Seriously this place is right on the water. It was fun to wake up, open my eyes and see the ocean. We enjoyed watching surfers everyday. The amenities were great. Most comfortable beds, pillows and couch I’ve had at a vrbo. The only draw back is the lack of AC in the other room, but we knew that going in.

Everything was clean and well kept and the view was fantastic. Everything we needed was provided. The pool and hot tub were disappointing but we really didn’t care as we didn’t plan to spend much time there.

The pictures and description of the Penthouse is spot-on! The view is amazing. We sat on the lanai every morning drinking our coffee and watching the surfers and waves. We ate breakfast and dinner on the lanai. It was definitely our favorite part of the place. The place including the kitchen was will stocked with anything you need, the beds were comfortable, and did I mention the views...so amazing. I was concerned about the guest room being warm but there was a ceiling fan and a rotating fan our daughter/boyfriend were comfortable and it was humid during the day/early evening. It was close to shopping and restaurants. Papa Kona restaurant is very good! We ate there 3 times including Thanksgiving! We hope to return soon! Thank you Holly for sharing your beautiful Penthouse!

The best feature of the room is the amazing lanai (large balcony)! There are 2 loungers, a table, hooks and transparent shades that drop down. There are surfers 300 yards from lanai, all day long LIVE ENTERTAINMENT. Lava rocks at the entrance of ocean and is not friendly for swimming. The lanai glass wall completely opens. The air conditioning worked well. The master bed was comfortable. Storage in closet, and under bed. There was multiple fold up chairs and coolers. There is a pocket wall between the master bedroom and living room. The TV mount allowed easy viewing. The TV was a current smart TV with screen mirroring. The kitchen has plenty of cooking supplies. There were casserole dishes the we used to warm our pre-order meals each night, ordered from Taylored Meals in Kona. The second bedroom had a TV and fan, closet storage but doesn’t have direct air conditioning vents. Hair dryer and washer and dryer in bathroom. In the grass area on the property there are several BBQs. The unit has BBQ equipment. Free public transportation pick up station directing adjacent to property. The bus runs every hour on the hour, was 12-minute ride to downtown. There are multiple grocery stores in Kona we spent our money at local KTA stores several nearby. Holly was wonderful about communication. We would highly recommend this unit. Thank You for a Wonderful 30th Anniversary experience.

After having to suddenly rebook due to the original properties elevator breaking, I was able to book this amazing place. Literally steps from the ocean and close to downtown Kailua-Kona, but not too close. Very well furnished and clean. Parking was adequate even with the renovations occurring to the parking area. Definitely a 5 star location!

I LOVED my two-week stay here. Amazing VRBO rental. It is exactly like the photos suggest... beautiful. Holly has it impressively stocked with everything one might need for a stay (dish soap, new sponges, soap, paper towels, garbage bags, etc.).. you just need to get food.
The view is incredible.. I loved watching the surfers nearby. What a treat. I kept the patio doors open with screens shut at night to hear the waves. I only used the A/C once for about 10 minutes on a humid day. But if you keep the top windows in the 2nd bedroom open, you'll get a nice cross breeze, esp. with the three overhead fans in the condo. Keyless door entry with a door code is also great. I looked at many condos and hotels online over the past few months before I chose this one, and I am so glad I did. Fantastic place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

This is a great condo overlooking the beautiful ocean. We have stayed at the Kona Bali Kai quite a few times. This condo has been completely remodeled and the changes were done really well. We especially liked the changes made to the kitchen area. The diagonal change to the kitchen sink area was a great idea and really opens up the main room. The bathroom remodels were also well done. The remodel design was carefully thought through and they used some quality materials. We really enjoyed our stay. Holly was a terrific host and made everything easy.

The location is perfect for exploring Kona and surrounding areas, and there’s even a few small beaches right on the property.

All I can say is WOW!! This rental is the most amazing place I have ever rented for multiple reasons. First and foremost is the stunning view of the ocean through a wall of glass doors that open wide up and let the ocean breeze blow right through. These doors were open when we arrived and it was an incredible first impression. Breathtaking.
Second would be the beautiful renovation of the unit with up to date EVERYTHING! The owner/designer has impeccable taste. It's GORGEOUS and I cannot say enough about that!! The feel of this condo is so relaxing and the beds and furniture so comfortable, it felt like home. Tough to leave for sure!
Third and also super important was how this rental was stocked. Unlimited supply of toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, shampoo/conditoner, kitchen spices, foil, plastic wrap, freezer bags, etc, etc. the list goes on. It's nice to rent a place where you don't have to go to the store for the basic necessities the minute you get there. It's that extra added touch that makes a difference and makes it even more special and convenient.
The location is awesome too! About 3 miles from downtown Kona, a mile from Magic Sands Beach (snorkeling) and 1/2 mile from a cute little shopping area and the Shaka Taco truck (LOL) whose spicy pork tacos are a must!
Last but not least is Holly, the owner. Super cool, very accessible, accommodating and extremely pleasant to deal with. Holly and her condo is from now on my GO TO place in Kona and I cannot imagine staying anywhere else. Thank you Holly!! Please take the rest of the VRBO owners to school! Take care until next time! Just returned from a wonderful 7 night vacation. The accommodations were just great - super clean!, everything you could need for cooking (though we didn't cook much), beach supplies - chairs, umbrellas, cooler, ice packs, very comfortable bed!!, spectacular view of the ocean, air conditioning for the late afternoon when it got a bit warm, plenty of parking, convenient for getting to restaurants etc in town, walkable to Magic's Beach Grill, easy drive to sandy beaches up the coast, washer and dryer in unit, and on and on. We appreciated Holly's attention to detail and her warm support of some personal issues we were experiencing. Thank you so much Holly!!

The minute you step inside this unit and feel the ocean breeze you know you are in the perfect spot. The morning views from the balcony of the surfers and waves are a great way to start the morning but the views of sunsets are spectacular! The inside of the unit is exactly as the photos, inviting and very comfortable, perfect for relaxing. Everything has been thoughtfully supplied for making meals. But if cooking is not your thing on vacation great restaurants are only short walk away. We can’t wait to go back!

Just returned from a wonderful 7 night vacation. The accommodations were just great - super clean!, everything you could need for cooking (though we didn't cook much), beach supplies - chairs, umbrellas, cooler, ice packs, very comfortable bed!!, spectacular view of the ocean, air conditioning for the late afternoon when it got a bit warm, plenty of parking, convenient for getting to restaurants etc in town, walkable to Magic's Beach Grill, easy drive to sandy beaches up the coast, washer and dryer in unit, and on and on. We appreciated Holly's attention to detail and her warm support of some personal issues we were experiencing. Thank you so much Holly!!

The condo was beautiful and the view was amazing! Holly was also very helpful. The condo had everything, including beach chairs, a cooler, and umbrella. There was even a little basket of snacks, which came in handy when we arrived super late after a delayed flight. Would absolutely stay here again if we got the chance!

Holly’s condo is amazing! First, there is the view. It is even more spectacular in person. We spent every morning and evening on the lanai watching the surfers do their thing. Second, Holly has thought of everything in terms of stocking the place. I can’t count the number of times someone in our family said: “It would be nice if we had a cooler. Hey! There’s a cooler in the closet!” or “I wish I had brought binoculars to look at the birds up close. Hey, there’s binoculars in this drawer!” This went on and on throughout our stay and became a running joke in our family. “I bet Holly has thought of this.” You will not run out of towels or toilet paper or anything. Copious supplies of everything you need. Third, the condo was clean and everything was as listed. A great place to stay in a great location to get to wherever you want on the island. Check in was a breeze and Holly was very proactive in reaching out to make sure we checked in and that we had everything we needed. A thousand mahalos, Holly! Thank your for your thoughtfulness and hospitality!

I am writing this review on my second day of a week long stay here because I already can’t say enough good things about this unit. We have stayed in a lot of home share places over the years as well as some amazing hotel/efficiencies, but never have we stayed in a place that is both so beautifully designed and thoroughly well appointed. Literally, every single thing you can think of that you need is provided in this unit. But because of the impeccable design, everything has a place and you don’t feel like there is just “stuff everywhere.”
The home looks exactly like it does in the listing. It is beautiful and the location is exactly what you come to Hawaii for— beautiful blue water, palm trees, crashing waves— stunning! Located just a few miles away from not only Kona town, but also grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, etc. it’s the perfect combination of tourist and practical.
The only thing I could point out to future residents is that there is a back bedroom & bathroom that tend to stay fairly warm even with the fan running. Most of the year, that’s probably not an issue, but in early June it was a little warm.

It's never totally comfortable renting a place sight unseen, despite pictures and reviews. However, you can be comfortable renting this condo from Holly. Communication was quick. The condo was better than the pictures and reviews.
As others have stated, it is FULLY stocked with beach and kitchen needs. The ocean (and turtles!) are mere steps away.
The only downside we found was when checking out - only because you can't stay there forever!

One of the best and most beautiful properties we have stayed at ever! Nice quiet condo right on the ocean (especially for listening to the wonderful waves and watching the surfers) with all the amenities needed. This was a great place to work or launch from to explore the island. We stayed in and cooked most nights and the kitchen had everything we needed and more. Holly was a great host and her communication was always informative and prompt. We will be back for sure!

Holly's place is amazing and as described - a beautiful, newly refinished two bed condo overlooking a small beach where surfers rode a nice point break in Halualoa Bay. We really enjoyed just hanging on the lanai, drinking mai tais, and watching the surfers and occasional spinning dolphins!
The location is ideal - walking distance to nearby sandy beaches, coffee shops, watering holes, and (if you're more adventurous) downtown Kona about 2 miles away.

We stayed in this beautiful condo for a little over 3 weeks from mid-November to the first part of December. It was everything advertised and more! What few minor problems we encountered upon arrival were dealt with immediately by Holly and her staff. We so enjoyed watching the surfers every morning and loved our evening sunsets on the lanai. We had friends join us for two separate weeks and they loved it as well. I would thoroughly recommend this condo to anyone looking for a first class, upscale place to stay!
