This absolute Ocean Front Home it is not situated on a sea cliff but is just a few feet above sea level on sheltered PaPa Bay. Because of this lots unique topography and elevation you are just above the water line and a few steps from walking to the water. Additionally a minute walk away is a public access point in the Bay which the neighbourhood uses to safely go into the water. Please refer to our pictures for a better appreciation of our location on the Ocean. Aside from the superb ocean location and access this house affords, it is a fairly new concrete home designed to meet and surpass all the latest safety and building codes. It is a 2 Bedroom home with the Master Bedroom having an oversized King sized California Bed. This room has a 12 foot wide glass sliding door directly facing the Ocean. The second bedroom has a queen bed. This 2nd bedroom room has a large 6 foot by 4 foot window for views of the Ocean also. In addition it has another 6 foot x 2 foot window for mountain views. The house has 7 separate sliding glass doors which capitalize on it's stunning ocean views. Appliances are all brand new.. The cabinets in the kitchen were custom designed and built for the home. Finally the best way to describe our home is to simply let our previous guests who have stayed there do it for us. It has been almost 7 years since we built the home brand new and have we have been renting it. We have had numerous guests over the years and everyone so far has been very happy with the home and our communications and tips that we give them. This has made Mindy and I very happy knowing that when we set out on building our dream to make a perfect vacation home , it has been realized based due to the happiness and satisfaction of our past guests. We had been in a VRBO two houses down - 9 yrs ago so knew all about the area - no surprizes except the new housing . Loved watching the waves and going to sleep with doors open and waves crashing in. Away from the city and quiet nights is what we want. Adequet internet and TV for those few lazy days. Place is spacious comfortable and clean. What else does anyone need? The skinny dipping teenagers a couple houses down one afternoon were a bonus. Kona is an hour way on a winding road, but that was well known to us and is not a problem as we dont care to visit the city we went the other direction mostly and visited the wilds.

First of all…we can’t say enough about the property’s owners. They are down to earth people who made us feel so much at home. They gave us tips on places to go and things to do. If we needed anything or had any questions they immediately responded. The house is very comfortable and homey but the view is absolutely breathtaking. If you are looking for a place to relax or a base to come and go from, we promise you will not be disappointed!! We didn’t want to leave and even though this was a bucket list vacation, we will probably go back!

Awesome spot. So quiet at night and good to look at stars from. Just what we needed. Daniel is an awesome host. Very helpful with vacation ideas . We did most of them and loved it. Kitchen very well stocked. It has everything. Will come back for sure. If you can arrive at daytime....not a bad idea. I still arrived at night with no issues just take your time.

We enjoyed our stay at the oceanfront house. The ocean view was amazing. The house was clean and fully stocked. The beds were very comfortable. The location was great. We found a great snorkeling area in the nearby Honomalino beach. We had the entire beach to ourselves. We enjoyed our morning hikes to the lava rock field at the end of the street. The star gazing was amazing. During our stay, it was very hot and humid. The fans and windows were inadequate to cool down the house at night. We wished the house had covered patios in the back to enjoy the house in the afternoon. Overall we enjoyed our peaceful stay and recommended this home to our friends.

Great spot….beautiful ocean view. Has everything you’ll need. Although it states they have things like shampoos and body soap. There was none…except for what maybe someone accidentally left from previous stay. Hosts are incredibly nice….communication with them is awesome. We ran out of a couple things and they got it to us super fast! Just an important fyi to anyone wanting to travel a bunch into Kona and such. This cute and quiet place is an hour away. And the road down to this really cute neighborhood and place is extremely winding…and at times nerve wracking…..especially in the dark. If you don’t mind the drive…this place is a sweet gem! And….the sunsets are out of this world!!

The host was great and the house nice and clean. If you want remote with lots of stars and quiet by the ocean then this is great. About 45 minutes from the world but not an issue for us. If you need civilization then maybe not for you.

This is where you want to go to escape from the hotel zone tourist traps. No time share presentations! Dan and Mindy are the perfect hosts. Thank you Mindy for that wonderful brunch talking story about life on the Big Island in this very special niche community. You'll be in a 2-bdrm home with full kitchen and a view of the stars from the sliding ocean-facing bedroom doors to kill for. It's life on the rocks (lava rocks). And large sliding doors throughout the home to showcase the lava shelf meeting the ocean. Great snorking off of a quaint dock about a block away. You'll experience the rural life of the modern day islander living at the base of a volcano. (But the technology is there too - high speed internet connection providing seamless video streaming if you bring your own device.) Be prepared for the thrill of an 11-minute drive down a winding mountain road to arrive. Not for the faint-hearted - but the road is paved and well-maintained, unlike some other roads like this in Hawaii. No need for a 4-wheeler. And part of the overall experience. Great beaches within 20-30 minutes drive once up on the highway. However - expect to encounter the full-on nature experience - which included the occasion buggy or tiny mosquito that inhabit the laval rocks surrounding all the homes in this type of setting. Not the Four Seasons. But definitely for the one who chooses to experience the road less travelled.

We had a wonderful time staying at this house. If you are looking for a lovely house with an amazing view and away from the hustle of the tourist areas, then this is where you want to be. This is exactly what we were looking for! Every night we viewed fantastic sunsets. We didn't eat at a restaurant for dinner the entire time because it was so incredible to be there! The home was comfortable, nicely furnished, well equipped and in good condition. Because you're in a rather remote area, you need to watch water consumption, so you have to be willing to deal with this and not have a dishwasher. To us, it was totally worth it. Dan was a great host. He made great recommendations to us once he knew that we were interested in great snorkeling beaches. Of course we also went to Volcano National Park and visited Pahoa where the last eruption took place. While we were there, there was a threat of a tropical storm predicted to hit the Big Island. Dan spent a lot of time reassuring us that storms don't hit that part of the island but still made the necessary preparations. He came over to the house to talk to us and then kept us updated through text. He was right, we did not get a drop of rain! The storm veered south, though the Hilo side of the island did get some impact. We also met so many nice neighbors. We felt very comfortable there and would take a walk every morning. Thank you Dan for your hospitality and opening your home to us. Regards, Shelley and Gil

Was a great choice for our stay in Hawaii! The oceanfront views were a spectacular way to start and end our days, soaking in the beauty of the morning sunrise and the amazing sunsets right over the water. The home was very spacious and well cared for. With no shade and no AC there were times it got rather warm, however we used this time to explore and enjoy the island. Dan is great, he provided a lot of information that was helpful during our stay; both in regards to the house and around the island. With a just a short walk we were able to access the ocean for some morning snorkeling; the access however, even with the steps, can be a bit tricky as the steps can be slick and the waves crashing in. Overall it’s an excellent home and would definitely stay here again!

Coming from the Chicagoland area, I could not have asked for a more peaceful, paradise vacation! Don’t get me wrong, we explored literally all around the big island, immersing ourselves in all it had to offer. But to wake up and fall asleep to the sights and sounds that Dan’s home had to offer though, well that’s just what the doctor ordered (recharge, reset, rebalance, etc) and it really made the vacation! The house was spacious, clean, breezy (the ocean…LOVE), and had everything we needed! The night sky is incredible! We also witnessed rainbows over the ocean multiple times! The neighborhood itself was very quiet. I’m not a fan of some of the roads we experienced on the island, but that’s just me and my nerves…LOL. Dan is an awesome guy with a lot of knowledge and great recommendations, and is easy to get ahold of if needed

This is a unbelievable property about 40 feet from the cost of the ocean. It's located about an hour away from touristy Kona about an 1.5 hours from the Volcanoes. This is the place you want to be if you want to sit and listen to the ocean under the bright blue sky or the vibrant stars with no distractions. Sleeping with the ocean right outside your door makes for a wonderful nature soundtrack. The drive from the highway is very winding so beware if you get carsick. Overall our stay was beyond words & we would definitely recommend to friends.

The property was perfect. Spacious, clean and amazing front water views. The property is a bit close to water for small children but I had my kids run around mainly without shoes and they did not dare to step on the rocks! There is an awesome paved patio the kids enjoyed time on and of course inside the residence running back and forth! Only tiny complaint would be the drive down and up the main street to get there. It’s a good 10 minute drive of steep turns and curves but totally worth the views. Thank you for having us!

One of a kind, hear the ocean, surrounded by the lava landscape.... Yes, the place could use some updates, and it is quite a ways from stores and restaurants. But the place is huge and the kitchen is outfitted so you can cook up a storm. If you want to feel like you are in a retreat and be so close to the ocean, that you can fall asleep to the sound of the ocean, then this is the place for you. There are nearby farms and fruit is available fresh from the stands in the neighborhood. Beaches close by, one you can hike to and usually just you or one or two other people. There were dolphins in the bay when we went. Hard to beat.

What a perfect property if you are looking for seclusion and less “tourist”! The house was perfect for my fiancé and I. Hearing the waves all day and night was spectacular and the property owners were very accommodating and super helpful! So many things to do, just make sure you find the very close, local beach, so pretty!

This is a well maintained house and really great for family vacation. We have family four stary on this good view property for one week and house has everything than I expected. OMG is this house ever in the perfect spot. My wife and I visited Hawaii before but stayed in the resort areas. This was so much more relaxing. House was clean, modern, comfortable, and very well appointed. We shopped at the local grocery 25 minutes away, picked-up fresh fruit at roadside stands, and bought coffee right from the farms and roasters in the area. So serene, peaceful, and quiet. Very quiet, pretty much the only sounds were those of the waves crashing and the occasional birds calling. No traffic, no planes, no loud drunk spring breakers. Sitting in the house and on the back patio we saw so many stars at night and even saw a couple of whales breaching one afternoon as we watched the sunset. Will definitely return here when again on this island.

Beautiful home within feet of the ocean with great views. Dan is knowledgeable of the area with great advise on quite, relaxing areas away from the crowds to spend some of your valuable vacation days. When something unexpected came up he was able to lead us to someone that could help, going that extra step to make sure all our needs was addressed. The home had everything we needed. Whale watching while eating breakfast at the outside table is a definite plus.

Ocean breezes, spray from crashing waves, sunsets on the lanai, shooting stars at night, I love this place. The house is better than described, every ocean facing wall is a sliding glass door with screens. We were outside even when inside. Everything was clean when we got there. The kitchen was well stocked and the living area plenty large. Tables inside and out with plenty of outdoor chairs. Fans in every room made the temperature fine when there was a pause in the breezes. We are already contemplating our next visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Dan's place! A beautifully designed bungalow right on the sea... Waves and sunsets and peace for your soul, and visits from some delightful goats, too! This place is huge! It was very clean and beautiful! The views are phenomenal! This would be a great place to stay if you're planning on staying in your place and enjoying the water, deck and privacy. It has beautiful views and the decks and furniture make it a great place to hang out! It is not in Captain Cook though, it is a 45 minute drive to GET to Captain Cook. It is about 70 minutes to get to Kona. It is 10-15 minutes of hairpin curves going down steep hills, in the dark with unmarked rutted pavement once you leave the “main” road. The main road has nothing on it for miles either. There was no light on when we arrived which made it very difficult to find the right place, and the driveway is literally the size of a car, and at a steep decline, so again, in the dark, it was hard to get parked. There were outside lights on the deck, but we tried every light switch and never found a way to turn them on. There was a room with a couch and a TV, living room with a couch and chair. Full size dining table, full size kitchen with everything you could need! A shelf in the shower would be helpful, it's not comfortable to place all the items on the floor when you're showering. There are a lot more homes there than you see in the photos, it is not alone like it shows. There is also no access to the water from here, the ladder that's pictured is a few houses down and you have to walk on the lava and a sketchy wood “bridge” to get to it. It's in a public area. It was not a good place for us to use as a home base for exploring everyday, it was just too far to drive. It has a very comfortable bed, plenty of pillows/blankets. There was a cooler and ice pack for us to use. There were 3 or 4 fruit stands on the way down to the house that we stopped at daily. The 1st day there, I sustained a fairly substantial injury when I fell on the lava. We had bandaids in our luggage, but no bacitracin. We had to wrap it up with paper towels and electrical tape and make the long journey into Kona to Walmart for some bacitracin, gauze and tape. A small first aid kit would have been great since it's so far to the store. Just enough to last until the next day when we would have been out anyway. Unfortunately, we were there during a storm and we lost power. The power was out when we returned from adventuring and it was pitch black inside the house. I mean, black. We couldn't see anything. We couldn't shower or use the bathroom. We went to bed. When we got up the power was s

Nice house located at the tip of the shore. Great for family with couple kids. Location is a bit far from most attractions but this is exactly what we wanted. The coast is rocky and rough. So the property does not have safe water access. But HOA water access is couple of minutes walk from the house.

Our daughter, son-in-law, and 3 grandchildren live in Milolii, so we have rented many different houses over the years. This is our favorite! There is the obvious benefit of being on the ocean, but it’s all the other things that make for a wonderful stay - comfortable bed, kitchen that has everything you need, and very clean, neat, and updated decor. We plan on staying here again!

We stayed at this rental property for 2 weeks and enjoyed every minute of it. The home is comfortable and has an unbeatable view. We sat out on the patio many mornings and watched dolphins swimming by. We went to sleep every night listening to the ocean right outside the bedroom door. Pretty amazing! My husband spoke to the owners several times and they were always welcoming and friendly with lots of advice on places to go and things to do.. We would highly recommend this rental and will definitely be staying here again should we return to the Big Island in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The drive down from the highway takes about 15 minutes, but didn't bother us. Well stocked. Drinking water spigot in Ocean View is the closest. Only used it once. Shower only, no tub due to stored water being necessary, but pressure was surprisingly good. Hot water is solar water heater, so it can be very hot. No A/C, but if you use the blinds and windows correctly it will be comfortable. The view is fantastic. For those worried about the construction next door, the house is almost complete, but there was no construction going on while we were there. Would definitely recommend. Would absolutely stay here again.

The property was a beautiful piece of paradise, away from the traffic and frenzy of what the tourist hubs Kona and Hilo have become. We will definitely tell our friends about this place and return ourselves. It was hard to leave. The owners are the nicest people and are willing to share their amazing knowledge of the big island. If you get up at sunrise and go for a walk you will find the community to be the friendliest place on earth. The kitchen is stalked with everything you need to cook amazing meals. The snorkeling right next to the house is amazing. Tip, buy groceries on the way in so you don't have to leave.

This is an excellent place to stay. The sunsets are beautiful, the house is just the right size, and the layout makes the most of the seaside location. It also offers a sense of privacy due to the way the house is placed on the lot. We felt like this place was an excellent value . Miloli’i is off the beaten path…but that’s the point. We watched dolphins from our back patio multiple times and even swam with them near the house. The owner, Dan, lives just down the street and is a great guy, obviously proud of the property and he should be.

This is a great little house right on the ocean. The view is incredible! It's too rocky to swim right off the house, but there are a couple of beaches very close by. The owner was incredibly response and helpful with questions we had. The location is only four stars because the house is a bit out of the way in a relatively new development. We loved the location, as it was a great place to unwind after sightseeing or going to the beach. If you want to be in downtown Kona within walking distance to restaurants, town beaches, and sites this is not the place for you. But if you are renting a car and planning to go to different parts of the island, I highly recommend this place.

If you enjoy being off of the beaten path and want to experience authentic Hawaii, you will love this place! While getting to Milolii is somewhat of an adventure, it is well worth it - the solitude and being RIGHT on the ocean's shore is something that can't be beat. Dan was extremely helpful throughout our week's stay. The property is super clean and was perfect for my husband and I and our 9 and 11 year old boys. We watched dolphins swim past the house every day we were there and enjoyed phenomenal sunsets every night. We definitely plan on coming back!

We loved our oceanfront home in Hawaii. My fiancé and I wanted a secluded home away from the hustle and bustle of Kona and that was exactly what we got and more! It was so beautiful and peaceful and the nothing beats waking up to the sound of the ocean! I would highly recommend this home to anyone! Dan was fantastic and made this trip smooth for us! Thank you from Wisconsin!

May 2021
First I will start with the positive - Owners were great and communication with them was always available. Definitely an Ocean front view with water that never ends and beautiful sunsets when clear! House is open and airy, so for the two of us it was all the space we needed - also every room has a ceiling fan which is needed since no AC. Kitchen was stocked pretty well with all utensils, pots and pans, coffee maker, etc., pretty much all is available for cooking and dining. The windy road down to the property wasn't really bad at all as some reviews said, it is just an extra 10 minute drive to the main highway. If you want see and cover the South must dos then stay here for it is close to the Greensand Beach and Black Sand Beach. We found a great local beach about 30 minutes North at Ho‘okena Beach Park with picnic tables in shaded areas, public bathrooms, showers and rinse stations and felt safe there for it was a mix of locals and tourists. Now to some negatives or at least to us - each person's experience is different in what they want, expect, and experience but here were our gripes: 1. We knew it was roughly an hour drive South of Kona, but didn't realize how much you do have to drive to go anywhere - nothing is close by, at least 30 minute drives to anywhere. 2. Didn't feel comfortable getting in the water at the step down the road and the local beach 5 minute drive also did not feel comfortable getting out there for it was very junky and trashy. 3. First thing we noticed when driving up to the house was there was a new house right next door under construction - and has at least 3 months left until finished. They worked M-F usually around 730am and left around 3pm. This was NOT disclosed to us even when I asked, was told nothing was in the next lot - that was what rubbed us the wrong way the most. Also, that took away the privacy of the spot that is closest to the Ocean for sitting and enjoying during the day due to workers, equipment, and music at the site. I will say they were not that loud, but enough to be a distraction at times. 4. Water situation: No drinking water since the water comes from a chlorinated tank. It was fine to shower and brush teeth with but not to drink or even cook with. There were water stations nearby to fill up jugs, but we bought our own bottled water to last us thru the stay to avoid the hassle. 5. Most of the sliding glass doors and screen doors do not work. out of space - that's it

The pictures really don’t do it justice. The view is amazing! There was a lot of very high surf for a few days. Everything really go covered with salt. But Dan was kind enough to wash them off for us so we could once again see out of them. We saw a ton of whales playing & breaching, even babies, right off the patio. I’m in my happy place place each time I visit the island. It really is in the middle of no where (takes about 15 minutes just to get down the road!). So be sure to plan ahead & stock up. There really is no just running out to grab something quick. Be sure to go to the beach at the end of the road. We wouldn’t have known about it had Dan not told us.

This is a great property for a family or a couple. We chose this for the location (ocean side), not too close to the city and the previous reviews. No disappointment at all ! To be able to have the sound and view of the ocean with the windows is priceless. Quiet, yet friendly neighborhood with great snorkeling steps away. We snorkeled every day and watched the sun rises and sets from the lanai. Our last day we viewed a whale breach and dolphins in the bay. The directions and communication between Dan and Mindy were spot on. We stocked up prior to arrival at a store and got a heads up on the remote, winding road down to Milolii Village. The fruit stands on the side of the road were great and the spacious kitchen was put to use making homemade guacamole and fruit smoothies. Mahalo !!

After spending a busy week on Maui this is just what we needed. Quiet and well out of the tourist area. The snorkeling in the bay was great. Dan was great to work with. Pictures don’t do this place justice. The location is SO pretty. The house isn’t fancy, but it’s well done. There are sliding glass doors on the ocean side with screens, which allow a nice breeze when open, along with lots of fans. The best part is the master bedroom and waking up each morning to the ocean right in front of you. The bed is comfy, too. This is secluded, and it’s about a 15 drive on a windy road down the hillside. I liked the drive because it goes through a jungle of flower and fruit trees, but my husband hated it. It opens up to a nice view. You are about an hour from any kind of grocery store, so shop once your flight lands. There are no close neighbors, so there is privacy. We met a few down the street, and they were very nice. The owner is very responsive, and took care of us quickly when we locked ourselves out. He also suggested some nearby things to do. Water conservation is a must. These homes have chlorinated water storage tanks, and water is brought back in by truck. You won’t want to drink it. We were provided with several pitchers of cold drinking water in the refrigerator on our arrival, which was very nice. Be careful about inside lights at night. Bugs do manage to get in around the edges of the screens. They can be a little annoying. The unit is well stocked, other than we had to go buy an ice chest for our daily expeditions. The owner says he no longer provides one because they get taken or broken. My suggestion is to charge a bigger deposit that covers a decent ice chest. We ended up having to pay luggage fees for one we had to purchase. The snorkeling near the house was a challenge. Entry is not near as easy as it appears, and it is for advanced snorkelers. We went in once and didn’t see that much. Two step is not far up the road and is a much better spot with easier entry. The only real problem we had here was our encounter with the housekeeper as we were leaving. We attempt to leave places very close to as clean as we found them. She arrived a little early. Our suitcases were packed and at the door, and we we sweeping, washing the unit’s towels, and refilling water jugs just to be nice. She immediately and very inappropriately started yelling “get out” and “go back to the mainland”. We were on the road by 11:05 but didn’t do our final walk through because of her, and left some things, including my credit card. The owner apologized for her behavior.

We enjoyed our week at this unique property!! Though the nice house with its many sliding doors and windows is bright and airy, the spectacular view and sound of the mighty ocean is breathtaking! One bright sunny day we tossed out our plans for the day so we could simply enjoy watching the ocean's "show". It was AMAZING! The night sky was fascinating and fantastic too. On the business side, owner Dan was very easy to communicate and work with. We appreciated his attention to details and he was helpful and informative. He even called us from town to let us know there was a local flea and farmer's market that morning, which turned out to be fun.

Beautiful view of the ocean from every room! You're close enough to the ocean to hear the waves at night. The place was really clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again. There is ocean access and the neighborhood is quiet. its a good place to escape the crowds of tourists.

Well worth the time to travel and relax at this wonderful home. It was fantastic. Dan ensured we had everything we needed at the house and went over and above providing us with ideas and activities to make our stay great. We would return with out question. Thank you

The house was in a great location. The view is spectacular! You wake up and see the beautiful ocean every morning. Everything was fabulous! It was great cooking our own food which saved us money. We loved being able to wash our clothes before going home. The neighborhood was so quiet and isolated. We would come back and stay here again. We hated to leave!

The best thing is sitting out back by the cliff. Absolutely stunning. House is clean and well equipped. The owner is responsive and very easy to work with. Love the off the beaten path location.

first and foremost this house is so close to the water the ocean spray actually collects on the screen doors in the evening. The only sounds in the evening are the waves crashing on the rocks. clear nights are a show all their own the stars are vibrant and endless. my thanks to the owners for allowing me and my wife this opportunity to relax and enjoy this home. Alot is said about the road to Milolii I believe it is over exaggerated. Use common sense stay on your side of the road and you will have no problem.

The house was simply amazing, right on the water and you are able to hear the ocean all day & night long! There is an access point to some of the best snorkeling on the island, about a 2 minute walk away. You can climb on the rocks to get a better view of the view but would not suggest entering the water this way. The house is clean with everything you will need to make your stay as comfy as possible
