The unit was well prepared and had been set up to be very welcoming when we arrived. It has pretty much everything we could need. The bed was comfortable and there was a black-out curtain for the bedroom which is nice to have. The automatic ice maker wasn't working, but ice cube trays were provided. The location was perfect for our needs. We weren't here for a vaction, but we still enjoyed the complex's pool and sanded area for lounging ("man-made beach"). We were pleased to find that the complex provides free drip coffee at the pavilion in the morning. The included central AC is a real plus anytime of year. The in-unit washer dryer is also a big plus. There is a little convience store, right there on the road for the last minute grocery shopping needs. And the Ali'i trolley stops right there as well, super convient if you don't have a car everyday (though it only comes once an hour and sometimes gets delayed and runs on Kona time: to help you get a better feel for the island). We'd definately stay here again.

Nice place. Not the most professional workmanship last time it was remodeled. But that didn’t affect the stay in any way. Clean and a great location would stay again We didn’t have any and didn’t need any communication with property manager. So we really can’t rate that fairly.

In pure ratings, I would give this a 3 star at the most due to location, space, amenities on the property (salt water pool, fresh water pool, BBQ, picnic area, sandy area right at water’s edge) – however, the accommodation itself is a 2-star. Parking is unassigned and there were many cars parked and covered indicating owners who keep a car here, and there is not nearly enough parking within the gated area even for 1 car per unit let alone with those permanently parked. The unit itself is VERY dated and shows its age. I’ve stayed in many units on this island and in this area where the climate (humid, salty air, etc.) is tough on things but other places ensure that the fridge isn’t rusty, the screens work, vents aren’t rusted in place, drapes/blinds are in good condition, etc. Be prepared with your own shampoo, conditioner, and lotion as bar soap is the only thing provided. There is laundry soap and dryer sheets, but the dryer didn’t work during my stay. The team at Grand Vacations was available, but I found it odd that I would send an email and get a text response back! It was also curious that I would reply to the text but it would be hours later before hearing back. Some of the responses were at 10pm or 11pm which also seemed odd, so staffing or AI appears to be around the clock. - Screen door doesn’t close/stuck and was afraid to use force and be charged for fixing an already broken screen; instructions state to keep screens closed for bugs but that was not possible! - Dirty dishes and silverware that I washed before using - Filthy coffee maker that needed scrubbing which I did before using - Dirty tile floors throughout - A/C that barely cools and warned to keep above 72 or freeze pipes; all vents are rusted in position so can’t direct air to one area or another; very noisy system rattling along - 19 light switches in a small 1-bedroom unit - Lighting is really poor at night and hard to find a place to sit comfortably and read Being an older unit is not the issue...the maintenance, care, and cleaning of the unit is.

This was the first time we regretted booking on VRBO. We checked into our room and the smell of dampness and mold was overwhelming. There was visible mold on and around the air vents. The unit was not clean. The dishwasher racks were completely rusted and it did not work. The toilet constantly ran. The fridge was rusted on the outside. The patio was crusted in bird poop. The curtains were extremely stained and falling off the rod. At first, we started cleaning the unit ourselves. We cleaned a couple of the HVAC vents and cleaned the air filter which was completely clogged. We emailed the management company and then called as well. No response to either. We then called and sent pictures to VRBO. They put us up at a hotel for a night. The unit was recleaned and VRBO assured us the mold was not harmful. We stayed in a hotel for an additional night and went back to check. With no other options (everything was booked) we had to stay.

This was our second time at the Casa and it was just as memorable as the first. We first stayed in 335. This unit was smaller and more comfortable. The kitchen is a cook's dream! Very well stocked and tastefully outfitted from the plates to a large selection of glassware and so much more. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had an overabundance of linen. It also helped that the weather was most accommodating for our entire stay. We will certainly be returning to this unit. Thanx! Bill

Casa de Emdeko is a very private resort. The salt water pool is great as well as the stunning sunsets every day. Unfortunately the cabana was under construction and could not be used during our complete stay.

This week is exactly what we needed....laid back and quiet. While the weather was cloudy, we fortunately didn't get the rain that Kauai got. The condo and grounds are very comfortable and well appointed, but the condo could use some TLC. This will sound familiar as we stayed here several years ago and had the same critique! The drapes for the lanai are water stained at the bottoms, the side of the refrigerator is rusty, the base of the coffees pot is rusty, the fan for the air conditioner is noisy, and only one of the keys that were there worked. We called the management company and they said they would take care of the key problem, but we never heard back or got service. We do love Casa de Emdeko and will return but not to this specific unit.

Great location, just far enough from Kona but not too far. Super quiet property, beautiful gardens. It's an older building but well taken care off and clean. The two pools are great and the small beach area overlooking the ocean is an amazing place to relax. This is a quiet building with very nice residents, definitely not a "party" spot. Amazing value for our trip!
