Welcome to your home away from home, Hale Ke Kai, “where the land and sea meet.” You will come to find out why so many local residents and visitors call it one of the best units at Colony I. We feel honored to have the opportunity to show you the reasons so many have fallen in love with the islands. Those reasons are here to be found in abundance.
The Big Island is our home and we go to great lengths to help you feel at home too. This spacious and beautifully furnished one bedroom condo is single level with absolutely no steps. Although it is considered a condo, there are no upstairs or downstairs neighbors, only the back wall of the closet is shared. Hale KeKai is unit #23 at the Sea Mountain Resort. The lanai (patio) is very private. Speaking of the lanai, “Wow!” is the usual response. Sweeping unobstructed ocean views that blend gently without interruption into an incredible mountain view. This is Hawaii, your Hawaii.
A high quality king size bed in the master bedroom will combine with the soft breezes and gentle lull of the waves to bring calm wondrous dreams of the beauty of the real Hawaii. The living and dining areas also have sweeping ocean views and are outfitted tastefully yet comfortably as this is as much our home as yours. The living area also boasts a fold out sofa bed that we have slept on ourselves and is very comfortable.
The kitchen with range, oven, microwave, full size fridge, coffee/espresso maker, dishwasher, and small appliances is well stocked with quality flat ware, a variety of teas, and condiments and spices to get you started on the meal of your choice.
The bathroom has a cavernous granite tiled shower that is an easy step inside. We love every corner of this place and believe you will too.
Enjoy some world famous Ka’u Coffee on the lanai or hang out at the pool or hot tub with new found friends, either way you will be glad to have found one of the world’s hidden gems. Punaluu Black Sand Beach, consistently voted one of the Top Ten Black Sand Beaches in the World, is only a few minutes’ walk away. Sunbathe beneath the palms, snorkel with turtles, or watch them haul up on the beach. For the more adventuresome, hike out either direction and re-discover Hawaiian historical sites (please show due respect to all archaeological sites and observe proper viewing distance and rules regarding all marine creatures).
Hale Ke Kai is perfect for any family or couple seeking the trip of a lifetime. A secluded, yet accessible wonder that will be remembered.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is only 30 minutes away, making Punaluu the closest ocean front lodging. Hike the volcano by day and relax in the hot tub under the stars by night. The pool and hot tub have wonderful ocean views and you can barbeque fresh island fish or local grass fed beef on one of the quality barbeques next to the pool.
Our special vision for Hale Ke Kai is for people who may be less able to travel to have the chance to visit one of the best kept secrets in the world…and be comfortable. Hale Ke Kai has no steps, no stairs, just a little bump at the front and sliding doors. This means couples where one partner is movement impaired or a family with aging parents can still share moments of beauty and peace. Our goal is for every family member, including children, to feel safe and at home. Should you or your loved one have special needs, please contact us, we will make every attempt to accommodate your needs.

Great spot in the condo development with views of ocean.

My wife and I traveled to Punaluu as part of a special anniversary trip. The condo is comfortable and stocked with pretty much everything you need except food. The nearest real grocery store was about 30 minutes away. A few of the appliances could use updating, but the living room furniture is new and comfortable. We didn’t watch much television, but the one tv was small for a vacation rental. The condo is in a great location on the south end of the island, about 30 minutes from Volcanoes National Park, a little over an hour to either Hilo or Kona. The black sand beach, with it’s sea turtles, is only a 10 minute walk away. Jeff, the owner, was communicative and responded quickly when we needed him.

Comfortable condo in a spectactular location. We loved our stay. Owner cares not just about property condition and furnishings ,which are in good shape, but also helping his visitors understand the special part of Hawaii they are in. Check out his insiders guide booklet.

One of a group of condos with a small pool and hot tub -- originally part of a golf course development now closed. Beautiful location with ocean views from the patio. Well maintained and comfortable. The black sand beach where one can usually see turtles is a short walk away. There is a lifeguard there but few people swim. Be sure and stock up as there are no grocery stores of any size nearby. The Volcano Park is a 1/2 hour drive and the green sand beach near south point is spectacular though not accessible by car. Locals offer a bumpy truck ride for a fee. To summarize: a restful and comfortable destination away from the crowds.

This is a unit in a small condo development less than 10 minutes walk to the black sand beach where green sea turtles are easy to see. It is in the most private and secluded position on the edge of the development overlooking a former golf course and set back about 200m from the rocky beach. The unit is comfortably furnished and has everything you would want for a short or a much longer stay. The owner has provided lots of extras like books on local fish, hikes etc. The kitchen is a bit dated but has all the essentials. The bed is comfortable. The development is very well maintained with a nice pool, BBQs and lovely gardens. There is a great little restaurant in a nearby small town—Naalehu. The volcano national park is an easy day trip. Very good value compared to other accommodation we had on the island.

We really enjoyed staying at Hale Kekai! The hale was very private, very comfortable and well stocked which made it so easy for us to settle in. The gorgeous Hawaiian paintings and artwork added flair and character! The lanai was also very private with sweeping, unobstructed views of the ocean that were amazing! We liked to chill there, watching the sun rise, reading books, and eating meals. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking, and the coffee grinder was a welcome surprise. We found all the furniture to be very comfortable, too. We took several strolls down to Punalu’u Black Sand beach, and we referenced the Hale Kekai Insiders Guide to explore nearby historic sites and foot trails and other smaller beaches. Many thanks to Jeff, the owner, for researching and writing that guide and sharing it. What a treasure! During our stay Jeff was very responsive and kindly let us enjoy our last morning at the hale; no departing chores like many rentals require. Our 3-night stay was too, too short! Hope we can return in the future!

This is a nice quiet place on the south end if the island close to the black sand and green sand beaches. It is a great place to relax and a good place to serve as home base when exploring the island. This unit has great view from the back patio.

Beautiful place, perfect lay out of rooms with south-facing patio. Neighbors next door, but patio was very private. Pool was great for the kids. Black sand beach is wonderful, saw lots of green turtles. Best bakery ever in the nearest village.

Let's start with the owner Jeff - prior to our visit Jeff reached out and provided info regarding the unit, provided his contact info and welcomed any concerns or questions. When we arrived we were thrilled with the accommodations, location and amenities. This unit is an excellent place to stay and we would definitely be returning. Thank you!

Return visits say it all. We love this unit. Stayed here previously in 2015 and 2018. Glad to see it was available for our week in the Big Island this time. Well appointed and equipped. Everything clean and in working order. Great location nearer Volcanoes National Park than Hilo or Kona. Scrumptious bakery just up the road. Great black sand beach. Miss the golf course but the condo complex is well maintained and quiet. Hope to return again.

November 2023
Beautiful, relaxing and quiet. Just as described. Be sure to bring food as there is virtually nowhere close by to buy much of anything. We would stay again if we revisit this island

The absolute best VRBO property we've ever stayed in. The condo is beautiful and well-stocked. The host responds to questions or issues immediately. The location within a 10-minute walk from Punalu'u black sand beach is outstanding. This is our second time renting here. We love it.

September 2023
Mahalo Jeff, We completely enjoyed our stay at Hale Ke Kai. It's a fabulous location both island wise and within the complex. Unobstructed views of the ocean and the old golf course. The unit is very well stocked, spices in the kitchen, linens, paper products and Aloha. We spent a week here and felt revitalized when we left. It's one hour to Hilo, 40 mins to Volcanos Natl. Park and a hour and a half to Kailua-Kona. It's a bit remote and that's what we wanted. We will stay here again in the future if available. Jeff is a great host with excellent communications. Mahalo again, Brent Clancy, MT

It was hard to leave this place. The view from the patio and from there nearby pool was everything I had hoped for. There wasn't any AC but with the fans running at night we slept very comfortable. Highly recommend for your trip to the big island!

September 2023
I knew we'd be out there... but this spot is absolutely perfect for enjoying nature without having to give up too many amenities (with a child, kind of a must...for now). Do your grocery shopping prior, and enjoy the heck out of this property. Pull out bed is actually extremely comfortable, and we let my daughter sleep in the main room so we could hear the ocean at night.

Enjoyed our stay. The pictures displayed are exactly what to expect when you get there. Clean, comfortable and relaxing. I highly recommend this unit.

July 2023
The home was exactly as advertised. It is in a quite rural area, so car is definitely recommended for getting around town, to go eat out or go grocery shopping. A black sand beach is five minutes walking distance away and it’s beautiful, and there are green turtles sunning themselves there too.

Michael M.
July 2023
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 40th anniversary trip to the Big Island. The condo was perfect for an adult couple with lots to see and do within driving distance, or just stay home and lounge on the patio or at the pool. The turtles at the Black Sands Beach were only a few minutes away. All around great time.

My husband and I absolutely LOVED this property! It was quaint and private. Short walk to the beach was amazing and right in the middle of Hilo and Kona! We will be back!

June 2023
My husband and I just returned from our trip and We loved this perfect little cottage! I found this place using accessibility filters on vrbo as my husband is a wheelchair user. Just a quick heads up to other wheelchair users- this space is a little tight to navigate (especially if you use a power chair). The door is also really really heavy (husband couldn’t open it on his own) and the hill leading to the house is very steep. This is not AT ALL Meant to come across as a negative review- we had a lovely time and loved being at the house. Just wanted to give a heads up to any other wheelchair users looking for an accessible space. It is technically accessible” but by the end of the week my husband was a little frustrated.

May 2023
We really enjoyed our stay at Hale Kekai. We had a tv problem and Jeff was quickly responsive in solving the issue. While it turned out to be unsolvable, it didn't impact our stay at all but he made it up to us regardless. The pool area is was never busy and had a beautiful view. We walked to the black sand beach and had a great time seeing the turtles. We would surely stay again!

May 2023
Enjoyed restful 3 days away from crowds. Cottage sits on bluff with unrestricted views of magnificent Punaluu coast. Short walk to black sand beach. 25 min. drive to Volcano National Park. Tastefully decorated and provisioned with all comforts of home. Jeff is a friendly, gracious host.

May 2023
Property was gorgeous, centrally located between Hilo and Kona. Peaceful, location of the unit was perfect for sunrises. Short walk to the black sand beach to see the green turtles. Amenities were all there. Just a great place to stay.

April 2023
This was an amazing spot and just right for us, away from mass tourism, with fabulous views and close to the volcano national park with plenty to do otherwise. Amazing poop and hot tub and everything modern and nice. Very much enjoyed our stay and would surely go back! Many thanks, Jeff!

If you are staying in / near Punaluʻu, is this nice and private feeling unit. Jeff was great and we had a nice time.

April 2023
This beautiful property is a bit off the beaten path, and is a great place to stay to get away from the noise. We really enjoyed the quick walk to the black sand beach. This spot is also situated perfectly between Hilo and the Kona airport - so it is easy to do both sides of the island with ease.

Annelise S.
April 2023
Amazing views from lania of ocean and surrounding countryside. Well kept condo unit with plenty of space for our three person family. Enjoyed pool and lava rock hot tub at night. Unit was clean and had everything we needed - we hope to be back! Thanks Jeff!

April 2023
This is an absolutely lovely property and location. I loved sitting on the patio and listening to the ocean and the birds in the morning and evenings. It’s close to Volcanoes National Park - it’s absolutely perfect if you plan to spend a lot of time in the park. We got up early each day and made it to the park by 7AM and had all the trails to ourselves. That alone is worth the stay. The black sand beach is within walking distance and you’ll see green sea turtles and nēnē wandering around. It feels a world away from any other part of the island. The condo was older but clean and well taken care of. Really, it’s perfect. We loved it so much and I hope we’ll come back again. Jeff was also wonderful. He stayed in touch and was always friendly. I really can’t recommend it enough! I wish we had stayed longer!

This condo is a very relaxing spot to unwind and explore the South end of the Big Island. Would recommend to other couples. Enjoy!

March 2023
We enjoy this little cottage- it was quiet and peaceful and had a wonderful view of the sunrise in the mornings and the ocean. The quick walk down to Punalu’u Beach was nice and we saw turtles almost every day. Even though there wasn’t AC (which we knew) it cooled off at night and we slept fine. You’re close to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park; however, not much else. I’d highly recommend the Tuk Tuk Thai Food Truck in Volcano and the Punalu’u Bake Shop in Naalehu- both were excellent. There were a few insects at the condo- the deck must have an ant colony somewhere under the cement that should be addressed. Despite that, we would definitely stay again. 😊

February 2023
We loved the location, and being able to get away from it all. We stopped by the grocery story when we landed, and loaded up on basics. From there we headed to the condo and were pleasantly surprised with all of the amenities and easy access. Amazing views, location and all the guests we encountered were very friendly. It was quiet and perfect for relaxing. A+

February 2023
We enjoyed our stay in this condo, it was the perfect break from the busyness of Kona. Nice layout/furnishings and the patio is such a great private location in a peaceful complex, with a neat view of the old golf course and ocean. Great hot tub just down the sidewalk. Close to Punalu’u black sand beach and we also liked Whittington Beach park, which was not far down the road, and of course the easy access to the S/SE corners of the island - we were glad we stayed on the south end for part of our trip to cut down on days spent driving. Abnormally wet weather impacted the entire island during our stay but we still enjoyed sitting under the patio awning, and the slopes to the north blocked the wind so it was much more pleasant here than some areas. The road to the west was flooded on our way back to the Kona airport, but it was probably easier to drive around through Hilo in the rain anyway, so no big deal. Host was super responsive and easy to work with.

January 2023
We loved this condo and it's location. The condo is more private than most of the other units, has a great view, close to the pool and is very well equipped.

Annmarie M.
January 2023
This unit had the best view of the whole complex. We sat for hours listening to and watching the ocean. It was a short walk to Punalu’u Black Sand Beach and a 10 minute drive to Na’ahilu where you can find a couple of cafes and the famous Punalu’u Bake shop. South Point was also close by and the National Park is only 35 minutes away. It does get warm in the unit in the daytime but there are plenty of fans to keep it cool at night. A perfect quiet getaway in the southern part of the Big Island.

kristy l.
January 2023
Piece of Heaven definitely breathtaking set my alarm to watch the sunrise right there over the beautiful ocean view check out was easier than I’ve ever experienced and they had a bouquet of beautiful flowers waiting there is no air conditioner but it’s OK I didn’t die and there are fans that kept it cool enough

This place is perfect! Ocean views, sunrise right in your lap. Super comfortable and has everything you might need. The beaches within walking distance are beautiful.

Jennifer L.
December 2022
We loved our stay here -- a great place to stay to be closer to things on the southern and eastern part of the island. Easy day trips to Hilo, Volcanoes National Park, green sand beach - and the black sand beach is right there. The view from the place cannot be beat. Pool and hot tub were great too! One thing we didn't pay close attention to - this spot is really on its own - bring food with you or just know there are limited options (and the ones that exist close early) for restaurants or grocery stores. Not a minus - just important to know! Hosts were responsive and helpful. We loved this spot!!

Tricia S.
December 2022
Lovely location far from touristy stuff. Nice just to relax.

December 2022
The condo was perfect for two. All the neighbors were friendly and we did visit the black beach once. We were out adventuring every day as the condo is about 30 minutes from Volcanoes NP and 1.5 hours from adventures in Kona.. Naalehu had a good farmers market and we stocked up on fish, fresh bread and fruit. Naalehu is about 15 minutes. The nearest larger grocery store is in Ocean view, 20 minutes from the condo. The condo had all cooking needs covered, beach towels, fins and a boogie board. We had coffee on the patio with a view of the ocean every morning. Also, the ceiling fans moved air nicely and kept the condo comfortable.

Jake D.
November 2022
The proximity (short walk) to Punalu’u Beach where you can enjoy the black sands, snorkeling with tropical fish, and observing sea turtles underwater contently going about their days was simply awesome! Volcano Nation Park was only about a 30-minute drive away as well. The shared pool and hot tub on-site were very nice with beautiful landscaping, nighttime stars, sunrise and sunset views! The space had everything we needed including linens and beach towels. Check-out was very hands-off and easy.

November 2022
Nice private unit at the end of the Colony One project. It's a very pleasant, relaxing place to stay for a few days. Only complaints is the unit wasn't as clean as we hoped (fair amount of dirt and even animal droppings littered around property) and needs updating (e.g., outside table is uncomfortable and could use an umbrella to block the glaring sun). Fairly well stocked (...though there was no soap in bathroom.; had to use hand sanitizer instead). Notwithstanding such hiccups, would recommend the place as a nice relaxing get-away.

November 2022
Loved this unit. It was in a nice quiet area. Very clean, loved the open space of the yard. Will definitely be back!

Kristy N.
November 2022
The condo is as advertised. It feels like you have your own back yard. The nice breeze and sunrises cannot be beat. The bed was very comfortable. The condo was well stocked with towels, kitchen items, and beach items. Communication with the owner was top notch. There is a nice view of the ocean and mountains. We loved the location for exploring the east side of the island. Having Punalu’u Black Sand beach so close by was incredible and easily walked to. There is no air conditioning, but that is stated in the description. They do have ceiling fans and 3 extra fans to keep you cooler. I highly recommend this condo. It is off the beaten path, which we love, serene, peaceful, and as private as you can get being in a condo.

Great unit. Clean, everything I needed.

October 2022
Amazing views, great location and is very private even though it’s in a condo complex, not far from entrance to Volcano National Park, close to the southern-most and fabulous Punaluu Bakery, just down the road from the Black Sand beach, beautifully decorated (love the art prints!), wonderful restaurants in Volcano, has everything you need for your stay. We could have stayed longer than the 5 nights we were there. Thank you, Jeff, for sharing your little bit of paradise with us.

October 2022
If you are looking for a place to stay that is away from the hustle and bustle, this the place. Located near a black sand beach with a sea turtle refuge. The view from the patio is stunning with amazing sunrises. The owner proved to be a great help to us

October 2022
The condo is very clean and had all that we needed. The condo project is very well kept and generally very quiet. This area is isolated but we knew that before we visited and we were prepared to drive some distance to see the sights. Or just stay and enjoy the peace of the condo. Some people have complained about the lack of air conditioning but we found it to be quite comfortable utilizing the breeze, sliding doors and louvered windows. It is also very nice that it has two remote smoking areas and no smoking within the condo area. The beach is busy but so easy to walk to and enjoy anytime of the day.

Ka’u and this property is for people who want to experience the “Real Hawaii”, as several locals pointed out to us. Adorable little place with a spectacular view. If you want a glossy, soulless resort, look elsewhere. If you want an authentic, wild beauty that will leave you breathless — this is your place. Gaze at the Milky Way right out off the lanai. Enjoy real deal Hawaiian food in the tiny towns dotting the coast. Sink your toes into pitch black sand just down the road. Enjoy!

This place is the ideal place if you wanna relax and want to enjoy beautiful scenery. Walking distance to black sand beach which is breathtaking. We got married down there during our stay and it was amazing. Yes, this place is far away from any major towns but there is still so much to see and do. There are lots of little restaurants and food trucks that are not that far. Naahalu has the best pastry shop. Volcano park is a close drive and have amazing restaurants inside and the trip to hilo is a straight shot and worth the drive. Drove to kona once. Hated the curvy road and way to much tourists for my likings. I was ready to get back out to the serenty of this place. We will definitely be returning.

August 2022
This is a beautiful property with amazing views of the ocean. The community is well maintained and manicured. It’s a short drive to Naalehu which has the Southern most bakery in the USA. The black sand beach at Punalu’u had some turtles for viewing.

August 2022
Condo was not accurate in descriptions! Refrigerator did not work for being a year old. Had to throw away meat and fish due to it not getting cold enough. Said it had new bed and upgraded kitchen utensils. Not true. These condo people make lots of money on renting them out they should have decent pots, pans silverware and a fridge that works. Other than that it was a good place. The advertisement of condo still has pictures of the golf course that is closed down. Should have updated pictures in my opinion. We still liked the condos just don't like being lied to.

Amber C.
August 2022
We thoroughly enjoyed the property, it was a short walk to the beach, it was clean and quiet. It was a short drive to the Volcano National Park. We would recommend the property as an opportunity to explore the south side of the island.

Hollie L.
July 2022
Jeff has a nice, clean condo in a remote location on the south side of the island with easy access to an impressive black sand beach and a view of the ocean. If you are looking to get away from it all and explore the South side of the island this is a good spot for sure! I would recommend stocking up on groceries prior to your arrival because there aren't restaurants or grocery stores close by but it's a nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Kona and Hilo.

July 2022
A separate chapter of our honeymoon far from the city that had us enchanted at the beautiful night sky and sunrises everyday. A quick walk to black sand beach with sleeping sea turtles was fun along with a short 40 min drive to Volcano national park. No AC which is fine as long as you open the vents around the property. The pool area staff were very touchy so if you plan to grill/chill read the rules beforehand. Only other ding was there were quite a few ants if you leave food out, so as long as your diligent it won’t be a problem.

June 2022
Really lovely cottage with a lanai that looked out over coconut palms and ocean. We enjoyed all the amenities - a well- stocked kitchen, laundry, and nearby communal pool, hot tub and grill. We walked the half mile to the Black Sand Beach daily and enjoyed swimming and spotting sea turtles. The night sky from the lanai - breathtaking! Things that could have been better: a more efficient toaster, the fridge wasn't cold enough, and 1 of my teens had to sleep on the floor rather than share the pullout couch. All very minor inconveniences in the scheme of this gorgeous, out of the way setting. Thank-you!

Carrie H.
June 2022
The description of this property does not do it justice! This is a spacious, private condo with lots of windows and a beautiful lanai to catch the breezes, the sound of the ocean, and THE VIEW! We loved our stay here because it was quiet, private, comfortable, and convenient. We went to a coffee farm, south point, Captain Hook, Hilo, the volcanoes, and so much more. But my favorite thing was sitting out back with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, watching the waves crashing, listening to the ocean, watching the birds, and just relaxing. The grill area was great and never busy. There is a grocery store not too far. Our only regret was that we didn’t stay longer. We will be back!

June 2022
This property is located near Volcanoes National Park & Punaluu black sand beach. It is equipped with everything you could possibly need, the view is wonderful and it is not overlooked by other units. Jeff, the host was exceptionally helpful when we needed to postpone our trip due to the pandemic. I needed a shower chair & Jeff arranged for a friend to deliver it that morning. His kindness was much appreciated. We really enjoyed our stay & look forward to returning

May 2022
The condo was wonderful--very comfortable, had everything we needed. The location and proximity to the Black Sand Beach is just perfect--about a 10 min walk. There was an ant issue that I wish that I had some prior knowledge of, but otherwise a great stay.

May 2022
Even though this property has neighbors we truly experienced a quiet respite from our days of exploration. The shared pool and hot tub soothed our bodies from our hours long hike and the private porch afforded us the space and time to plan and recapture our days. The bed was luxuriously comfortable to boot! Despite the minor complaints we had (which have been communicated to the owner) we would easily book this property again if ever in the area.

This home is the perfect place to relax after a day of adventures in Big Island. I highly recommend.

May 2022
The photos listed did not do it justice. Phenomenal views from the linai. The place was very comfortable and quiet. We were within a 15 minute walk to the spectacular black sand beach nearby with green sea turtles. Relaxing beyond measure. Able to read a lot but if you are planning to watch tv, the one there is very small and hard to work, but for us it was fine not watching tv. Our trip was for relaxation and solitude and this place was great! The kitchen was not stoked with dishes as much as other VRBO places but adequate. If we ever come back to the island again this is where we would try to stay again but for a longer time. Amazing location.

Absolutely amazing! Being back in Canada for a week now.. I have to say when I shut my eyes I imagine Jeff’s condo! Waking up with that beautiful view and having early swims with the turtles on the black sand beach is still a dream. Family friendly yet secluded… pool was warm… hot tub was great, we met other couples from both around the world and locals… The condo’s location and how it faces the garden and ocean feels like you are secluded and the only person there. The view is uninterrupted!! I will 100% recommend Jeff’s paradise… Amy Mihoc-Barnes

The unit is beautiful! Pictures really do not do it justice. The location provides for an unobstructed sea view and complete privacy. Falling asleep listening to the waves will be missed!

After 4 days in Kailua-Kona, arriving in Punalu'u felt like a different world. The unit is beautiful, we loved the high ceilings and the views from the lanai were incredible. Not just during the day watching the palm trees sway and the waves crash, but at night there were more stars than I've ever seen anywhere. While the location is secluded, it's an easy walk to Punalu'u Beach for the black sand. We saw turtles every time we went down there. It's also less than an hour drive to South Point, Papakolea (Green Sand) Beach, and Volcano and the National Park. We loved exploring this part of the island and next time we come back I would want to stay in this area even longer. The restaurants in Volcano Village and the Park were better than anything we found in Kailua as well.

The apartment is clean, functional, and in a beautiful location. We could not have asked for anything more.

We really enjoyed this place. Comfortable, private unit with a beautiful view towards the ocean. It’s a short walk to the black sand beach, and fun to get there early in the morning before the crowds arrived. This was a part of the island we had not stayed on before, and we found it relaxing and very pleasant. Nice small Saturday market in nearby Na’alehu.

Fully functioning kitchen comfortable bed and pleaseant decor. Fast wifi, easy checking, great host communication. A good value and easy drive from KOA from an afternoon arriving flight.

I reserved this condo well ahead of time and I'm glad I did. It was very peaceful and quiet with a great view. There were nene out in the golf course and other birds singing in the morning. Everything was very comfortable and clean. We like to cook for ourselves but didn't plan ahead for this location. Be sure to buy groceries before you get here because its not near any stores or restaurants. Its a great place to stay on the south end and chill. We went up to Kilauea several days, and were glad we stayed here instead of in Volcano where it was cooler and rainier. The drive to Kilauea was easy and it was only 30-40 minutes. It was no big deal to drive the road in the dark after viewing the lava at night. Black sand beach nearby was a great place to chill and read in the shade of the palm trees. I may not be back on the big island for a while but I'd definitely reccomend this location for those who like solitude. The morning sun rising over the ocean was so nice. Thank you!

If you want to be where it is crowded and touristy like in Kona, do not come here. If you want peace and quiet in a heavenly place, look no further. This place had sort of a 70's or 80's vibe but is maintained like it was built yesterday. The gardens are manicured by master gardeners. And our particular unit had a view of the ocean that was unparalleled. You are a 12 minute walk from a beautiful black sand beach where green sea turtles regularly sun themselves. There are two incredible (but demanding) hikes up and down the coast which lead to ancient Polynesian sites. We did both and liked the challenge. Bring plenty of water! South point is 25 minutes away and there is a green sand beach accessible by foot or off-road vehicle. (Be sure to locate the nearer parking at KAULANA Boat RAMP. Kīlauea is 25 minutes away in the opposite direction at the Volcanoes National Park. Be sure to eat at ʻŌhelo Café near the park. Excellent dining experience! If you want to snorkel up at the Captain Cook monument, then you will drive for over an hour. We did it and it was fine. Kona and it's local restaurants will be a longer drive but we did that too. Mainly this place is about peace and quiet with mostly an older crowd. The pool and hot tub are fabulous. Tub is 105 degrees -- hot! It's just peaceful. Loved it!

Jeff’s home was the perfect base for us to explore the South Side. Close to Volcanoes National Park and easy drive to Hilo. We stocked up on groceries before arriving which was great as things close early here. The home is comfortable and welcoming. Stunning sunrises from the lanai and an easy walk to Punalu’u Black Sand Beach. The Kilauea eruption viewing after sunset is an amazing experience. Highly recommend staying here!!

This is a beautiful little condo with a perfect lanai and a private feel. Easy access to a gorgeous black sand beach, where we saw giant sea turtles. Close to Volcanos National Park. Would most definitely stay here again.

We arrived at the rental after dark and couldn't wait for day light to see it. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and maintained, and each little condo is built to so the occupants feel like the only people on the grounds. From our patio we only saw the grounds keepers. So private! The black sand beach was a quick drive or a nice walk from the condo, and on our second visit there were quite a few sea turtles sunning on the beach and several more swimming in the shallows. Though the condo is quite a drive from the airport, it was a good location from which to launch for several of the places we wanted to tour. The condo itself had everything we needed and made our stay as comfortable as if we were at home. The fans provided by the owners, and the daily breezes kept the place comfortable. The shower is huge and so pretty and the towels were plush and pretty. We thank you for a wonderful stay and highly recommend renting this condo to anyone looking to spend time on the south of the big island.

The condo was exactly as described. It was so quiet and peaceful and the location made it feel like we were secluded. We saw sea turtles every time we walked to the black sand beach. The location was perfect for going to see the volcano before sunrise.
