Tastefully remodeled bungalow style 1-bedroom condo at the Kiahuna Plantation, a 35-acre beachfront condo resort in the sunny South Shores area that evokes memories of Kauai’s early sugar plantation lifestyle.
Enjoy a short walk through the lush tropical grounds to one of the island's best beaches, or stroll across the road to quaint restaurants, shops, or Starbucks. The condo features a large master bedroom with King size bed, and a Queen size sofa sleeper in the living room.

In Hawaiian “Kiahuna” means “Special Place”. The Kiahuna Plantation is indeed a special place that evokes memories of Old Hawaii during the early plantation days. The ONLY beachfront condominium resort in Poipu, its 35-acre ground features expansive landscaped lawns with mature palm, banyan and plumeria trees, lush tropical gardens with fragrant flowers, lily and koi ponds, orchid gardens, a picturesque lagoon, and low-density bungalow-style vacation condos.

A short walk through the beautiful grounds, or the historic Moir Gardens directly below our condo, and you'll be right at Poipu beach! The warm, turquoise water and crescent-shaped beach is protected by a reef, and is consistently rated by the travel industry as one of the top beaches in the US! The white sands of Poipu Beach are great for lounging, and the blue crystal water is ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and surfing.


OUR KIAHUNA CONDO AMENITIES (Unit #326 / Bldg 39)
Our condo has been extensively remodeled. Upgrades include new kitchen cabinets, stainless steel appliances, granite counters, two flat screens TVs, a DVD player, California King size mattress, modern furniture, and great lanai furniture. We also upgraded the bathroom to include a new vanity with granite top, and replaced the original tub with an attractive walk-in shower with slate tile and glass doors. While we updated the condo to today’s standards, we did leave the original Old Hawaiian plantation charm throughout with the original mahogany wood interior accents.


While most condos at the Kiahuna Plantation are breeze cooled, our condo has air conditioning! The furnished 240 square foot lanai looks directly over the famous Moir Gardens. There's also a convenient double BBQ island right next to our building, so cook your dinner and walk down to the beach or enjoy dinner on the lanai. Our condo offers great privacy, free Wi-Fi, free parking, in-room safe, no resort fees, and is smoke-free.


KIAHUNA PLANTATION AMENITIES
The Kiahuna Plantation features free parking, a beach-side activity center where you can get complimentary chairs, boogie board rentals, and a convenient Laundromat. The Plantation Gardens Restaurant, which is down the path from our condo, offers cocktails and dinner with great views of the grounds.


OUR CONDO’S LOCATION IN THE COMPLEX
Our condo is located in Bldg. 39 on the second floor (9 easy steps), and overlooks the historic Moir Gardens from the lanai. With the beautiful gardens behind our building rather than buildings, the condo offers complete privacy. It is considered a 'Garden View Deluxe' unit, as it does not have a direct view of the ocean, but is closer to the beach than the 'Garden View' units, and it offers great views and absolute privacy. Take one of the myriad of paths leading through the grounds, and you'll be on the Great Lawn or Poipu Beach in 4 - 5 minutes!

The Poipu Shopping Village is an easy stroll across Poipu Road. It features several restaurants including Keoki’s Paradise (our favorite!) that features an open-air setting with a small lagoon, tiki torches and indoor waterfalls! The village also features a number of casual eateries such as Puka Dog, Island Taco, Poipu Rock N' Roll Sushi, Papalini Gelato, and more. You'll also find a small grocery store, Starbucks, and many shops for gifts, art, travel, and clothing.

Outrigger Resorts offers the following optional services to be paid by the guests during their stay. These services can be ordered at any time, but Outrigger would prefer that they be ordered at check-in.

I will provide a list of activities that I recommend. World-class golf is minutes away at Kiahuna Golf Club, or the nearby Poipu Bay Golf Club. FAQs - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT'S THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS CONDO?
Value! While we offer great rates, our condo is far from a low-grade condo. It has been tastefully remodeled, is one of a few that has A/C, and is walking distance to Poipu Beach, as well as the shops, restaurants and bars at the nearby Poipu Shopping Village. It also provides privacy and amazing views of the Moir Gardens.

DOES IT HAVE A VIEW OF THE OCEAN?
No. (Actually, it has a partial view of the ocean from the lanai, and it is close enough to hear the surf in the evening.) It has amazing views of the Moir Gardens directly below the lanai.

HOW FAR IS IT TO THE BEACH?
The beach is a pleasant 4 - 5 minute walk through the beautiful grounds of the Plantation. You'll enjoy exploring the various pathways to the beach!

DOES THE CONDO HAVE AIR CONDITIONING?
Yes, our condo is one of the few that has A/C!

ARE WE REQUIRED TO PAY EXTRA EXTRA HOUSEKEEPING FEES AT CHECK-IN?
The check-out cleaning fee, which provides for cleaning the condo after each stay is paid at the time of booking. Note that we do require a mid-stay cleaning for stays of 10-days and for each successive 10-day stay. I can bill for this fee separately, or it can be paid directly to Outrigger Resorts at check-in.

DOES THE CONDO INCLUDE USE OF THE POOL & FITNESS CENTER?
Yes. All Kiahuna Plantation condos now include free membership for our guests at the Poipu Beach Athletic Center (PBAC) across the street. Reference www.PoipuClub.com for details.

MY RETURN FLIGHT LEAVES LATE. CAN I GET A LATE CHECK-OUT?
Housekeeping needs time to clean the condo for the next guests, so a late check-out isn't possible if guests are checking in on the day you leave. However, we have a great solution! The Poipu Athletic Center across the street offers a Departure Pass for $50 for 2 persons + $10 per extra person. Enjoy your last day by leaving your bags with them until their 7PM close. Enjoy the pool or any activities around the island during the day, returning later to shower and clean up prior to your flight home.

WHAT CATEGORY CONDO IS THE CONDO?
There are 5 condo categories ranging from Ocean Front (closest to beach) to Garden View (farthest from beach). Ours is a "Royal Garden View" condo, which is not too far from the beach, offers great privacy as well as great views of the Moir Garden.

WHAT FLOOR IS THE CONDO ON?
Our condo is on the second floor of Building 39. However, since the first floor is below the parking lot level, there are only 9 steps to climb!

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN THE CONDO ACCOMMODATE?
Fire code limits occupancy to a total of 4 persons, adults or children. However, for the comfort of my guests, I restrict it to a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children. The condo is ideally suited for a couple since there's a King size bed in the bedroom. However, the living room has a Queen size pullout sofa-sleeper that works great for children.

DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS FOR LONGER STAYS?
I do sometimes offer discounts for stays longer than 2 weeks. Please contact me.

WILL YOU OFFER A DISCOUNT FOR LAST MINUTE RESERVATIONS?
Sometimes. If we have open days that risk not getting booked, we may offer a discounted rate. As the check-in date nears and the risk of the condo remaining vacant increases I generally discount the rates proactively on Vrbo, so a further reduction may not be possible.

CAN YOU HEAR ROAD NOISE FROM THE CONDO?
About 25% of the buildings that house the condos are located at the back of the grounds along Poipu Road, including ours. With the bedroom shutters open you can hear some road noise. If you're a very light sleeper you may want to consider a condo closer to the beach; however, they are typically priced quite a bit higher.

WE HEAR THAT THESE CONDOS ARE OLD. HAS YOURS BEEN UPDATED?
Entering some of these condos is like going through a time warp to 1980, as many are still near original! Ours has been extensively remodeled, but still maintains the old Hawaiian plantation charm.

WHAT’S UP WITH ALL THE “LODGING TAXES”?
Hawaii likely has the highest lodging taxes in the country – and they’ve just got up even higher! There are in fact three separate taxes that visitors to Kauai must pay. First, the state charges Transient Accommodation Taxes (TAT) of 10.25% as well as 4.71% General Excise Tax (GET), which is a sales tax. The county of Kauai now charges its own 3% Transient Accommodation Tax (KTAT). While taxes are a necessary issue, Hawaii seems to rely heavily on tax revenue. The high taxes are also meant to help address the issue of “over-tourism” on Hawaii.
