Hanalei Bay Resort is one of the premier properties on Kauai. Parking was a nightmare and having to walk far with all your stuff was inconvenient, however, the hotel does offer golf cart transportation to and from, it is often busy.

First the check in was difficult and the desk people were shockingly rude. There are fees in addition to the rental our parking and resort fees for 3 days were $190. Parking is as far away from the unit as you can possibly get. This is NOT a Hotel Room or a “Studio” this is a bedroom attached to a larger unit to be clear. It is not 500 square feet it’s under 400. You hear every noise happening next door because the door is a cheap single door separating the units with an almost 1” gap at the bottom the light comes through ( Hotels have 2 doors) The people next door were not loud or up late thankfully but you could here everything from silverware being put away and casual conversations. They have a hodgepodge of kitchen stuff in the closet that’s basically useless there is a coffee pot (no filters I bought a pack and left them for the next unfortunate renter) and a small fridge. These use up the majority of closet space. There is only one small trash can in the bathroom. They have BUGS!! There were bugs in the rooms that I killed then the same ones in the sink. The next morning there were more in the sink and again and again. We will fumigate our luggage before bring it in our house. The railing of the balcony and table were full of bird poop. The carpet is worn and stained. The property was ok but things are in a state of disrepair, the hot tub was not really working and closed one day, the pool was closed one morning and there is no sit down restaurant.

The room is comfortable and has a beautiful view, but it seems to be the master bedroom to the adjoining unit and the connecting door/wall is far too thin. When guests were in the neighboring unit and speaking in relatively normal voices, we could hear every word they said and hear and smell their cooking. Our room did not feel private.

The room has the best view you could hope for. Coffee and treats were left for us, which was wonderfully unexpected. There's a coffee pot, and a mini fridge in the room, the bed was clean and comfortable. Beach chairs and a cooler were left for us to use, which made our trip so much better. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the shower heads and coffee cups were filthy when we arrived. Thankfully there was dishsoap and washcloths so we could clean them off. Heather was responsive and so helpful when the mini fridge broke, she had it replaced within an hour. We would stay here again, but a microwave would be needed.

You can't get any closer to the ocean from this unit. It's a world class view. We ate lunch on the lanai watching the surfers and gorgeous mountains. The unit is stocked with everything one would need - kitchen goods, toiletries, a couple of beach chairs. Bring paper plates. Hanalei Bay Resort has a very friendly staff and all the amenities of a great Hawaii resort - gym tropical pool bbq beach. Also a mecca for tennis players. Looking forward to my next stay in this unit. Thank you!

Hanalei Bay Resort is fabulous. It’s main draws are lush, well-cared-for grounds, lagoon-style pool with waterfalls, and access to an absolutely fantastic stretch of beach. Unit 9206 has one of the best views on the whole property – don’t forget your binoculars for watching the surfers on Hanalei Bay! The room is comfortable and nicely decorated. It is as pictured, except there is no longer the same table and chairs on the lanai. Instead, there is a small bar level table with two tall chairs (no cushions). The king bed is comfortable with lots of pillows and the air-conditioning unit works great. As described, there is a mini fridge (the sizable waist-high kind) and a very small coffee maker. There were plates and bowls for two, two wine glasses, one mug, knives, forks and spoons but no juice glasses – pretty minimal but to be expected since there’s no kitchen or microwave. There’s no table (or desk) in the unit, except the tall one I mentioned on the lanai. So if you’re planning to work remotely or eat in, plan to do so al fresco. I’d definitely book the room again, but there are a few things to keep in mind. This room is connected to a larger condo that can be rented together or separately. The adjoining door is paper thin. I could hear every single word my neighbors were saying, and they were not talking very loudly. Fortunately, none of us were in our rooms very much. And speaking of noise, there is a massive property next door (formerly the St. Regis) that is closed right now and undergoing major renovations. There is construction noise – fairly minimal from the room but louder down on the beach. Even so, the beach is truly idyllic. Hanalei Bay Resort pretty much has exclusive access to the beach right now (called Puu Poa). The path from the resort to the beach is steep but paved – saw several families with strollers making the trek. There’s a phone at beach level for you to call for one of the resort golf carts to come take you back up the hill. There’s lots of great shade trees and, at least when I was there, it is was calm and shallow. Snorkeling was great – even saw a turtle hanging out. I had intentions of exploring other beaches, but honestly this one was so perfect, I went to it every day. Once the adjoining resort reopens (scheduled for Nov. 2022), I imagine the beach will be more crowded. Thanks to HBR #9206 for a great getaway. I’ll be back!

Hanalei Bay Resort is a gorgeous property with the best view of Hanalei Bay possible. Unit 9206 has an unobstructed view of the Na'Pali mountains, the beach below, and the surfers riding the waves. The unit is nicely decorated and very comfortable. The pool are is wonderful. I have to search for issues to critique, just very minor ones: only 1 coffee cup, louvers on top portion of entry door are not opening (bottom work perfectly), and we could get the temperature knobs on the shower head farthest away from the sink wall to work. A perfect stay other then these very minor things. We will certainly return.
