This condo exceeded our expectations! Clean, nicely furnished, great kitchen, and fabulous location. Has everything needed to enjoy relaxing on the beach (chairs, umbrella, towels, cooler). The resort is beautiful with great pools and plenty of lounge chairs. Walked to the food trucks and very short drive to the grocery store.Easy process to access the room, we did valet parking which was quick and easy, and excellent communication with the host. Would not hesitate to stay here again!

We loved our stay at this comfortable & clean condo in an excellent location in Maui. Far enough from the touristy area of Kaanapali beach but close to everything we needed. Walk to restaurants, grocery and other stores.
Good layout with comfy bed, large bathroom, great kitchen (maybe add a Keurig, salt/pepper, sugar). Nice to “come home to” after hikes, beach walks, etc. Appreciated the snacks and coffee!

The condo has everything we needed and more for a fantastic Maui vacation. It is clean, well furnished, and very comfortable, especially the bed. We appreciated having beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, and beach bag readily available for trips to the beach. You don’t have to go far for a great snorkeling, swimming and sunbathing beach, just steps away from the resort. The view from the balcony was great—mountain and ocean views. Duke’s is a good restaurant and the little shop has snacks, drinks and treats. The grocery store is in walking distance and it was nice to have a kitchen to cook in. We will definitely be back!

Overall is was a good rental. We didn’t have enough laundry pods or dishwasher pods. Also, there was no basic cleaning supplies. We tried messaging the property manager but they never responded. The resort will not help you because it is a private rental.

We found Honua Kai through several recommendations from Facebook groups. We specifically chose this unit based on all the availabilities and pricing on Vrbo. We really liked how the unit looked and the amenities that were included. Check in was easy and accurate to the directions sent to us. We just checked in with the bell desk and utilized a code to enter our unit. Unit looked clean and as pictured on listing. We did have an issue with the toilet but it was resolved by the following day when we brought it up with the property manager. Communication was fairly easy via messaging. She responded in a timely manner. We also noted that part of the screen for the lanai was broken and brought this up to the manager. Unfortunately this was not fixed during our stay. Bedroom mattress and pillows were very comfortable, however sofa mattress was not. Would recommend for any future guests to consider getting a mattress topper for added comfort. We really liked that there was a washer and dryer as it helped with laundry. We also liked how there was a cabana and umbrella for use for the beach. We left behind sand toys for future guests as we were very grateful for those who left behind these beach items. Check out process was also easy by just entering a code on the door keypad. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!

The unit itself is beautiful, spacious, and clean—it’s your typical Honua Kai unit. My husband and I love Honua Kai and have always stayed at this resort the last 10 years while in Maui.
What I didn’t like about the unit and its management company is that there’s no flexibility with early check-in. We arrived at OGG early and in our car rental by 11 am. I called the management company, Epic Realty, a few days before the trip and was told that based on cleaning schedule they simply cannot accommodate early check-in. However, I also know the unit was available the day before since I almost shifted our arrival date one day earlier but with work and current home remodel, I couldn’t make it work. So the excuse of cleaning schedule when the unit was not occupied the day before, didn’t make sense. The rep I spoke to on the phone suggested I call upon arrival at OGG to see if an early check-in was possible, which I did. The rep I spoke on our arrival date (Lori, I believe, is her name) said my request could not be accommodated because of Covid. I mentioned that we are near the end of the pandemic to the point that Covid requirements have been lifted in the state of Hawaii. And then she used the “cleaning schedule” excuse, though she mentioned that in the 6 months she’s worked at Epic Realty, no early check-in requests have ever been approved. So I concluded that such a request is never accommodated and dealing with Epic Realty was in contrary to the aloha spirit. We were forced to roam the island with a young child and luggage in tow for 6 hours. And when we finally arrived at the resort for our 4 pm check-in, the resort staff said that the unit was reserved under a different name. I had to call Epic Realty again to straighten the issue. Suffice to say, it was the most difficult check-in process I’ve ever experienced.
We’ve stayed at Honua Kai many times and have booked with owners directly, another property management company, and also Honua Kai directly. Flying from California, we have always taken the first flight out with an arrival at OGG by 10:30 am. In our prior dealings, our requests for early check-in have always been accommodated.
The unit also does not have any beach chairs so we ended up renting the chairs from a place across the street. The unit also does not have large bowls but we improvised using the stainless steel pots.
Would I rent this unit again? Probably not.

Stayed at this property and was overall very happy with the location, accommodations, and cleanliness. Perfect size for a family of 4. Enjoyed the pools, water slides, Duke’s restaurant and beach. Parking was easy and convenient. And the kitchen was a plus for the lazy mornings for an easy breakfast! Would stay here again 😊

The property was exactly as pictured. Check in process was very simple and extremely fast. Food options near the resort felt a little limited there was a cute cafe and then dukes. Both were amazing but we just had come from two other resorts that had many more amenities so we were used to that which is not the fault of the property. Our family of 4 would probably not stay at this resort again but it was lovely just not a fit for us personally. Everything was exactly as pictured and the property manager was great w communication.

The check-in process was very easy. The emails and all the instructions prior to arrival were very helpful. The unit is cozy and cute. The full kitchen and the washer & dryer were great. I read in some other reviews people complaining about not having enough towels. I found plenty of towels in the unit and there was a dryer to help speed up the drying process if needed. The bed was very comfortable. The balcony view of the beach is from a side angle and partially obscured by trees. At the time of our visit, there was a beach shade, a cooler, and snorkeling fins at the unit. We added a kids beach bucket/shovel set to the mix for others to use. We found that the bathroom sinks were not properly cleaned. I found beard hair on the counter (like the kind left behind after shaving). I decided it would be faster if I just cleaned it with the lysol wipes that we had. But it should not have been there to begin with. We did not experience any pest issues in the kitchen as we kept it clean. However my husband saw a small roach crawl out of the shower drain. It is my understanding that the resort has a roach problem but we did not have any major issues that would interfere with our stay. The resort itself is beautiful!! We rented a cabana in advance and made our dinner reservations in advance as well, so we had a very comfortable stay.

Traveled there for the first time with a 12 yr old and a 9 yr old boys. Pools were wonderfully set up to keep kids safe but fun. Always found a chair..Beach was amazing. Recommend bringing your own snorkel gear. Beautiful room; construction was on going but noise was no problem and with two boys it was fun watching the big trucks. Loved our stay!

We stayed in Honua Kai 316 (Hokulani) for 3 weeks in February 2015. Overall, we really enjoyed the stay. Only criticism is the unit faces south onto a vacant property, so not much of an "oceanfront view" as advertised. Also, that vacant lot is now under construction, so we experienced construction noise and dust through each week. Otherwise, a beautiful unit, resort and location on Kaanapali Beach.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Honua Kai.The condo was beautifully furnished, very comfortable, clean and we appreciated the supply of beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, cooler, etc. The resort grounds are lovely and very clean. The beach in front of the resort is gorgeous, a great place to relax, swim, watch the whales jump, and see the turtles. It was convenient to have a full grocery store just a short walk from the condo. It is a short drive to Lahaina for shopping, dining, souvenirs, boat cruises etc.Only one small concern, construction is just starting on the property next to the Honua Kai,our balcony looked over the construction site and during the weekdays there were some trucks working. It wasn't really an issue for us, we were out of the condo any time the work was being done. We are already planning to go back next year. The location and amenities are fantastic!

Great location, beautiful property but bewarned it is right across from the sewage treatment facility. There were 3 burned out lightbulbs in the unit we were in and after several requests to fix it nothing was ever done. It made getting ready difficult with how dark the bathroom was. Also we never had anybody clean our room the entire time we were there. I would suggest booking direct through Honua Kai where you get follow through and room cleaning every other day.

The rental property was excellent. The unit was well-maintained, and the Honua Kai is wonderful. We spent a ton of time enjoying the beach and the gorgeous views of Molokai and Lanai. The view from the balcony isn't the greatest because of the construction next door, but having the balcony is a huge plus and you can see the ocean from it as well as the mountain. The doors to the balcony also open completely giving a nice indoor/outdoor feel to the unit. I highly recommend staying here!

We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the condo. We especially like the pools and Duke's Restaurant at the resort. I would say the fabrics on the couch, chairs, pillows, etc need am updating. They look worn in places and could use a good cleaning. The kitchen was perfect and we liked the large bathroom. The condo was smaller than many at Honua Kai and it set back from the ocean. We stayed at H K three years ago in a larger one bedroom with a much better view. So even though these were mostly minor issues, we will need a bigger place next year - especially is we bring more family. Thank you for your consideration.

Great savings booking through VRBO. The condo is very nice and roomy. Morning coffee on the lanai was spectacular with either views of the mountain or ocean. The mattress is very soft, this may be an issue for anyone who needs a firm mattress.

Lovely property however not well maintained; fitness center never had towels and was frequently out of cups for water machine. Supposed to wear masks inside in Hawaii, yet few people wore in fitness center and security did not check very often. Condo was much smaller than appeared in photos; also, lanais were being painted and the equipment was noisy and detracted from our view of ocean.

The condo was clean and modern. The facilities were excellent ~ beautiful property with great pools. The location was great. Only downside was that the condo lacked certain basic kitchen utensils...there was no oven mitts, only 3 cereal bowls, limited mixing bowls, etc. If you have 4 people (which we did) there is definitely a shortage of plates, bowls, forks, etc.

We absolutely loved staying in this condo. It was beautiful, clean and had extras for us to use while on the trip. There was a cooler, 2 Beach chairs, boogie board, snorkeling fins and floaties for little kids. It was so nice to not have to pack that gear for our trip. We used the bedroom and then had the kids sleep on the pull out couch in the living room. It was spacious and perfect for our family. The lanai had a partial ocean view which was nice. Any time I had a question or needed assistance, the management team was prompt, kind and extremely helpful. Washer and dryer was a life saver for me and the large bathroom was a great feature. We would 100% stay there again and quickly recommend to anyone!

This place was amazing! We took our 2 yr old to Maui for the first time and I'm so glad we chose to stay here. It's family oriented and she loved the pool here. The beach was minutes away by feet so it made it so convenient! As for the condo, it's just as it looks in pictures. Big enough for our 2 yr old to run around. Thank you for an amazing stay! We definitely will stay here again next time we visit Maui! Mahalo!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this property and my communication with Kim. We originally booked this property in January of 2020 for our dream vacation set in June. Kim was fantastic in communicating with me and being so flexible and understanding when we had to cancel due to the COVID restrictions. We rebooked right away for June 2021, without looking at any other locations/units because of how amazing she was throughout this unprecedented time. She made the process so smooth, so when we finally arrived on our dream family vacation, we were thrilled to see that everything was as she said it would be. The accommodations were impeccable! I felt like I was at home - we fit our family of 4 (2 teenagers), just fine…Kim even made sure we had an air mattress so my teens didn’t have to share the pull out! The resort was beautiful and having Duke’s on the premises was an added bonus! This was definitely a family friendly resort and I would recommend a stay here to anyone! Mahalo for providing such a great experience for my family! Aloha!

The property overall was excellent. The condo has been updated and the look and feel was modern. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies. Ample bedding and towels for our 10 day stay. Also nice extras such as a cooler was available.
We arrived right prior too and over the chaos of the Covid19 outbreak.
