I read some controversial things about the bis to give her condo online, so I had a few concerns, but I had to say they were all unwarranted. This place was absolutely beautiful and completely well-stocked. Everything we could possibly need. It is Ocean view and a huge three bedroom Home with fully stocked kitchen with spices and cooking spray! It’s these little details that matter. Super clean and had laundry soap and literally everything we could ask for. No beach umbrella was only thing that could have been added. Loved this place and we had an amazing stay!we come to Maui every year, twice per year and would stay here again!

We really loved our stay at Honua Kai. The kitchen was well equipped. The bedrooms and bathrooms were wonderful. The oven wasn’t lighting but it wasn’t any issue for us.
The views are the star though. It was wonderful to relax on the lanai, cocktail in hand to enjoy the sunset.

Loved the room itself, the view is fantastic!! However one of the ovens didn’t work and the writing has been rubbed off the other so we had to google the oven model to figure out how to turn it on.
We also requested sheets and towels on the first day of our stay and didn’t receive them until the 3rd day…. We actually never received the extra set of sheets and had to strip down other beds so that the person on the sofa bed had enough blankets to sleep with.
We really loved the room, and the resort, but the communication was just a little rough.

This place was lovely, large, and clean. The selection of plates, cups, bowls and other kitchen and cooking equipment was odd, but adequate. It was very nice having a washing machine and dryer in unit.
The unit also unexpectedly had a pack and play, high chair, and toddler potty. We actually brought our own not expecting them to necessarily have them, but it was great that those were available. The unit also had a small sand toy set, some umbrellas and sand seats, and boogie boards.
The highlight is definitely the fully opening patio or lanai with views both of the ocean and the volcano. We even saw whales while eating breakfast one day!
The location has great ocean access and a large pool complex. We would stay again!

We were thrilled to begin our family trip to beautiful Maui. Upon arrival, the unit looked great, the view was even better! Since we were traveling with five adults and one 4-year-old, our first stop was naturally at Costco to stock up on snacks & meals. After getting settled in, we then realized that the dryer that was advertised in the listing was out of order (there was a note taped on the front). This was unfortunate seeing that we packed light thinking we could wash and dry clothing to rewear throughout the week. DO NOT DEPEND ON THE DRYER WORKING.
The next morning we grabbed our wristbands and headed to the pool. Unfortunately, the wristbands did not work with the towel dispenser near the pool and we had to travel back up to our unit to bring the towels from our unit. BRING BEACH TOWELS WITH YOU.
After returning from the pool, we realized that the unit was getting very hot. We attempted to turn on the A/C, but realized it would shut off shortly after. From here on out, we had to keep all windows and blinds closed to keep the unit cool (so much for enjoying the beautiful view each day). DO NOT EXPECT A/C TO WORK.
On day three of our vacation, we decided to make breakfast before heading out. Upon opening the fridge, we realized it was not cold. We then opened the freezer and realized all of our ice had melted. We contacted Vacasa at this point to let them know. They said they would contact someone in maintenance and get back to us ASAP. No one contacted us for the remainder of our stay. We followed up with Vacasa on both Thursday and Friday to see if there had been any updates - none. In turn, we had to throw away ALL of the food we had just purchased from Costco, resulting us in eating out for every meal. Anyone with a 4-year-old knows how important snacks and meals are throughout the day. This put a huge burden on our trip due to there not being any coolers available in the unit (this would have allowed us to try to keep the food cool as long as possible). DO NOT DEPEND ON THE FRIDGE IN THE UNIT.
My recommendation if you are planning on staying in this unit, call ahead and make sure that the dryer, refrigerator/freezer, A/C, and wristbands are fixed. Had we known that the refrigerator/freezer and A/C would be broken during our stay, we would have opted to stay in a nearby hotel instead. Extremely disappointed in the response from Vacasa. A trip where we planned on having some meals in our unit turned into having to find reservations each day/night, and the expenses added up quickly. Any feedback (which was zero) was only received in calling them - not the other way around.
I am writing this review 9 days after we checked out of this unit, and even today, I had to be the one to reach out to Vacasa.

Have stayed at Honua Kai before and was sad to see how much it has gone down. Property isn’t being taken care of. And don’t rent through Vacasa. Received check-in code the day after we were scheduled to arrive and then learned we couldn’t access towels at pool, charge to our room, or even use the pool WiFi. As for the unit itself, it was dirty with several issues/ Sliding doors were broken, dryer didn’t work, freezer was frozen shut, dishwasher was rusted. Better places to stay for the money.

Beds, space and Bathrooms very nice.
Has Older Viking appliances sub Zero big fridge was broken, had little piece of crap fridge in there. Dryer also broken. Was disappointed for sure. Managment company did not have all names logged into system. So those that arrived early could not get in. Frustrating !!!!!

The overall stay was good, however there were a few things we weren't happy with. There was a lack of kitchen items such as a dish rack, dish towels, etc. which was quite frustrating. The dishwasher also didn't work well at all. We had to run it 2-3 times to get clean dishes. And on our last night, the dryer started making smoke. I called Vacasa right away as the condo was full of smoke and I had a baby with us. They told me they couldn't help me because their systems were down and so they couldn't pull up any reservations and would contact me back by the end of the day. Meanwhile we were in a condo full of smoke. It was ridiculous. We had to vacate until the smoke settled which ruined our day. We had planned to pack and do laundry. Luckily we didn't turn the dryer on and leave the condo otherwise it would have caught on fire. The whole situation was very dangerous and was not handled well by Vacasa at all.

It was a beautiful view and condo with great space but I stayed for 8 days and we didn’t have no room service I was on vacation for my wedding and we couldn’t get towels or bed Linen also we came from chicago so our ovens our different so we had no instructions of the TV channels oven or AC unit and it was so hot we couldn’t get no one there to help us into days later but over all it was ok

Location was great! Loved the area but a major inconvenience was washer was broke called and emailed got no response booked this for room size and it having a washer/dryer. We packed light for 7 people. No extra towels by mid week. No response to it getting fixed. Also couldn’t obtain pool side towels. For the price we paid very disappointed in the lack of customer service to help with issue.

We had 6 adults (3 couples) and this spot was perfect! Loved the ocean view for early morning coffee. This unit also faces away from the center of the resort so it was much quieter than the units our friends were staying in. Would definitely book it again.

Poor property management. Told us at the last minute they are painting the place!! They did offer refund and/or discount but doesn’t work well at the last minute.
Also we got there and the property management is abesent from property and had to call them on the mainland.
No instructions were left in the place and the local front desk could care less about answering any questions.

We came with my parents and two teenage children and this unit worked perfectly for us. You can’t beat the views from the lanai where we enjoyed morning coffee listening to the waves and watching gorgeous sunsets. The air conditioner in the main living area didn’t seem to work, but luckily we didn’t spend time there during the heat of the day and at night we could open the awesome nano walls. The most unfortunate thing was at check in where the management company had the wrong name on the reservation which delayed us by more than an hour getting into the unit. We’d consider booking here again.

This is a really nice unit for a large group or family - lots of space, a beautiful kitchen and big table for dining, with spectacular ocean view from covered balcony. It was also very clean and convenient to pools and beach. Can walk to grocery store and restaurants/shops (and even down to Whalers Village).

I stayed at this property before so i knew any room I booked would be great. Looked for a 3- bedroom property this time. Was a little nervous about the views we were going to get but it did not disappoint. Sunset come on! It was perfect . I’m a host myself of a vacation rental so I know what makes a great stay. The place was clean, amenities galore. They had everything for our stay. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent location and view, well stocked with all the kitchen and beach accessories one would need. There are a few small Maintenence items that could be addressed. The master bath toilet is very difficult to flush, the knives are not sharp at all, a couple shower heads are plugged and not flowing well, the fridge has missing/broken shelves, the freezer door is difficult to open/close and the alarm on it kept going off. The light over the dinning table was pulling out of the ceiling and the shades are torn. These were all minor issues and we still had an amazing time! The place was clean and well stocked with towels, paper products, cleaning supplies. I know we will be back again soon.

This property was perfect for our family of 7! With all adults and one infant the spacious bedrooms were perfect! The lanai with breathtaking views were perfect for cocktail hour! Definitely staying here again!

This is the ideal property for separate family units sharing a common space with 2 en-suite bedrooms and one bedroom with a lovely bathroom right across the hall. We totally enjoyed our stay.

We stayed for 8 nights at this property with 5 adults, a 6 yo and a 1 yo. This is our second time staying at honua kai. We love honua kai because of its location. Absolutely breathtaking sunsets. Amazing pools for the kids. Quick access to the beach. The condo was spacious and great. The kitchen had everything we needed. They have boogie boards, pool noodles, hair chairs, pack n play in the condo.
My biggest complaint is we stayed at honua kai previously. Booked through vrbo but it was apparently booked through Maui rentals instead of Vacasa. The Vacasa rentals do not give you access to the towel exchange. So they give you one beach towel that you have to use throughout the trip and have to keep washing. Along with that you cannot order drinks/food to your room which we were previously able to. It was hard to always have a cc around to charge food. Especially when you are in the pool having fun. The internet basically does not work - we ended up turning it off on our phones and using lte, so don’t plan to get any work done.
I will definitely come back to honua kai. I would come back to this condo, but I might see if there is a condo rented by a different agency so we can access all the amenities.

Everything wonderful about this unit except provided “resort” wifi is barely operable (too weak and constantly drops) we called mgr and she said she would have the sr tech guy contact us about in unit wifi. Never called. Also need posted instructions regarding trash disposal while staying there.
