The unit is so spacious and met all of our needs ... from being located next to the laundry, to having an off street parking spot baked into the rental price. Cooking was easy for us, and the beds were extra comfortable. The view was amazing, and we became very comfortabl walking the short walk to the beach and the main strip. This unit is in the heart of everything, and yet it is quiet. Highly recommend this for someone that wants to be close to everything, but still feel as if they have their own private paradise. Last but not least, the pictures do not give this place justice - it is extremely clean.

I wish I could give a “4.5” to this property. Here are the pros:
1) Great location—within a mile of Waikiki beach and shopping
2) Spotless
3) Beds are comfortable
4) Condo is supplied with plenty of dishes, pans, etc all in good shape
5) WiFi is strong
6) Byron is helpful
Cons:
1) This is an old building with soiled carpeting and poorly maintained hallways
2) This is a 38-floor building with the condo on the 24th, but only two elevators of the four are in working order—of course they are on the ends so if you are standing on the Murphy’s Law end and don’t scurry to the other end you’ll miss it and have to wait another round. According to staff, it’s been that way a while.
3) The very heavy door of the condo is old with a broken spring to soften the closure. The smart lock wasn’t working and so the three of us had to be sure someone had the solo key.
4) There is an app to pay for laundry and it is located right next door to the condo—good news is it’s close, bad news is you get to hear people going in and out doing their laundry.
5) As of December, the property has some kind of construction going on. There is no place to park while you check in—fortunately Byron was on site and could come out to the street to give us the parking pass for the garage.
6) Leaving requires loading your car, having one of your party pull out and park in a “no parking” zone while another waits for one of the two elevators to go back up to the condo and return the pass to the condo.

We were really happy with our stay. The property was clean, updated and had everything we needed. The actual building itself needs some work for example the hallways carpet. But the actual room was great and highly recommend it. Captain Cook’s staff was once again amazing!

Condo was great for our family of 6! Short walk to the beach, ABC store, and a couple of food trucks on the way. If you forgot something they had a little market on the 5th floor. BBQ area was great! Communication with manager was easy and responses were quick. Only issue we had was parking. We had rented an SUV to fit our family but because of the height in the parking garage we could only park on the second floor which was limited and first come first serve. Overall I would definitely come back to this little gem!

We had a great experience staying at Waikiki Sunset. Having an apartment with all the amenities, a great view of Diamond head and the ocean and a short walk to Waikiki beach was great! Byron was a great host and was available when needed. We’ll stay there again!

Before I start, I want to make clear that Captain Cook Rentals are great to work with; we have used them before and will use them again. We did not complain to them during our stay as there was nothing they could have done to make our stay better.We were disappointed in this property. The views are AMAZING, and this is what you are paying for. It is a corner unit, so you have several different views from the many windows. But you are also next to the laundry room, so it gets noisy as people go in and out. The apt is small. We are a family of four adults; six people would never be comfortable. There is only comfortable seating for four. The dining chairs are fine for eating, but not relaxing. The beds and bedrooms were tiny; I ended up measuring the beds as I could not believe they were truly the size advertised (they were.) The bathroom has the smallest shower/tub combo I've ever seen. Water pressure is good and we never ran out of hot water. The "washlet" toilet is huge compared to the space, making it a bit uncomfortable to use. It also made a recirculating noise for 10 seconds every 30 min all day and night. The bathroom had a sour smell which we finally figured out was the shower curtain. The apt was clean, but could use some more basic supplies, such as measuring cups/spoons and a coffee scoop. The building itself is pretty run down; elevators were slow and went out several times and the fire alarm went off twice and we had to evacuate only to find out they were (luckily!) false alarms. They were doing work in the building, turning off all power including ac on different floors each day. Thankfully our floor was slated for the week after, but there was noise from that much of the day.The location is good; several years ago we stayed across the street in the Waikiki Banyon, so knew the area is fine for being able to walk a few blocks to beach, stores, and the many yummy restaurants on Kuhio St, as well as ease of g

We just stayed for 6 nights in unit 2413. The unit was clean, had beautiful views and had everything we needed for our trip. Sitting on the lanai for breakfast or a nighttime drink was just gorgeous. The kitchen has the basics - plates, cups, cookware etc and we were left with plenty of trashcan liners and TP. The beach chairs/towels, free parking and WiFi were a plus. Bring (or buy) extra soap/shampoo etc and paper towels if you stay more than a day or so. Overall, the on-site staff were good, the store has necessities and the walk to the beach takes just a few minutes. The building and condo is definitely older and it shows, but still feels clean and neatly decorated. The ‘master’ bedroom is on the smaller side but definitely doable although the bed was not comfortable for US at all (beds are subjective - others may love it). Check in/check out was super easy! One word of caution for light sleepers - we did not hear any noise at all from neighbors, barely any noticeable traffic or street noise unless we listened for it but those roosters were crazy loud each morning and woke us as the sun came up each morning around 5:45 (keep in mind though, the roosters are eeeeverywhere, so this will likely be true wherever you stay) If you plan on using the laundry, be sure to have plenty of quarters ($1.75 each cycle) There is an app but the minimum balance is $10 - I didn’t have quarters and then had an issue with a dryer not syncing to the app. We would definitely recommend this place for couples and smaller families.

Our stay in this condo at the Waikiki Sunset was great. Wonderful views, Trade winds cooling, but also AC, if you like. Short walk to ZOO, Aquarium, beach, shops, and all that Waikiki has to offer. And the Swimming Pool deck was a hit with the kids!! Well appointed condo and the beds were new and very comfortable. Would definitely stay there again!! ONO!

This was a great location. Lovely apartment but a little dated. And cheap fittings, so things broke, like the toilet roll holder and the wardrobe doors. We didn't have a plug for the kitchen sink till the second day so that was annoying.
Over all though, it was a very good place to stay. We were very happy here.

This condo is extremely small. The photos make it seem much more spacious than it actually is. It's barely possible to walk around the beds in both bedrooms. It's also in need of some updates, particularly to the bathroom and the kitchen cabinetry.
It's also relatively noisy - this particular unit is close to the laundry and trash rooms - which can be convenient, but also lends itself to lots of hallway noise and slamming doors at all times of day and night.
When I stay in a VRBO, I expect there to be some basic kitchen items available - enough sugar for coffee for the duration of my stay, salt & pepper, etc. This place had one 'welcome pack' with one day's coffee and sugar and that was it for the multiple day stay.
There was also an issue of the water being turned off for numerous hours one of the days we were staying. This place is run by an on-site management company and they could have given advance notice of this, but they didn't.
Even with these assorted issues, the place has a beautiful view of Diamond Head, and is a quick walk to Waikiki Beach, restaurants and shopping, so the location is great.
