Our stay at this condo at The Whaler was excellent. It sits in a perfect location with gorgeous views to the South and the island of Lanai’i. The kitchen and one of the bathrooms have recently been updated. The condo was well appointed and had everything that we needed. Communication with the owner was excellent. The bed was comfortable and having the extra space of the living area was really nice. I would highly recommend this condo. The Whaler itself is a nice property with luscious gardens, gorgeous lobby, a nice pool and small but workable gym.

This condo served as an excellent home for a week for my wife, my two teenage daughters, and myself. There are certainly numerous condos at the Whaler on VRBO, but I picked this one because of (1) the side of the building it was on and the elevation, and (2) at least one other review stating specifically that the bed was comfortable.
Regarding the first - the view is exactly as it appears in the listing. It's far from the next nearest building, so the view isn't dominated by any other structures. You can see both the mountains and the ocean, with Lana'i in the background. It's also positioned so that you can be outside any time and never be in the direct sunlight. Regarding the bed - I can confirm that it is, indeed, comfortable. And I'm picky about beds when I travel. And the pull-out sofa was, well, a pull-out sofa - but my girls said it was one of the more comfortable ones they've slept on, and didn't have any issue with it.
The condo was well appointed and had everything we needed, including beach chairs - so you don't need to pay to rent those or to use the meh free ones from the Whaler. The air conditioning worked super well, and parking was easy. Communication from the host was great. Overall, an excellent experience. If we're back on the West coast of Maui again, I won't bother to shop around if this place is available.

We absolutely loved staying at this condo in Whaler's Village. The accessibility to the shopping and restaurants in Whaler's Village was very nice. We would walk to the coffee shop in the morning for breakfast and walk over for dinner at night. We loved being right next to all the action, but it wasn't loud or too much for us. The condo was beautiful and clean and perfect for a couple and one child on the sleeper sofa. The kitchen had everything we needed for our stay, and the laundry machines were an added plus! The property provides morning coffee and daily water in the lobby, and they provide towel service for the pool and beach. You get the convenience of a condo with the amenities of a resort at this property! Thank you for opening your condo to us!

We had an awesome stay in this unit and recommend staying here if you like being close to black rock and/or Whaler's Village. The unit had great views and was super clean. They unit was very well decorated and we felt like we were in someone's home.

We had such an amazing time in Maui! This condo was the perfect location for us. It’s minutes to the beach, shopping and food. We spent lots of time at Black Rock which had turtles and very cool snorkeling spots. Our condo had all the amenities we needed for our family and beautiful views from the lanai. We will definitely be back!

Pros: owner was a nice person and also got us in very early; the views and property are amazing, the concierge was excellent, washer dryer in unit.
Cons: needs a serious deep clean; ice maker broken which owner said she didn’t know, but someone left partial bag of ice and there were a ton of ice cube trays—wasn’t fixed even after I informed her—; condo is listed for 4 people but 1) only 2 chairs for higher table on lanai and at a short table one chair ( should have been 4 total at higher table where we all could see view!), 2) one of beach chairs is unusable/broken so only 3 in actuality; 3) minimal dishes (e.g. 5 dinner plates) 4) if you plan to cook, knives are not very effective and minimal cooking utensils (we bought a couple cooking items and left them in the condo) 5) bedding was poor, the master king had a sheet and then a old felt not good quality thin blanket covered by another sheet with nothing else 6) the listing says unit is remodeled, but the master bath has definitely not been.
Sum: this unit is priced very high for what you get compared to other similar units we’ve stayed at in the Whaler complex. It’s a bummer because we’ve been here before and expected same or more especially with higher price and really wanted to like it because the owner was very nice and helpful upfront with early check in.

We celebrated our 10yr anniversary with our kids (6 and 9). Judy was very accommodating - even ensuring our room was ready early since we arrived in the morning. We enjoyed the beautiful view from the lanai and had everything we needed to make meals and snacks for our kids. Being near Whalers Village was a huge plus too - making it easy to hit the beach or a restaurant. We hope to be back very soon!

This suite was very nice for our first Maui vacation together. The upgrades were nicely done, with a cool Hawaiian decorating touch. The location was a good blend of walking distance to shops, and things to see, without feeling too crowded. Was great to just walk out front onto the beach. Staff there is friendly and helpful, and Judy was easily reached with quick response when needed. The south/west view from the 9th floor is very nice, with a large well equipped lanai and plenty of sitting options. Aside from the air conditioners below at the Whalers Village Mall, the suite was overall a peaceful and quiet place to enjoy. We would definitely stay again for our next vacation, and recommend this suite for others looking for a great Kaanapali location.

Thank you, Judy. We had a wonderful time at your condo. It is clean and beautiful and the view is amazing. When we arrived, the front desk welcomed us by name right away and knew that we had made arrangements with you for specific check-in and check-out times. They were friendly and quickly provided all of the information we would need for our stay -- regarding parking, how to access beach towels, nearby attractions etc. Both arrival and departure were quick and seamless. It's nice that you provide a few water toys on the lanai for use (which we did) -- eg.boogie boards and noodles and fins. The condo provided all amenities and everything in the kitchen was so clean and organized. The decor is very nice and the mirrored walls let you enjoy it twice (while also enabling you view the ocean even when you aren't looking out at the ocean). It was nice to have access to the washer/dryer. We had an absolutely wonderful time and would recommend this condo to anyone who is looking for a perfect Kaanapali location and a lovely condo. (In response to comments from others about the smells coming onto the lanai from the nearby restaurants, they definitely do. For one person in our party, this made him not want to use the lanai, but it didn't bother my husband and I. We loved sitting on the lanai enjoying the view and busy Kaanapali activity along the boardwalk below. It would depend on your sensitivity to cooking smells. For me, it was not any different from smelling the cooking when sitting in a restaurant. )Also, we noticed no significant noise, even though the property is conveniently adjacent to the busy Whaler Mall (which is VERY convenient for Happy Hour Monkey Pod Mai Tais). We also loved that the condo was a very easy walk to the mall and to Black Rock, where snorkeling is good and we were lucky enough to see sea turtles. Staff at the Whaler were all friendly and helpful. Thank you, Judy, for sharing your lovely condo.

We stayed 14 nights in early March 2023. The location of this unit is perfect. We watched the whales from the lanai every day. People watching along the beach, walkways and at whalers village is also fun. The area has many terrific restaurants and 2 excellent golf gourses that are also viewable from the lanai.
The unit was very well appointed with everything we needed. The washer and dryer was a great bonus as well. Both bathrooms were great and nice to have so we could get ready for our daily adventures quickly. Bed was comfortable.
The property is also terrific, pool and hot tub is wonderful to have along with the beach front rental booth to rent snorkel gear, cabanas, or just to get fresh towels. Super convenient and friendly staff.
We had the absolute best time in Maui and we are so happy to have selected this location as our home base for 2 weeks. We will be back for sure!

This location is excellent! Kaanapali Beach is stunning. We could see whales from the condo. Magnificent rainbows and sunsets were a daily showstopper. Best Whale tour is with Pacific Whale Foundation/Eco tours that leaves from Lahaina. Many whale sitings and a huge whale decided to swim under our boat twice and gave us and up close and personal visit! The condo itself was in a terrific location with incredible views. The only challenge was the condo needs better cleaning. However, we could wash the dishes that were dirty in the dishwasher and the dirty towels in the washer and dryer in the unit. Overall, the Whaler is a wonderful place to enjoy the beach!

The Whaler is right in the heart of Kaanapali Beach, so you would be hard pressed to find a better location on Maui. Judy has done a great job keeping the property modern and well equipped. The washer and dryer in the unit is great, you can pack a lot lighter when you know you can do laundry without sharing a laundromat.
The only problem with the unit is the lanai (balcony) looks right over The Hula Grill, which is a very busy restaurant. Unfortunately the two large exhaust fans for their kitchen often blow right onto the lanai, and it chased us inside about half the times we wanted to sit outside.
If you are a beach lover, this place may be perfect for you. If you'd rather sit on the lanai and enjoy the beautiful views, you may be frustrated by the restaurant next door.

We stayed at Judy’s condo at the Whaler from Christmas to New Year’s Eve 2022. The condo is fantastic! Exactly as pictured, except the view pictures that are posted on the listing do not do it justice! The view was absolutely breathtaking! We sat out on the patio every evening and watched the sun set.
The condo was very comfortable and inviting. The main bed was incredibly comfy, pull out couch was great too. My boys slept on that and were happy with it.
The kitchen has everything you need to cook with and there are BBQs downstairs right near the sand.
Whalers village is just next door, it was easy to walk down and grab some lunch and a mai tai. Boys had a good time jumping off Black rock, which is a short walk up the beach near the Sheraton. You can rent surfboards and surf the little break down the ways a bit, you can see it from the patio. They saw a bunch turtles while they were out surfing.
Don’t forget to look in the box out on the patio. For some reason I missed it and we opened it on the last day and realized there were beach chairs, sand toys, snorkels and fins and nice body boards. I was so bummed I didn’t realize it was there earlier.
It was a fantastic vacation and we will definitely be staying here again!

This is a superb property. The description and pictures actually don't even do it justice. Clever placement of mirrors makes it look twice as big – and it was already spaciouz should to begin with – the balcony overlooking the ocean is fantastic, and everything about the facility was first rate.

Within an hour of checking in for a 9 day stay I notified the owner of the stained, dirty carpet and poor kitchen lighting because the 2 ceiling lights above the sink were burned out. She asked me to text her photos of the carpet which I did and she agreed it was bad. Her response was to tell me there was a bottle of Resolve carpet cleaner and light bulbs and a ladder in the utility closet, and that I shouldn’t call building maintenance because they charge too much. When I told her we weren’t going to be doing this maintenance but we expected it to be taken care of she said she would call her own maintenance people and let me know when they were coming. I never heard another word from her and of course nobody ever showed up.
You should also know that although most of the unit has been renovated the master bath has not. It doesn’t meet expectations at this price point, nor does the extremely soft bed.

This was our second time renting this unit. Both times it was a pleasure. Well appointed with everything you need, beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, etc. Great having washer/dryer in the unit and the kitchen had everything you wanted. We wanted to stay an extra week but this unit was already booked. We ended up renting a unit through the Whaler which didn’t have everything this unit had.

Location/view is gorgeous but the furnishings could use an update, especially the bed. Washing machine and beach toys were nice features. The location of the Hula Grille right next door is such that its kitchen exhaust fan is spewing smoke from 9:30am until late dinner. The pollution is unacceptable for a Maui paradise vacation. Not the owners fault, but this should be mentioned. TS Restaurants should solve this immediately.

We stayed in Lahaina for a few days during our honeymoon after a few days in Wailea. The location was great - right on the beach and close to excursions and restaurants. The condo was a bit outdated but it was comfortable - the kitchen had everything we needed and there were 2 bathrooms which was nice for getting ready. The only other complain was that the bed was VERY soft - be weary if you prefer firm mattresses. It was definitely too soft for us and was difficult to sleep especially for 3 nights. Overall would recommend for a few nights stay.

My family and I had a great time staying at Judy’s condo at the Whaler. It’s the perfect location as it’s walking distance to the Whaler village, has a pool and gym, and located across from the beach. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and grill at the BBQ area. They provide so much beach gear as well. The host, Judy is very nice and helped us with all of our needs, as unexpected things came up. Highly recommend staying with her as she will make sure you have an amazing vacation.
The only thing to note is that their master bedroom mattress is very plush, so if you’re someone who needs a firm mattress, this may not be the mattress for your needs.

We’ve stayed many times at The Whaler and enjoyed our stay in 957. We like being on the Whalers Village side - it’s sunny and the views are vast and wide - we also like the music drifting up from Hula Grill. We enjoy grilling downstairs and we found everything we needed in the kitchen (except a cutting board - would recommend that addition). The unit has an updated kitchen and was clean and comfortable- my 20-something year old daughter found the pull out couch comfortable - which was a plus. The washer/dryer in the unit was another plus. Beach stuff (chairs, cooler, boogie boards) were super great to have for us.

My husband and I visited Maui for the first time for our babymoon. We booked this property because the ratings were so good & it did not disappoint! The unit itself was clean and comfortable. We loved that there was a full kitchen, two bathrooms and a washer/dryer for quick small loads of laundry! The lanai (balcony) was absolutely perfect with great views of the ocean and sunrise/sunset! We enjoyed relaxing out there and watching for whales. We also really appreciated that the unit had chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, coolers and ice packs. It was so nice to have to spend addition money on those things. Personally, we thought the bed was super comfortable too, not too soft…but that’s just us!
The Whaler property itself was so pretty with quick access to the beach and the whaler shopping/dining center. Access to towels and chairs were great as well. There are also grills and picnic tables on the property if you want to grill out one night. The underground parking fills up pretty fast but the lot isn’t far either.
Overall this was a great place to stay! Everyone we met, from staff to guests, were so nice and the location was absolutely perfect! We will for sure stay here again whenever we visit again!

We have stayed at The Whaler multiple times and this is by far our favorite unit. The view is amazing! The condo was fully stocked for all of our cooking needs. Enjoying the sunset on the lanai every night the highlight of our trip. The pool and grounds are very well maintained. We’re looking forward to our next trip and would definitely stay here again.

The condo is beautiful and has the best view of the ocean and sunsets. The grounds between the two towers is gorgeous. The whaler village that can be seen right off the lanai has shopping and restaurant that are very convenient. With that said, the sounds of music and food is tolerable. We found that the sound from Whalers Village air-conditioning units was bothersome. The mattress was much softer than we prefer, you sink into it.
