NOTE: We are just a few miles outside the entrance to Volcanoes National Park but are in NO danger from either Kilauea or Mauna Loa eruptions. It's a magical time to be on the Big Island!!!

Tutu's Place is owned by Hawaii-born Lorna Larsen-Jeyte, the former co-owner of Kilauea Lodge. The 1,000 sq. ft (92m) cottage, located in the heart of Volcano Village, 1 mile from Volcanoes National Park on a private lane with no through traffic. We can welcome up to 4 guests in two bedrooms (one with a king bed, and one with a twin and double size bed). Enjoy a Jotul gas fireplace in your living room, a full kitchen, smart television for streaming and a large garden with outdoor dining table.

This home is located in the heart of Volcano Village, a small artists’ community located just outside of Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. At 3,750 feet altitude, the town of Volcano, and most of the National Park, enjoy a cooler climate than the sea-level communities. The private road, Hale Ohia Lane, is treed with a wide variety of old growth species and immediately takes one back in time to the days of Old Hawai'i. Decor inside the home is also true to the unique sense of place with stained glass windows, joyful fabrics and all the needed comforts for a memorable stay.

This home is directly across the quiet street from "Ola'a House" and the two properties can be rented together for wonderful larger gatherings accommodating up to 9 guests. (Ola' a Property ID 9358777)

The cottage has its own private driveway with ample room for parking. No washer or dryer on the property. There is a laundry place just up the road.

We have four homes available for rent in Volcano Village (search by name):

This place is such a cute place. It feels like an old bungalow. Our daughters loved waking up every morning and plying out in the big front yard and back yard. The beds are comfortable and slept all 5 of us perfectly. It’s probably a 3 minute drive to the park entrance, which was awesome because it was easy to come back for dinner and then make an attempt to see the lava glow after dark. The kitchen was nicely stocked and we were able to make all our meals in it. We didn’t try the restaurant that is within walking distance but we liked that that was an option if we needed it. All in all, a great place to stay for touring the volcano!

We absolutely loved our 3 night stay at Tutu's Place. Very spacious and everything worked as expected. The cottage was very clean and we had solid communication with the owner/manager. This place is very quiet and secluded yet close to the Volcano Village shops/restaurants and a 5 min drive to the Volcanoes National Park entrance. It is a very special place and we can't wait to return to Tutu's again.

Charming home close to volcano and walking distance to restaurants and ebike rentals. Great Wi-Fi and plenty of linens. My only slight complaint was that the shower water pressure was weak. Everything else was so wonderful though.

Our family loved this place. It is where human history and natural history come together. Loved the historic nature of the cottage along with the gardens and close proximity to Volcanoes. Everything worked great.

Tutu’s place was way more than I expected! It was a well maintained and beautiful house. A very comfortable stay with just the right amount of charm and touches to make you feel right at home. I would most definitely stay here again. Mahalo for allowing us to take a well deserved break from busy Oahu. I wish we could have stayed longer! Aloha!

This place was amazing! The house itself was so charmingly historic and the attention to details and amenities was top notch! There was even a large supply of bandaids and Neosporin under the bathroom sink for all the times my kids fell while hiking in the park! Park access was so easy and the dead end street was very private and safe. LOVED this place and would definitely stay again. Thank you!!

We had a wonderful stay at Tutu’s Place. It was cozy and cute with a renovation that updated the cottage beautifully yet retained the character of the home. We were able to easily walk to stores and restaurants in Volcano. It was a short drive to the national park. I highly recommend this home.

When we googled the location of Tutu’s Place and realized it would be in the middle of the Volcano Village, we thought we’d be disappointed. But we were delightfully surprised. Tutu’s Place was clean, and secluded. We’re there for 5 nights to celebrate our 39th anniversary, and the bed was firm and very comfortable. Thank you for putting out some Christmas decorations! We enjoyed the walk to the Village Store which was so close by, in the rain with an umbrella! We highly recommend this place!

The house and yard are so well maintained. The house is clean, with some vintage touches like stained glass windows, door handles and light switches. One nice touch was the instructions on the coffee pot (along with ground coffee) so your morning isn’t ruined by terrible coffee. It’s about 30 minutes to Hilo but a pleasant drive.
