The great room offers you plenty of room to relax while watching meals being prepared, dine, blend up some smoothies at the entertainers' bar all while enjoying the company of friends and family in this large open area. The gourmet kitchen is equipped with everything you need. There is also a zen courtyard just off the dining area. Enjoy ocean view alfresco dining on your expansive lanai after preparing a meal of island fresh caught fish on the large BBQ. The whale watching is incredible during whale season from "Mango Sunsets".
Spacious dual primary suites offer plenty of room to relax and gaze at the endless views of the ocean, mountains and tropical gardens. Each has a private lanai to watch the sunset or enjoy a cup of Kona coffee as you plan your day of adventure. The King beds are very comfortable and the rooms enjoy a tropical breeze for your dreamy nights or afternoon naps. The second Primary suite also has a full size sofa bed for additional guests to sleep. Both have en-suite bathrooms and one offers a spa-like primary bath which has a large soaking tub, dual shower heads and decorative marble inlays.
This home offers a great deal of privacy and is located in a secluded gated community. End-to-end storybook windows bring the outside in. There is also an office/den to sleep additional guests and an additional full size bathroom with a shower. High-end finishes include: mahogany cabinets, doors and trim; travertine flooring; granite; AC in the primary bedroom and office/den; double-sided fireplace; sky lights and vaulted ceilings.
The home's exterior features include: a heated saline (salt water chlorination) pool and Jacuzzi; dining and conversation areas; a spacious poolside patio for entertaining; lanais off of both primary suites; an outdoor shower; and a gated, tree-lined arrival experience leading to a circular drive.
"Mango Sunsets" is located just north of two of the island's best beaches, Hapuna and Mauna Kea. There you can also enjoy world famous golf courses, tennis and oceanfront fine dining. Mauna Lani and Waikoloa resorts are located 5 minutes south of there offering more white sandy beaches, shopping, golf and dining. We also supply plenty of beach equipment so you can explore a new beach each day. Wifi is complimentary throughout the home if you need to keep in touch with family or watch movies from your i-pad. Our Smart TV's offer plenty of choices for your entertainment when you are not exploring the island.
Kawaihae Harbor, which is a few minutes away, offers multiple dining opportunities including a local Tiki bar perfect for happy hour. There is a fresh fish market, fantastic burger joint, Italian cuisine and a fine dining venue with live music. You can depart on a dive, snorkel, sport fishing or whale watch adventure with some wonderful local operators here. The sweet little towns of Hawi and Kapa'au are 15 minutes north of us. This is an artist community with great shops and quaint eateries. At the end of the road just past this is the famous Pololu Valley, which you can hike down enjoying spectacular coastline views and a black sand beach. Waimea is a short 20 minute drive where you can enjoy local farmers markets, shopping, a local brewhaus, dining and home of the famous Parker Ranch.

First the history....my mother passed over the summer (unexpected). My daughters and granddaughter were quite close to her. My husband and I lived only around the corner from her and Christmas was always her holiday.
Immediately after her death, my daughters immediately asked that we NOT be home for Christmas. Little did I know, that we would spend it quite so far away from home (Tampa, Fl). At the age of 63, never have I not been home at Christmas.
There was much discussion as where to go and where to stay. I insisted on sunshine and a home with a pool.
This home/property offered us both and a gorgeous view in addition.
From the time we reserved the home to the time we arrived, all was as marketed. Upon arrival, we were quite pleased that it all was as marketed and shown. The view was the view - the home was the home.
The house was perfect, great size - big enough but didn't feel too big. We had our two daughters and one granddaughter with us. Due to the holidays and our love of cooking, we truly used the kitchen which was very nicely supplied with baking dishes, pots and pans, and etc. The only possible suggestion for the home - addition of blinds of some sort in the living room to pull down during the afternoon sun, as that room does get quite warm in the mid to late afternoon.
The pool and the hot tub was beautiful, well maintained, and kept clean. The yard and patio were perfectly maintained, clean, and felt like home. We had interaction with the landscaping team and they were quite friendly. We also used the housekeeping service which was prompt and did an excellent job.
In addition, due to the holidays, the property management worked with us in permitting a local florist to enter and put up and decorate a Christmas tree for us prior to our arrival. It was perfect and we greatly appreciate her willingness to make this work.
While there, the Big Island experienced a ONE day severe storm and the property manager even reached out to check on us that day.
Beginning the holiday season as what was expected to be a tough one due to our loss ended up being one of the most beautiful Christmas seasons we have experienced. Our entire family fell in love with the Big Island, our temporary home, and the surrounding area. We were quite pleased and happy. As I have told those checking on us.......great decision to spend our Christmas here in this home on this island in '22.

We stayed at this house for 31 days and it was wonderful. The views amazed me every day. Never gets old looking out your window at the Kona/Kohala Coast. The pool was perfect, we were in it everyday. The property manager was terrific.
It's far from town(s) which was perfect for us. We love our privacy and quite time. Enjoyed by all!

The property is beautiful, the views stunning. The pool provided endless of hours of entertainment for the kids (the abundance of towels was much appreciated!). It's a remote setting, but we didn't mind that in the least, and would definitely go back!

We stayed at this property for over 1 week and it felt like home. We had an amazing time here. The directions to the property were easy to understand and accurate. We had no issues getting into the house and everything worked. We loved that they had a large number of beach towels for the pool which was great. We never felt like we only had one to use which was great. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The windows opened up all over the house and we had a great breeze. We highly recommend staying here. The amenities were plentiful and perfect. This location was perfect for us. Thank you for a great space to making wonderful and lasting memories.

The property was even better than I expected it to be...very clean, amazing views, well-maintained. We enjoyed using the pool and hot tub almost every day we were there. The bedrooms are huge and the extra bed in the den is a good option if you're traveling with kids. It was truly paradise for our crew!
The town of Waimea is only about a 25 minute drive from the property, and they have plenty of restaurants and shops to choose from. There are also a few local restaurants just about a 7 minute drive away...I'd recommend Kohala Burger & Taco. We also found a great beach with some snorkeling that was about a 12 minute drive.
Overall, a trip of a lifetime and a truly unforgettable property!!!

A fantastic property with absolutely stunning 180+ degree views from sunrise to sunset!!! We rented this property for a family vacation over the Christmas/New Year's holiday period and it exceeded expectations. It is located in a quiet, relaxing area - if you and your family are looking for a truly relaxing vacation, this was it. The properties at Kohala Ranch are spaced far apart so the only sounds you can hear are the birds in the morning and the occasion moos of the cows roaming the ranch! The property manager was very helpful before we arrived to Kohala Ranch and the house was immaculate. Every room and bedroom offer magnificent ocean views. The two master suites are on opposite sides of the house so there is plenty of privacy inside. The whole house is exceptionally comfortable - between the house, pool and the views, we found it difficult to want to get out every day! The home reference binder was also very helpful and the property manager was very responsive when we had some minor questions upon arrival. One of her suggested day trips (to Volcanoes National Park) was terrific, providing some nice stops along the way to really experience the culture. We THOROUGHLY enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning!!!!
