Overall a great place to stay.... my only complaints would be the couch needs replacement, and the washer only fits 2 towels, so it was easier to hand wash and dry outside. Plenty of beach equipment, and loved the ocean front access. Sleeps 5 comfortably.

Location could not be beat. Went mid- February peak whale season and would watch whales breaching and playing all day from the lanai. Nice lawn for kids to play. Pool and putting green were also great activities on-site for kids. Good snorkeling off the beach at the resort south of the condo. Saw sea turtle and tons of fish.

We had a fantastic time at this location. Patio is located on ground about 50 feet from ocean. Grass outside patio actually made entry easy from ocean side. Beach is only about 100 feet from patio. Views were great. Unit was clean, quite and well stocked. Spacious enough for a longer stay. Walking distance to food trucks and a few restaurants. Easy to get in and out of property. Would stay here again.

We enjoyed our time in Maui so much, and this property was a huge factor. The unit was spacious with more than enough room for our family of 5. The amenities on site were great and the property in general was kept up very well. A mere 20 steps out the living room door and you are at the beach! The unit is perfect for watching sunsets, 20 more steps and you are on the sand for beach walks at low tide, and the turtles!!!! It’s a huge challenge to keep things sparkling clean in Maui…that’s the trade off for being on the beach. All in all, the property could have been cleaner, but we never felt uncomfortable and understand the struggle given the tropical environment. I would highly recommend this property for your family Maui vacation. It was perfect for us!

The way I would describe this property is barebones and basic. It is very close to the ocean and that is nice. That’s about the only good thing I have to say about this condo. There is air-conditioning but it is one small window unit that cools one room, kind of. The bedrooms were sweltering and miserable. There is a washing machine but it holds a total of three thin hotel towels at a time. For a place that allegedly sleeps seven people, that seems ridiculous. And there is no way seven people can fit in that place. The sofa bed is awful and the double in the second bedroom barely seems big enough for me person. We bought a queen size air mattress and put it on the floor and it was the most comfortable bed in the house.Along those lines, for a house that sleeps seven people, there were three beach towels. Not seven. Three. There were no beach chairs. The lighting was atrocious. The master bathroom may as well be completely in the dark. There are very few lights. The ground floor is nice for ocean access, but due to the absurd amount of heat we had to sleep with the windows open, which would probably be OK if there weren’t drunk and loud people who did not observe quiet hours at all.

Fantastic location!!. Resort had 2 pools and spas with great grassy areas.
Owner was responsive and helpful when we asked about beach towels. Had boogie board, cooler, and sand toys.
Fold out couch mattress smelt bad and was unusable so we bought a blow up mattress at Target. No biggie $20.

The price was a little high, but that is COVID. The view from the unit was great. We watched whales breaching daily. Take you binoculars!
Nice and well cared for two bed, two bath unit. About 100 feet to a sea wall, it much beach. Several public beaches close by. Very quiet location.

Both rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and back porch were dirty, full of dirty dishes, towels on the floor and dirty sheets on the bed. The cloths dryer full of lint in the filter, dirt on all the fan blades and bathroom fan covers, a lot dirt under the beds, food found in the pull out bed and low on toilet paper. I can forward photos if requested.

We had an excellent stay. This property was perfect for us. Many places nearby for groceries, coffee, and restaurants within walking distance, as well as beach right next door.
There were no beach towels when we arrived, and we had to wait 2 days before they were delivered, though. Otherwise it was great.

Such a great time for me and my 4 kids. Plenty of things to use in the condo and great access to everything around our resort.
Positives: fantastic location, shuffleboard, mini golf, pool, grills, ok snorkeling in front, sea turtle in front, beautiful sunsets, condo had nearly everything we needed, and special touches.
Not so positives: mosquitoes, but the resort sprayed and they were mostly gone, small shower pressure low, coffee carafe always spilled, neighbors are around and can be noisy in morning or everyone enjoying our location/view so there's always people around, registration didn't get email from owner so we spent 20min waiting then 20min checking in, entry door lock needs a special twist or front door is unlocked.

This property is wonderfully located on the water. Peaceful sitting outside watching the sun set. It is a walk down a couple hotels for a sandy beach. It is very conveniently located near several food trucks ,and the grocery store and several informal restaurants are an easy walk. The kitchen is well stocked allowing for in-condo meals which saved lots of time at breakfast!

We are a family of 5 and this condo was perfect for us because everyone had their own bed. The view is gorgeous and we were able to see turtles swimming right in front of the ocean wall.

Papakea is a fabulous resort to stay at when visiting Maui, but condo conditions vary by owner. We have stayed at Papakea in quite a number of condos and prefer the L building. We also prefer a floor other than ground as the views are better. L105 in particular is "ok" but it was not cleaned when we arrived and is in need of a deep cleaning. We had to clean it ourselves. Also, the front desk did not have notice that we were checking in, which was disconcerting, but all worked out ok. All in all, I would stay at Papakea again but look for another unit.

We returned to the Papakea Resort after last staying there in November 2018. We opted for a larger condo, and this one fit the bill. Spacious, nicely furnished, really comfortable beds, and a well stocked kitchen with bone china dishware. Who puts bone china in a vacation rental????? Bonnie let us stay on for an extra 4 hours, as we had an overnight flight home. Four stars instead of five due to some repairs needing to be done and trouble getting both TVs to work, and stay working. Papakea Resort is simply paradise on earth!!!

The location of this unit is awesome. It is tired and needs a paint job, new king size mattress and bedding and curtains! The kitchen is very nice and well equipped. It just feels like nobody has cared for the unit for awhile.

Beautiful view and so close to Ocean. Loved watching the whales from Lanai. Well stocked condo, great for a family. Very nice grounds, staff was generally polite and helpful with exception of one staff member that would be very rude to kids playing in the pool, stating they were not allowed to have any toys in pool and must whisper only, difficult to have a 3 yr. old whisper only! Other than that we loved our stay. Great location close to Whalers village and Lahaina.

The code to open the front door of the unit did not work at the time of arrival (later we found that battery had died). We called and left a couple of VM's to owner (it was on Christmas day). Luckily we figured a way to enter into the unit else the entire trip might have gotten ruined. We got our second scare when the remote to turn on the air conditioner did not work but luckily the manual options worked and breathed a sigh of relief as it was quite hot on that day. Everything was great once we got past these 2 issues. The place along with the view of the ocean was amazing. W/D in the init was convenient. We found everything that we needed and wanted in the bathrooms and kitchen.
Overall - Two Thumbs up.
