I did a lot of research prior to this Thanksgiving week stay, choosing the Ilikai Marina (had stayed next door before). The condo is as advertised. Best thing was the always interesting 11th floor corner views of the marina, sunset, etc. Condo was clean and well-equipped. Nice Eaton Square grocery is only a 6-minute walk away. Most places in Waikiki are within a pleasant 20-minute walk, but you are away from the crowds. Good customer service when we had a few questions. Do note that the lanais in this property are really tiny, but the living space is nice.

Well, we did not get to stay here because when we arrived after a 10-11 hour flight, the room was a sauna and couldn't seem to cool. We had text our property mgr, and they just sent us a code. After several communications with both the property mgr. and captain cooks, finally a stand -in for the mgr. came to the room. After many phone contacts, he told us he could move us to the Ilikai Hotel. The location worked out better for us, but we did get a smaller, older, condo needing many updates, especially the bathroom and kitchen. The beach chairs were in pretty bad shape, really embarrassing. We had rented a condo with a separate bed/bath and nice kitchen. The bed was comfortable and the shower had good pressure. They did give us a partial refund, but the view was not as good. We don't plan on ever using Captain Cook's Mgt again!

Overall it was a nice unit. The tub could be removed or refinished and the doors could be replaced or touched up with some paint. I would say the bathroom needs to be totally redone. The furniture needed to be cleaned or replaced. There were 2 chairs in the table area that legs were broken.

We stayed for 3 nights and it worked out pretty well. PROS: The location worked well for us and was close to some great food and shopping. The condo was very clean and tidy. Both beds were comfortable. We were grateful the condo had AC and the views were beautiful.CONS: The sofa bed was not made up for us, despite the property management company knowing we had 3 guests. The bathroom left a little to be desired as the tub itself is in rough shape and the fan didn't do a great job circulating the air. Also, while some folks might love the bidet/toilet situation, it wasn't our favorite.Lastly, the mediocre communication from the property management company and property manager was disappointing. We called as soon as we arrived in Honolulu (per the instructions from the company) and received a text that the manager would call right back. An hour later, no call. I sent a text to let him know we were in town and requesting information about when to meet him for check-in. An hour later, he still hadn't responded. Calling the property management company was useless because they just direct you to call your property manager. So, I contacted him a third time and he said we could check in and he would meet us there. Only he never showed. I sent him a text as soon as we got into the condo and 30 minutes later he called to give me the run down of where everything was, how to access WIFI etc...only we'd already spent the prior 30 minutes figuring it out ourselves. I am sure there are other properties he's in charge of and that it was probably a busy time with multiple guests checking in at once. I just would have preferred better communication from the beginning.So again, not a bad stay overall, just really bad communication from the management company.

Overall we are quite impressed with this rental location and would love to stay here again soon!
The rental is located in the Ilikai Marina Condos, an older facility located right across the street from Waikiki Harbor (the listing does not state this anywhere so it took us some time to find the unit).
Unfortunately, due to the age of the building and circumstances out of the control of the rental owner's hands there were some things that need updating (elevator is not vented or air conditioned). However, we can tell that the unit has been recently renovated and can't wait to see the place once the final touches have been completed. The bed was seriously the comfiest we have ever experienced in a rental.
My fiancé and I had a wonderful honeymoon staying with Captain Cook Rentals and can't wait to get back out to the islands again.

Stove top does not respond to settings well and the freezer melted our food. Manager set it at the highest level and then the food froze like a rock and melted intermittently. Ice cubes were one solid rock. We have never stayed at a noisier place. Although view and location are a dream, we will not rent here again.

This unit is perfect with very comfortable chairs and bar stools, excellent complete kitchen set up with large supply of dishes and wide variety of very nice appliances. Location is good with nice easy walk to beaches and shopping - just a few minutes to Ala Moana Center. Check-in was a breeze and we were able to get in early in the day. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Not a single negative to this place.

We truly enjoyed our stay here, this place is perfect for two people. The views of the marina and ocean is serene and beautiful. We did morning walks on the beach and was able to view Hilton Hawaiian Villages Friday night fireworks from our lanai, which was an added plus. We debated renting a car and ended up with one which we were happy that we did so we were able to get outside of Waikiki when we wished.
The kitchen is well equipped, as well as a nice selection of beach chairs, snorkels and coolers. My only one concern was the condition of the shower which could do with some updating. While the building is a bit older, everything was clean and the apartment is very quiet. Would definitely consider staying here again.

We really enjoyed our time at this property, so handy to the chart house down stairs and Ala Moana. The apt was well stocked with everything we needed. The manager got us some new pillows immediately as the ones there were had it. Also the carpet needed a shampoo badly, manager offered to do it , but we declined that but I'm sure it will be done by now. Great spot would go again.

This condo has everything u need. We stayed 12 nights n cooked our meals in the well equipped kitchen. It would be good to mention there is a small dresser with 4 drawers in the bedroom. Plenty of storage space. Will definitely return to this condo. And the corner view is terrific.

Everything is great with this property with the exception of two things: Parking is 23 bucks a day. And they lock up the laundry room at 9pm. Stupid. There's a little sign that says it is closed at 9pm but never noticed it because I assumed they allowed adults to do laundry all night. Laundry got locked in. Security let us in to get it, but of course he made it obvious he was very unhappy that his busy schedule was interrupted.

Great condo! Can't beat the views. The location was just north of the busy Waikiki central area which was good. Parking was easy and not a bad price when compared to the hotels. Enjoyed using the beach chairs and snorkel gear at the beach which was a 5 minute walk away.

Upon arrival the condo looked just like it was advertised. The location, views of the harbor and ocean are amazing even though the lanai is extremely small and confined that there truly is only enough room for one person. We felt a bit uncomfortable with the fact that the widows open without screens. Visually it is appealing, seems a little dangerous on the 11th floor though. It was a little disappointing that there was a broken dinning room chair and refrigerator drawer but was not notified of these issues until I called the property manager. A heads up curiosity note would be helpful. Overall, the check in process was seamless, the unit was clean and well stocked with the necessitates one would need.

Beautifully placed property right on the Ala Wai Marina. And although amid the hustle of Waikiki, still quiet and private. A million dollar view from the 11th floor. Everything you could want within a 10 minute walk. Good building security.... and maintenance was top notch. The amenities inside the condo were complete for an extended vacation...just like home. Would we go back??? In a heart beat. Will we go back??? Absolutely.

Only downside is the noise at night: people yelling, engines revving, through the night till early morning, especially during the weekend. I'd still come back though :-)

Property was in a great location, walking distance to the rest of our family. Nice bar/pub downstairs. Only problem was that power was out our first morning until about 6:30 am and on our last day, as we were checking out, the water was shut off for the whole building. Never tired of watching the sunsets from this condo setting. Located toward the Ala Moana side of Waikiki but still an easy walk to all the shopping etc., in Waikiki. Just the right size of place for our length of stay (two weeks). Door lock was a problem the first couple of days but after contacting the Property Manager it was changed and fixed. My only comment would be that it is time that the bedding cover be replaced as it looked like its been there a while as there are other areas that could use some remodeling. But even with that it was the right location for us.

I can't think of a single thing that wasn't there for us. I highly recommend this property.
