We stay at this complex regularly, but first time in this specific unit, as we needed some extra space this time. The rental process: you'll need to print out, sign and scan/fax back a rental agreement. Seems unnecessary, since already paying VRBO crazy fees to deal with this admin stuff. Property management company should create an online process. The unit is clean, and well stocked, but hardly updated. The living room furniture is NOT comfortable for hanging out, and the TV is tiny. If unit is just for sleeping, then OK, but not enticing to hang out. It has an old musty smell that never seemed to go away.

The location was great. Listing pictures and description were very accurate. The property is close to shopping and food. There are several small beaches within a couple minutes walk, a farmers market a block away and easy to use community grills and pools on site. Most folks walk down the street to get to the downtown area. 15 minutes and you're there by foot. If you have a vehicle, there is parking available inside the property gates or just outside the property gates. The area is safe, so even parking outside the gated area isn't a concern. Inside the condo, there are fans and limited AC. This is completely normal for Hawaii and we were comfortable at night with regard to temperature. The bathroom and kitchen are both modern. The patio has a spectacular view and offers a laid back retreat to get some work done, spend time with family or kick back a cold one. In my case, a cold one is a glass of water, which is a easy to get as the property features Brita filters in the fridge. Cable TV and high speed wifi are available. Various towels, beach chairs and other items to make the stay comfortable are available in closets or in storage just outside the front door. Washers and dryers are available for public use, but none in the unit. (Just a note in case you miss it in the description) We had to reach out to the host once as the check in details were lost in the spam folder. They were responsive and very helpful. We were checked in with no issues. Great stay, would stay again.

Pros: Views are great, the private beach is very nice, less than a mile from DT Kona. Cons: Room smells a bit funky, AC is LOUD and slow to cool down the complex, and bathoom/kitchen are a bit dated.

This condo has wonderful views, is quiet and grounds are maintained nicely. The bed is comfortable and there are plenty of linens. Downside is that tub leaks..so you have to use the nice tiled shower. Some of the plastic dishes also should be replaced. Overall nice unit though and the good features definitely outweigh the bad.

Beautiful mid-century condo apartment with authentic retro charms. Totally as advertised, with lovely views and sounds of the ocean, only a few dozen yards away from this unit. Top floor unit was very quiet which helped ensure great sleep.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Casa de Emdeko. The property itself was very well maintained and the location was perfect. We especially enjoyed the salt water pool, quiet beach area and barbecues. The unit was very well equipped and the property managers were responsive. Can't wait to visit again!
