This home is exactly what is described on the website. Fantastic Ocean front oasis. Beautifully remodeled. Fantastic view from every room in the house. There was even a Sea Turtle in the tide pools in front of the home when we arrived. We will definitely stay here again. 10 out of 10 !

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family loved everything about this amazing home. The location was ideal with the shoreline in your own backyard making snorkeling and fishing so accessible. We could enjoy the spectacular ocean views outside sitting in the lanai or relaxing in the backyard hammocks and also from indoors. It was conveniently located to enjoy the west coast and central enough to be able to take day trips to Hilo and Volcanoes National Park. Check-in was easy with Hunter meeting us to walk us through the property. He was quick to respond with any questions we had including suggestions on things we could do on the island. The home was very clean and well stocked and offered so much space for our family of 5. This was by far our favorite rental ever!

Beautiful location! No complaints other than air conditioning which we knew in advance. On the hot nights we had to sleep in the room that has the air cooler in it. So about 40% of time we had to sleep in that room other nights were in the master listening to the waves. We had a great time. Hope to be back some day. Thank you

Overall we had a great stay at this property. Location is amazing right on the water. You can see whales and turtles right from the balcony. Also very close to downtown Kona and several beaches nearby. Views of the water are fantastic from kitchen and bedroom and massive balcony. Nice open lot next door too with hammocks, chairs and grill. Appreciated access to all the snorkel equipment and beach gear. Only downside is no air conditioning. The owner told us in advance so no problem and it was OK in February but would not want to be there in the summer months with no air. Great property that we thoroughly enjoyed.

We had a great time staying at this house! From reading the reviews it seems it might get an upgrade in 2023 but I want to say it was super clean and comfortable to stay there. The location is perfect for doing all the awesome activities the coast has to offer while being a little ways out of the busy part of town. Most importantly, we arrived in a storm, and we lost power at some point the next afternoon. Kealin was in contact with us immediately to check if we knew where the flashlights were and even brought battery operated candles to us! Fortunately power was restored in a few hours (the ocean outside the house was wild and wonderful to watch during the storm!) and we enjoyed the rest of our stay. Kitchen was well stocked with supplies and plenty of recommendations in the guest book. Enjoy!

When me and my new husband walked through the door of this enchanted original Hawaiian home we were in aww….very spacious, open layout…giant windows with ocean views in every room. Step out onto the patio to find your favorite place to chill and watch and listen to the waves. So many cute nooks to relax in around the large outdoor area. Be sure to make your way to the tide pools where there’s so many fish and little living creatures…it mesmerizes you. Easy access to the main strip to go shopping and explore Kona. They have everything you need from plenty of towels, cooking needs…lots of spices first aid…soaps, body wash beach chairs etc. we enjoyed ourselves thorough here and would go back. Our only minor complaint was at the time of our stay the air conditioning was not working and although they did have plenty of fans and two standing cooling units…it wasn’t nearly enough to cool the place down. At times it was unbearable…it was hard to escape the heat but we did after a bit. Please don’t let this discourage your stay….everything else about this beautiful place is definitely worth the stay.

This was a beautiful property to stay at. We absolutely enjoyed our time here and would most definitely stay here again. That being said, let me explain my ratings. I rated the cleanliness of the property as a 4 instead of 5 was simply because of the smell within the property. There was a stranger sewer type smell which must just come with the location. That being considered, I would still stay here again because it was such a perfect place to stay otherwise. I rated the accuracy of the listing as a 3 because the listing stated it had air conditioning, only to find the air conditioning was broken. There were 2 portable units installed, but the home still got up to 88 degrees every afternoon which was more than a bit uncomfortable. Come early morning the temperature in the house got down to 73 degrees which made it so sleeping was fine thank heavens. I rated the location/neighborhood as a 4 because although it is an extremely convenient location, it is right off a very busy street. There were a few nights where the street noise was bothersome, but understandably this comes with having a convenient location. So all-in-all I gave the property a rating of 4 mostly due simply to the lack of air conditioning. Other than that the home was beautiful, the furnishings beautiful, the landscaping beautiful, the kitchen very well stocked, the amenities provided (like snorkel gear, etc) fantastic, the property manager very attentive… really (besides the air conditioning) a perfect place to stay and would definitely recommend as long as you can handle the afternoon heat.

This property had the best location I’ve ever had. Mornings and evenings were really glorious. The only issue, and we were pre-warned, was that the AC was being replaced in 2023. Even with the single AC units, it got pretty toasty in the late afternoon. But the views and location more than made up for that.

This is an amazing property/home! Being right on the ocean provides opportunities to snorkel right in front of the house (enter on the side); enjoy turtles in the tidal pool eating seaweed; relax by day and enjoy the sunset and stars each evening. The photos accurately capture the property, however understate the whole: the property is 2-3 times as wide as surrounding properties providing lots of space and privacy. Classic architecture. Nice touches in the garden and interior. Great location for trips to explore all HI. Well appointed kitchen and convenient to restaurants or delivery. You may want to check with owners on the status of the AC for MBR. Owners are working towards a complete upgrade of systems in 2023. All in all an amazing place. I hope to return.

Being right on top of the water was the most exhilarating experience ever!! Did not have to go anywhere some days because we were living on the ocean The home is vintage with its unique quirks and a definite island feel. The property manager as well as the owner were extremely helpful and receptive to our needs. You will never forget staying at Hale Kalle.

Our family loved staying at Hale Kale. It was in such a centralized location, had an amazingly big backyard, access to tide pools, and it was amazing having such a close view of the ocean. The kitchen had all the amenities we needed (i.e. condiments, pots, cutting boards, etc) and we really appreciated the various sizes of booties, the boogie boards, and plenty of towels, shampoo, soap, and toilet paper. Laury was very responsive to all my questions. I highly recommend this place and hope to return again some day.

Staying at Kahaluu Bay home was what made our vacation relaxing. Our favorites were the views, location, spacious relaxing yard, water accessibility, snorkel accessories and size of home. The home is a bit dated, but very clean and spacious. Our teenagers enjoyed the smart tv too! Gave us a real feel for Kona as a local.

With 150 feet of shoreline and ocean views from every room, this beautiful Hawaiian mid century modern home was perfect for our vacation. Generously and thoughtfully appointed with an amazing property manager, Kealin, we had everything we needed. There are 5 outdoor seating areas to lounge, sit, dine or serve as a departure point for exploring the tide pools below. There’s no better place to stay on the Kona side.

Hale house is in a great location. About 20 minutes from the airport, short drive north on Alii to the center of kailua-kona, and just minutes south on Alii to a KTA grocery store. Great outdoor space with a large patio area overlooking the water. There is nice grassy/garden area next to the house with some loungers shaded by palm tress which is the perfect place to watch the sun sent. Alii drive is right behind the house but you don’t really hear the road noise over the surf. You do have to be cautious exiting the driveway, visibility exiting is limited and there is a bike/pedestrian lane alone the side of the rode with a lot of foot traffic in the morning. There is a mirror on the south exit of the driveway that helps when exiting south on Alii. We found it safest to always exit this direction. Comes with everything you need for beach excursions. Beach chairs, umbrella's, coolers, and some snorkeling gear. There is some great snorkeling right in front of the house. We snorkeled numerous places on the island and there were as many if not more fish here than anyplace else we went. Some caution is warranted. There is a deep channel cut into the lava in front of the second house to the north. You can easily drop right into deep water at the far end of the channel but exiting can tricky, especially is there is a swell. There are some sea urchins in the holes in the rocks so having gloves is helpful. Would not recommend for beginners unless there is minimal surf.

Absolutely amazing week at Laury’s house. The location is amazing! You literally cannot get any closer to the ocean. Nd the private yard with lounge chairs and hammocks was perfect. After a Costco run about 15 minutes way, we BBQ’ed most nights (after learning that The Big Island appears to focus more on aloha and less on the culinary arts). We spent nights on the lanai drinking mai tais and stargazing. We enjoyed coffee on the lanai watching surfers and stand up paddle boarders. The house is centrally located and easy to get to most places. That said, the drive to Volcano National Park was long (but it’d be long no matter where you stay in Kona). We stayed to watch the volcano glow and it was worth the long and very dark drive back to Kona. I echo what others said about the house itself - it’s a bit dated. But we thought it gave the house Hawaiian charm. We’d stay there again in a heartbeat!

Very beautiful- right on the water! There is a tiny sand beach with a public access to the right of the house, and you can enter the water there , but it’s a little tricky unless you’re young :-) It’s a very dated house. I don’t think anything has been done done it was built in 1969. Except the kitchen which is well done- except that most of the pots are Teflon and pretty scratched up, so we used one that was not non-stick. Everything worked though some doors and Windows are tricky or don’t open or close all the way. We had a lovely time!

We absolutely loved our stay at Hale Kale! The location is incredible: it's right by the ocean, with turtles visiting the tide pools every day and the sound of the waves being the only thing you hear - super relaxing and magical! The house is walking distance from a beautiful snorkeling beach and a few minutes drive from restaurants and supermarkets. We love swimming so we drove up and down the coast to discover new beaches and everything was very conveniently located. The house was super clean, with everything you could possibly need for your stay as well as a great welcoming packet from Laury with great recommendations. Overall we really loved our time here and it was hard to leave. Thank you so much, Laury and Kaelin!

My wife and I had an amazing stay at the Apple Oasis! Richard was a great host, meeting us for check-in and giving us a welcome gift. The house was great, with a fully stocked kitchen, plenty of linens, and AC in the bedrooms. The location is awesome! It is right on the ocean, and the sunsets each evening are spectacular, especially from the hammocks under the palm trees. Would definitely stay in again!
