The beach directly in front of the Four Seasons Resort Hualālai on the Big Island is known as Kaʻupulehu Beach, a scenic stretch of white sand backed by lava rock along the Kona-Kohala Coast. While the setting is beautiful, the sandy shoreline is relatively narrow and quickly transitions to rocky and coral areas, which can make barefoot entry into the water uncomfortable and swimming less ideal in some spots—water shoes are often recommended. Because of this, guests frequently prefer nearby Kukio Beach, just north of the resort, which offers calmer conditions and better swimming and snorkeling, and frequent sightings of sea turtles and tropical fish.
