ABOUT OUR PROPERTY

Our private and clean 600-sf studio nests in our quiet, peaceful land named Mana Aina, which means the power of the earth in the Hawaiian language. Mana Aina sits in a privileged spot in beautiful Haiku, enjoying the pure oxygen from Hana wrapping around the national tropical forest on the side of the Haleakala [dormant volcano]. The views from the studio go into and beyond our 12 acres of matured park.

Our studio is clean and well taken care of, so you can enjoy a wonderful stay. The rental is made of bricks and painted stucco walls, tile floors, and high-beam ceilings. As soon as you open the sliding doors, you are standing on a 12-acre park covered by a lush landscape with ornamental trees, tropical plants, seasonal fruit trees, and flowers.

To tell you a bit more about the property, on the ocean side of Mana Aina, there is a 50-acre forest. On the Eastside, we have a big gulch with a seasonal water stream coming down from the Haleakala's rain forest, which goes all the way down into the ocean where Jaws is located [one of the world's largest surfing/windsurfing waves]. On the Haleakala side, we have another 50-acre property as quiet as ours. East Kuiaha Road is a very quiet road on the west side of our property.

We are pro wildlife and insects because our plants & trees need them, so there are big chances you will see geckos and other insects on our property. We do our best to keep them out of the studios, but you might see them. For a pristine and manicured landscape where insects and birds are fumigated, you might want to stay at one of Maui's resorts on the South Shore.

NEIGHBORHOOD

Although our property offers seclusion and quietness, you can find great restaurants and grocery shopping just a 6-minute drive away. If you are into organic and healthy foods, the Mana Foods store in Paia is just 10 minutes away, and the Pauwela Cannery is perfect for casual breakfast or lunch. The Haiku Cannery has even more dining options, including Nuka Sushi and Colleen's Restaurant for burgers, pizza, and more. Vegout offers vegetarian options, and Maui Kombucha Bar is a must-visit. Don't forget to check out the Ahonui Plant-Based Cafe food truck on 111 Stable Road, Paia.

If you're here during wave season, visit Jaws to witness some of the planet's most giant rideable waves. The Makawao Forest offers a unique hiking experience for hikers and adventurers, and the Piiholo Ranch Zip Line is a must-try. Stop by Makawao Town for shopping and sandwiches at Casanova's, or head to Paia for a stroll on the beach and some shopping at Mana Foods.

Several beautiful beaches are nearby, such as Hookipa Beach Park, Tavares in Kuau Bay, Paia Bay, Baldwin Beach Park, Baby Beach, Spreckelsville, and Kanaha Beach Park. If you're looking for streams and pools, Iao Valley, located above Old Wailuku, is a must-visit spot.

Finally, don't miss out on exploring the Haleakala volcano, Poli Poli, Kula, Twin Falls, and even some secret spots like Commando Hike. We hope you enjoy your stay in Maui and look forward to meeting you and discussing more great places to visit.

FOOD, WATER & SUPPLIES

Please bring your drinking water unless you don't mind drinking county tap water with a chlorine taste [we also have a water filter by the kitchen sink]. Also, bring your food, laundry detergent & everything else you might need that is unavailable on our amenities list & website. Also, remember that we do not have a replenishing service after our guests consume our complimentary & welcome supplies. We previously had food smell issues related to frying food or cooking meat. Please cover pans, protect the oven, & clean thoroughly when you are done. If we cannot clear the smell of the cooked food after we clean, your security deposit might be transferred to our next guest to compensate for having to deal with the smell.

FRUIT PICKING

Please NO fruit picking from our property trees, we host over 600 guests yearly.

ABOUT THE BUILDING

We rent three studios, together or separately. The studios are in 1 dwelling & are separated from each other by a 10 feet wide hallway & do not share any walls [they are 10 feet apart]. The walls on each side of the hallways are made of thick, large bricks filled with concrete and iron bars; these are not wood buildings. That's TWO 12-inch noise-proof walls to enhance privacy and noise control. Also, the hallways have their roof, keeping the spaces [with their roof] apart from each other. Although it is a building with three studios connected by two hallways, they feel very private, each positioned at different angles to enhance privacy. Each unit has its entrance.

BEDROOM AREA

The main bed is a medium softness memory foam calking.
There is also a full-size sofa bed [futon on the harder side].

BATHROOM

This is a private full bathroom with a bathtub, overhead shower, one toilet, one bidet, & 1 sink.
We provide one clean set of towels per guest, two rolls of toilet paper rolls, one small shampoo bottle, one small conditioner bottle, & 1 bar of soap.

BEDS

We have more than one studio at our property with different bed options.
When there are more than two guests, please inquire about the best option.

BEDDING / TOWELS

We provide one set of linens per bed, one set of bathroom towels, and one set of beach towels per guest.

DINING TABLE

The dining table seats four people.

KITCHEN

We have a full kitchen, including pots, pans, kitchen utensils, four electric burners, a full-size oven, a microwave oven, a toaster, a coffee maker, a blender, a medium-size fridge, and a beach cooler.

DISHES AND UTENSILS

Set of 4 dishes, utensils, water & wine glasses.

FREE LAUNDRY ROOM

Please remember that the laundry room is open for you to use from 9 am until 7 pm.
The laundry room is on the side of the 3rd building's garage [3rd building from the gate on your left-hand side]. Please bring your laundry detergent.

INTERNET / TV

We have SpaceX Starlink with 200 Mbps download speed and 18.8 Mbps upload speed. The smart TV is connected to Wi-Fi.

ELECTRICITY

The County of Maui provides our electricity. If they cut it off, we will not be held responsible as it does not depend on us. We do not have solar panels or other sources of alternative energy.

BEACH CHAIRS / BOOGIE BOARDS / BEACH TOYS FOR KIDS

We may or may not have beach chairs, boogie boards, and beach toys for kids available. If so, they will be in the laundry room, and you are most welcome to use them. Before checking out, please put them back in the laundry room.

WASTE, NUISANCE & DISTURBANCE OF PEACE

Mana Aina is very tranquil, so please help us keep it this way. If you decide to stay at our place, you agree not to use or permit the use of our property for any unlawful purpose, not to disturb the peace of our neighbors or surrounding persons, nor to utilize or permit the use of the premises in such a manner as to constitute a disturbance of the peace or a nuisance. No loud music or parties are allowed. If you would like to host an event with family & friends, please let me know & we can talk about it.

GUEST ACCESS

Please feel free to enjoy walking and jogging around the property.
There is a parking area where you may park up to 2 cars, but if you have a 3rd car, please let us know & we'll let you know where you may park it.

INTERACTION WITH GUESTS

We'll be happy to recommend places to visit or fun things to do in Maui; ask. Above all, we respect your privacy and wish you a most enjoyable and relaxing time while you stay at our peaceful place.

I'm an artist and art rep. If you are interested in abstract art, please ask me for my website, as VRBO does not let me share personal info here.

PS:

Because there is a housing shortage in Maui, to make your vacation plans a lot easier, reserve your vacation rental before you book your flight; air tickets are much easier to find than places to stay in Maui.

Please note that we follow a fair pricing policy that is frequently reviewed to match current market conditions. Therefore, we do not provide additional discounts, as we aim to offer all our guests equally fair and competitive pricing. Registration Number: TA-169-918-2592-01, GE-169-918-2592-01, 270130560000

Me and my wife had a great experience with Alejandro. He is very responsive and his property is unique and felt private. Quiet and a peaceful stay. The property is clean and the bed is comfortable, with all amenities that you would need (washer / dryer & beach equipment's). It’s a great starting point if you’re planning to do the road to Hana, it’s very close to the starting point. We would book his property again if we would come back to Maui and would recommend this over any hotel stay. Book it, you won’t regret it!

The place was beautiful, peaceful and lovely. The manager however was rather prickly and couldn’t understand the difficulty accessing instructions to enter property. I would print out instructions before you leave because the vrbo app doesn’t work if you aren’t connected to the internet. It also, sometimes doesn’t work period and you need to go to the browser to access the site, but for that you need to be connected to the internet. We left the place with the dishes done and the trash out but still he gave us a mediocre review in all categories. I guess our difficulty accessing Wi-Fi made him peeved. Oh, and his sweet dog preferred to stay at our’s. We would have loved to return but communicating with such a prickly character isn’t very interesting.

My wife and I are from Big Island and we wanted a get away to celebrate our 15th anniversary. This place was perfect! Well located, private, beautiful room and surroundings, and great price! Great host and highly recommended! Thanks for making our trip so special!

Great location, just past Pa'ia, near the north shore beaches and close to the start of the Road to Hana. Quiet, serene grounds well maintained and spacious. Made for tranquil nights with the sounds of the wind and waking up to the chirping of birds. Great amenities, with an abundance of interior space compared to any hotel or motel. It was really nice to come back to a secluded piece of nature after being out exploring all day. Staying amongst nature does have some minor drawbacks in that there were small bugs that could find their way in, especially at night but it did not bother us at all. Great host and property.

Words cannot describe the peace and quiet this property offers. Perfect location to access so many of the sights on Maui, but at the end of the day you return to this beautiful spot- away from the hustle and bustle. I couldn’t be happier with our decision to stay here.

I stayed here in January with my small family and we really enjoyed it. The studio was bright, clean & comfortable, and the surrounding property was beautiful and nicely maintained (while retaining a rural feel). We arrived late at night and Alejandro left all of the lights on to make it easier for us to find. Even still, we were nervous that we may be going up to the wrong door. Haha. We got to meet his super friendly dog, which was fun. The stars were very pretty at night and it was tranquil, but I wouldn't say "quiet" due to the roosters, insects, and birds :) We had a short stay, but I wish we stayed longer to explore the surrounding towns and activities. We had some great sushi and yummy breakfasts nearby. It's a good spot to head up the volcano or trek the road to Hana if that's on your list. Makawao and Pa'ia looked like they had some good boutiques for shopping if you're looking for non-ABC store like clothing, accessories, and souvenirs. I would absolutely recommend this special property to anyone who would share the space in a respectful way (not a wild party place, drive slowly, respect the guidelines). I'd reserve again here in a heartbeat.

We traveled after sunset and google maps showed us shorter curvy road which was quite scary given there were many blind turns and one lane roads(take highway 36 instead). The property is a great studio apartment with all the basic amenities. Alejandro was very prompt in responding and made sure everything was communicated appropriately

We lived like a Hawaiian in this tropical and QUIET setting. This gorgeous upcountry property provides the ultimate in peace and quiet: no traffic noise, airplanes, or noisy neighbors. Instead it was peace and quiet the whole time. The linens were luxurious. The couches comfortable. The kitchen had necessary pots and pans. The only downside was that the laundry was in a separate building. We would stay here again.

The property is nice and quiet. The booking process is pretty confusing and convoluted, at least for us it didn't follow the normal VRBO process. The owner is nice and mostly responsive.

Alejandro was a great host. The place is spacious and bright. And it’s very close to the beginning of the road to Hana!
