Stunning experience! Perfect location near Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and close enough to Hilo to visit there, too. The cabin is stunning, as are its surroundings -- peaceful, tranquil, beautiful. In the day, feel warm breezes and smell the flowers. In the evening, hear sweet birdsong and check out the stars. The cabin is well set up to live, and live well, for your time, with a functional kitchen and beautiful bathroom. The place feels all your own, and you can't even see any other house from it, even though you're just a short drive off the main road. Exceptional place!

I loved this little cottage. The kitchen and bathroom were very nice. The pillows were the best I've ever had in a rental or hotel. It was a nice size for two, although I was there on my own. There weren't any curtains on any windows but I felt I was hidden in the jungle. Be aware the tap water is filtered rain water and some don't like the taste, although I didn't mind it.

The space is beautiful inside and out, we struggled with the gate lock the first couple of times we used it, it started to loosen up the more we used it. The frogs come alive at night and give you a symphony. If you’re sensitive to noise while sleeping bring ear plugs. We will absolutely stay here again.

What a unique place to stay! We thoroughly enjoyed this location. It is a very private location in the middle of dense vegitation. We slept so well here listening to the sounds of the forest. The location makes for a great base to explore Volcanoes NP.

From the moment we arrived on the property, we could tell it was going to be beautiful! The little cabin is situated in the middle of the forest 10 minutes from volcano national Park. The grass driveway and surrounding forestry is pretty amazing to arrive too. The cabinet itself is clean and updated, while still remaining very charmingly rustic. There's a huge shower and the water gets hot very quickly. The fireplace under the television is a beautiful addition for chili nights. And the washer and dryer were a blessing after long hiking days. The internet is also very fast! 100% would book this cabin again when we come back.

We completely enjoyed our stay in this private cottage! There was more than enough room for the two of us. We really enjoyed the privacy that we had here after spending the prior 2 weeks at various resorts on the other islands.The kitchen was very well stocked and included all the necessary utensils, tools, and appliances that were needed to make breakfast and dinner. We appreciated the full-size stove & refrigerator. The bathroom was huge and we loved the walk-in shower with the pebble floor! There were plenty of towels provided, and we were grateful for the soap & shampoo that were provided.The laundry machines were a nice amenity and they did a great job washing clothes. We got caught out in a rain storm on our last night and it was nice to be able to dry the clothes before putting them in our suitcase.The internet worked very well, and we were able to connect our accounts to the streaming services and watch shows on the TV. It worked quite well. Our only complaint would be that the bed is starting to sag in the middle and is likely going to need to be replaced soon. That, and it got really cold one night after we went to bed and the fireplace heater took a long time to get the room warmed back up. That blame really goes to mother nature as she decided to surprise everyone with a quick, unexpected drop in temperature that night.We highly recommend this cottage to anyone thinking about staying in Volcano, and we're hoping we can stay here again!

This is a really cool place, and would definitely stay here again! This cottage is on a private lot surrounded by beautiful, lush, green trees and plants that were very thoughtfully planted. There are no window coverings and the windows are everywhere, they were all clean and all slide open and have screens (also clean). It was especially nice to have the windows open during the day. The nights get cool in Volcano and there is a heater in the faux fireplace; however, the warm air goes up to the vaulted ceiling and there is no ceiling fan to push it back down. We were super lucky in that Kilauea erupted for 12 hours for one of the nights we were there and you could see the sky glowing out the bedside window!My only complaint is that it's past time for the loveseat to be professionally cleaned.

We stayed in this little cottage for two nights during our trip to the Volcano National Park. The cottage is cute and exactly as pictured. It is very close to Volcano and a short drive to the park. The road is a very rough but able to be driven by any rental car. The property manager is very responsive and handled a small issue we had with the gate lock very quickly. We didn’t have any issues with frog noise as we ran the dehumidifier and it acted like white noise. There are just two small things to know. There are no shades whatsoever. The issue we had was during a full moon, it is extremely bright right on the hear of the bed. It would be nice to be able to just block that a bit as it is an extremely beautiful but extremely bright moon out there. The other is the WiFi. We didn’t have a great cell signal so we were hoping to use the WiFi to make some of our plans for the next day. Despite resetting it as suggested by the property manager, we never saw over .95 mbps and that was when it worked at all. We were not there for TV or streaming but future renters should be aware of it in case its needed it for some reason.

Beautiful, secluded property. The cottage is surrounded by ferns and trees. The cottage is comfortable and cozy with all the amenities needed for your stay. The electric fireplace is a special treat on the cool evenings. Although there are neighbors, you feel like you are all alone. The communication with the property managers was excellent. We’d definitely stay here again.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights while visiting Volcano National Park. We loved this place! It was tastefully designed and felt cozy. The fireplace was a great touch. The bathroom and shower were nice. We were also happy to have a washer and dryer. They have a fairly well stocked kitchen other than no coffee when we first got there. Everything was clean and in working order. The rainforest is loud at night but we did not mind it. The WiFi was very spotty and there is no internet out there otherwise, so be mindful if you require constant internet for any reason. We were unable to load Netflix, Hulu, etc at times. We would definitely stay here again and overall highly recommend this as the perfect volcano stay for two!

We loved this cottage! It is away from everything, you barely can see the neighbors home. Sooo quiet at night except for birds and frogs. The cottage was everything we expected from the pictures and description. I highly recomend this place. Keep one thing in mind-you are isolated, the tropical forest is dark at night, you must drive a dirt road to get there. If this sounds good to you it is. Perfect for our visits to Volcano National Park.

This was a fun place to stay for our visit to the big island. The gravel roads leading to the property and the density of foliage make it feel remote, but you are a short drive from Volcano Village, VNP, and Hilo. Inside the cottage is beautiful and clean. We definitely recommend staying here and would stay again if we ever return to this area. A few things to consider: 1) Grab any groceries you want in Hilo or someplace you see on your drive from the south, before you get to Volcano. 2). Bring your warmies! It can be damp and chilly in this rainforest, especially at night.

Staying at this rainforest cottage was an absolute dream! It felt totally private yet safe as you often see neighbors walking their dogs as you drive up to the property. The cottage had everything we needed, and we really appreciated having a laundry and iron board as we eloped during our stay and needed to fix our outfits the morning of. The contact that I was given was always responsive and friendly. I was prepared for loud noises at night because of the reviews, but honestly the croaking frogs were not a bother at all, and my husband is a light sleeper too. The sounds for us were very faint. We did not see any wild pigs but we did hear their movements under the house a few times, which made for a very exciting experience! The cottage was close to Volcano National Park so if you have that on your to-do list, this would be a great option. The bed was also quite comfy. Overall, everything was wonderful and we are so happy with our decision to stay here during our time on the Big Island. Mahalo!

I used to live on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island so wanted to show my daughter around the island before she goes off to college. I was not familiar with the area where this home was located and, quite honestly, was a little nervous about it. We drove through Hilo making sure to get to the property before sunset. Turning into the neighborhood had us wondering where in the world we were. It felt like a movie set! Once on site, we were absolutely amazed. It was as if our brains couldn't grasp the beauty. I took videos and photos to the awe of our friends both on Hawai'i and the mainland. I hope I didn't sell it enough so that we won't be able to return again! The accommodations were comfy and clean. Curtains are not needed unless you want to sleep in. It is safe, secluded, and pitch dark at night. The coqui will sing you to sleep, as will the rain on the tin roof if you're lucky enough to be there when it rains. We, unfortunately, didn't hear or see any pigs or chickens, but I did get to see a flock of Kalij pheasants wandering through each morning. Definitely grocery shop and gas up in Hilo town, then come and relax. Volcano National Park is so close and makes an easy time of spending the day there without facing a long drive before and after. However, the place is so lovely that you may find yourself thinking that the volcanos are something you could postpone and see next time. We really hope this is still available in the future for a longer stay. Absolutely loved it!

This home literally felt like a rainforest adventure! The location is beautiful and the amenities are great! It’s very private and a great central location to volcano park. The only downsides are the loud sounds of the tree frogs at night (which is everywhere in this area) and some bugs (because you are in a forest), but it’s definitely the best possible rainforest adventure you could hope for!

How many "wow's" can one fit into a review? This cabin was incredible! You literally felt like you were in a rainforest every morning - because you will be! It's luscious green everywhere, with wildlife that walks right up to the back door. This was my husband's and I third and final spot during our honeymoon and the tranquility of this cabin was undeniable. We stopped into Hilo to do some light shopping on the second day and that was an enjoyable short drive. Along with the volcano park tour we took! Beautiful secluded stay!

This rainforest cottage is a true haven! Secluded and surrounded by lush rainforest foliage. The cottage is nicely decorated with a modern feel. The bathroom is huge and lovely with a beautiful shower. The electric fireplace was a welcome touch on the chillier rainy nights that we were there. The washer/dryer were so nice to have as well. As mentioned, the cottage is very secluded, so there are no window coverings. We would have liked them in the bathroom regardless. Also, hooks for towels and jackets would be very useful. Otherwise, a perfect getaway for a rainforest experience.
We spent most of our time at the Volcano National Park which was only a 15 minute drive away. So much better to be at this cottage than driving from Hilo every day. There are several good restaurants in the small village of Volcano that is also only 10 minutes away.
We were very impressed with the response from Jessica regarding an issue we had upon arrival. All was handled in a very timely and professional manner. Mahalo!

The inside is nicely done, comfty bed, and shower was amazing! I love this cottage and did not want to leave! I loved waking up to different birds singing a pretty tune!

The window facing west (I think) might need a window covering at the top of the day! We were able to block the sun enough for quick nap before exploring Kīlauea! But it was really not an issue! I love how secluded the place is and window coverings would ruin the atmosphere! We loved this place and would stay again in the future!

I spent 2 of my 4 on-island nights at this adorable studio home. It is so close to Volcanoes National Park, which was perfect for my daily explorations. The electric fireplace makes the evenings so cozy. I did not see the wild pigs mentioned in other reviews, but did hear some scuffling and thumping beneath the home on night 2. The coqui frogs took a bit of getting used to, but for me, it added to the Hawaiian charm and adventure. I appreciated having ample kitchen space for cooking breakfast and I was pleased to see condiments and a few other small items in the fridge. If you’re looking for touristy Hawai’i, this isn’t it… But if you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle, check out this home!

We loved our escape to Volcano and this cute little cabin in the prehistoric woods. We spent 5 hours each day exploring Volcano National Park and still have more to come back and see. Perfect proximity to the park.
The property is ideal for a getaway! The psychedelic symphony of coqui frogs was impressive, enjoyed sitting on the little deck surrounded by nature.
We live on the south side of Kauai and this lovely cabin offered a perfect reprieve from the summer heat, a sweet excuse to cuddle-up in our comfies.
Check-in was painless and directions were very detailed. We were easily able to contact the management team with a question and the reply was prompt.
Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys nature but still wants the comforts of a hot shower, comfy bed and full kitchen.

We had a tremendous experience with this stay and with the property manager. I booked very far in advance, and when I needed to adjust my dates there wasn't any issues.
Had no problem getting our Ford Mustang (rental) up to the property, but do know that you're driving out into the rain forest on unfinished road. We took it nice and easy on the road up and didn't have any problems getting in and out -- even in the dark. From the moment my wife and I rolled up to the property gate, we were enchanted with the cottage. It's quiet, private, and well-appointed. Other reviewers have mentioned pigs in the area, but we neither saw nor heard pigs during our stay. The coqui frogs were a lovely white noise for us overnight, and didn't disturb our sleep. The provided little things really made this stay -- washer pods for laundry, a flashlight near the guestbook (would have been useful if I'd remembered to grab it on the way out to see Kīlauea!), and bug spray on the front porch. A combo of the dehumidifier and the electric fireplace helped keep the place from getting too humid.
When we did use the internet we found it quite slow when both of us were trying to surf (or we were streaming and trying to work a mobile device), but we had that expectation coming in so it wasn't a problem. My only disappointment, which was completely out of anyone's control, was that it didn't rain overnight while we were there! There's something magical about hearing the rain fall while you're sleeping, so maybe next time.
For people trying to get off the grid or looking to spend time in Volcanoes National Park, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better property. Highly recommend!

This is a very cool home for anyone looking to explore the Volcano park and surrounding area. It was a great space for a small family or couple. It is a very secluded and private home which made it a great experience. We unfortunately ran into some issues with cockroaches that didn't allow us to cook or have any food in the home. Additionally the wild pigs on property, although really neat to see, can be a bit startling and noisy at night as they slept under the house nightly. The smell was unpleasant as well. Unfortunately for us these issue caused us to leave a day early. With a good cleaning and bug control, this could be an amazing place to stay.

The interior of this property is nice and well-appointed. The property is remote, while still being close to restaurants and Volcano National Park. Feral pigs were too close for comfort, as many were living under the property. Their noise at night woke us, and they startled us upon coming back to the property in the dark on several occasions (9+ pigs in total). Upon notifying the property manager of the issue with the pigs, she stated they would attempt to discourage the pigs' residence. The parking area and step up to the porch is not lit; it could use motion lighting on the step for safety. Unfortunately, there were many indoor roaches in the kitchen, so we did not feel comfortable cooking. We have stayed in many other properties on Hawaii and 4 other islands and have not encountered this issue. If the above issues were remedied, this would be a relaxing rental.

We had a lovely stay at the secluded cottage where we were surrounded by the beautiful nature of the area. The cottage was clean and we had everything we needed. Great communication with the hosts before and throughout our stay, and they were very helpful. Great location for Volcano National Park and Hilo.

This rental house was great. We really enjoyed the secluded spot and proximity to the volcano. One thing that we did not enjoy was the "cute family of pigs" on the property. We were told about the pigs, but were unaware they enjoyed being under the house and are semi-nocturnal. They woke us up several times during our two night stay. The house itself was amazing, and there isn't much you can do about wildlife, but it may be worth asking about the pig status before you book if you are a sensitive sleeper. Internet was also not great if you plan to use it for work or streaming.

We really enjoyed our stay. The property mananger Shawna was super great at communication before we arrived and easy to get ahold of to answer questions while we were there. The property is very secluded and it feels like you are staying in your own private rainforest. Beautiful flowers, tree ferns and fruit trees.
Very close to Valcano National Park, about 40 minutes from Hilo and a good farmers market on Sunday mornings in the town of Volcano.

Everything about this cottage was beyond perfect. It was clean, quiet, peaceful, and is in great location. We loved falling asleep every night to the sounds of rain and the jungle. Will definitely recommend.

Our stay here was our absolute favorite. This location is very private, located in the rainforest part of the island. The property is beautiful with flowers, frogs, birds, and constant rain in the month of May. The rain was super nice, it made us never want to leave in the mornings and we couldn’t wait to get home at night. We had a fully stocked kitchen and we’re able to make full meals at home. The property manager was very communicative, and helpful. Be forewarned the washing machine was not working, but luckily the dryer was. The bathroom was very clean and I enjoyed the large walk in shower.

Nice setting....very private. Only issue was washing machine was inoperable. Upon inquiry, the property manager said she had communicated a couple weeks before our arrival that machine did not work. Upon checking my email I found the email she referenced but it didn’t mention machine. Other than that miscommunication all other communications were prompt and clear. We had a short stay, so it wasn’t a big deal. Good welcoming book instructions and directions to the place.

This spot was perfection for our time at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Super close to entrance, BEAUTIFUL area to get lost for a few days. The property is a little crazy to get to (unpaved roads etc) but worth it. The only downside is service is spotty for Internet/TV and you can hear everything (rain/animal movements etc) but is was a great place for our 2 night getaway.

If you want privacy and close to Volcano National Park, this is the place for you. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed watching the family of pigs come through each morning. If you’re visiting in the winter months, bring warm clothes. The only heat source is the electric fireplace. Warm days, but cool nights.

We enjoyed our stay. The bedding and towels were slightly musty but I guess that's to be expected in a rainy area. It was a bummer that the washer was out of order. This was the only place we booked that had a W/D and we had planned to do some laundry to get thru the rest of our vacation. Having a real kitchen was nice and the bed was comfortable. Internet was spotty. Location was great to access volcanoes NP. Overall a good experience.

Lovely little cottage closet to HVNP. Great little romantic getaway from the other side of the island. We love to hike around the park all day, it was nice not to drive 1+ hours home.

We loved our time here. This was our last place on a six week, four island trip and was the perfect ending spot for us. The location gave us easy access to Volcano National Park which is an amazing place to explore for days and the little town of Volcano is close for food and supplies (Kilauea Lodge and the Thai food truck highly recommended). We did go to the top of Mauna Kea from here which made for a long day but the drive, by way of Hilo, was an easy one with little traffic. The place itself is really special too. It's very modern, comfortable, open and spacious with so many windows you feel like you're outside in the jungle but safely sheltered. It's very quiet and peaceful here. The surrounding jungle with the huge ferns and Ohi'a trees seem very primitive and native Hawaiian. You almost expect a dinosaur to walk past the window. You see a lot of nature here too including pigs and Kalij pheasants and wild orchids and other exotic flowers. Just a wonderful place. Mahalo

We loved staying here! It was cozy, romantic, and surrounded by the beautiful rainforest. It’s a great place to connect with nature and a loved one. It’s right around the corner to volcano national park, and a 30-40 min drive from Hilo. Shawna was absolutely fantastic. Hey communicative and kind. She helped me surprise my partner with delicious treats. Definitely worth staying here. I wish we booked it for longer!
