Pretty house, friendly cat, cold pool (in January, so...) no stove only microwave should be in bold on listing. I loved walking the beach even if there's not much of it. Windward side of island gets more rain but there's plenty to see...(botanical gardens, SeaLife Park) gorgeous sunrises.

Nice place in a quiet neighborhood. The only downside we saw was that the beach really wasn't a beach - all rocky. The views of the ocean are great.

Upstairs appartment created from a large single family home but great fit for two. The two rooms face the ocean with the most amazing view that is glorious to wake up to each morning. The pool is very nice but not very private— neighbors above and the property owners living room on one end. Very nice neighborhood and very cozy location. Definitely coming back here!

Just what we needed. Property was just as described in the description and from the reviews. Great to hear the constant waves and short walk to the cove.

Truly a wonderful place to stay while you explore Oahu. Fantastic location within a great neighborhood. The owner is amazing and made our experience all the more wonderful.

The place was nice. When I booked my stay, it indicated a ladder leading to an upper loft with twin bed. Well, that loft was locked off and not available. The beach was unusable in front of the unit BUT most disturbing was a maintenance man working in the space in the middle of the day. It was a nice place but I wouldn't stay again.

If you want close proximity to the ocean, you can’t beat this rental. There is no beach or access, and since we visited in Fe, the waves were large and the rocky shore provided us with plenty of fireworks! For older couples, you must be able to do stairs. There is no laundry within unit , but the owner will let you use theirs providing it is available. For active people like my husband and I, it would have been better to have our own laundry. Lap pool is great but not heated and cold in the winter. It is a gorgeous pool. The owners are easy to reach, friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful week in Kailua.

We were last minute visitors due to bringing our daughter to Oahu to work for 6mo. The owners were more than helpful with our last minute reservations. The property was mostly up to our expectations, as we were really not there except to sleep and shower. We enjoyed our stay, the bed was comfortable, the shower was nice (some mold though) and the interior was nicely appointed. The only drawback was the two sets of windows looking over the water seem to be older and have only one window each that opened. Not a deal breaker by any means, but nicer windows would have been nice. If that side of the island is preferable, and your okay with limited cooking options in the kitchen (other than the lack of a stove, the owners have it well stocked with appliances), then this would be a wonderful place to stay.

Kailua is a short drive from Honolulu and much more residential. The unit was as described with an ocean view and small beach just down the road. If you’re hopping around the island like we were it’s a great option with easy parking and lots of beaches and restaurants within a 10-15 min drive.

The location and view were great. The unit was cool. upon arrival after a 12 hour flight the entry code did not work. The second be, which was located in the loft was not ready - bed not made and not clean.

Tom and Lucinda were great. Property was right on the ocean. Very peaceful! We stayed in the oceanfront suite, amazing views and sleeping to the sound of the ocean. The location is really good, less than 5 minutes from Kailua beach and shopping. We just wanted a relaxing weekend away from home. The pool was perfect. The suite had everything you would need for a stay (minus groceries). The bed was comfortable and it has A/C if needed. We just opened the windows and used the breeze and fans. Mahalo for your hospitality.

We had a great time staying at this property. The owners are very nice and quick to take care of anything needed. They are a font of great knowledge on the best beaches in the area and I hope they put their stellar knowledge of the area into a welcome binder for future guests. This is our favorite area of Oahu and the town of Kailua is adorable with lots of good restaurants. The location of this property really is perfect, with a nearby Safeway, and the town of Kaneohe is not too far and a beautiful drive away. The beach amenities provided are fantastic and include boogie boards, umbrellas, beach chairs, mats, and a canopy. We brought a soft cooler with us, but found that unnecessary as there was a hard cooler in the living room closet. The swimming pool really is as amazing as the pictures make it seem. In fact, it was even longer than we thought it would be. We celebrated our 30th anniversary here and it was an ideal place to do it!

Better than advertised! Beautiful property overlooking crashing waves and a sunrise view. Thoughtful decor and amenities. The hosts were unobtrusive, gracious, and always quick to respond. Quiet neighborhood conveniently located close to Kailua and Lanikai beaches. We had a wonderful stay!

Overall I would recommend this place just based on the sunrises and the proximity to the Pacific Ocean. Shopping was convenient also. There was an electrical issue that was fixed as fast as possible and there were flying ants. That could not be remedied till after we left-which thankfully was the next day. I took one star off for the cleanliness as the cooking utensils could have used a better scrubbing. We only interacted with Tom, the home owner, and he was a genuinely nice man. First time using vrbo.

We spent 4 days at this property. First the pros: 1) Owners are super-sweet, and very communicative and helpful (they're on the property upstairs); 2) front row on a wild majestic shore, waves crashing, really unique and beautiful; 3) a beautiful, friendly resident Ocicat named Marble; 4) a few mins walk to a beautiful beach cove with turtles, calm surf etc.; 5) clean interior, awesome shower, comfy bed/linens; 6) great neighborhood and close to everything in Kailua. Cons: 1) small-ish unit; 2) furniture could use an upgrade; 3) kitchen is a bit underequiped (only a microwave/fridge); 4) some of the windows failed/not working. We really did enjoy our time here, but felt the unit could have been more spruced up for the price.

Wonderful property situated right in the ocean. Owners were very nice and accommodating. Home is situated in a nice residential community. We’d stay again in a heartbeat.

This is a great place right above the beach. Wonderful to sleep with the salt air blowing through the windows. Just as wonderful to wake to a sunrise over the ocean.

March 2022
We enjoyed our stay at this lovely property with the amazing waterfall lap pool. The Views in the front unit look out on the ocean with the surf pounding right up on the lava rock shelf. There is no beach right in front of the unit, but we drove over to Kailua Beach and Lanikai Beach just a few miles away, so we still got our beach time in. We did enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool upon returning from the beach. The pool is only for guests staying at the property, so if you're visiting friends and/or family they can join you by the pool to grill out a burger and eat in their lovely garden like area, but your guests will not be able to go in the pool. However, we just made a beach day of it with our friends and it worked great. Lucinda and Tom were gracious hosts as were their sons Todd and Cody. Nice beach chairs, boogie boards and beach towels available. And you can do a load of laundry a day in their washer/dryer in the garage, so that was nice as we were there for two weeks. Overall it was a great visit!

Views and sunrises from our bedroom were spectacular! Beds were very comfortable and living area was perfect for our stay. Lap pool and garden were absolutely gorgeous. Conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood close to town and areas beaches. Lucinda and Tom were perfect hosts. Highly recommended

Property is clean, with a few updates, shower is wonderful, microwave was confusing. LOL. A few little things like the main window is still dirty from a previous complaint. Light on table still not working. One window is broken and the couch has certainly seen its better days. Tom was super friendly and will help with any questions. Location is quiet, and you will need to drive a few minutes if looking for an actual sandy beach. Walking the rocks and listen to ocean was nice

The view is so beautiful and the owners are just wonderful! Anytime we called with a question or need, they responded very quickly. Lucinda, made many inquiries on our behalf, from dinners reservations at our favorite restaurant to finding the best place to see dolphins swimming free in the ocean. We really enjoyed out stay.

This was a great property for me and my daughter to stay in for a week. It’s in a more upscale, quiet neighborhood. The views of the sunrise in the morning over the water were beautiful. Even though there’s no beach (it’s rocks and drop-off), The house sits right on the water and there is a bit of sand before the rocks where you can sit and relax. The beach itself is a very short drive away. The owners were welcoming and very responsive when we had any questions. We enjoyed our stay and will stay here again.

Escape the crowded Waikiki scene to this romantic rental for two! This amazing oceanfront location is in a peaceful neighborhood! We stayed in the ocean view side and loved watching the waves crashing out of every window! Though this area is not suitable for swimming, we enjoyed walking along the rocky area and found beautiful shells and seaglass! We also loved the tropical pool which is shared with one other unit. The owners were onsite and available to fulfill requests. The unit is tastefully decorated and very clean! We loved the proximity to the quaint shops and restaurants in Kailua! We wholeheartedly recommend this rental!

This property is right on the water and has great views. The neighbourhood is quiet and upscale and the pool is amazing - although absolutely freezing cold and not for the faint of heart (the ocean warmer). The homeowners were really great and very receptive to our requests. The home is walk-able distance to the Safeway and a couple of restaurants and just a 10 minute drive to a beautiful beach. It is a residential area though so you will have to drive to access most amenities. All in all it is a very good value. The negatives - The unit could be cleaner. There was mould in the bathroom and dust on the fixtures, baseboards and walls were not scrubbed. I think much of this is due to the location of the home - it is situated so close to the ocean that it is sprayed by salt water every night. The damage of the salt water is evident on all of the properties in the area and I think maintenance in these conditions is difficult. But if you are a clean freak this is probably not the property for you. There is also no oven and cooking on the provided hot plate is not easy - so if you are planning to eat in most nights this should be kept in mind. For the price - this is a very good option.

August 2014
We stayed in the ocean view room. We were visiting some friends on the island but wanted to have our own space so we did not impose. However thats exactly what we felt like at this accommodation. We were greeted with a list of "don't"s including to not run the air-conditioning for long periods of time bc if effects the landlord. Having the windows open was not advised. Finally the pool I longed to swim (also having a list of don'ts) extended down to the living room of the landlord making it awkward to use the entire pool. Additionally none of the waterfalls nor lights were ever on to make it as inviting as the photos. The wifi was slow and unable to cope with Netflicks or HULU. Finally the deck had a nice view of the water but the chits didn't fit under the table so eating dinner outside wasn't a reality. However the view from the bedroom made up for a lot. The sunrise from bed was gorgeous and the loud AC unit made sure you were awake for it. The Apartment was very clean kitchenette was well stocked. From the photos the shower/bathroom looked better in the "Mountian view" room.

We stayed 5 nights in the ocean front unit. we are a couple with a 7 yr old, and this was great. Location cannot be beat. Quiet and beautiful with services just a few blocks away. The room had what we needed( the only improvement to be made would be a better pull out mattress, or airbed option, the single pull out was flimsy and even a stretch for a 7yr old, would not have worked for an adult- however the room is mostly for 2 they only sometimes accommodate 3- this is the only downside I have to comment on,). We made small meals in the kitchen, there were plenty of towels, and a few random beach items to borrow. CLEAN. Safe parking, Quiet, and we met the host a number of times, and she was Ultra Helpful. The pool is a treasure.( Hello Gypsy!) I will definitely recommend this place to friends and family (and already did to people we know on the other side of the island). MAHALO... we hope to see you again.

This condo was exceptionally clean and had all the amenities needed. Just bring your snacks & drinks! Beautiful ocean view out from front room/kitchen & bedroom. Wake up to the sound of the ocean! Stainless steal frig & kitchen sink. Beautiful appointed cabinets in kitchen. Bathroom divided up into two rooms - 2 showers & tub; dressing & sinks other room. Lots of closet space and owner had pool & beach items available to use. Grounds around apt were immaculately kept as well as the pool area. Would stay there again in a heartbeat if ever get back to Oahu! Thanks for the wonderful stay. You do need transportation though as shopping is very minimal and not within walking distance. Not a huge choice of eating places either but if you get there, do try 'Big City" for bkfst and "Buzz" for dinner - amazing food. Access to walk along beach is pretty far away as well but if you want 'quiet' this is the dream place.

The location is quite good - quiet, away from the hustle and bustle, oceanfront, with a lava ledge in front, so the waves will lull you to sleep. The one bedroom apartment is on the small size, but works fine for two. Any more and it will be crowded. The Kitchen could use more equipment and they need some reading lamps. The owners let us do laundry, which was helpful. They leave you be so you feel like you're on your own, which we liked. They are very friendly and helpful. It's about a 1 mile walk to a nice shopping center with a great coffee shop - Muddy Waters, grocery store and some restaurants. The beach is about 1.5 miles, then you get a long, beautiful walk on the beach. It's about a 3.5 mile walk into Kailua town itself. We enjoyed our week.

As stated in the listing, this is two separate units above the owner's residence. We stayed in the Mountain View and a relative was in the Ocean View. The Mountain View had a great king bed and lots of beach equipment as well as a bidet seat on the toilet. On the lanai, you could hear the ocean and the birds while eating breakfast. Additionally, outside the front door is a table and chairs that have a nice view of the ocean and good breezes. The units are in a residential neighborhood and very quiet, although the neighbors' yards are close by. The air conditioning unit worked well; out only concern was that there weren't screens on doors and windows and so even when cool out, we didn't want to leave the doors open. There is a loft with two beds, but it's hot up there and per the picture, needs to be accessed by a steep ladder. The ocean front unit also had no screens; there was a nice table and chairs set up outside the door that had a breeze and nice view of the ocean. There are two separate rooms in the OV; a bedroom and a living room. The bath is off the living room. re: Beach Access. about a block away, is a tiny, rocky beach which has a really pretty view of the Kailua beach across the bay. You can sit and swim there, but wear beach shoes and be aware that it stays shallow for a long ways. There's public beach access to the Kailua beach about a mile away; you could walk to that. Then there's public beach parking at about 2 and 3 miles away. Note that there is limited parking for the Kailua beach and one should plan on getting there early. However, it is a wonderful beach.

A beautiful place to stay on the windward coast just down the road from Kailua town centre and its lovely eateries and of course beach park. A central location for touring up and down the coast. My daughter and I stayed in the mountain view apartment and we were fortunate enough to be back from touring in time to take advantage of a clear night with a lovely moon on the water. Awesome sight. After a day on the road, the pool was extremely refreshing. The apartment is only a quick drive into town where we sampled the restaurants and completed any necessary shopping.. The apartment was clean, comfortable beds and everything that we could have needed was available to us. It was lovely to sit and relax on the lanai in the morning, Lucinda made us feel very welcome and directions were perfect. I didn't get lost (a miracle in itself especially driving on the opposite side of the road in a foreign country). Would highly recommend if you are looking for some relaxation or something a bit out of the way, but which is easily accessible to other parts of the island should you have the need to explore. If would definitely want to stay again should I make a return trip. Mahalo

My husband and I loved our stay in the ocean-view suite this summer. The neighborhood is gorgeous and perfect for an early-morning walk along the ocean or among the beautiful homes. The nearby public sandy beach offers amazing views of Kailua Bay, and what we think were views of Kailua Beach Park and the world-famous Lanikai beach (both just a short drive from the house). Watching the sunrise from the picture windows in the bedroom and sitting room (or from the table on the lanai) is a real treat, so make sure you wake up for the sunrise at least one of the days! Between the wall of windows and the skylights, the entire suite is filled with beautiful ocean-view light all day, and the sky seemed to put on a spectacular show for us every day. You would pay a small fortune at any hotel for such a pristine and unforgettable view. Our ocean-view suite shared the top floor with another rental property, and the owners live on the bottom floor — but even so, our place was completely private and a true romantic getaway. I dealt primarily with Lucinda via e-mail, and she was always prompt, kind and accommodating with answering my questions. Plus, she recommended one of our new dinner favorites (the magical Haleiwa Joe's), which makes her unforgettable in my mind! The nuts and bolts of it: The bed was comfortable, and I've actually been meaning to e-mail Lucinda and ask the brand, so we can keep it in mind next time we buy a bed! The AC units cooled down the suite quickly after we'd been out for the day, and the fans kept the place cool and comfortable after we turned off the AC. We couldn't keep the windows open during strong wind or storms because of rain and ocean spray, which is totally understandable for an ocean-front location on the windward side. And finally, just a note that the rental is up a flight of stairs (maybe 10-12 steps), which may be tough if you have heavy suitcases or trouble climbing stairs.

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
