Maui is an annual trip for us! We travel each year to this beautiful island with our dear friends for the ultimate, relaxing vacation. Our recent stays have been at Makena Surf.
This unit is the perfect location to the ocean, the pool, and lovely walking paths. The complex is near many local establishments as well. In additon, we enjoy the privacy and quiet of this complex/unit.
The unit is the ideal size. There are 2 beautiful bedrooms and 2 spacious baths. The kitchen space is perfect for meals at home while sipping a cocktail on the large lanai as the sun sets over the ocean. The view can not be beat!
We did have a small interruption on our vacation with the unit's AC. Although, service calls are not ideal on a vacation, we were pleased with the final outcome. The managemant company was professional. We appreciated the communication and the issue did not dampen our vacation. We would book again because of how the management company handled the issue and compnesated our time.

Fabulous! The view was amazing, and the beach was perfect. The unit was spacious and clean. The lighting was poor in the living room area. Maybe another side table with a lamp or a floor lamp for those of us that love to read. The ceiling fan in that area is a bit worn, and if replaced you might consider a fan with a light fixture. A few things needed repair, and the service people came quickly and took care of everything. The owner should also consider some type of windowshades in the living and dining area. The afternoonsun made it very hot and required us to use the AC more then we normally would.We will plan to return in 2024 and continue to support Maui Strong and the beautiful people of Maui. We really enjoyed our stay. We had a broken AC unit for several days but the repair staff took care of it us.
The area was wonderful and the easy beach access was perfect. We also enjoyed being able to relax in the pool and hot tub right next to the unit.
There was great snorkeling just off the beach too.

This was our second time staying in this particular unit and although it is a bit dated, it is clean, spacious and offers a beautiful view of the ocean, our favorite part. The grill on the balcony was a nice surprise, since we were told by the management before our arrival there wasn’t one. Also, we were given the wrong code for all the gates (pool, gym), but other quests helped there. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return in the future.

Great condo, would stay again! The bedrooms, bathrooms, and living area were all spacious. The view from the living area and lanai was amazing. The beach that was right behind the condo was perfect. It wasn’t crowded, there was great snorkeling, there was not a quick drop-off so it was good for kids to play in, and it had a beautiful view of sunset. We never had to communicate with owner during our stay because everything worked and all information was well-communicated in advance and great information on laminated sheets in the condo. Thanks for a fantastic Maui experience!

Great location, unit very aged, carpet stained and ugly, hard surface floors all cracked. Needs update! Beach amazing, pool very good. Property managers very uncommunicative! No help at all. Had to get Pool; door code from other guests!

They're great! Sunset views from the Lanai. The beach was fantastic. The property was well kept. The only drawback was some traffic noise from the street in the bedrooms.

The condo is in a perfect location, but is a bit tired and dated in appointments. The carpets were worn and stained. No shades and afternoon sun intense. Beds comfortable. The condo was fine, but I have stayed in much nicer units there. Several lights were out, and rust and wear in areas.

There was a DYD player in the entertainment center that did not work, it should be removed, an alarm clock in the master that does not work, we had difficulty with the ice maker in the refrigerator, other than that everything was lovely. Makena Surf is a devine place to stay and be,

We enjoyed our stay here. The place was clean, comfortable, had a great view, a short walk to the beach and the pool. The only issue was the broken washing machine. We had our 2 kids with us and staying for 10 days. Since I knew there was laundry in the place I packed them light thinking I will do laundry there. However the washer was broken and when I called they said there was a history there.... they graciously offered to do our laundry through the laundry service and they bought a new washer dryer set that would come later in the week. There were issues with the new dryer and they ended us never installing it, so now we didn't even have a working dryer which is frustrating when you are at the beach and needing dry towels. On the day we were checking out the maintenance showed up to install the washer and dryer that was sitting there because "the cleaning crew needs it" which tells me they could've installed it while we were there but chose not to. I think they tried to fix the situation but there were lots of miscommunication btw their teams which is why I am rating the place a 4....

We absolutely loved this condo and its location! It has a fantastic view of the ocean with a short walk down to the sand. Our kids loved having the pool right nearby as well. The Makena Surf condos association keeps up the property very well with daily landscaping and clean-up. The unit was clean and well kept, with plenty of towels (both bath towels and beach towels), and having a washer and dryer in the unit was great to have. The kitchen had 99% of everything you'd need (note to the owners: provide a few chip clips and a few ziplock bags as these are super handy things to have around). All-in-all, our family loved this condo and its location and would definitely stay here again!

The condo is in a very quiet part of Maui but only 10-15 minutes from restaurants and stores. The beach was a great spot for the family to hang out. The view from the condo was amazing. Can't wait to go back. CBIP was very helpful with making sure our stay was perfect and getting back to us when we had questions.

The location could not have been better and the property is well-maintained. The unit itself could use some love and updates, but it's hard to complain too much when you're in the middle of paradise and everything is well-cleaned. We had issues with the air conditioning the first couple of days (a door was slightly open triggering a sensor to keep it off), but I ran into a property manager who helped and was great! Unit has minimal beach equipment other than some extra chairs, but hit up a local rental company for that. Kitchen was well stocked with the essential equipment and we used the BBQ which was in great shape.

Great condo for our family vacation! The view is incredible and the resort is immaculate and well maintained. The condo was clean and bright and had everything we needed for our stay. The lanai was a great spot for morning coffee with an amazing view. Our family loved spending time on the beautiful beach and seeing all the turtles while snorkeling. The beach chairs were great and easy to take on the short walk to the sand (a beach umbrella would be a great addition as there aren't many opportunities for shade on the beach). We enjoyed the pools, tennis courts and pickleball. Awesome, relaxing place and we would definitely come back!

I was very disappointed in my rental. The unit was disgusting and falling apart. So many things were broken. The rental agency was nice and tried to fix things but most of them were major issues. Carpet was filthy, WiFi not working, air not working very well, outside chairs falling apart and a horrible bed!! You need a good bed on vacation. Sleep and a nice place to stay are important. Not worth the money at all. I think I should of been given more of a refund. Unit should not be rented. It honestly is a joke, Wailea and Makena surf are very nice but this place is a dump!

We stayed in unit A-204 in early April 2022. Our view of the beach, ocean and sunset was amazing. The unit was very well-appointed, clean and welcoming upon our arrival. We had a very relaxing week with our three generation family and are so pleased with our stay!

We had a fantastic stay at Makena Surf and loved how easy and secluded the beach area was, proximity to shopping centers/restaurants, and size of the condo. Pictures do not do justice to the actual size of the condo and had plenty of room for our family of 5 to spread out. Kitchen is well stocked with supplies and laundry in the unit was great. Lanai view can’t be beat but do wish there were a few more lounge chairs out there.

This condo was so convenient- close to a mall, Monkey Pod restaurant, a grocery store and beachfront. Lots of restaurants and bakeries in the area. The living area has wrap around windows with amazing views and the parking lot is just outside the condo & there were always spots. There's a rinse off station outside on your way back from the beach so you don't have to stress about sand. Great wildlife- we saw fish and sea turtles every day & the beach is private & isn't crowded. There are Tommy Bahama beach chairs you can use. Laundry soap, toiletries and everything we needed was provided & the washer & dryer were very convenient. Very clean unit with lots of towels, beach towels and hot water for our family of 6. We'd definitely stay here again!

We have stayed at Makena Surf condos numerous times. We enjoyed the condos location. The view is wonderful!
A few items need to be added to the unit:
additional patio chairs, there are only 3 (the patio furniture needs to be replaced). We had to constantly move indoor dining chairs outside so the 4 of us could enjoy the outdoor dining.
additional wine glasses need to be added, there are only 2
We purchased a can opener (we left in unit for next customer)

The company , service & communication was great . Our only recommendation would be to have more furniture on the lanai ( outdoor patio area) since it’s large and there was not enough seating to sit out for dinner( only 3 chairs for a small table) . Also extra chairs to accommodate gatherings for up to 10 people . Also , there were only 3 wine glasses and could use more complete sets of dishes ( at least 8) .

We had a wonderful stay -- our second at this unit. We were disappointed with the cleanliness -- bed linens were not done (many different odors of previous guests!) and rugs need to be cleaned as they are filthy (looks like they weren't cleaned since we were here two years ago) but otherwise a wonderful stay! The Makena Surf is an amazing condo community with a few buildings on the ocean. This unit has 2 large balconies - one facing the ocean, and the other off the master bedroom. We spent a lot of time on the balcony facing the ocean, reading, eating some meals, and just hanging out. The walk to the beach is short and easy and we spent lots of time every day on the beach. The beach right outside the condo offers amazing views of Maui and provided us with great experiences every day we were there (swimming, boarding, snorkeling, sunsets). The water was super calm in the morning, so there were always kayaks, SUPs, and other water sports going on there in the mornings (and turtles swimming around from time to time).
The unit itself was large for our family of 4 and we loved it. The master bedroom and bathroom were both large; the 2nd bedroom had 2 separate beds, so our kids were able to each have their own bed.
Overall, the unit was very clean; the kitchen appliances were all high-end and in good working order; the in-unit washer/dryer was very useful; and there were plenty of new towels (both bath and beach) and sheets. Based on photos of other units, this one is not the most updated, but it was absolutely fine for our family.
The unit comes with several beach chairs (which you will need), but no umbrellas (which you will also need), so we purchased several umbrellas.
There were a couple of (very) minor issues that we mentioned to the management company; and they were addressed very quickly.
The location of the condo within Makena/Wailea was also great. It was a short drive to the Shops at Wailea.
Overall, it was a great experience and we loved it.

The condo overlooks the ocean with a small garden in front and is only a very short walk. There are multiple beaches you can walk to - in fact one of the beaches is the one professional photographers use. Turtles can be seen in the water just to the left of the condo. It is a quiet area but very close (2 miles) to the hotels in Wailea. I highly recommend this condo.

This property is located with one of the best properties on the island. Great beach, very private but not to..Close to the pool, easy parking. The condo we stayed is spacious and well appointed. It does need a little TLC for few minor touches. I have been told those touches are happening very soon. I would recommend this unit and CB Island..

Pros: Number one, Response time from management. Large unit. Large Lanai. Tennis court steps away, with sign up system. Pool steps away. California King Bed in master bedroom. Very secure, gated and Security on Segway patrolling. Beautiful beach and sunset views from the Lanai. Beach is very nice with a volcano rock out cropping next to it. Great for snorkeling. Saw turtles everyday. Parking right next to unit.
Cons. Carpet is old, stained and needs replacement. Rice maker old and corroded. Refrigerator ice dispenser damaged. Cook Top rusted. Washing machine had mold on it. No curtains in living room by Lanai sliders. No curtain by entrance door. This is a 2nd floor unit with stairs and no elevator, is difficult for older couples. Some road noise in bedrooms as they are in the front of the unit.
