The place was really inviting, quiet & relaxing what "WELCOMING" is all about. The beds were comfortable, kitchen easy to locate cooking ware & utensils to creat amazing breakfasts, snacks & dinners. So close to Kilauea for day trips and for night to star gaze. All in all it was the great place.

I was on the cusp of passing when they said bring your own drinking water. But ok, I can do that, weird, but ok. Then we get there and find out we have to take our own garbage away? That would have been a hard pass! They do give directions to the nearest transfer station; so kind. Honestly, if a place can't supply drinking water, or garbage service, it should not be a rental. The front door lock is broken so the pass code doesn't work, then my friend finds a key box in the carport, while I'm on the phone to Vacasa. We get the code and are able to go in through the carport door. Vacasa was prompt in providing the code, also saying they're aware of the broken lock. Thanks. The reviews are correct about the smell; ick! In humid places it's best to have as few rugs as possible and to have a heat source set low, when unoccupied, to keep the place drying out. The dehumidifier can't do it's job if the humidity setting is too high; set at 68% and I couldn't get it to change. I can empty mine out, at my house, twice in 20 hours, set as low as it goes (my place is not close to as humid as this area). It was maybe ¼ full after two days of staying there. People with allergies beware! The beds in both bedrooms were not comfortable, but the living room futons have excellent mattresses. The house was clean, much of the artwork was both interesting and beautiful, so that was a bonus. I would not stay here again unless drinking water and garbage service is provided.

This was actually my first time staying at a short term vacation rental, but we all thought it was awesome! As soon as you arrive at the property, it is fenced in with a padlock. From the outside, the property and home are very welcoming. When you walk into the house, it feels like home! It's cozy and has all the utensils, silverware, pots/pans, a TV with YouTube, Netlfix, and other services, and the kitchen is great. It just has everything you would expect a place to have when you rent it. The ONLY thing that was missing was a bowl for the rice cooker. The beds were soooooo comfortable and there were plenty soft, plush blankets to keep warm in the nighttime when the whole house gets cold.

The property was great for all the essentials and the kids loved exploring the backyard. However, the property could benefit from some updates especially in the kitchen. When we arrived the oven and stove burners weren’t working and had to be reset on the breaker. Overall we enjoyed our stay and it is in a great location to visit Volcano National Park.

First of all this is a cabin not a home. No heat except for two space heaters and a small gas fireplace. We got here and fireplace did not work so they told us to use the two heaters and there are plenty of blankets!!!!! Really we had an infant with us and it does get pretty cold up there at night. That how they heat this joint!! I understand that it’s Hawaii but I spent over $500.00 for one night and it does get cold at night with the rain. They are suppose to refund me but haven’t seen it! I think a few electric baseboard heaters would be great way to heat since there is no gas! Thanks but no Thanks! Oh almost forgot everything up there closes before 7 so be ready!

We had a great stay. Very clean, well-stocked place with very comfortable beds. Very convenient to the park, and an easy drive to Hilo for grocery shopping and additional dining options as long as high traffic times are avoided.

Nestled in a beautiful rainforest very close to the Volcanoes National Park entrance, this house has all the necessities. As long as you don't expect some of the extras usually found in VRBO properties (like Kleenex and salt & pepper), you'll be quite happy. The local management were extremely helpful and responsive when we had questions!

The quiet sanctuary and beautiful flowers The house is well placed, close to Volcano Village and the park. Yet there was no cutting board or Tupperware. But nice stay. Thanks

Loved the quiet area, close to volcano national park. The house was pretty, clean and comfortable. We do wish there had been more toilet paper as there was not enough. There were not cleaning supplies as stated. We would have appreciated the home being aired out and the bedding and towels washed before we arrived. The damp smell was very powerful and overwhelming. The smell did dissipate after 3 days, however the room my husband and I stayed in did continue to smell bad. The smell was in the bedding and towels so we had to stay up late washing everything. Not what one expects to have to do on their vacation. Otherwise the home was great.

The beds are comfortable. For the price you would think they could have the five gallon water jug already there. They have the cooler

Logement très bien équipé et très bien agencé. Nous y avons passé un séjour extrêmement agréable et nous y retournerons avec le plus grand plaisir.

We had a lovely time for the week we stayed here on the big island. The house felt very secure and tucked away- Would definitely recommend this location to others!

April 2022
Overall the house was nice. Just a few notes omitted from the listing online. They do not provide the address until the cancellation period is expired. This location it one block from the highway, so not as peaceful as deeper into the subdivision. They also do not mention that there’s another home on the property until the check-in email. So those wanting a more private volcano experience may be disappointed. The fireplace is an electric gas one we found impossible to get lit. Fortunately they had a space heater.

It is so close to the village so you could just walk (but please use common sense when crossing the highway) to the few shops and the amazing Thai food truck. House has all the basics (like washer/dryer) you need and very good-sized rooms, including a nice outdoor sitting area. Berkeley (the local property manager) was very prompt and helpful, offering to come by to drop things and troubleshoot the gas fireplace. You do have to call the national VACASA phone number to generate a request for him to get back to you.

What an incredibly peaceful retreat! It's conveniently located close to the national park, and it has everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Including washer/dryer, which after a week of traveling, was much appreciated :) Bonus - it's so quiet! We left feeling relaxed and refreshed.
