Aloha! Here is your rare opportunity to experience a well-appointed, clean, & fresh condominium in the quaint little Hawaiian village of Puako! The master bedroom has a California King bed, a private lanai, and an ocean view. This unit also has a swimming pool in the complex.

We have owned our condo since 2005 before Homeaway, VRBO and Expedia merged. Our 64+ Five star ratings from our guests are a culmination of years worth of feedback (although only some are showing on this website). We are an APPROVED STVR #19-359590 following all of the Hawaii State Law Lodging requirements and our Hawaii Tax Lodging ID #T-006-562-6112; GET# GE-006-562-6112-01R. STVR stands for Short Term Vacation Rental. We also follow cleanliness guidelines for COVID19 prevention.

This condo is a place to relax and enjoy the sunny splendor of Hawaii, with Puako being a gem of the Big Island. Sounds of the surf or returning whales in the bay can lullaby you to sleep at night. Stars are visible from the master bedroom at night! This master bedroom has its own A/C, and the living room has its own larger A/C unit with high output which cools the condo.

The second bedroom is set with a Queen size bed of equal comfort as the master and is nestled against the backside of the condo with its own private entry door. Full closets and tropical decor create a theme of relaxation.

There are plenty of extra amenities that create the real ambiance of Aloha in the Puako #303 condominium. This owner has traveled extensively and has brought into this lodging the "small things" that make our time away from home either an 'okay' experience or an excellent one!

Unexpected travel items such as soaps, shampoos, sunblock, bandaids, coffee, teas, island cookbooks, or 'Big Island Revealed', books are often available for your enjoyment. High-speed internet access, flat screen Cable TV, and outdoor dining on the lanai for breathtaking sunsets are all options that set this accommodation apart from others.

The Paniolo Room doubles as an office when the queen-size sofa bed is not in use. Give yourself a few private moments at the roomy desk to write a 'I wish you were here' postcard. If you decide to work from the condo, we also have wireless internet.

Hospitality abounds in this home as it has clean and beautiful appliances, kitchenware, and linens including six fluffy beach towels and also a selection of books. This condo has a view of the surf and coastline due to its upper location on the third floor.

Access to food and services are close by and without the Kona traffic jams! Five Star world-class resorts & hotels have chosen this region because it affords proximity to some of the finest beaches in the world (Hapuna & Wailea).

Activities on the island can also include a wealth of things; golfing, horse back riding, diving, surfing, birding, visiting botanical gardens, fishing, snorkeling, boutique shopping, spas, sailing, hiking in lush tropical forests, helicopter rides, fine dining, spiritual retreats, or beachcombing. You may also choose to explore the petroglyphs at the Archeological Reserve, discover the volcano by helicopter, visit for the Ironman Triathalon in October, humpback whale watching (Dec.-May), view the stars at the Mauna Kea observatory or slip off on a sunset sail...

A simple morning or evening stroll across the street from this Puako Condo #303 can afford you breathtaking sights of sea turtles in their natural habitat and an opportunity to snorkle or dive in protected waters and coral reefs. There is a swimming pool in the garden area of the complex for those who prefer exercising, sunning, or relaxing poolside. Price point for the condo is a major plus given the cost of hotels nearby. However, keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, the landlord elected to ding me in ratings for bringing the cleaniness and multiple plumbing issues to her attention.

Apartment was clean, bright and comfortable. Bed and linens so comfortable. In a long history of rentals this was the best equipped apartment we've stayed in, everything you could possibly need plus a great store next door. Finally Steve and Sonja were great to work with, accomadated a late check out for us. Couldn't ask for a better experience, many thanks Steve and Sonja

My husband and I just returned from a very enjoyable vacation at Steve and Sonja's condominium. Although the condo is older, it is very clean and well maintained. The master bed is quite comfortable. They have provided both beach chairs and beach towels for their guests. The washer and dryer in the unit worked well. There is a hair dryer. We did use the air conditioners some and they kept the condo very cool. The beach access is across the road. The walk is short and the beach is nice. We enjoyed the electric Webber grill on the lani. The view does overlook the parking lot but there is nice water view as well. This area is very quiet which is what we were looking for. The resort areas have many places to dine. Sarah, the property manager, was very helpful. The only negative is there is no dishwasher as stated in the description. We really enjoyed staying here. Please note the homes across the street rent upwards of $2500/night. This condo is in a great area and has a really unique and enjoyable atmosphere.

Ideal location and size for our family of 3. Puako is the perfect quiet location. Away from the big busy resorts, but near world class diving, snorkeling and beaches. I will definitely return! Thanks for a great vacation!

We stayed at Sonja and Steve's condo last year and returned again for two weeks this March. Last year we found everything about this condo was exactly as advertised by Sonja and Steve. This year? Just the same, except only better because of the new appliances. (Tip for visitors - If you stop on the way from the airport to buy groceries, don't purchase condiments, spices or other similar staples without first checking the condo because we found the fridge and cupboards well stocked with these things.) Across the road is a wonderful sandy beach where we saw turtles while snorkeling. We took a whale watching trip from the Puako Bay boat launch (a five minute walk down the road). This condo is also conveniently located on the island; a short drive from the airport and to other great beaches, grocery stores, farmer's markets and access to the Saddle Road for Mauna Kea or to cross over to the other coast for Volcano National Park. Finally, Sonja and Steve are wonderful to deal with. We will be returning here next year. (Actually, for purely selfish reason, I should have given this condo a lousy review in order to increase our chances of finding an opening next year. ☺)

We love Puako and this is a perfect place to stay. Beaches are close and all the equipment you need is available at this unit. Beds are comfortable and AC available if needed. We just used the ceiling fans. The condo has a nice homey feel to it and I would recommend it to friends. Sonja and Steve are very helpful and answer questions quickly.

We had a great holiday and enjoyed our stay at this very clean and well-appointed condominium. We loved the location, and our teen boys trudged off to the wonderland across the street every morning with their nets and buckets to explore the tidepools. Between that, the snorkeling, the fishing, and the exploring, it was very "Boy's Life" in a way that is all too uncommon in our family's day-to-day urban lifestyle. As others have noted, it's great being so close to world-class Hapuna Beach for sun and boogie boarding, as well as the beach at mile marker 69 (our favorite thanks to the shade and snorkeling). One thing that may not be mentioned enough in other reviews is the priceless breeze that blows through every evening and morning (at least in December). It's such a pleasant and peaceful breeze to fall asleep and wake up to. Everyone slept really well during our stay. As others have mentioned, Sara is really very sweet about nice little touches around the property like leaving fresh flowers in the elevator. We so overpacked because of the washer/dryer and how well stocked the condo was. Had many opportunities to support the local economy at the general store, farmers markets, etc. We took advantage of the kitchen, but also enjoyed a splurge at Merriman's and The Copper Bar at Mauna Kea. Bamboo up in Hawi was worth the drive. We hope to return in the future.
