We have been staying at Papakea for the past few years and love the location. Our unit in building A was just steps from the ocean. The condo was nicely furnished with updated decor in a Hawaiian theme-none of your aunties hand me down furnishings in this place! The mattress was firm (maybe a bit too firm, but a foam topper would be a nice add on for aging backs), the kitchen was well stocked with necessities for meal prep, but you need to supply your own condiments, etc. The property manager, Barbara, was wonderful to work with--very responsive to a minor issue with the toilet, and she had great follow up. I would stay in this unit again, if available.

My husband and I had a lovely stay! The condo was in a great location and had a beautiful view of the ocean. It was nice to be on the first floor and be able to walk out to the ocean in seconds. The condo was clean and had everything we needed in it, even snorkel gear and beach chairs!

This unit is the best location! The grass outside is perfect for the kids to play! It's on the far side of the property so there is tons of privacy. The unit was clean and comfortable. The air condition add to the bedroom was a must! It had everything we needed for the week. Barbara was very communicative and went out of her way to make sure we had the prefect stay. I have stayed at Papakea many many times and will stay with Barbara again!

Ground floor and ocean front is a magnificent way to spend time on Maui, rain or shine. Access to small beach is steps away. Corner unit has lots of light and ocean view from the living room couch. Well stocked unit with cooking items and towels.

We absolutely loved our stay at Papakea! It was located in a beautiful community that provided lots of opportunities to relax, swim, play shuffleboard, snorkel, and just relax.
Barbara was a thoughtful communicator, giving us just what we needed to enjoy the area. Her check in directions were perfect.
The condo was just amazing. It was so clean and had everything we needed (including a blender for morning smoothies). The bed and pillows were so comfy!
We experienced no less than 25 whale sightings one morning and another 15 the next. It was so cool! Right from the lawn behind the condo.
Without hesitation, we would go back again!

We have been to Maui 10 times and this is our favorite place, Good location, close to Lahaina and the beaches next door, while providing a quieter, more relaxed ambiance. We loved the location of this unit. It is steps from the beach and being the corner unit we only had a neighbor on one side and people weren’t usually on the lawn in front of our patio. It was great sitting out in the mornings and evenings having coffee or cocktails watching the ocean and sunset. The unit had everything we needed. We would definitely stay there again.

My two teen grandchildren and I stayed at this condo for 8 days. The condo is comfortable and has all the necessary amenities. We did not do a lot of cooking, but the kitchen was convenient for breakfast and lunch making. It is very close to The Fish Market (one block) which became one of our favorite places for lunch or dinner. Also close to the food trucks if you want something quick after a long day of hiking or snorkeling. We enjoyed eating at Dukes, Hula Girl and Sansei. We also attended the Royal Lahaina Luau which everyone enjoyed. There are several beach chairs and boogie boards to use. The kids enjoyed playing shuffleboard and swimming in the pool.
One of the best things Is. being able to just step out on the patio and view the ocean. The sunsets are magnificent.

This property has an amazing ocean front view and sounds of the ocean. It could use some updating with furniture (or at least clean what is in there), and the unit wasn't very clean when we arrived. Had to dry the blanket to the bed left in the dryer and make up the sofa bed outselves.

Barbara’s condo is fantastic! We love Papakea and have stayed in another condo on the property, but A109 is the best! The proximity to the water can’t be beat and the amenities in the condo are perfect, more than enough for an enjoyable stay. I had been concerned that being next to the path to the beach would be noisy but it was so quiet and peaceful. The condo was clean (no bugs, unlike another condo we’d stayed in) and Barbara was easy to communicate with. You can tell she takes pride in her condo.
As far as Papakea is concerned, we love the grounds for their peaceful, beautiful atmosphere. After venturing onto other resort properties to check them out we decided that Papakea is too lovely to venture from for our Maui stays.
We cannot wait to return to room A109 in Papakea!

The unit is steps from the ocean and incredible views. There were a few hiccups as the unit was not ready at checkin time and pool towels were not given, but the owner got on the phone and took care of everything. My family had a great stay enjoying the beach and the pool which was just a short walk away. Not only that one of the days by the pool there were free mai tais, snacks, music, and hula show. It really made Maui that much more fun.

This was our fifth time to “A” building at Papakea (obviously we love it there) but our first time in this unit. A-109 is a superbly situated well equipped unit. Being ground floor and on the end offers so many benefits. Its so nice to be able to park close and unload groceries (or luggage) from the car and right into the door. No long treks or stair climbs. Not to mention the ease of being able to walk right out the back slider, through your own lanai/patio, onto the manicured grass and right to the waters edge! It is a very peaceful and relaxing spot. Its hard to beat sitting on the lanai with a cup of coffee in the morning listening to the birds and watching the waves. Barbara was great to coordinate with and very helpful. We had a great trip and we’d love to stay there again in the future!

I loved this condo! Best condo in the resort. It was on the end and very easy access to my car. Made you feel like you had a little more privacy than the rest of the resort. Beautiful views! Very close to stores if anything was needed. I would stay here again when I go back to Hawaii.

This unit at Papakea was exactly as pictured and described, it met all of our expectations, and then some! We always had a place to park, restaurants & grocery stores are within walking distance, the grounds are well maintained, the pool and spa were very clean and refreshing. Right outside the unit, there is a walkway directly to the ocean for putting our toes in the sand, wading & snorkeling. We stayed in late March, and from the patio we saw whales every day, bright stars each evening and on the last day a beautiful rainbow! The unit was clean, very well stocked w/all the essentials, including beach chairs, a boogie board and snorkeling gear. The ceiling fans provided the perfect amount of air circulation, the hand-held shower head and water pressure were great, plenty of room in the fridge & freezer, which also had an ice-maker! Barbara was very responsive from beginning to end, I didn't have many questions because her communication is very thorough.. I would absolutely reserve with Barbara again!

Barbara made the whole process of renting this property so easy. Whenever we had questions and reached out we had a response almost immediately. We came to Maui to get married and have as little stress as possible with the wedding/vacation and Barbara definitely helped with keeping it stress free in regards to the vacation aspect. I would recommend friends or family to stay in this condo for multiple reasons… it has amazing oceans views, beach gear to use if needed/desired (we spent quite a bit of time at DT Fleming Beach), and the condo seemed to be newly updated throughout. The only thing that we did notice that would need improvement was the WiFi. We did not mention anything during our stay because we unplugged from reality so it was not a big deal at all. Overall, it was an amazing experience and we can’t wait to come back sometime soon!

Great location to sit on the lanai sip mai tais, watch whales, sunsets, paddle boarders, kayakers, ever changing views of Molokai and more. If the tide is right, there’s a small sandy beach right in front. Condo is close to boardwalk for jogging & walking and getting to numerous restaurants, beaches and shopping.

It was nice to be on the ground floor u til the rains started. The lanai is unusable in the rain and the mud splashes on to the patio. Maybe a better mat outside and one for inside would help. Otherwise unit had everything g we needed!

The property was just as advertised and we really enjoyed it. Good location although there is not a sand beach in front we utilized the nice lawn. The condo is perfect for two and was very clean and well furnished. We would return here.

We had a very relaxing week at this condo. The grassy area our front was perfect for our 10 month old to play on. The unit had everything we needed, and was close to grocery and restaurants. We loved having lunch at the fish market across the street! The pool and hot tub area were really nice as well. My only suggestion to the owner is add a shelf or shower caddy into the shower to hold toiletries. We hope to return again soon! Thank you for a lovely vacation.

Loved the location, on the end of all the condos and easy access to a very , very small piece of sand before the ocean. Quiet, beautiful grounds that are well maintained. The condo needs updating. The bed , though comfortable, has lost all support on sides. Sofa needs replaced. Washer dryer combo ruined several brand new shirts. The staff came right away when notified. The cleaning is sup par. Maybe this is normal for the area? Found mold in 2 tall plastic cups ( were probably stacked together when still wet. The top edge of base molding was full of dirt- I cleaned some myself just so we didn’t have to look at it. Hair on bathroom floor when we arrived. Long and short curly- not ours. Kitchen floor had grease or something completely covering it. Slimy. Had to wash it myself just because it felt gross to walk on. The shower has nothing to put soap, shampoo etc on. We turned a glass upside down and rested our soap on it on the shower floor. Used a cup on the floor to hold shampoo, conditioner and razor.
I would suffer a folding drying rack for hanging clothes that need air dried. Also- the bedroom was very warm. We tried routing the cold air with the 2 fans provided- but was still uncomfortable for sleep. Would I stay again? Maybe.…. but would know what to expect. The host was very kind and responsive. Maui is beautiful. This condo is nicely tucked away from the bigger hotel like places. All in all had a nice vacation there.

Despite some little mishaps we had with the toilet leakage and dryer not working, we loved the place. We enjoyed having coffee every morning on the lanai and watching the sunset just steps outside of the condo. The one negative thing I do have to say about the place is the bed. We slept in it one night and we both had back and neck pains. We opted to sleep the rest of our week stay on the pullout couch which wasn’t that much better but bearable. Barbara was a great host and responded quickly to all our concerns and issues.

We loved the place. The beach is just a few feet away. There were beach chairs, towels, beach umbrellas provided. One thing to notice is that the air conditioner is not in the bedroom, it’s only in the living room. There were fans in the bedroom which made it better. Overall it was great.

Our family was blown away by the location and convenience of this condo. Steps to the ocean, our teenager enjoyed snorkeling first thing in the morning and I loved hearing (and seeing) the ocean while in the kitchen and living room. This was our first time in Maui and the condo certainly contributed to our family falling in love with the island. Barbara was fantastic to work with and her immediacy concerning questions about our stay exceeded expectations and helped us prepare accordingly for our vacation. We look forward to returning soon and enjoying this amazing condo again.

My family and I loved staying at the Papakea resort and in Barbara's condo. I especially loved getting to drink my coffee in the mornings watching and listening to the waves crash right outside our condo. The amenities were also wonderful. My kids and I played pickle ball for the first time and loved playing shuffle board/putting as the sun set. We would absolutely stay here again.

We stayed for five days at this clean, well-stocked condo. It was fabulous! We enjoyed watching the sunset from the lanai every night. The condo is well stocked with a full kitchen, beach chairs, a cooler, and beach towels are also provided for your stay. The AC in the living room - or simply keeping the door open and letting the ocean breeze in - helped us stayed cool even in the summer. We saw a turtle while swimming only steps from the condo! Keep in mind the tide comes right up to the ocean wall, so there is not a sandy beach, but you have access via stairs to the water. Within short driving distance to amazing snorkeling and beaches. Highly recommend!

We stayed here 10 years ago and came back for our 50th wedding anniversary celebration. Would highly recommend it to everyone. It's peaceful and quiet and yet close to so much. Sit on furnished lawn chairs, right on the ocean, and enjoy spectacular sun sets. So nice to have a fully stocked kitchen so you don't have to 'eat out' all the time. Great for cutting up and enjoying fresh pineapples!
Staff is very accommodating. 2 pools, barbeque grills available to use, koi ponds, great lenei (spelling?) for sitting outside.
Highly recommend anyone staying here!

We have been coming to Papakea for over 15 years and this is our second year in this unit. It is well stocked, has a comfortable bed, and with the unit on the ground floor, and the patio on the shady side in the afternoons, the unit is relatively cool without having to use the Air conditioning.
Barbara, the owner is helpful, is always available and if there are any issues responds quickly.
If you are looking for an uncrowded, family, quiet, but beautiful resort this is the place. We do enjoy this unit and would certainly recommend it as well as the Papakea resort.

Thank you so much for allowing my family (me, my husband and 2 small kids) to stay at your place. We absolutely loved it and it was complete paradise. With your reasonable prices and amenities--kitchen, laundry, and extra pull-out bed--it allowed us to have a vacation of a lifetime. We loved the ground floor unit for our kids. The communication with the owner was awesome and very assuring as it was the first-time using VRBO or a similar site. We loved all of the recommendations we received. We enjoyed the condo very much, especially sitting on the lani in the evening. There are a few minor fixes in the condo that need to be addressed but nothing that will stop you from having a great time. The condo was clean, the bed was comfy and we had plenty of towels for our stay. We've stayed at the Papakea several times over the years, we've never been disappointed. The resort is very nice, the grounds are well manicured and everyone at the Papakea is very friendly. The location is great, Its an easy walk to the nearby supermarket and restaurants. Whalers Village and Lahaina are just down the road. You won't be disappointed!

This unit has a very comfy bed! Slept like babies. Loved the access to all that Papakea has to offer. Close to parking lot and because it's on the ground level you could just walk out onto the lanai and straight to the pool or putting green. Would stay here again.
