This place is fantastic! It’s secluded from the touristy hustle and bustle of the coast, and only 1 minute from the entrance to drive to Haleakala. The hosts are so kind and left us bread, eggs, bacon, orange juice, and milk for our arrival. The property is very clean, nice, and complete with anything we needed (spices, beach towels, boogie boards, snorkel kits, beach chairs). The sunset views over the other side and Maui are better than from the top of Haleakala since it’s under the clouds. The property is in the perfect central location to get to everything quickly (Haleakala, start of the Road to Hana, Haleakala at sunrise, cowboy town, etc) and has much cooler temperatures than the coast, which we appreciated greatly! The washer and dryer on the property are very nice and quick so we didn’t lose any time from our vacation doing laundry. If you want a beautiful property with anything you could ever need, this is your place. It’s tucked away in some farms and other houses so it feels like you’re a local. 15/10 would recommend this property to anyone that wants to stay in Central Maui.

We had an enjoyable stay upcountry. The house was so luxurious. Simple things that made it great- nice quality bedding, quality sharp knives, plenty of kitchen wares (multiple options for coffee). Plenty of beach items included.
It was so quiet at night, just the sounds of nature. You can star gaze from the deck, or out the bedroom window. It was a great place to leave to watch sunrise at Haleakala, and the Saturday Upcountry Farmers Market was great for fresh fruit and veggies to pair with the eggs, bacon, juice and milk the house provides. They make great recommendations.

I’ve stayed in many VRBOs, in many places of the world. This place is meticulously assembled to offer the travelereverything you could ever imagine you would like to have at your whim and desire while away from home. The view from the shaded porch overlooking West Maui and three other islands! , the cleanliness and clarity of line and design of the house/grounds, the incredibly well provisioned kitchen (everything you’ll need and top of the line), luxurious linens, garage of gear meeting the needs for your adventures, and the upcountry quiet/pleasant air feel makes for one of the best end-of-the… and start-out-your-day VRBOs we’ve ever stayed at.
We all know images or descriptive words never match the true in-person experience of any destination, and so it is with amazing home. This is a gem you have to experience AND revel in losing to the fault finding game.

This was our best lodging experience, by far. The owner's attention to detail is extraordinary, and the property/location is a dream come true. We were able to do all the things Maui offers and still return for peaceful evenings, cooler temps, unbeatable views, and great company (goats, sheep, and chickens.) Comforts like robes, light-blocking blinds, fresh eggs, and throw blankets are so nice. Even little things, like Q-tips in the bathroom, big coffee mugs, and patio heaters. Other necessities like beach chairs, high-quality towels, and body boards, were available to use. Can't say enough! Thank you Marianne and Tim.

This home is wonderful, well-maintained, great lay out and has everything you need for a comfortable, relaxing stay in Upcountry Maui, including farm-fresh eggs for breakfast. The views from the patio are breathtaking, and you can watch the beautiful Hawaii sunsets followed by stargazing. Great location as a home base for exploring Upcountry (winery, distillery, restaurants, local farms), Haleakala Natl Park, Road to Hana. Owners Marianne and Tim are amazing hosts. We had the most incredible stay! Marianne was such a gracious host and was very accommodating for us. We came here for the second half of our honeymoon and instantly wished we spent the entire trip here! They have every amenity you could think of needing, and there are the cutest goats next door. The view was spectacular, with and without the clouds. The occasional downpour did not dampen the experience whatsoever, rather, it was another experience to have.
The rental house is exactly as described, had everything one needed. The host, Marianne, make sure to stop by shortly after arrival to see if there were any questions or concerns at all.
A few perfect days in quiet paradise!
Highly recommend, unless you want to stay there during the time that I want to stay there again 😎.

This property exceeded our expectations. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well stocked. The location is peaceful and quiet was a perfect retreat to unwind after a day of beach and city crowds. Views are amazing. The host was very friendly and helpful and you can tell they put a lot of TLC into the property. There is also a flock of adorable free range hens on the property that we enjoyed feeding. Definitely one of the top vacation rentals we have stayed in.

This is a beautiful, well-maintained, property with the most gracious, considerate, and friendly hosts. When we arrived there was milk, orange juice, bread, bacon, and eggs for the next morning's breakfast. The house was very clean and everything - appliances, WiFi, door locks - worked perfectly. We had no issues or concerns. It is a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Now, as for the views: The property faces Northwest, so from the lanai there are expansive views of the West Maui mountains, and the central valley with Kahului Bay on one side and Maalaea Bay on the other. The views at sunrise and sunset are spectacular. Behind the house is Haleakala. The property truly is as described. Mahalo to the owners for providing this bit of paradise on the island of Maui. We will surely look to stay there again.

We have been to Maui three times but always stayed at sea level. My husband retired and we are wintering in the Hawaiian Islands. This was our 2nd week in Maui (first at sea level) and wanted a different experience. WOW! The Upcountry is magnificent. As we reached Kula you could smell the beauty of the lush environment. The house was easy to find and entry even easier. Greeted with the stocked fridge was such a sweet gift from the owners. We enjoyed breakfast the next morning on the lanai in the clouds with a spectacular view of Central and West Maui. Breathtaking! The proteas flowers on the property are something I've never seen and I was so absolutely amazed with their complex designs and beauty.
We found everything to be first class and exceptional. We grilled out on the weber grill one night. Dining on the lanai with the propane heater nearby kept the night chill away. We also sat stargazing one night on the mountainside of lanai under the propane heater for an hour. The star viewing is equivalent to the top of Mount Haleakala but with a much warmer temperature and not the wind factor at the summit.
We found the accommodations to be exceptional and hardly left because the peace and quiet was so desirable. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay here in Kula. One day we ventured out and drove the backside (reverse trip to Hana) of Mount Haleakala. The rugged and beauty of this terrain is spectacular - highly recommend the drive. I did a short day trip to the local Lavendar farm and enjoyed the tour and gift shop (wonderful gifts for coworkers and daughters).
We plan to revisit the Upcountry and will definitely stay here again.

This property is stunningly beautiful and the amenities offered are above and beyond. We loved the quite location with the breathtaking view from the deck! A 15-20 minute drive will get you to most desired places on the island, so it's still close enough to be convenient, but feels so peaceful. We will definitely be back.

The house was spectacular. The property had everything we needed and then some. Beautiful flowers and cute animals made it feel very homey. The location is fantastic is multiple way. The view, day or night, rain or shine, will take your breath away. And it is centrally located in Kula. Rarely on vacation do you feel like you have absolutely everything you need. In this beautiful home, you not only will have absolutely everything you need but you will have the opportunity to take a breathe of fresh air up in the mountains. Marianne doesn’t leave anything forgotten, there is literally everything you could ever need or think about in this home. Upon first arriving we were greeted with fresh eggs from her chickens along with a kitchen stocked with other basic necessities. The only way to adequately describe the views from this beautiful home is to experience them yourself. The first words my wife said when we stood on the balcony upon our arrival was "I hope this is what heaven looks like." The pictures do an amazing job laying out the extraordinary home, but actually being here was an experience my family and I will never forget. My experiences with Marianne were exceptional. Kula 4200 was absolutely amazing for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 little kids)! The house is spacious, modern, and very clean. Walking around the property was also great; there is a huge flower garden, citrus trees, chickens, and goats. It was easy to access Haleakala for sunrise, Ocean Distillery, Mahalo Aleworks, Surfing Goat Dairy Farm, Paia, and Makawao. Hosts were very responsive and helpful. The provided bread, eggs, bacon, milk, and orange juice were all delicious! There is plenty of beach gear and indoor games. Kitchen was well stocked and great washer and dryer on site for laundry. I really hope we make it back to Maui again to stay here again!

The property was beautiful and had the best view of any vacation rental we have stayed. The home was very well stocked and clean. In our opinion, there is no better place to stay in Maui. The location is perfect for exploring Haleakala as it is only about 30 minute to the summit. In fact, on a clear day, you can see the observatory from the backyard. The home is far removed from the touristy districts and at night, you can see the milky way from the balcony. It is a peaceful and serene location. Our hosts were easily accessible and accommodating and they take a great deal of pride in their property and the island itself. Book now!

Very modern house with fantastic views!! The neighborhood is quiet all you hear are the goats.The most well equipped place we have ever stayed!! Actually has kitchen utensils you can use and need! Very clean and well kept! Their are board games to play and chickens to visit with that kept our 6 year old entertained. They even have beach chairs and towels but we didn’t use them cause we enjoyed staying around the house. The weather was perfect, a lil chilly but we like chilly so bring some warm clothes. Everyone always experiences the beach when coming to Maui but how many can say they experienced upcountry! I would stay her every time and will return in the future!

The property exceeded every expectation.
Breathtaking panoramic views of Maui, completely fresh air, surrounded by nature, friendly community, FULLY equipped house, private location, and a short drive away from all activities.
Our group of 4 would take our time in the morning taking in the view and having a freshly cooked breakfast; drive 30-60 minutes around the island to experience the more touristy aspects (eg. Beaches, Shops, Restaurants); and then come home in the evening to absolute tranquility. I will never forget the total silence each night standing on the balcony overlooking the island. It was the perfect mix of having our own space and time, and being immersed in the island of Maui.
Our friendly host provided a number of recommendations and activities to do that made our stay much more authentic and enjoyable.
HIGHLY recommend this property to those wanting to experience all Maui has to offer without being surrounded or cramped by others (eg. In a resort). Hiring a car is about the only necessity.

Wonderfully decorated and cozy small house with many amenities, which include eggs/milk/orange juice/bacon for those who don't have time to grocery shop for breakfast the day after arrival. The owners have provided many games for families to play. The furniture is super comfortable and "homey." The views of the mountains and ocean are spectacular. It is important to be aware that it will take 30-60 minutes to get to popular visitor attractions, such as the Haleakala National Park and popular beaches due to winding roads.

My husband and I stayed in Upcountry for the first half of our honeymoon and loved every minute in this house! It's an amazing property with beautiful views in all directions. Very conveniently located to Haleakala National Park. We did the summit at sunrise our first full day (easy to wake up early), followed by some ziplining with Skyline Eco Adventures. Also convenient to O'o Farm, Ocean Vodka Distillery, Mahalo Aleworks, and lots of other great spots. We loved that it was tucked away and quiet but still easy to get where we needed to go. Marianne was a wonderful host and gave us lots of local tips and recommendations both before and during our stay. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking, including some lovely farm fresh eggs! Breakfasts were a big highlight of those days. Our stay was very comfortable. We would recommend this place to anyone who might want to explore Upcountry Maui!

This rental home is beyond amazing. The site and views -- 360 degrees of all of Maui -- are spectacular, the full sweep of the West Maui Mountains, the slopes up to the summit of Haleakala and the plane separating them. The house itself is wonderful. It is, by far, the best equipped rental we have ever had. Several times we cursed ourselves for forgetting something (e.g., binoculars) only to find them already there. On arrival the kitchen was stocked with much more than the token coffee packet -- orange juice, a dozen eggs, milk, bread, bacon,...Cheese grater? Choose fm three. Who does that ??! Everything was of very high quality. The owners were wonderful and solicitous - especially during the 48 hours of the rare power loss in the wake of blizzard that hit. We loved it.

The owner has done a great job with this home. When I think of cottages, I think of an older, tiny place. No, this place is spacious, modern and new but still has a country feel. Marianne has equipped this home with everything you could possibly need to enjoy your stay. And the setting is better than the pictures. Peaceful with amazing views all day and stars at night. The property that house is set on has a panoramic view of the ocean, West Maui and on a clear day, Lanai. We were concerned the chicken coop, right next to the house, would be loud but the chickens are so quiet and fun to have around. The owner, Marianne, is a very generous and friendly host! She came by to meet us when we arrived and had stocked the kitchen with fresh eggs, bacon, milk, orange juice, butter and bread. She is so accommodating and nice.

We can’t rave enough about this place— Upcountry Maui gave us our first “moonbow” as well as many rainbows while we prepared fantastic meals in a beautifully equipped kitchen, slept soundly in cool fresh air, and popped down to the beach occasionally. The fresh eggs are fantastic (be sure to wash off the shells before cooking) and time melted away in the luxury is this cottage.

The owner stopped by as we were unloading and it was the first thing I said to her - pictures don’t do it justice! The place was magical. We enjoyed the sunrise every morning with fresh eggs, fresh bread, fresh coffee and bacon - all provided! The sunsets were also incredible. It was a perfect location for Haleakala - doesn’t get much closer AND the reverse Road to Hana. So glad my husband found this gem!!

Hosts Marianne and Tim were beyond expectations with help and suggestions for our every need. The Cottage was fabulous and the views phenomenal. Quiet and peaceful away from the tourist crowds. Highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to visit Maui in the summer and be up 4000 ft in the cool crisp air.

We loved our stay in Kula at Marianne's property. After the challenging year of Covid, we really needed this time to get away and enjoy Maui.
The home was immaculate and had every amenity we needed for our stay. I really appreciated how organized and well stocked the home is. It made our trip so much easier. My husband and I stayed with our 15 y/o son. We shared the bathroom which was no problem. The bath is a good size and has a wonderful heater if needed. Since everyone who reviews this property goes on and on about the view, I do not need to tell you much more. You will not be disappointed! Each day I had my morning coffee while sitting on the deck watching the goats and enjoying the peaceful views. Although the home might be considered more remote, I thought it was the perfect location. We had comfortable cool evenings and warm but not boiling hot days.
The eggs Marianne had for us were so yummy, my son, who is sort of "meh" about eggs, asked for scrambled eggs every day. We were incredibly grateful to have some basics waiting for us in the fridge and pantry, especially since our flight arrived late.
Marianne was immensely helpful. She gave us tips on how to get places easily with advice on restaurants and things to do in the Kula area.
When visiting Maui I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. I just hope it isn’t all booked!

My wife and I stayed for our birthday celebrations. Marianne is a top notch host & maintains one of the best homes we’ve ever stayed in. (We have been around the globe!) What a luxurious treat post-pandemic! This property exceeded every expectation, the sun, the moon, the stars, and of course the VIEW !! All priceless. The protea bouquet which we took with us to our other property is stunning. The lemons and oranges which we picked on her property are DELICIOUS. We will be back !!!! We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this clean, beautiful mountain home with incredible views overlooking the island. Having been to Maui several times before, we were familiar with the resorts and beaches but never experienced this quiet side of the island. The house and grounds are meticulously cared for with special attention to detail made by the gracious hosts. The location is actually ideal, as you can be to Kahului for shopping or the beautiful beaches of Kihei and south Maui in about 30-45 minutes. We hope to spend a few days in this special place on our return trips to Maui!

Over the course of a couple weeks in Maui, we stayed in three locations and we loved this one the most - thank goodness we saved it for last. We were happy to be in more of a remote area of the island with less tourism, cool breezes, a gorgeous view and easy access to hiking trails. The house is absolutely breathtaking and thoughtfully appointed with all your needs. Marianne has beautiful chickens with the most upscale chicken coop I have seen. We loved visiting them several times a day with our young daughter. The homes on each side have goats as well, so the cool breeze carries on it the sweet sounds of these animals which we appreciated. The home is so cozy, familiar, and offers such a breathtaking view that it is quite difficult to leave. Next time we are in Maui, this will be our base to explore the island. You cannot beat coming home to this place each day. A thousand thanks to Marianne who built this little slice of paradise and is willing to share it!

My wife, son (10 years) and I spent 3 nights here. It was our first time staying up country in Kula. Wow! It was incredible. My son really enjoyed the chickens on the property. We found a couple Jackson chameleons too! We got to bird-nerd a bit and sit on the porch to watch francolins, pheasants, cardinals, and even a pueo flew over! Deer rolled by one morning. And the views! The home is beautiful and the hosts were very kind and welcoming. What a gem. Great launch point to for summiting Haleakala and getting up to Hosmer's Gorge for some more birding.

I cannot even describe how great this house is. Marianne has though of every detail. We had fresh eggs, bacon, milk and orange juice in the fridge and the house was fully equipped with everything you would need for your stay. We loved the robes and the views were amazing! Super comfortable beds and spectacular views! The beach is about 30 minutes away but if you are looking to relax this is the perfect place! We would love to come back! Thanks a lot!

We stayed at 3 different properties during our Hawaii vacation and this was our favorite. It was extraordinarily well stocked. It was so nice and cool to come here after a week in near 90F weather on the coast. The stargazing is AMAZING! Definitely explore upcountry - we went on farm, distillery, and winery tours and it's very convenient to Haleakala and the Road to Hana. You aren't quite as close to beaches, but have several options to get to in 30 minutes or less.

Marianne's property was truly incredible. The views were unparalleled to anything I've seen before, and the property itself was in immaculate condition. The finishes were all high-end and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Marianne truly thought of everything and there was nothing that we needed...from "to-go" containers we took to the beach, to laundry detergent for the on-site laundry, she provides it all. A truly wonderful place to stay...highly recommend!

What an amazing property, neighborhood, host/hostess, and experience! The home (not house/cottage) was just beautiful, in "21st Century" fashion, with hospitality to match. The cleanliness and amenities are everything you need, and the country fresh eggs from the chickens on farm is the cherry on top. The surrounding environment is laid back country, with cool air, goats, sheep, protea flowers, and a cabbage farm just below. Want to get away from the resort/hotel crowd? This is a must stay. Lots of delicious farms and restaurants to visit by day, and oh the stars to see at night. We got amazing pics of the milkyway with our new mirrorless camera. If Haleakala is on your schedule, this place is perfect being almost half way up the mountain. The charm of Kula and the surrounding areas, with open markets, "honor system" fruit and flower stands, and horse back riding (Triple L Ranch is awesome), will serve as a balm for any soul. Our 'ohana would like to mahalo Marianne and Tim for opening your home to us, and for being a part of an experience that will certainly bring us back.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best while we were there, but once the rain and clouds parted we were treated to an amazing view/sunset! This house is beautiful and SO well appointed that we wanted to just move in. Everything about the property is first class, including the beds, linens, appliances and even the shampoo! The view is lovely as well with sweeping vistas of the West Maui Mountains and the Kahului area. We love upcountry and we had easy access to the hikes we like. The fresh eggs and bread for breakfast were the topping on the cake. Hope to be back next year!

After many visits to Hawaii, we have finally found the place of our dreams on Maui! The house was immaculate, comfortable, quiet, and well furnished. The hosts were gracious and their pups were delightful. We loved the magnificent views and upcountry charm. It was great to have farm-fresh eggs for breakfast, supplied by a very happy flock of resident chickens. Some of the best restaurants on Maui were nearby. Best of all was the wonderful cool weather of Kula. Privacy, comfort, views, easy drives to the beaches…we had it all! We will be back.

We loved everything about this place.
The location is wonderful. The scenery is beautiful, including the nearby goats. The view from the house is spectacular. It is cooler in upcountry which makes sleeping nice.
The house is also awesome. Beautiful and clean. The beds are very comfortable. Everything you need is provided... Washer, dryer, detergent, a cooler,beach chairs, towels and umbrella, kitchen supplies even including some spices, paper towels, napkins, butter, bread, eggs, bacon, milk and juice, an outdoor heater for chilly mornings and evenings - great for t for morning coffee on the porch. I honestly can't think of anything they didn't provide.
Marianne and Tim are great hosts. They welcomed us upon arrival, we're attentive to anything we needed and easily accessible by text or phone call. They also have two dogs who welcomed us and were very friendly!
You can't go wrong with this place!!!

Upcountry is one of my favorite areas of Maui and we've always stayed down along the coast. So glad we finally came up here - the house was perfect, with everything you need for a short or long stay, the views are incredible, and the house is meticulously built with quality.
