Very clean & nicely decorated, however would sacrifice adorement for more functional surfaces. No normal upholstered chairs & kitchenette very difficult to function in. Internet marginal for working vacationers & didn't recall ceiling height in loft being mentioned (too low to stand up) Hot tub was a real bonus yet having dry towels was a challenge. Great location for National Volcano Park but pretty far from beaches.

My husband and I were married in the beautiful town of Volcano 01/14. While we enjoyed ourselves and the spectacular views. I cannot say the same of our experience here. 1. There needs to be clear communication on parking before entering the home. We understand this has SOME instructions in the description but also reading the airbnb review on this same property we are not the only ones confused. We felt awful for parking in the neighbors yard but were not truly able to fix the parking situation until entering the vacation home itself and seeing them after we had parked (which seems counterproductive). 2. Our friends and family send a $300.00 wine and cheese package which was not "deliverable without signature" according to the host but apparently got delivered the day after we left this time somehow without a problem. I received a message from the host afterwards saying "Thank you but we did not order anything". That's because the package I asked about two days prior if it was delivered was turned away to only then be signed for after our departure. 3. We were charged for flowers and Champagne I did ask for when planning for our arrival I have messages asking if I wanted something in particular I could reimburse the host for if not no charge, I paid the $40.00 fee for it still but we never drank it and left another additional unopened bottle as well as we thought maybe since unopened could be used for a future couple/guest. 4. Sunday was the worse. This is where I say if you are a couple searching for a romantic hideaway look for something more private. We only used the hot tub once because well quiet hours are at ten and we did not want to disturb the neighbors, and 2 we still paid the fee for turning it off after only spending 20 minutes tops in there. We decided to get some much needed R&R with a nap in the afternoon but I woke to vacuuming and loud moving/cleaning from the main home that lasted from 11AM to about after 2 PM. I think the days we explored and left early/got back late there was no issue but one day where we wanted to stay in and enjoy each other wasn't possible. Overall, the home is clean and I apologize my husband got sick from the recommended food truck TUK TUK Thai, I paid for that cleaning expense but I would say to those staying here in the future that food truck made him very ill.

Really cozy, immaculate place with comfy beds, and good space for us to spread out with our two teenagers. Easy drive to Volcanoes National Park. We were forewarned that food / dining options are limited in the area, so we brought some quick-heat meals to prepare in the small but well-appointed kitchenette. We especially appreciated the hot water kettle. We did not use the hot tub, but it looked very nicely maintained. Thank you for a great stay.

We loved our stay at the Rainforest Hideaway and wish we could have stayed longer. We used it as our launching pad to explore Akaka Falls, Rainbow Falls, Hilo, Pāhoa, and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It was a drive to some of these places, but was so close to the National park entrance that we were happy to be able to go multiple times. Viewing the lava flow and stargazing at night were definite highlights and we appreciated the hosts recommendations on how/where to view.
The property was easy to access and was immaculately clean upon arrival. Very cute space with inviting decor. Host had thought of everything we would need, down to a towel warmer for use after the hot tub. Speaking of which, the hot tub was great. It was kept very clean and was the perfect way to wind down after hiking and exploring.
We also enjoyed the ambiance of the rainforest with the unique sounds of the coqui frogs at night. Never heard anything like it!
Five star stay for sure. We hope to come back.
