Location was great. Easy walk to the beach. Overall clean place but some concerns. We arrived and there were multiple roach traps in the kitchen and saw quite a few roaches. The toaster was used once and started smoking. The freezer was very finicky and if the door wasnt pushed hard to shut the ice would melt. Lastly the hot water in the master bath shower didnt get above luke warm. Just a lot of little things I would have assumed at the price point wouldnt be happening.

This development is perfect for those who want ready access to both a pool and A Bay with its beach (and turtles!). The twin beds in the unit's guest bedroom were perfect for our 2 young grandchildren. We also really appreciated the plastic dishes and cups that could be taken to the pool; and the beach towels and sand toys for the beach.

Everything you want here. A very short walk to the beach and located near all the best beaches on the island. A beautiful clean home with all the amenities, along with a pool and hot tub in the complex. I would come back and stay here!

This condo was absolutely perfect. We had everything we need and more. All the beach necessities we provided for us. The beach was less than a 5 minute walk and the surf was super calm the whole time. The Kings and Queens Marketplace are both a short walk away. I would highly recommend this condo to anyone who wants a relaxing vacation.

We stayed at Kolea Kai 16D with our two granddaughters on their “Turning 10 Trip”. It was perfect for our purpose. They loved their bedroom suite and hanging out on the lanai. The place had everything we wanted and much more.

It's rare when an on-line listing matches the reality but this one hit the mark. 1st floor 2BR unit in the well located and well maintained Kolea Kai condo development Sandwiched between the Big Hilton and Big Marriott Kolea has direct beach access and is easily walkable to all shopping and many restaurants (go to Lava Lava Beach Club many times!). We had a rental car for off premises trips (Volcanoes Nat'l Park, Hilo Botanical Gardens, Hawi, Waimea, etc., etc., but you could get by without one for sure if you're just looking for a beach vacation! The unit itself was immaculate and had a well appointed kitchen and personal outdoor grilling station. Very comfortable King size bed in the master BR and 2 small twins in secondary make it ideal for a couple or family with younger childeren. We were here in late Jan/early Feb and saw many whales spouting and breaching right from the beach (so cool)! Go and enjoy!

Everything was great. The dishwasher is warn and needs replacing. The BBQ worked, unlike some of the neighbors. Beds and linens were nice - although thinner pillows would be appreciated. Clean throughout. Ample pots / pans / dishes for 4. Awsome!!

Our family of 4 (11 & 9 yo boys) enjoyed our stay. The condo layout is wonderful and is well appointed. Highly organized made it intuitive to make it ‘home’ for our trip. The location is perfect IMOP. North of the hustle of Kona, close enough for excursions, easy airport access, and minutes from Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area.
At the time of our stay the condo included four beach chairs, three boogie boards, towels; cooler, two beach umbrellas, simple snorkel gear.
The complex this condo is located in is top notch. Beautifully maintained grounds and easy access to the beach club and ocean.
Our recommendation would be to stay here along the western Hawaii coast. Ensure you visit the Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area.

This kitchen beat every expectation! Excellent selection and quality of utensils, pots, pans, chef knives, wine glasses, and gadgets. Saran wrap, tupperware, and a rotating shared pantry are all helpful when you like to cook while on vacation. The grounds of the property are gorgeous, and the pool area is a 10. This condo sits near our very favorite beach on the BI. We hope to return again soon!

My family just checked out a few days ago. I have stayed in various condos in the area but this one was a mistake. It was supposed to sleep 6 but that's only if you use the 'sleeper sofa' (which is usually not a problem at a nice hotel or condo), but THIS one was A.W.F.U.L! We had just left a nearby hotel where the sleeper sofa was amazing! My back is still sore from the condo. It was worst sleeper-sofa I have slept on in 30 years. Really. There is a printed sign in the closet which says, "Don't use for sleeper-sofa" but they are the ONLY pillowcases to go OVER the incredibly dusty couch throw pillows that I guess I was supposed to use. The comforter was so dusty and clearly hadn't been washed in some time. Additionally, while there is an outside area, there are NO screens on ANY door or windows. In fact, there are no windows at all in the bathrooms, which just seemed weird. All that money: no screens, dusty dusty bedcovers, no pillowcases for 1 of the beds that slept 2, & a few kids games but none was complete. Every time the frig was opened when I was sleeping, it woke me up. Something needs repair. Also, I notice that this is the first rental in years that is still using highly aromatic laundry soap. My son is allergic, so I bought unscented and washed his sheets and pillowcases the next day. 3 times. The discomfort of watching a 9 year old get sick and ruin 2 days of his vacation due to highly scented detergent was awful. I should have noticed. By the time we got back from dinner late, he went to bed and since I didn't have pillowcases on the sofa bed, I didn't know it until the next day. The other very disappointing thing was that my kids were reprimanded for playing in the condo's POOL! There are a LOT of rules there, too few shaded lounge chairs, and though there were a few kids in the pool, parents had to remind the kids to be quiet. NO POOL TOYS ALLOWED. NO RING FLOAT for a small child. Not exactly what my land-locked kids were hoping in an Hawai'ian vacation. I would suggest this condo for a honeymoon couple maybe or 2 adults. 2 couples can't stay because the 2nd bedroom has quite narrow twin beds. Only the 'master' has a king bed. I saw positive reviews for this place but I don't know why. Not if you have kids. Plus, there is soooooo much glass. The tables, the end tables.. it's just a little condo. Why put all that glass into a rental? A disaster waiting to happen. And nowhere to put the cushions unless you close the sofa bed every morning. All in all, almost $2K of regret for 3 nights.

3 generations (4 adults and a 6yr old). Child booster seat, games for all ages, pool and beach accessories were great. Open concept interior was ideal for all with large bathrooms. Semi-private backyard off of lanai. Very clean interior and exterior is well maintained. Close proximity to pool, exercise room and beach. Walking distance to shopping. Felt very safe around property. Can’t wait to come back again!

I don’t think you can beat this villa on the Big Island. Tons of room, ground floor unit with a yard to play in, fully stocked kitchen, and nice grill set up. There was a great pool with hardly any people in it and beach access for sunsets. The sand toys, snorkel gear, and chairs were an added bonus. In walking distance of restaurants and grocery stores. Would definitely stay here again.

Easy condo to walk in and operate lifestyle. Couple of things that could be fixed..refrigerator door hinge makes noise when you open it, kitchen trash can pull out organizer doesn’t work well, laundry closet door is hard to open and close and a carrot peeler for local carrots would have been nice. Rest of the place was great!

Our family of 6 stayed here for 4 nights. It was clean, spacious, well stocked, cool, & every appliance worked. Felt like vip’s here at the beach club with pool towels, coffee, clean restrooms, and access to the snorkel-able bay. Everything was easy to use & find in home. They labeled everything. Kolea is within 5 min walk of 2 shopping centers- kings & queens marketplace where u can shop boutiques & get food from deli or restaurants. Great customer service & communication w Vacasa staff. We even checked in early. No issues whatsoever. Our family didn’t want to leave. We will absolutely stay here again!

Could not be happier with our choice to stay at this amazing condo! Wonderful location (quick walk to Queen's Land Market), very nice pool with small sand bottom wading pool for littles, and a path from pool area leading to A-Bay (saw turtles on beach!) Condo was very comfortable, kitchen has essentials but could use a few toddler friendly utensils, cups etc. Took a bit of sleuthing and waiting on hold to get actual property managers contact info, but it was all well worth it!

My brand new fiance and I stayed at this beautiful condo for 4 nights after getting engaged in Captain Cook. It was such a treat to stay in such a lovely place!
As soon as you enter the complex, you are surrounded by the most beautifully manicured landscaping! Lush and tropical is what Kolea is all about!
The condo is outfitted with everything you'd ever need in a comfortable vacation home. Incredibly comfortable king bed with luxurious pillows, a gorgeous walk-in shower, a kitchen that offered enough cooking/baking/grilling appliances, and supplies to cook small meals or a feast for family and friends!
We enjoyed our morning coffee and evening cocktails in the solitude of the lanai before heading to Lava Lava for sunset. During the day we took the provided chairs and beach towels down to A Bay for swimming and relaxing. Coming back from the beach there is an outdoor shower before you enter the pool area which was perfect to rinse all the sand off. The pool and hot tub area is so lovely, it's easy to stop there and not make it to the beach!
A great bonus was having a covered parking area to park under! That and being on the first floor! We never heard the people above us at all!
I would highly recommend staying here and look forward to coming back again soon!

This home is perfect for getting together with family but not giving up on space you would at a traditional hotel. Having two full rooms with attached baths, full kitchen, and a spacious living room made for a wonderful time. The first floor patio was also a plus for relaxing and added space.

Kolea is a wonderful, well maintained development in Waikoloa Resort. Excellent pool/ lounge area and open air workout room, beautiful landscaping and assigned covered parking. Be aware that after staying in two different units on this trip we now know first hand that all units are not equally maintained. This unit had maintenance (toilets, dishwasher, blender) and ongoing pest control issues. We shouldn’t have to deal with these on vacation and neither should you. If not for courteous property management staff this rating would be worse.

We enjoyed a week at the Kolea condo. Condo was very nice, super comfy beds and fairly well supplied to fit our cooking and outdoor needs. The outdoor seat cushions were pretty worn and BBQ grill grimy enough that we purchased tin cookware to use on it. Short on dishwasher and laundry soap and a few basic spices. The photos were a little misleading as we had no view and mostly a shady garden patio. The 5 minute walk to beach and pool were a real plus as well as ten minute walk to shopping area. Resort felt safe and secure. All in all, we had a wonderful time and would recommend to others.

This was a perfect location in the Waikoloa beach area. We walked everywhere. Queens Marketplace and Lava Lava Beach Club was a quick walk just to name a few. The condo itself was well equipped and plenty of room for our party of 5. The lanai was a great afternoon hang out. The pool and the grounds are meticulously maintained. It was also great to have covered parking so the car was always cool when we used it. We had one issue while we were staying and the Vacasa crew were on it. We will be back.
