This home was perfect for our stay when traveling with two teenage boys. The ground floor unit was so convenient to come in and out. I thought we would be sacrificing a view by not being on the upper floors but that was not the case. We sat out on the lanai for coffee in the morning and every meal. The unit is the second unit from the front so you are really just steps from the beach. The kids were able to walk to black rock and whalers village everyday.
The unit had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of spices for cooking. We were alotted 1 roll of paper towells which didnt last us our entire stay so you might want to add that to your shopping list.
I will agree with previous posters about the cockroaches. We did see one or two each morning, but it was NOT due to a cleanliness issue. It is a ground unit condo in a tropical island, there will be bugs. If your lucky, you might get a gecko friend in your unit and they help with bugs. They are good luck and are welcomed in Hawaiian homes so don't try to mess with them. You'll know they are there when you hear little chirps that sound like bird chirps.
There wasnt snorkel equipment this time like other reviews have said. But there are chairs, umbrellas, and a skim board. There is a kiosk by the pool that rents chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and snorkel equipment. We rented snorkel equipment from them and I wish I would have rented elsewhere to save some money.

We booked this unit for our family of 3, including our 11-month old baby specifically for its location as it was on the ground floor. Upon arriving in the evening, the unit appeared very clean however we noticed several cockroaches in the kitchen. The next day, we noticed more and more cockroaches throughout the day - on the counters, in the fridge, in the dishwasher, in the sink, and in the cupboards. We messaged the property manager right away, and she was very responsive however it took 2 days for pest control to come in. Over those 2 days, the cockroaches were all over the kitchen and even in the living room and bedroom. We were uncomfortable with the chemicals being sprayed around our baby but we had no other choice. Unfortunately the pest control treatment did not get rid of the cockroaches and we had to spend the next 6 days of our vacation avoiding the kitchen completely. We had planned to make all our meals in the condo but we’re unable to due to the infestation. Upon checking out, I told the property manager that there were still cockroaches in the unit and she informed me that they found a hole under the kitchen sink (!) likely where they were entering from. The owner refused to acknowledge or offer any sort of compensation for this massive inconvenience. It is unfortunate as the unit, although somewhat dated, would have been the perfect spot for our dream vacation. Save yourself the headache, hassle and anxiety, and book elsewhere!!

We absolutely love being able to walk through the patio doors onto the lanai and directly into the pool or ocean. Combine this convenience with a really spacious and comfortable one bedroom condo and you’ve got a recipe for vacation success
Admitted the condominium is a little dated, but the furniture is very comfortable, has good style that matches and just does the job in a very comfortable way. Well appointed kitchen with all critical appliances and utensils. A fantastic king size bed that made it hard to leave the apartment sometimes. If you’re a stickler for having everything brand new, and in resort condition , then you might wanna look twice but if you’re all about comfort convenience and a perfect location, then don’t look any further.
The closet was well stocked with a boogie board, chairs, umbrella, and some snorkeling masks. There was suntan lotion, still in the closet. Lots of herbs, oils, and condiments in the cupboard… All this added up to a very easy week on Kaanapali beach!

This property was clean, convenient, and memorable for its proximity to the beach, drinking coffee on the lanai and watching whales jump in the ocean. We also loved being able to walk to great snorkeling at Black Rock.

Had a wonderful stay at this property. It's in the Whaler complex right on the beach and next to Whaler village. Good pool, gym, BBQs on the property. The apartment was very well equipped - lots of towels, oil/salt/pepper etc in kitchen, beach stuff on cupboard. A little dated and too many mirrors for my taste (!) but that's just visual and the apartment is exactly as described and appears in photos. Would highly recommend.

We rented this condo as a family of four. It absolutely exceeded our expectations. Large and roomy, comfortable bed, everything we needed. There were boogie boards, umbrella, snorkeling gear, insulated picnic bag, and beach chairs. The pull-out sleeper sofa was good for kids, adults notsomuch, but the rest of the couch was comfortable enough to sleep on. There are two patio sliding doors, and you can walk right out to the beach and/or pool. We were there on spring break but it was never too crowded. The pool area had fresh coffee and a hot tub. Restaurants and shops a few steps away. The beach out front was beautiful, with black rock great for snorkeling. I would highly recommend this place!

We have stayed in this condo once before and chose it again for its great location and all the extras it offers. Having a ground floor location makes trips back and a forth to the beach quick and easy and the patio is great gathering place.
This condo always seems to have lots of extras including umbrellas, coolers, and chairs in the closet and lots of extra dishes for making meals at the BBQ. Definitely one of our favorites!

Great location or should I say the best. First time at Whaler and this unit and location made it a wonderful trip. We stayed in another resort close by previously and wanted to stay at whaler next time. It was as we imagined, bbq, view, location etc was perfect. We hope to come back every year! Had lawn chairs , cooler, and a few other items. Snorkel sets were not complete and missing most all pieces but still nice to have some items like cooler and chairs to use and rent the rest. Would definitely stay here again, it was our girls first time and it set the bar high! Thank you!!

First and foremost the location of this property was PHENOMENAL! Access to the beach, Whaler’s village, and amenities was top notch. The staff on property were very nice and helpful. The accommodations were a little dated but that didn’t particularly bother us. It also seemed as though some corners were missed here and there on the cleaning job prior to our occupancy but nothing egregious. Definitely will be coming back.

This condo was great, exactly as pictured. The ground level unit was fabulous, 20 steps to the beach, pool and lobby. Very clean and quiet. You can listen to the waves crash all day long. The Whaler offers complimentary washer/dryer just 5 rooms down the hall, free towels and beach chairs. First come first serve chaise lounges on grass and pool area with 2 large bbq areas for cooking your fresh catch of the day. You are only a few steps away to Whaler’s Village with great shops and dining. Black rock is a short beach walk for snorkeling and cliff jumping.
The condo is stocked with lots of nice extra amenities. We will stay here again - thanks for making our family spring break trip wonderful!!!!

We stayed at this unit in March for 10 days and had an absolutely wonderful time. The unit it perfectly located on the ground floor and as close to the beach as you can get without being ocean front. We could walk to so much activity in the area and its just a short drive into Lahaina.

This place was perfect for my two granddaughters and me. The ground floor unit was so close to the beach we could hear the waves at night. The unit was equipped with everything we could possibly need, even boogie boards and some snorkel fins and masks. The kitchen was great. The bathroom shower is one of the best I've experienced! Lots of water pressure and a nice spray head. The location is superb; my granddaughters and I would walk to Whaler's Village every night to shop, eat or just hang out. Black Rock beach (a snorkeling favorite) is a short beach walk away. I highly recommend this place and would love to return soon!

This is our second Christmas staying here! We enjoy the ground level and all the things there that make staying here comfortable (beach chairs, boogie boards, coolers, rice cooker, coffee maker, spices, and towels). We hope to stay here again! We even donated our boogie board to the condo...maybe it will be there when we come back?

We had a fabulous time!! The condo was perfectly located and had all the amenities we needed to enjoy our stay with our toddler- spacious, full kitchen, steps away from the pool/beach. My son loved feeding the koi fish every morning! Thank you so much, we will definitely be back if you'll have us!!

What a great condo! The location couldn't have been any more perfect!!! 50 steps from the lanai and you're on the beach enjoy the sand, sun and surf! Also, it was so easy to relax when sitting on the lanai looking out at the beach.
The condo is right next to Whalers Village and restaurants, which is great if you need something from the ABC Store or want to do a little shopping or want to cool off from the beach with a beverage and enjoy a nice meal.
The condo is stock with everything you need to enjoy a day on the beach including beach chairs, boogie boards and coolers. Also, the kitchen had every utensil you could possibly think of needing to cook 3 meals a day. You can't beat the bbqs right next to the beach to grill up dinner every night or even hot dogs at lunch.
We will definitely be renting this condo again as it was the perfect spot to stay to enjoy a great Hawaiian vacation!

The location on ground floor is really nice. Condo is large with 2 TVs (old style, not flat screen). Carpet could be cleaner. Bathroom needs updating. The cabinets are new; however, counter and sink, etc. are still the old marble. Stained, and you can't even use the sink for shaving because there is nothing to hold the stopper down. My husband had to use the kitchen sink and a basin. The toilet and tub area certainly need updating badly. Some black mold in certain areas in the grout, ug, ug. And, floor is the old marble with scratches and stains. The toilet is another issue . . . it probably is the original one. It is loose and around the bottom, it is all rusted and caulking is coming off. This condo is nice, but for the price the bathroom needs updating. We will definitely stay somewhere else when we return.

My husband and I recently spent 10 wonderful days in this condo and would defineately recommend staying there. The location on Kaanapali beach and tasteful decor made our stay very comfortable.

This condo and location is amazing! Cannot say enough good things about our stay or communication with the owner. She was great. The condo is clean, comfortable, and extremely well stocked. Two huge sliding glass doors to access your lanai. We realized that being in a ground floor unit is the only way to go! Steps to beautiful Kaanapali Beach and a quick walk down the beach to Black Rock for some incredible snorkeling. The grounds and pool are awesome as well! There are also plenty of BBQ grills to cook while watching the sunset! This was our second stay in Maui on Kaanapali beach over the past 6 months and the first time to stay at the Whaler. We have already reserved this unit for next March so obviously recommend it highly without any hesitation. We really enjoyed Leilani's on the Beach for dinner. And if you like adventure, you need to check out Skyline Eco Adventures for zip lining. We did that both times we were there and it was a blast!!!
