We loved our stay in Honokowai! The location of the condo was great--close to many beaches, shopping and restaurants. The condo itself was very nice. It was clean and equipped with anything you could need, from a day at the beach to cooking a family meal. Beds were comfy, view from the balcony was amazing. Staying here was literally the highlight of our trip! The private beach/sand/grass/pool set-up was absolute perfection. Unbelievably peaceful and beautiful. The condo had lots of upgrades and the beds were nicely comfortable. There is no A/C, which we're not used to, but ample fans were provided and we kept the windows open nearly the whole time which was not hard to do with the sound of the ocean so close!

the unit was nice and very comfortable. the kitchen was small and workable. the best part was that we could sit outside and spot whales out far in the ocean.
The only negative was that the glasses and dishes were sparse and not very nice. It would have been great if there was a little better selection of dishware and, more so, glasses.

We enjoyed our stay but it ended in a heavy downpour that left a huge puddle in the downstairs bedroom that flowed into the hallway. The tiles are very slippery when wet so you have to really be careful. Hopefully the deluge we experienced doesn’t happen very often.

Everything was accessible to this property. Groceries, food, and activities were all within walkable distance. Amenities were great. The pool, hot tub, and the beach were well kept and clean. The condo had everything that my group needed to enjoy the beach. (Beach chairs, cooler, floaties, snorkels, umbrellas, and more). The sofa bed was surprisingly very comfortable. I highly recommend this rental property.

This was our first time to Maui. We travelled with other families and liked that we were able to book 2 other units right next to this one. The condo was spacious with great air flow and views. Easy walk to local stores, coffee and food. Beach access was a little challenging because there was a high tide surge right before we got there that washed away quite a bit of sand. But overall, grounds were nice, unit was comfortable.

Enjoyed our 7-night stay at this property. It is ideally located right on the ocean and nearby to shopping and restaurants. The condo has lots of room. All of the appliances worked well and the beds were very comfortable. Everything we needed was provided, such as paper and cleaning products. We spent most of our time enjoying the incredible view from the Lanai. The hosts were very responsive. We would definitely like to return in the future.

Was a bit difficult to keep tile clean with family and beach usage. Did get ants but not very many. There is a swamp cooler in the upstairs loft which helped a lot. Wasn't too bad with a 9mo old, we blocked the stairs and she was fine. Enjoyed the patio and pool a lot. Beach is a bit lower than the wall/grass area from previous pics so some has washed away. Met many nice people while there! Overall was a great stay!

The property was nice, clean and well equipped and in a great location. The grounds of the complex were beautiful and the ocean view was wonderful. The property does not have air conditioning and it was very hot in the condo on the days when we were there. Our host was a great communicator and did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. That said, I do feel the lack of AC should have been pointed out in the listing more prominently. We probably would not have booked this property had we known there was no air conditioning.

This was by far one of the nicest condos we have stayed at. The view from the lanai out over the Pacific was breath taking. Condo is very well furnished. safe area, and the beds were very comfortable with overhead ceiling fans. Condo is well taken care of as is the entire complex. Owner was very accommodating and made sure all of our needs were taken care of. Would definitely stay here again.

The view from the balcony (as well as most of the property) was awesome. The minute we walked in the whole family just said WOW. Loved hearing / seeing the see from the master bedroom also. Nice grounds, pool and beach which despite being in peak season never felt busy. Maybe we were lucky but pretty much every day we would see turtles swimming buy or coming onto the beach for a res. Property location was fantastic. One of the few resorts in the area with a sandy beach. Turtles sunned themselves daily on the shore and swam around in front of the resort quite a bit. Save yourself some $$ and skip the boat charter. Just rent snorkel gear and you will see tons of fish and turtles just off the shore. Masks provided in the unit leaked, but will do in a pinch. Only minor complaint was the temp in the upstairs loft area. It was hot the week we were there. There was a great breeze through the unit with the back and patio doors open, but at night we locked the back door, so no cross breeze. The vent system in the master suite wasn't great. it would be so much better if the window actually opened. Ants were present as expected, but a couple shots of ant killer and keeping everything in the fridge seemed to work fine. On-site property manager was very responsive, friendly and diligent.

This was a perfect condo with a great location. My husband, 12 year old daughter and myself had a blast on the private beach and walking to the nearby shops. This condo was equipped with everything you could possibly need!
I loved that it was on the top floor so we could leave all the windows and doors open all day and night.
We highly recommend this for families or couples.
And if any hiccups occur there is an onsite manager.

This place is fabulous! Looked just like the photos inside the condo and for the 4th floor balcony view. Loved having the private beach and sea turtles who visited every day. Whales were frolicking just about every day too. The condo is well stocked with kitchen items one might need for meal prep over a long stay. Clean, well-maintained, great location, friendly residents/vacationers in the complex. My only feedback to hosts to improve are 1. the front door bolt does not align properly (probably due to the elements warping the door frame), so we could only lock the knob lock. It's an easy fix and we were never worried about safety and security. 2. The pullout couch was also a bit warped (old?) and difficult to put back from bed to couch position every morning. 3. Several items of the snorkeling/beach/pool stored gear were broken or missing parts, so may be a good idea to clean out the closet and remove what's no longer in working condition. With that said, it was GREAT to have a closet full of gear that we could use and did not have to rent or buy! All three mattresses were super comfy and the cross ventilation breezes were magnificent. We will definitely be back next year!

Maui is breath taking and this location is part of that. It is wonderful to have your “own” private beach on property ( all Maui beaches are public owned) so access to this right from our lawn was fantastic. The residential turtles come to the beach daily to sun. We have beautiful views from our lanai to either begin the day with a cup of coffee or end the day with a sunset and wine. The owners are very kind. There were a few glitches during our stay worked out and we believe they were coming directly after us to finalize more. This was not our first time at the location. - so obviously we enjoy it. Mahalo

I was traveling with my wife and both parents. My wife and I slept on the pull out couch. I would recommend the younger people sleep on pull out. The owner was very responsive and made sure to follow up to any questions or concerns. If you like to look at the beach and ocean, I would recommend this place! It was a very easy drive to get into town and to and from the airport.

The best part is that if I had any question or concern, Roy was quick to espouse d to our needs.

Location:
Lots of beaches a short drive away when the private beach was too rough/water too high. Lots of restaurants and take-out options nearby. A few supermarkets nearby. A few walkable options too although the main road was a bit too busy/close to the footpath for us to want to walk with our extra-active 3 year old kid.
Condo:
Very clean, spacious and comfortable with basically everything you would need. The balcony has great view of the waves and Molaka'i Island. There was a huge amount of space and storage in both bathrooms and bedrooms. There was at least one hair straightener and hair-dryer in the place that we found. Not the most child-friendly space with lots of hard surfaces (tiled floors and stairs) but our kid LOVED roaming around the condo which was bigger than the condo we live in at home. The fridge had a very strange lock where you couldn't seem to open it for a minute of so after closing it. The kitchen had everything you would need. The showers were massive with plenty of hot water.
Property:
The grounds and pool were very well kept and beautiful. The live-in residents had happy-hour every night and seemed to be totally comfortable with the vacationers. Seemed to be about 50% regular or live-in residents and 50% vacationers. The beach had a turtle that would regularly be on the sand and 1 or 2 others swimming by occasionally. The waves hitting the reef 100 yards from the private beach were small but actually nice for intermediate-level surfers/paddleboarders when the swell was up. Spent plenty of good times in the pool and hot tub. There were plenty of sun loungers and chairs available for lazing about. Would recommend always having your child in a floaty or life vest while in the garden area if they are not great swimmers.
Thankfully the place had an elevator to get us up and down to the 4th floor promptly during our stay. It always seemed to be available and empty when we needed it. There was ample parking during our stay.

Great property, everything was exactly as described. Views were amazing, close to everything and accommodated six comfortably. The only drawback was that you could hear the traffic in the downstairs bedroom, which at times was loud enough to wake a light sleeper. Luckily, we were so tired from all the fun, sun and adventure that it didn’t take anything away from the trip. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Maui!

I am afraid if I tell you how great this place is it won't be available next time I want to visit! We will never stay in a big box hotel again! Turtles everyday, beautiful views, centrally located near Lahaina. We plan to come back and refer our friends! Thank you! Be aware, it does not have AC, which was warm, but there is a fan on the second floor which helps move air. We were there in August and it did get warm upstairs, but we just slept on top of sheets and opened up the windows and ran ceiling fans. Views, beach, turtles, and happiness of being in Maui make it all ok. Aloha!

Everyone in the building was so nice, very family oriented. So close to the town. Calm water to swim, snorkeling and swimming with the turtles without having to go anywhere else. You can barbecue. A well-appointed condo in a good location, within walking distance to restaurants and groceries, but we chose to drive the half mile or so. Beds are super comfortable and the ocean breeze does a good job of cooling the unit. The kitchen has everything you need. Swaying palms, sparkling ocean, and sojourning turtles on the sandy beach right outside the door. Perfect beach for swimming and some snorkeling. Then relax in the lovely pool in the middle of immaculate grounds and blooming plants. If you want to live in your bathing suit, this is the place! Roy is an attentive and responsive host. We enjoyed our stay here very much and would definitely return.

I’d love to keep this property my family’s little secret but the truth is our family loves this place.
Quiet and very privet beach means no mater what adventure we’ve been on during the day, we always have our own piece of paradise to return to.
This was our third time at this property as we’ve fallen into a bit of a rut. That’s the only downfall of booking a unit at this property. You may find it difficult to look elsewhere for your vacation plans.
We needed a little more space this trip and Unit B402 delivered exactly what we needed and was an absolutely beautiful place to spend the two weeks which went by waaay too quickly.
By the way, their property manager, Lary has been there since our first visit and his smile is contagious.

My fiancé and I went on a week long trip to Maui to celebrate our engagement and this spot could not have been more perfect! The location was a DREAM, the place was clean and easy to find, and the hosts were wonderful. Roy was easy to reach and friendly. The only drawback was a noise complaint from the building manager at 9:15pm that our movie was too loud. A bit of an inconvenience but even that couldn’t bring us down! All necessities were provided — be sure to use that sunscreen or you could get a nasty burn! My honey didn’t and got a nasty burn. Love that place, love Maui, ISLAND LIFE FOREVER!!! Missing paradise, being back in America is a drag.

We loved our stay here. The private beach was a perfect place for our 2 girls and our family. We saw huge turtles almost every day and a monk seal was on our beach. That was pretty amazing to see. We played in the ocean every day and it was nice sitting on the grass watching our girls play and the sunsets were amazing!!
We did learn the first day if you want a prime spot on the grass to get up super early and put your chairs out. Although the rules say you're not allowed to do that, clearly the people who go there often or live there do not follow that rule. We had some attitude from a couple people because apparently we set our chairs in front of them without knowing that it was "their" spot. So I would suggest to break that rule because everybody else does.
The condo itself was nice and clean, maybe could use a few updates, but with that view who really cares. If you are in the loft area, sound does carry and can be a little loud. Also the bedroom by the front door I guess you can hear the garbage trucks in the mornings and is very loud.
Other than that everything works and I would definitely stay there again. The owner was very accommodating and answered questions that we had and took care of things very fast.
Also, you have to check out it 808 Grindz in Lahaina for Breakfast. The best pancakes with a vanilla sauce I have ever had! Expect a wait, but it is so worth it.

Love the vibe if this unit. The Lana’i is wonderful to sit and have a meal and watch whales. The beach and grass area is great for sunbathing. The pool and jacuzzi are clean and nice. And the sea is fantastic for swimming. It’s lovely to listen to the waves at night while you sleep

We have been coming to Maui for years, staying at various places until we found Hale Mahina. We truly love the property, and have stayed here the last 4 years. After this year, I have no desire to return. The owners of the units we have stayed in have been amazing, and we love the property itself. However, the resident managers Larry & Lynn are awful. I don’t usually write reviews, but have encountered so many other guests here with similar stories to ours so I decided to finally write something. Larry and Lynn are so intolerant of children it’s unbearable. He races out of his unit to scold them for the tiniest infractions. Once, my daughter used the shower after rinsing with the hose before she got in the pool. Larry didn’t see her use the hose, which he prefers to the shower, and chastised her. Why do the pool showers exist then? My daughters also jumped into the pool and accidentally took two blades of grass with them. Larry was unhappy about that. He also yelled at them for playing with a beach ball. To be fair, my kids missed the rule about no inflatables at the pool. We did not allow them to have any thereafter. There was also poor communication among the adults one day that left my kids briefly unattended at the pool. The tongue lashing I received from Lynn left me speechless. A second time they yelled at my supposedly unattended children, when my husband was out with them. I don’t believe we’re perfect. I would never put my children intentionally in danger or have them carelessly dirty up the pool. A little kindness and respect from Larry and Lynn would go a long way. Just say, “Hey, could you make sure you remember to rinse your feet before jumping in the pool please?” Instead, Larry was so rude he had my 6-year-old almost in tears and refusing to swim anymore. When my husband and I spoke to him, he flat out told us he doesn’t enforce all the rules; apparently, it’s only when it means he can yell at my children. He also told me he “doesn’t give a *expletive*”how we feel and if we never come back. It really goes a long way to treat people with a small amount of kindness and respect.

Perfect location to relax on one of the many lounge chairs or take a swim in the ocean. There are plenty of snorkels etc in the unit for enjoying the wildlife just off the shore. There is a sandy beach just past the grassy yard with swaying palm tress and beautiful well maintained landscape. The unit is very clean and the kitchen is well appointed for cooking and cleaning up. The view from the top floor lanai is amazing and we could see whales spouting in the distance. I will definitely be back next year!

Well furnished with all you need for an awesome vacation. Having a private beach was so nice. We saw turtles swimming just a few feet away and several times they came up on the Beach to rest. Snorkeling the rock/coral area was cool, saw lots of fish.
Nice to be close to Shops, Restaurants and Grocery Store. We walked to them several times for supplies.
The little outdoor Farmers Market just up the road had some delicious fresh fruits and veggies.
We BBQ’d a few times and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor space, as well as relaxing on the Lanai.
Saw several Dolphins and a few Whales from our view on the Lanai.
Morning coffee with a view that can’t be beat!
We’ll definitely be back! 🌴

Our stay at this wonderful condo in beautiful Maui was absolutely perfect! The view is exactly as pictured- breathtaking! The condo was very comfortable and relaxing, with plenty of room and excellent amenities. Having a private beach is an experience I will never forget! Sea turtles all around, the water perfect and amazing sunsets! I cannot recommend this property enough! Thank you for letting us share this wonderful place in paradise!
