Good location to everything.

The location was great. Unit has everything you could need for a family ( high chair / pack n play / pool gear for infants and kids/ floaties and life jackets/ snorkel gear for children and adults/ beach gear / cooler / etc. Well stocked kitchen with all the appliances and good pans. Beds were ok but cotton sheets would make it better since memory foam runs hot. The few complaints I have I fixed myself and I would stay here again. The unit is outdated and dark but the beauty of the beach and sunset across the street made everything better.

Reservations were easy to make and communication was easy throughout the process. Upon arrival, it was simple to locate. Plenty of parking at all times. Just down a set of steps to the entry, which is keyless. The keyless entry was a huge bonus, as our older kids could come and go as they pleased without trying to keep track of a key. Also, if we wanted to skibble across the street for a snorkel we didn't need a key - just our mask and snorkel. The outdoor shower was very close to the unit for convenient rinsing off. Now back to the unit. It was clean and easy to keep clean with a great layout for us. Floors were all tile and could be swept quickly. There was some decor, but it wasn't in the way. All the appliances were functional and we especially loved the blender for making smoothies with fresh pineapple & other local ingredients. I loved the coffee bean grinder & maker for that Kona coffee! We all slept well and thought the beds were very comfortable. We heard a little quiet normal noise from other units on a couple occasions, but it wasn't disturbing. (We probably were the disturbers!) Showers both had great pressure and didn't change temperature while running. Showers were big enough to wash a couple kids at once. Kids! They were thrilled with sand toys and pool noodles! There are also mask/snorkel sets, which are a huge bonus. Our 5-year-old had her own set and Kahaluu was a perfect spot for her to snorkel safely, as it's very protected. We chose this location in hopes everyone would enjoy it, and we did! The snorkeling was excellent - we saw nearly all the same critters at Kahaluu as we did at other spots around the island. Kahaluu beach always felt safe and was never too crowded. Every morning groundskeepers tidied up and there were lifeguards most days. We could walk up the hill (maybe 1/3 mile) to shop (grocery, drugstore, bookstore, etc.) for necessities. There is a lane for walking along Alii Drive, and Alii itself isn't as busy as I thought it would be. It's easy to cross to get to Kahaluu and takes about 1 minute from the condo! The condo area always felt safe and clean too and had fun flora and fauna. Blooming flowers, grinning geckos, and palms galore. We didn't use the pool much, but it looked clean. When we arrived we realized we would need A/C after all; we phoned Britt, and she got us cooling off in minutes. Anytime we contacted Britt or James, we received a response very quickly.

Our stay, as a group of three couples, in James and Hee's home was wonderful. Located centrally in the Kailua-Kona area, it was a perfect spot to start each day and venture out. The rooms were clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The pool was clean and had an amazing view, as did the hot tub. We grilled out one night, and ate out in the lanai each evening. James was immediately receptive and accommodating to our needs, and answered any questions we might have had. We followed his suggestions for things to do, and were thrilled with the various adventures. Hang Loose Boat tours is a MUST! Should we find ourselves on the Big Island again, we would most definitely choose to stay in James and Hee's home again. Mahalo!

The property is well taken care of and very nicely furnished with every thing you might need. I came with my 3 grown up daughters and we all had a great time. The location is wonderful and the view will be in my memory for a long time. We sat on the lanai mornings and evenings enjoying our coffee with the view. We had a fabulous 5 days in this very comfortable apartment. Plenty of space for the 5 of us. Location is perfect - right across the road from one of the best snorkelling beaches in the area. Plenty of marine life including turtles. Snorkels, masks and reef shoes all provided. Spacious bedrooms, huge bathrooms, shops just up the road. This unit had everything we wanted. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Our kids loved the pool and kids' gear, and the owners really went out of their way to make sure we had a great trip. If you're traveling with young kids, this place is your best bet. I almost don’t want anyone to know what a great place this is, as I am already trying to figure out a way to come back and hope it is not booked up !
But since the owners were SO nice I feel compelled to be honest. First off the home looks exactly like it did in the photos, which is nice. Truth in advertising, what a concept. It was very clean and well maintained, with comfortable beds and nice linens.
Our family ranged in age from 7 to 85, and all felt comfortable. The condo was stocked with everything you would need, such as snorkel gear, water shoes, boogie boards, coolers for beach and beach towels. Meaning that you do not have to buy or rent any of this equipment while you are here, an added bonus. So upon arrival you are stocked up ready to go. A great view, great location, central to everything yet still just far enough away to avoid huge traffic and tourist. The unit has a lovely view and is very quiet.
Honestly it felt like we were home.
But for me the best part of this home was the service from the on site manager and the owners. When we arrived, after several hours we realized the air conditioner was not working. I contacted the on site Manager, Britt, and she was so kind, apologetic and immediately worked towards resolving the issue. She was even able to get an air conditioning repair person out on Labor Day! We understand, things break, it happens, it is no one’s fault; but it is how issues are handled that makes or breaks the vacation. If it had taken all week to repair or the owners did not care, we would have been miserable. A vacation we planned and saved a year for could have been ruined. I really felt like the owners (who also contacted me to make sure we were taken care of) and Britt really understood that, and for many of us this is a once in a lifetime trip; and they understood that naturally we want our vacation to be hassle free and relaxing. It felt like they really cared about our comfort. The issue was resolved and we had a lovely vacation. So rest assured if – unintentionally – anything does go wrong, the owners and manager take care of it quickly, so you can get on with having FUN.
I should also mention it is great for families. I traveled with my three elementary age children, and this was a perfect location, well stocked with items kids need (even a ball). But great WiFi and TV for Grandpa. We are already scheming to figure out a way to come back and will definitely stay here again.
