The unit was nice; we’ve stayed there before. The location and views from the property can’t be beat. James was an awesome host, and beyond helpful when we had to adjust our stay/dates. Made sure we were able to check in to the unit and made himself available if we ever had questions. We always enjoy staying at the Whaler and will definitely go back again.

The condo itself was great. We are a family of 5. Having two bathrooms and a full kitchen made our vacation infinitely better. The murphy bed meant that everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. The wrap-around lanai was spacious and had great views. 3rd floor location meant short elevator rides, or stairs.
Jim was a very accommodating host and checked in to ensure we were comfortable and happy with the unit, before, during, and after our stay. He went above and beyond.
We would stay in this unit again if/when we return to Maui!

The Whaler’s proximity to Kaanapali Beach and Whalers Village makes it one of the best properties on Maui’s northwestern shore. James was a most gracious host. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. When I book a VRBO, location and testimonials about the owner, are my top 2 considerations. This condo does not disappoint in either regard.

The condo was as shown on VRBO. Although located in the back of the property we had an enormous lani with views of the beach. Condo was very well equipped with beach supplies and extra towels. It is also very convenient to Whalers village. Whaler offers free beach chairs with other items for rent. James was a perfect host, who stayed in constant, text, contact. We would stay here again!

We were very happy with all aspects of this fully stocked condo in addition to its convenient location. The view was spectacular and wrap around lanai added so much outdoor light and airiness to the living and dining areas. My family with young also enjoyed the pool and proximity to beach as well as its access to Whalers Village. A good time was had by all! Thank you to James who ensured all questions were answered and was so very accommodating. We will return!

This unit has everything I needed for our stay. There are beach chairs and coolers to sit on the beach. The kitchen has everything we needed. Having the corner unit means a bigger balcony. Beautiful views of the ocean and hills. The location is perfect and easy to get to if you don’t want to bother with the elevator, the stairs are right there. It was nice to have a washer/dryer in the unit. Jim was so pleasant to talk to and he just really wants his customers to have the best possible vacation and he’ll do anything within his power to do just that for you. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Btw, I had the best night’s sleep in that cozy bed! Thank you, Jim, for your hospitality!

My husband, two children(11 and 12), and I stayed at this property in early August. It is in a prime location and is within walking distance of stores/restaurants and Black Rock to snorkel. Due to storms earlier in the year, many other properties nearby lost their beach. There is an excellent beach in front that we went to daily. We also swam in the pool conveniently located right off the beach. The kitchen is fully stocked, so we could have meals at the condo and enjoy the beautiful ocean view while sitting on the patio. We brought our own snorkel gear, but there are chairs, snorkel gear, an umbrella, and a cooler that are available for use. James Adamson, the owner, contacted us once before we left for Maui and personally explained the check-in process. Then he called the condo unit phone to make sure we had arrived and were satisfied, and then he called us on our last day seeking any feedback on how he could improve things! My husband and I totally loved our stay and had no recommendations on how he could improve the condo! Kaanapali Beach was amazing! Excellent restaurants in walking distance of the condo/resort! We had a great time watching the whales from the lanai! Thank You James for the amazing home away from home!

Nice views from the Lanai. The unit had ample room for 4, and the murphy bed in the living room is a huge upgrade over a fold out couch. The kitchen was well-stocked. We liked the grounds of the Whaler and the proximity to the mall and the beach path. Very convenient underground parking. Generally pretty quiet at night (except for the horn from the sugar cane train). We would definitely look to stay here the next time we are in Maui.

A wonderful week at this property was just not enough. Leaving paradise put a pallor back in my everyday life! Beautiful corner unit on the 3rd floor with everything you need for a home away from home. We kept the sliding doors open the whole time for the sounds of the wind, waves & fountains. The property is located conveniently for evening activities next door at The Whaler or a 5 minute drive to Lahaina. We had great snorkeling right on the beach at Black Rock and swam with sea turtles a 3 minute drive away at Wahikuli Wayside Park. Spend your evenings at the pool & hot tub or enjoy coffee and tea in the lobby throughout the day. Bed & pillows in the master bedroom were spectacular and super convenient to have a washer/dryer in unit. I would definitely visit again!

Steps to the beach and to Whalers Village. Great pool right at the beach with lots of loungers. View of the sunset and Molokai from the big lanai. Very quiet unit. Heard nothing but the crashing waves. Well equipped unit with a comfortable bed and nice big fluffy towels.

This is our 12th Whaler stay and our first booking with Jim in unit 374. His unit was in our top three by far. But, above all else, his follow up, customer service, and aloha spirit is unparalleled. We come annually for 22 years, around the same time, and Jim will be our first call in 2019. He provides everything from pool toys, silverware, dishes, Tupperware, coffee maker, tongs for bbq. The pull out Murphy bed was roomy enough for two adults, so two couples can easily share this unit. The lanai is spacious and wraps around with a garden view and an amazing ocean view. We have many native local friends and treated them to many nights at the bbq while they spear fished and played ukulele and told stories. It was magical. Proximity to whalers is amazing, which is why we stay her so often.....can you say Louis Vuitton with bare, sandy feet? Heaven! 5 stars all around! Thanks, Jim, for everything!

My family has stayed at several different condos at the Whaler for many years. Jame's property has been updated and is very well kept. The Murphy bed is an excellent feature as the bed can be put away in seconds. We will definitely book again. Clark and Heather. Alberta, Canada.

We stayed at this unit in July 2018 and were so happy we did! The unit is nicely decorated, has air conditioning, was very clean and is in the perfect location. It has plenty of room for 4 people to unpack all clothes and toiletries and still have plenty of room. There is a refrigerator and freezer so you can stock up at Costco (same prices as Mainland) right after you land. It is a beachfront property with an amazing ocean view. It’s a quick walk to Whaler’s Village, Blackrock, and more. It’s also a few minutes drive or shuttle (could walk if weather is cool) to the Royal Lahaina luau which was soooo fun!! Old town Lahaina is very close and you can get there by shuttle.
The pool concierges were very friendly and helpful in booking the best (aka most fun!) excursions, guiding us around the island and providing great restaurant recommendations. I would advise calling the Whaler and talking to the concierge before your trip to book some excursions as some were already full the first couple days.
Jim was great to work with and the entire rental process went very smoothly. He really cares and wants his guests to enjoy Maui! Thank you Jim for all your help! We can’t wait to go back and would love to stay in this unit again!

This was our second stay in this unit. We love the location...being on the beach is required for us, third floor is perfect for the view and taking the stairs. We like the convenience to Whaler village, the walk to the end of the beach walk and back to Starbucks in the morning and the short trip to the Kaanapali Beach Hotel Tiki Bar in the afternoon. Jim has it well stocked with amenities that make it feel like home. The large corner lanai makes it roomy and eliminates a neighbor. Both stays we have invited a relative to visit. The accommodations are perfect for that and they loved it too. Monkey Pod Happy Hour has remarkable Mai Tai's and great pot stickers.

We (me, wife and 3 year old boy) just spent 10 days in Maui at The Whaler in unit #374. We absolutely loved the experience! The condo was spacious, has a gorgeous view of the front lawn/garden area and of course the ocean view. Morning coffee on the huge lanai was a treat. We also really liked that there were beach chairs, flippers, umbrellas, etc for our use. There is also a handy Murphy bed in the living room. At 8:30am each morning you can feed the fish in the Koi ponds in the front, a big hit with the kids! The team at the concierge desk were so very helpful, a special shout out to Pierre who helped secure a rental car at a fantastic price and of course is very knowledgeable on all activities on the island.
The location can't be beat. You are only steps to the beach and pool. To the right you are maybe a 10 min walk to amazing snorkeling/swimming at Black Rock. To the left, literally a 5 minute walk to the shops/restaurants of Whalers Village. If you have kids there is a lower court yard where they have a small water park and a climbing structure. On certain nights they have movie night usually kids movies.They also have bus service to the town of Lahania for $2.00. On that same bus route you will find a Safeway which is only about 10 mins into the route.
The owner James was communicative and genuinely wanted us the have a great time. Highly recommended unit for all those reasons above. We will be back for sure!
