The property was perfect for our group of 12. Excellent location, beautiful ocean front, with a fabulous lanai for our use. Central to our needs allowing us to go either Wailea, Lahaina, or Paia with little travel time. Half an hour from the airport for easy access. Our host Ed was very responsive before and during our stay. I would recommend highly for a large group.

We selected this home to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with our kids and grandkids, and it was all we had hoped for!! This property was just as beautiful as depicted!! Well appointed home decorated with impeccable taste, with space galore. Our family of 12 was comfortable, inside and out. The beds are wonderful, and the bathrooms were exceptionally roomy. Plenty of quality kitchen wares and dining service. The VIEW across the wide lawn to the Pacific is a feast for the eyes!! Kids of all ages loved the huge lawn for playtime, the private pool, and of course our own stretch of beach. We loved spotting the sea turtles! Very close to attractions, restaurants and shopping, yet in a secluded setting. We reported one non-functioning coffeemaker, and it was immediately replaced with a new one, along with warm malasadas! We left with full hearts and precious memories!!!!

This is the second time my family has stayed here. Such a wonderful set up for large families. We appreciate the privacy, pool, and outdoor space. The bedrooms were comfortable and clean. From when we arrived and met the wonderful property manager, Mike, to when we sadly left, it was an incredible visit. The spacious home easily fitted all 14 of us, the kitchens amenities were great, but the best was stepping out to the pool area where we gathered and enjoyed the magnificent sunsets. We’d swim in the pool or wander down to “our” beach, and the grandkids had such fun playing tag on the huge lawn.

We have stayed in several VRBO’s on Maui but this home was amazing. The home, the pool, the lawn leading out to what was almost your own private beach, more than met our expectations. Great whale watching, turtle watching. Surf is always calm enough for paddle boards and parents felt safe for the young kids out in the ocean. It is close to snorkeling spots and beaches with larger waves. They provide some water shoes or bring your own as you will need them out in the water. I could go on but for our large family this was a great location. I do have to mention the sunsets were beautiful.

We were a family group of 11 adults. The house was just as expected. Bonuses were snorkel gear, lots of beach towels and reef shoes. The beach our front was very rocky/coral-ly so you will need them.
Big nature bonus was the sea turtles coming up on the beach nightly at sunset.
"Maui"Mike, the caretaker, was a wealth of info and checked in frequently and became part of the family.
All around a fabulous holiday. My only little suggestion would be the have the pool heated, which I know would be pricey, but at least have a solar cover for it. It was disappointingly too chilly for us to use.
If you are going to Maui this is the place to stay!

Two families, 13 people, stayed in this wonderful beachside home for a wedding. It was ideal. Everyone enjoyed the pool, enough patio space for outside dinner and dancing. 4 Generations gathered and a great time was had by all. Only thing that would have made it better was if the property was not actually 2 connected ones. We missed a lot of together time with the two kitchens, two living rooms, two dining rooms.
We had one family arrive early and they saw a turtle on the shore but we did not see any others during our 5 days there. Did not see whales - I believe they are more plentiful closer to and north of Lahaina.
The house is far enough away from the beach that the sound of waves is faint. Big rocks in the water are plentiful and snorkeling was not good while we were there. The water was cloudy as lots of sand churns up as the small waves hit the rocks.
We were there to be together and had several outings scheduled and the house served us well.

The house worked very well for the 9 of us. It was well stacked with dishes, etc. The location was wonderful, short walk over the grass to the beach. The house needs a little TLC, for example a towel rack was coming out of the wall, the AC did not work in one of the bedrooms, one of the toilets made a loud noise and the cushions to the outdoor furniture looked as though they needed cleaning. Just noticed that some of the items seemed to be needing to be replaced. These things did not bother us or take away from our time there, they were small maintenance issues. It was a great place to stay and we enjoyed our time there very much. Mike the caretaker was fabulous and very helpful!

We just finished up a week with our entire family (including two toddlers and an infant). Ed’s place worked out wonderfully for our crowd and the vast, spacious grassy lawn turned out to be the biggest hit of all. The fact that it led to a perfectly sandy beach was even better. We had a wonderful stay at this property. It was comfortable, spacious, relaxing, and particularly well suited to our extended family group. The two sides of the house are connected through a bedroom. So, while we were all together, it provided some separation between between the early risers and those who wished to sleep longer. The dining spaces were spectacular--we had two spaces inside that each seated our entire party of 14 (including 3 small children). Outside dining was beautiful. The views were amazing--the distance to the beach is not as long as you would think from the photos. While some of the finishes were older (kitchen cabinets for instance) the kitchen was well equipped and functional. Having two refrigerators was great! There were comfy beds, plenty of towels, and lots of play equipment. While not necessarily as fancy as some of high end resorts we've stayed in, we much preferred the comfort and privacy of this property.

We loved this home, and it did feel like our home away from home. The view is outstanding. Of the many pictures we took, half of them were of the view and the beautiful sunsets. There was plenty of room for all 12 of us. The bedding and towels were comfortable. The air conditioning in each room satisfied each of us. We used the pool and pool toys every day. We also rented kayaks and stand up paddle boards to use on the ocean at the beautiful beach in front of the house. We would love to return someday.

We had 6 adults, 4 kids, and we fit perfectly. The house is just as shown in the pictures. The large grass area was perfect for the kids and adults to run and play games. The separation between the two units is just enough to provide some privacy while still making it very easy to go between and feel like you're all together. Great large outdoor table to enjoy the views and amazing sunsets.
We saw sea turtles on every one of our evening walks.
This was our first time staying in Kihei - the only thing we noticed was that is does get a bit windier in the afternoons vs. the Kaanapali side of the island. (Not sure if that's year-round or just happened to be when we were there). We just planned our beach time earlier in the day and pool time in the afternoons. It worked out great. Wish we were still there!!

I brought my entire family here, most of them this being the first time in Hawaii. The Kapu Beachfront property was spectacular. Everything was just as advertised or better. My grandchildren spent hours at the beach or in the pool. The grounds are spacious and immaculately landscaped. Anything and erverything you need for a large group is provided. With six bedrooms and bathrooms it easily accommodated the 12 of us.
I highly recommend this location and would gladly return in the future!!!!

We visited for a family vacation. There were 11 of us. Plenty of space for all. The only unexpected was that a bedroom connects the two sides of the house. The kids got assigned that room. Another Magical Time on Maui; That pretty much sums it up. This is our fifth trip to Maui, second time at Kapu Place, and the first time in this particular house. It has been our privilege to take our kids and grandkids with us, and over the years as our family has grown, our need for larger accommodations has grown as well. And while all of the places that we have stayed at have been wonderful, this one has been the best. The location is terrific with ocean views through the palm trees truly amazing, especially early mornings and sunsets. And tons of lawn to play most any sport on. The house itself is set up so that there are large congregating / eating areas to more than accommodate the eleven of us, and yet private areas as well for personal space. Several of the bedrooms have wonderful ocean views, and are quite spacious. Beds are heavenly comfortable and large. The bathrooms, six all together, are also spacious with lots of drawers and cabinets for storage. Both kitchens have excellent appliances including very large commercial type refrigerator / freezers, and are well stocked with plates, glasses, and silverware, along with cooking pots, pans, and bowls. The men in our family are serious cooks, and we found nothing lacking. The patio and pool areas are just a couple steps through the large sliding glass doors, and the six burner BBQ cooks like a dream. There are bins of various beach and pool equipment, as well as several beach chairs and boogie boards. The entire property is meticulously maintained, and the owner, Keith, and manager Mitzi are an absolute pleasure to work with. In short, staying here meant we didn’t have any worries about the accommodations, or really anything to distract us from totally enjoying the magical beauty that is Maui.

We rented this fantastic property for our wedding week, and it was AMAZING! The house is actually two condos which has been converted to one big house. The nature of the split makes it so the two houses are still mostly split, with a passthrough bedroom in the middle. This worked out so well for our group. One side of the house was where the quieter half of the family slept, and since we had vegetarians over there, it meant they had their own kitchen to do as they pleased with. It was a perfect retreat space for people who wanted to remove themselves from the hustle and bustle of wedding prep a bit, but still be on the scene for the action. We used the sliding glass doors out back to go between the houses so the passthrough bedroom remained private.
Honestly, it was such a wonderful vacation, the house had everything we needed, and it held our whole family, plus a small gathering for the wedding and reception with ease. The kitchen was perfect for our chef to cook up delicious food, with plenty of serving utensils and plates to feed the whole fam. The pool out back was wonderful fun and we had lots of good times playing and cavorting in it.
The real treat was the backyard though. Everyone took long walks to the ocean to enjoy the sea breezes and wade in the surf - we had numerous reports of people seeing sea turtles too! Such good luck! From the back of the house, the gorgeous green lawn, speckled with waving palms leading out to the sea was a magnificent vista where we watched the sun rise every morning. We were married in the backyard there under the trees, and it was like being in a natural cathedral. Having this unique, intimate venue made our dream wedding possible. Our guests were stunned and said it looked like a fairy tale wedding. I can tell you that I felt like a fairy princess getting married among our dearest loved ones in that wondrous place. We are so grateful, and forever will be, for the experience that staying here and getting married here gave us. I truly believe that land is magical and will bring blessings to anyone lucky enough to stay there. Mahalo for everything to wonderful owner Keith, who made it all possible and was very easy to plan with and prompt with managing our payments and sending back our deposit too!

I was responsible for organizing a trip for ten adult friends who enjoy ‘group’ vacations. We looked at many houses on VRBO, and selected this Maui house. As the leader, I hoped that everyone would find the house ok, but the reaction of my friends says it all. We can’t say enough about our stay at this Maui property. The listing was accurate. It was wonderful, and the house exceeded our expectations. Totally clean and comfortable. The rooms for the singles and the couples were perfect, and having 6 bathrooms for 6 bedrooms was really a plus. It was the additional, unexpected features of this house that made it exceptional. One small, but perfect example are the bath and hands towels. They were of the finest quality, and a good supply in the bathrooms. And then, you open the closet, and there are plenty more. Other small touches, like the supply of beach towels at each patio door, was a really smart idea. And the elegance of the home was really impressive. I thought the art and decor exceeded my expectations for a rental home. The setting, with the giant lawn leading to the beach is so beautiful. Whether we were sitting on the lanai around the double dining tables with comfy chairs, watching the sunset, or grabbing the plentiful sand chairs and heading to the beach, the grounds are nothing but perfect. You’ll benefit from the provided water socks on the rocky bottom of the ocean (I brought my own, too), but that NEVER stopped anyone from a nice swim. The beach is perfect for a nice walk. And I would be remiss to not mention the friendly and helpful phone conversations that I had with the owner, Keith. It only took a call or two to get my few questions answered, and in each case, Keith was helpful, friendly and patient. Aloha and Mahalo, Keith, for a great experience!

Eleven of us traveled to Maui to celebrate my parent's 50th wedding anniversary, we could not have picked a better property. It was simply perfect. All 6 rooms were clean, there were plenty of bath towels, blankets, choice of pillows, lots of beach chairs, boogie boards, two kitchens, two sets of washer and dryer, etc. I highly recommend this home for big groups - accommodates all age ranges.
