FYI: when inquiring about availability and you haven't purchased air tickets yet (you just want to know what I have available): don't put any dates in, then click on: "Ask Owner a Question". I will answer you right away and let you know what is available for your window of time. ALSO: please do not make a reservation request and put in your credit card number (just because the calendar appears to be open), before contacting me about your desired dates. Occasionally the calendar is incorrect (human or software errors). Let me know ahead of time your dates, and I will make sure that I give you the most up-to-date info about availability. I try very hard to answer within 2 hours or less.

Welcome to the description of Tutu's Cottage! If you are reading my page, you have already seen others and all the wonderful things that other owners have said about Hanalei. Just in case you have clicked on my first, here is a quick run down about Hanalei:

- National Geographic Traveler Magazine has named Kauai one of 21 "Best of the World" must see destinations for 2017, making it one of only three U.S. locations on the list.

- quote from the travel book: '1000 PLACES TO SEE BEFORE YOU DIE' BY PATRICIA SCHULTZ 'The island's beauty peaks at the north shore, possibly the most beautiful
spot in all of Hawaii.'

- Hanalei Bay beach was ranked #1 on the 2009 list of top 10 beaches in the nation

- Hanalei Bay was rated one of the top 5 beaches in America by National Geographic Travelers

- Golf Digest named the Price Golf Course in Princeville (3 miles from Hanalei) as Hawaii's #1 golf course

- spectacular volcanic mountains surround Hanalei and often times have 3000+ ft. long waterfalls on them

- Hanalei Bay is the exact spot where Mitzi Gaynor washed him right out of her hair in the 1957 movie South Pacific, and also the fairy-tale home, where Puff the Magic Dragon frolicked in the autumn mists (Peter,Paul and Mary Song)

- The best thing about Hanalei is that there are no hotels, no condos, and very few sidewalks because it is so rural; looks like a cute little surfing town out of the 60's.

- The famous Napali Coast hiking trail is just 7 miles from Hanalei, recommended hike by the Sierra Club

NOW ABOUT OUR CUTE, COZY, LITTLE COTTAGE:

The 'downtown' area of Hanalei is about 2 blocks from the beach, and we are located about half way between, so you can walk to the beach in 5 minutes (the Pavilon), town is 5 minutes. If you know where the pier is, we are a 10 minute walk there. In town are several small family owned restaurants, a pizza place, burger place, all causal and quaint, a few shops, a grocery store and a a well stocked health food market (not cheap but you have to remember that you are at the 'end of the world' out here in Hanalei).

We have a well equipped little kitchen in the house and a BBQ in the backyard. A fish market is within walking distance for those of you who love fresh fish, or just bring something home from one of the eateries and eat on one of the two lanais at the house. The back lanai is actually very special, has an unobstructed view of the Hanalei mountains and the 3000 ft. waterfalls that come down from the top if it has rained the night before. The yard is very private, as there are no neighbors behind us, only a grassy meadow, trees and an occasion horse tied up.

Our house is extremely clean, as I have the best cleaning lady on the island; we have hardwood floors, granite kitchen counter tops and bath vanity, new maple cabinets as the house had a major remodel in late 2007. There are usually Meyer's lemons all year round on the lemon tree in the front yard, so grab a few and make yourself some fresh squeezed lemonade, throw a little rum in it for fun! Like palm trees? Lots of palms in the front yard. Like waterfalls? The mountains, which are visible from the back lanai, often times have several on them, dropping spectacularly over 2000 ft.

Best looking house on the block and the best price plus our out-cleaning fee is a low ($200).

*** PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING THE 3% CREDIT CARD PROCESSING FEE (5% for International credit cards). This fee will be requested after your last rent payment is made.
