The place is clean and the furniture is comfortable. The view is fantastic and you can walk all of Kona from this location with no problem. Given the close location to all the bars and shops it is still a very quiet place where the only noise you will hear is the waves of the ocean.
Everything was working when we were there including the AC unit.
If you are planning on cooking a lot you may want to bring some spices from home but they have all the pots, pans, plates you would need for cooking.
It was a little musty smelling but I think that is a given as it is right on the water. There is a privacy screen front door you can keep open and if you leave the slider open it clears out well. This is what all the neighbors do as well.
There is no fan I’m the bathroom so i would recommend bringing some poop-pourei and you can move one of the fans near the bathroom to clear out any lingering smell or dampness from taking a shower.
Laundry and trash are on the same level next to the stairs and elevator which is convenient. The pool was very nice and was almost never busy.
You will see a lot of wildlife in the lava rocks below and just out front your view.
I would definitely stay here again and think this place would be a win for anyone. Thumbs up on this place.

The crashing sound of the waves! Wow you can't be any closer - just a short walk to downtown to access excellent food, farmer's market, a great walk along the water. Easy access to snorkeling beaches. Nice to have beach towels, chairs. Visiting the pool overlooking the water is refreshing.

Loved it for the most part. Would have loved having a blender for smoothies and frapes. It was wonderful hearing the waves but couldn;t have the doors/windows open because we had to close them so the air conditioners would have worked.

Overall happy with condo but smelled musty. A/C system was not working effectively given how humid it was. Carpet into bedroom was wet from humidity or system not working properly. System outdated. Very tired looking bathtub. Aside from the mustiness, didn't mind age of everything as it was clean and great location.

Falling asleep every night to the sound of the waves crashing was a wonderful treat. The condo had all of the items you could need for a fun vacation. Great location for walking to all the restaurants and shops.

Condo is RIGHT on the ocean, location is amazing! Interior is tired but adequate — “air conditioning” means two noisy portable units for condo as regular A/C seems to be permanently out of order. Linens, bedding and bed are well-lived in. Nice pool area right on the ocean, and very close by to lots of great restaurant and bar options.

This is our second time staying at Hale Kona Kai and are already making plans to come back next year.

We got the e- regarding air conditioning being out and decided to try it with multiple fans. It was too hot for these Alaskans. The staff was very understanding and worked with us. They gave us 20% off. We checked out early and went to the adjacent hotel for about the same price. The company we booked with was very understanding and refunded our payment. Grateful that I didn't have to fight for the refunded. I will consider them again in the future.

This property really delivered. It is in an awesome location, walkable to several restaurants and bars along the ocean. The interior is definitely outdated, but with waves literally feet outside our window, it was super easy to look right past that. The check in process was a piece of cake, and the unit was well stocked with towels and things we needed. The AC runs well with everything closed up (though again, why pass up the sounds of waves through open windows to put you to sleep?). The pool on site was well maintained and uncrowded and serene/relaxing.

We have been coming to Kona for years and staying at the HaleKonaKai. It's our chance to escape the Alaska winters and enjoy the beauty and warmth of Hawaii.
Unit 304 is our favorite, with comfortable furnishings and well stocked kitchen
The view from our lanai is amazing!
The grounds and pool area are immaculate.
The staff has always been helpful with any problems that arise

The location is perfect, with all condominiums perched on the ocean. Very convenient to downtown, restaurants, bars, beaches and shops. The condo was clean and comfortable, and well stocked with cookware, utensils, and small appliances.

This condo building has the best location in Kona. You can walk to downtown and all the best restaurants. #304 was right on the waters edge just like the pictures showed. Sunsets were amazing. There is a nice pool with great ocean views. The condo had everything we needed including beach chairs and coolers. It was very quiet from next door neighbors but you can hear people walk in the unit directly above. Tina was very helpful and welcoming. Helps to have someone onsite.
