I gave a rating of 3 because, while the location was fantastic, the condo itself was poorly equipped. The kitchen was very understocked, utensils were covered in a greasy residue. The plasticware had a strong, unpleasant odor that seeped into the food, making it unusable.Many of the items in the property were either almost broken or simply didn’t work at all (like the hairdryer), and the air conditioning units were in desperate need of a filter change and a deep cleaning.As a two-bedroom condo, we expected enough beach equipment for four people, but there was only enough for two. The chairs we were provided were ancient, bulky, and uncomfortable, pool noodles were disintegrating. The pillows were stained yellow and worn out and the polyester sheets were cheap, hot and uncomfortable;in addition to very sunken mattresses.It’s unfortunate because, with better amenities, our experience could’ve been much better. The unit owner should update the condo’s furnishings to meet rental expectations.On a positive note, the management and grounds team were extremely helpful, friendly, and responsive. We would consider staying here again, but not in this particular unit.

Aloha! I found the Kona Kai Unit B2 to be centrally located to markets, dining and attractions. Local community for the location was noisy especially on weekend nights.

The property was ok if a little dated, no real complaints there. Do note there there is no dishwasher in the unit.
The check-in was not great. I didn't receive check-in instructions or a door code prior to arrival and ended up sitting outside the unit well past my check-in time while I attempted to contact the host via several phone numbers including a manager that was on vacation and had to call VRBO Customer Service. Not the smooth process I'm used to when using VRBO.

The only things wrong with this property was the furniture. The main bedroom bed was beyond worn out, and obviously so. There was a spot where the cushioning was completely shot and covered with some sort of pad, presumably to alleviate the problem (it did not work). My wife moved to sleep in the single bed in the second bedroom. Luckily we only had 3 people in the apartment. The couch in the living room was also remarkably hard and uncomfortable. Location was advertised, close to pier. There was some road noise but not more than expected.

The location was very convenient and overall was a great stay. Only buts were, the shower taking a long time to heat up, so didn’t like wasting that much water and it went cold during my showers too. It also had a could cooking utensils not fully cleaned.

I was looking for a place with a walkable location, functional air conditioning in both bedrooms, comfortable beds and a decent kitchen. This fit the bill perfectly! I remember reading other reviews mentioning that check in was confusing, but it was simple and easy for us. Right next to the grocery store, short walk to the shore (but with a hill to climb on the way back), comfortable beds and bedding, plenty of towels, and easy access to laundry.

We did not encounter any issues at all. Everything we need is there. The place is really close to downtown and grocery stores. We prefer walking down to get to Ali’i drive.. safe and quiet place. I like the fact that we don’t need a key but punch a code. Perfect place to stay..

The unit was clean, quiet, cozy for a couple. The location is great, close to grocery stores, the bank and easy to get to walmart.
We arrived late and had a hard time finding the unit. Would be helpful for the property managers to create a layout of the buildings and the room unit numbers because they are all mixed up and not in order. Laundry is coin operated.

The Kona Kai B2 unit was the perfect place to spend our almost week in Kona!! It is centrally located and made walking to dinner, drinks & all things local so easy!! The property is in excellent condition, the beds are so comfy, A/C was great, and not always needed! It was everything advertised, and in addition, the property management company was responsive and so helpful with anything we had questions on.

This property was perfect for our trip. We wanted a place to make our own breakfasts and lunches, and relax between activities. Nice and inviting. The decor was perfect for that island getaway, and the kids loved the gecko art in their room! We would absolutely stay here again.

Close to the pier, shopping, and restaurants. Lots of nice white bath towels in the condo. The AC and fans were nice. We needed some beach towels and a decent size pot to cook in, and we called the property manager and received these items within a few hours. They were very responsive to our requests. The oven had an error code and we were not able to use it. That was fine though, because the microwave and stove top worked. Overall it was a enjoyable stay.

Decorations were nice, beds were uncomfortable, close to downtown Kona. On the first day we saw notices posted everywhere saying they had sprayed for pests that day. By the end there were some ants in the unit and I saw one cockroach which I killed. The pool was nice. The master bedroom bed was sagging on one side and was pretty much shot. They had towels, dishes etc. which we appreciated. The appliances in general were updated. If you want hot water get up early because by 9 am you're going to be taking a cold shower. The shower head was also kind of funky. All in all the place was suitable for our purposes but not really worth the price.
