The property was spacious and lovely, the surroundings were lush, and amenities were enjoyable (kitchen, laundry, hot tub, wifi, etc). There was no fruit and english muffins - just 2 individual bags of dried mango... We do not drink coffee... So we made a run for high priced hot chocolate and pancake mix. This location is very convenient to the park but limited in services/shopping. I would stay here again!

We rented this and the adjacent sister home for our group of 14 family. The place was elegant, clean, comfortable and everyone loved the jungle hot tub. And the coquis were a delightful serenade at night. It’s a 5 minute drive to the park.

We were only a one night stay and the the whole thing was amazing. Located right outside the Volcano National Park was so convenient t. I highly recommend spending some time here. And to top it off the grandkids loved the basketball.

Our family of 5 enjoyed this home very much! It was like staying in a tropical jungle with beautiful, lush landscaping all around and less than 2 miles from Volcano National Park.
The home had everything we needed for our stay and we loved the option of sitting on the back deck or in the hot tub after a long day of hiking.
The neighborhood is very quite, which we really liked! A great home to feel like you are getting away from it all if that is what you are looking for.

This house is beautiful, on the surface. Our experience started badly when we were charged extra for two persons when we were a family of 4 renting a house that sleeps 8. When we questioned it, the manager became very defensive. By the way, the living room only seats 4 so 8 would be very awkward. The furniture and bedding were tired and worn, the peeler wouldn't go through a potato's skin, and all but two of the dinner plates were chipped. The "fruit for our first breakfast" was an individual bag of dried mango. I'll stop there. We didn't expect everything to be brand new but this was disheartening. It felt like death by a thousand cuts.

Beautiful place- we enjoyed the hot tub, the swing in the backyard, the beautiful plants around the property. There was a pheasant couple that came out to hang out with us every day. The frogs at night were magical and the birds during the day soothing. It was the perfect first couple days of our trip.

Booking was easy and we received all the necessary info for check on time. The house looks beautiful, it’s laid out well, has everything you need. Location for accessing Volcanoes National Park is great.
However, when we got there, the house has an overall odor of cleaning products. Pledge, glade, or something similar. A few hours in, that odor was taken over by a musty/moldy smell. Now we know why is was heavily scented. There was a little mold on many windows, but the worst area was the master bath. There was a large stain on the ceiling next to the light, the windows and bath/shower wall was covered in mold/mildew. We were only there for 2 nights (4/12/23 and 4/13/23) and I am glad it wasn’t longer. Would not book again.

We had a short stay on the Big Island, and this place was perfect! We loved the jungle setting of this house. The house fit our 4 adults and 4 kids pretty well, the only possible thing could have been a pullout couch for the youngest kids. However, that was a very minor. The kitchen is stocked with enough equipment to make what you want. The layout and decorations were very nice. The driveway was narrow for our 15 passenger van, but felt very secluded, and we loved it. The yard was beautiful and there were pheasants and chickens and lizards all around. The kids loved the covered basketball court, hot tub, and swing. The deck and grill were a nice addition to this house. You are within a few minutes of Volcano National park and a short distance to Hilo. I am very grateful we were able to stay here, and wished we could have stayed longer. Mahalo!

We were 7 - grandparents, parents and children - twins (8) and a 4 yr old. We were all comfortable and had lots of space. The house feels like it is in a wonderful jungle with lush green plants and birds and pheasants around us. We didn’t get to use the hot tub because of our timing but wish we had. The house is well thought out with all that you might need for entertainment- especially a child. The basketball court was a huge hit with everyone especially to be able to be outside when the rain came. Hosts were very communicative and quick to answer questions or give suggestions for meals and seeing the area and national park. We really enjoyed our stay- great drinking water!

It was a dream come true to see the active lava on this trip. This home was the perfect base with its proximity to the park. The home itself is beautiful and the outdoor areas were great. It rained most of our time there but we enjoyed the covered porches and basketball area.

This is a wonderful property in an ideal location in Volcano. Tucked away in the jungle we felt like we were the only person‘s around. Being five minutes from volcano national park was ideal and we were able to thoroughly enjoy our time in the park. We will definitely stay there again.

We enjoyed this lovely home so much, we all wish we had planned for more time here. The property was spotless, and although we didn't do much more than sleep and shower, the home seemed to have everything one could possibly need. Do yourself a favor, schedule an extra day or two outside of the national park to enjoy this lovely property!

This property is so unique and quite a special find. It is extremely close to Volcano National Park which is an added bonus as you can see the park in the day and pop back over at night once the crowds are gone to see the lava. What a treat also to hear all the birds and animals at night as you are truly in a secluded rain forest setting with no one close by. The hot tub was a huge bonus and all the space inside the house. It would be nice to have a few more window coverings in the bathroom but again, no one is around to see in. The host was amazing and gave us many suggestions for places to eat and also informed us of a power outage that had occurred and when it was back up and going again. What a pleasant experience we had and the fresh fruit made a delicious salad for dinner. Would love to stay here again.

Loved the setting for this home in the rain forest. Needs a little bit of furniture updating in the bedrooms and living room. Very nice kitchen and dining room. Bathrooms show signs of needing updating. Cleanliness in the bathrooms can be improved. However, overall it was a very nice experience.

This house has a deep-in-the-jungle feeling but it is actually VERY conveniently located to Volcano National Park and all the cute galleries and eateries in Volcano Village. The proximity to the park made it easy to return at night to see the glow of the lava lake!
The open space design and warm natural woods of the interior create a peaceful environment. We experienced three days of blue sky and sun, which I’m told is NOT typical. But we could see how the games in the living room would provide lots of entertainment options if the weather was cool or rainy. The kitchen was well stocked with condiments, which made preparing meals much easier. The hot tub was relaxing!
We highly recommend this house for anyone visiting this side of the big island. Another highlight was driving to the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden (about an hour away) and the lovely 4-mile scenic drive along the coast there. Mahalo!

We absolutely loved this property! The house was clean with plenty of space for my husband and I and our two adult children. It’s very close to Volcano NP so we were able to view the erupting volcano at night and be home quickly there after. The back patio is perfect for working on a computer with coffee in the morning and enjoying a cocktail in the afternoon. Easy instructions for access and great communication. We loved this stay and highly recommend it!

We stayed at this home May 2022 and it was like staying at a good friend's home. The kind of friend that thinks of all the details to make your stay enjoyable, comfortable and easy! The layout is perfect for couples or families with all the bedrooms on the 2nd floor and you literally see a canopy of tree tops out your window in the morning and have the frogs and birds for your white noise at night. Very clean home and well stocked kitchen down to aluminum foil, spices and all the extra things you need if you want to cook at home. The location is less than 10min to Volcanoe National Park (get an annual pass, so much easier) We went back 3 times in 1 day/night! Adam, our host could not of made the home functions more clear and easy for us and reached out several weeks prior to our stay with a list of restaurant options and additional venues to check out. This one won't disappoint!

Beautifully designed home. Everything was as described/expected/pictured. Communication with manager was excellent from booking through our stay. A note to future visitors - the house is a bit damp/musty. It’s the climate. Every place I’ve ever stayed in Volcano is like this. My advice is to light the stove in the kitchen for a few hours even if the house is not cold. This helps tremendously. Also, try to avoid arriving at night - the area is very, very dark! The proximity to downtown Volcano and the National Park cannot be beat! We highly recommend ‘Ohelo Cafe for dinner (they currently require a reservation and proof of vaccination).

This is a great location for visiting the park and even for trips down to Hilo and Puna. Very nice house with a well appointed kitchen, comfortable bed and nice bathroom.
One thing to note is that there are lots of stairs...to get into the house and to get to the bedrooms on the second level... fine if you can carry your luggage and supplies up stairs. Another thing to note is that in the winter Volcano can be quite chilly and this house has a wood stove for heat. Add some fleece to your packing.
Would have given the place 5 stars except for the hot tub. We booked this location (and paid extra) because of the tub....we got it to work only once because the jets were on when we arrived! Otherwise it seemed to have a mind of its own and never heated above 97*....and we could never get the jets to come on again. We followed the instruction to a T - but they were a bit obtuse (we never could find the "down arrow") and we were very disappointed that it would not function after a cold wet hike -- Kilauea Iki is fantastic by the way - especially in the mist! Again, you have to like steps!

This house is a gem! Sweet spot in a special location! The sounds of the birds all day and pheasants walking around in the property were awesome. This was hands down the best vacation rental home we’ve ever stayed in. The location couldn’t be more relaxing settled into what feels like your own private tropical rainforest.
The home is gorgeous inside - and everything is clean and in near perfect shape. It was the perfect place for us to explore Volcanoes National Park.
And the cherry on the top was the hot tub to relax in at the end of the day. Would recommend 11 out of 10!

This is the fourth or fifth time we have stayed here. It is a great property tucked into the rain forest. You feel like you are staying in another world not 3 blocks from the highway. We spent the evening relaxing by the fire, the morning in the hot tub Volcanoes NP and the Volcano Village are moments away. No other place can we stay in volcano

During our only night at the home, I messaged the owner a question about whether the TV in the house was "smart" or not that we didn't get a response from until after we check out. If this was our only issue, then no big deal. Five star review.
The real problem happened when we left one of our backpacks in the rental which we didn't realize until 6 hours after checkout when we were on the other side of the island at the airport unpacking our car. We messaged the property owner immediately to confirm that we did leave it at rental. No response for 17 hours so I messaged again asking if housekeepers found the bag. He finally responds with confirmation and asks for address to mail back. Two whole days pass before I have to ask "Any update here?" He responds saying the housekeepers will send it the next morning.
Two more days pass without any confirmation of the backpack being sent. My frustration with his complete lack of responsiveness boils over. I responded with "It's been two days. Surely you have an update to share with me."
He then responds defensively with how incredibly nice the housekeepers were to contact him so quickly. I can't believe he bragged about this because if he had passed their message along to us through the VRBO app during the 4 hours when we were still in the area we could have easily stopped by the rental to pick up on our way back to the airport.
I then told him that from my extensive experience with VRBOs I'm used to owners responding within hours...not days...of my messages he again responds defensively and even threatens to "forget the whole thing" and not send out backpack back at all. This backpack, by the way, contains our passports and covid-19 vaccination cards...among many other hard to replace items.
Now that the owner is trying to strongarm me into being complacent, I lay off and wait again for an acknowledgement of our backpack being mailed. After three more days of waiting, I finally reached out to the owner again. When I do he responds with a receipt that tells me A) the backpack had been mailed three days ago and B) that the actual postage rate was $50 cheaper than he quoted me earlier. The high quote got me suspicious enough to ask for picture of receipt. I'm so glad I did.
My recommendation to the PO...hire a property manager. I get that juggling two jobs and two kids is difficult but you can't just collect paychecks from VRBO without providing a decent amount of customer service for your travelers.

I feel very lucky that we found this house and were able to book it! It is exactly what we needed for our 2 night stay in Volcano Village. There were four adults and 2 kids and the house setup was perfect for all of us. The house instructions were very well written. We played a couple of the games in the evening and just had a really great time. Highly recommended!

If you want to explore Volcano National Park or any activity close to Hilo this is the spot! The rainforest feel of falling asleep to tree frogs and waking to chipping birds is so special. Wonderful communication with great restaurant recommendations. We explored lots of water falls, spent some time visiting Hilo and enjoyed hiking nearby. Would stay again.

Exactly what we wanted after our wedding! Beautiful home in a gorgeous secluded setting...after sightseeing all day, could not have asked for a more inviting place to come home to. Dinner and glass of wine on the lanai after a soothing hot tub. Thank you for making our honeymoon perfect!!
We also enjoyed your recommendation for lunch and dinner. We had a casual lunch at Lava Rock and Thai Thai was very good for dinner. After dinner we went back to Volcano Nat'l Park to view the crater glowing at night...spectacular!!

We stayed here with a family of four and loved it. The woodwork in the house is beautiful, and the kitchen is set up well. I enjoyed seeing all the birds through the windows. My boys loved the basketball hoop and swing in the yard, and Adam was very helpful with advice for our trip into Volcanoes national park.

Due to poor management, the owner of this rental double booked the place on the busiest weekend of the entire year. We arrived on a rainy evening only to find another family firmly settled in the place we had rented and paid for. They too had booked and paid. Don't know if it is a nice place since we never got to use it. Ruined the weekend and convinced me that the owner should be clear on his website that he does not live on the Big Island but on the East Coast with a 6-hour time difference. He wasn't at all helpful in helping us find a place to stay. He did refund our money.

This peaceful property was great for our family of 5. Very clean and comfortable and felt like a home! The children really enjoyed the undercover car port playing basketball and the garden. Volcano national park was 5min up the road. Best to stock up on groceries before arrival although the Volcano Village market on the Sunday had some good produce and meals.

Our family of 5 - kids 20, 17 & 13 - had a wonderful 2 night stay at Hale 'Apapane, over New Year's.
We were there primarily to explore Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and this house could not have served us better. Up early each morning, we were minutes away from the park and hours ahead of the crowds. The house was a delight to return to for meals and to recharge.
The hot tub and basketball hoop offered relaxation for the kids, while mom and dad found the kitchen well equipped and the furnishings beautiful. The sounds of the rain forest in the early morning and at sunset from the back deck were nothing short of amazing.
Adam was easy to work with and everything was in order for our stay. We made a great choice - thanks, Adam.

We spent two nights at this Volcano home. Thank you for the fresh fruit bowl and all the kid friendly toys! Baby used the portable crib and we made use of the house's many amenities. There's so many windows that look out onto the lush tropical ferns and plants that surrounded the house. The home has a lot of natural wood elements that enhance the tropical feeling.

I would not recommend this property to anyone who has allergy problems. When we turned down the beds, we discovered there were no blankets on the beds, just the bedspread to be used as a blanket. We had a sleepless night the first night due to the dust mites and dampness of the bedspread. The housekeeper brought blankets the next morning and that relieved some of the problem.

Thought the house was gorgeous and I was really thrilled with Adam's willingness to work with us on our specific needs. We were too exhausted following a day of hiking to enjoy the hot tub, but everything was as described. My only suggestions for improvement would be to upgrade the bath towels to something larger and more absorbent, but certainly not a big deal. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

I spend two months a year in Hawaii, always renting a home for my lodging, and by far, this home has surpassed all others. It is incredibly beautiful, and in an idyllic location. The owners provided everything that we needed to make our stay comfortable, from fresh fruit for breakfast, to firewood for the cozy fireplace, to the beautiful lanai for morning coffee, and the hot tub in the rainforest. They even left the lights on so that we could arrive in comfort. I will stay here the next time that I come to Hawaii Island, and I would highly recommend this rental to anyone who is seeking the perfect rental home. Thank you so much for making our time on Hawaii Island so special.

You her every Information you need before, so it is easy to find. The house is very well maintained, clean, big and comfortably furnished!! The loacation inside the rainforest is very special and perfect if you wish to spend time at the Volcano np!
Note: there is actually not a real supermarket nearby, we didnt bother shopping at Hilo and we did regret it afterwards, we had nothing for breakfast and for our hiking trip in the np!
