I am not one to leave negative reviews, but I am sorry to say I would not recommend this VRBO. For this property the cons simply outweigh the pros. PROS - the location is great. It’s close to the beach & on the same street as food trucks. CONS - The pictures of the apartment make it appear bright & clean, but unfortunately I found the apartment to be dingy. I chose the apartment because of the note that it is “professionally sanitized,” but there were scuff marks and dirt all along the walls & baseboards. The bathroom left much to be desired. Some of the window blinds were broken & there were ants crawling out of the AC unit. Security of the apartment was a concern. We were provided fobs to access the front gate, but we often found the gate propped open. We loved staying on the street with the food vendors, but this causes a lot of foot traffic & some unsavory folks hanging around. Despite repeatedly closing the gate, I would find it open again. My biggest complaint was getting locked out on the back porch. I stayed at this VRBO to get ready for my wedding. The night of my wedding, my husband and I went on the back porch & when I closed the door (no screen) it locked automatically and we were trapped. Fortunately, a friend was able to rescue us but after about an hour. We missed plans on our wedding night because of this. I contacted the owners to let them know of this issue & how upset I was. The response did not put me ease it was generic and didn’t address the issue.

This was our first time In Honolulu. We are not “city people” so the crowds and environment were a bit much for me. However, the condo was relatively quiet and felt safe, especially since it had gated access. Just about anything you needed could be found within walking distance, which is good because Honolulu traffic is HORRENDOUS- and since I am from NJ that’s really saying something!!

Property needs a major overhaul in terms of electrical . We were not able to use microwave & watch TV at same time without tripping the circuit breaker. Sink in bathroom was not properly caulked to prevent water from running along back flash. I would stay again because of location and it was clean.

Construction was happening on the balcony over and above our unit during our stay, woke up to jackhammering and sawing every morning at 8:30am. If you are looking for a peaceful stay…..do not stay here. It’s very loud with a bar right behind the property & drunk people yelling and screaming all night. The property was clean as described, but hot water did not last long at all. The second night we had a bit more hot water then the first night but then it went back to hot water for less then five mins in the shower. Let the owners know & no response about it. We couldn’t use the parking stall for two days due to plumbing issues in the building. The owner took a while to get back to us and told us to go pay for parking elsewhere. The title of the add was free parking. We found the communication from the owner to be lacking. If you don’t mind loud noises, drunk neighbours, construction, and very short showers this is a great place. Well appointed little kitchen and the AC and Celine fan were great! We wouldn’t consider staying here again due to the lack of communication, but it is well priced for what you get!!!

Ifyou look at my history you know I enjoy staying at that location! But this time not so much!Place had dirt on patio,under sofa, saw a couple roachs,could not open or lock patio door. Rington saved my trip! Items in place were broken, No instruction book on TV.. Parking lot is a mess! 2 cars in one spot! a 3/4 ton truck in space behind me. Needs inspection after the cleaning crew is there!Was not ready to rent!A quick inspection and all could have been avoided! It should not cost customers their vacation time to get repairs done!Put the intro binders back in room so people don't have to spend hours to figure out the cable Tv system!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Waikiki Cabanas. It was the perfect spot with easy access to the beach and all Waikiki has to offer. We did text the contact number when we were there and had issues with the sliding door and key fob but received no response. Would have appreciated my message be returned.

Overall we had a great time in Hawaii. Loved the free parking and private gate. The check in was easy but it’s close to beach so there’s a lot of traffic (obviously). The only think I disliked about the place is that I’m not sure if it was the former tenants who attracted the fruit flies but we had a few fruit flies when we got into our place. I don’t like bugs or worrying about bugs infesting places. But in general we thought the place was perfect for the 2 of us and we slept extremely well. We would totally come back and stay here.

I would suggest a booklet telling how things work like the tv. cable box. I know that the shower thing has a picture in the bathroom but did not see it. So have that in the book. For two days we didn't go out to eat so went to use the microwave and the power strip blew several times trying to warm something up. Too many on one power strip, maybe a chair in the living room, we took one of the chairs off of the patio to sit in to use.

The property was nice and close to the beach and shopping. The bed was nice, but the hide-a-bed is probably better for children, rather than adults. The neighborhood was noisy while we were there. We really appreciated the included parking. Check-in and check-out were very easy. Unit had air conditioning, in addition to ceiling fans. It was nice that they offer to take your left over food to the community food places to share with those in need.

This condo was perfect for our family of 3. The free parking and kitchenette with stove and refrigerator were great for our vacation on a budget. We were able to make breakfasts there, while we ate out and explored the island for the rest of our meals. The parking space is small. So consider that if choosing a rental vehicle. The condo itself isn't super modern, but it was clean and comfortable. Loved that the location is tucked away, but still within walking distance to most things in Waikiki. Plus the food trucks outside were really good for a quick bite! The rental company was quick to respond and gave good instructions for check in/check out. Would stay there again.

Very close to the zoo and the beach. Area was safe and had food trucks right outside the gate. It was a bit loud in the evening but I didn’t mind too much since this a place for fun and vacationing. The coin washer/dryer worked fine. I was able to get quarters and laundry soap at the ABC around the corner. There was easy access in and out with they key fobs. Didn’t use the sleeper sofa, but if a small family or friend group stayed here, I could see it working out.

Loved how close this place was to everything downtown. PLUS the free gated parking was an absolute bonus as parking can be difficult and expensive in this area.
It was great that they had a fully stocked kitchen which made coffe and breakfast nice. They also have other amenities such as a beach chair, umbrella, boogie boards, stroller, iron and table and so much more!
When we needed a new lighbulb the property manager was over by the next day which was fantastic.

It was great that the condo was really close to the beach. The worst part of this rental was that it didn't include parking, it was $15 or more a day. It's not really worth staying here if you have a car rental. Overall, my kids and I had a decent stay.

The property was exactly what I expected but I was most impressed by the location. The kitchen was well equipped and the unit was very comfortable. My only concern was that I thought the floor was not cleaned well and that the couch was sandy. Laminate floors can look dirty even when clean. However I would rent this property again.

The location was great, about one block to the beach. The condo was exactly as pictured and very clean, with a variety of dishes, microwave, blender (everything that you would need, very well thought out). We felt very safe in the area, not much of a view but the balcony was nice to relax in the morning. We never used the laundry facilities. Overall, we loved the condo and would recommend to family and friends.

We had a family member in hospital and were counting on reliable phone service but did not get it. The rental company e us a burner phone that kept running out of money and we did not use it frequently. The carpets were filthy and one we got permission to throw out. The second one under the bed was filthy and nothing was done about it. I very much doubt the owner had any intention whatever of fixing the phone or dealing with the carpets. Next door to 2 youth hostels and they were very noisy all night on ocassions.

The location of the Cabana to Kuhio and Waikiki beaches, Honolulu Zoo, shops, restaurants, convenience stores, and bus stops was perfect. The condo unit was cozy and comfy for our family of four. The kitchen was well equipped with pots, pans, dishware, glassware, and eating utensils. A pitcher or container would be nice to mix juice or iced tea. My only complaint was too much kitchenware that there was very little cabinet space as a food pantry to store our groceries. The parking space price of $15 per day was very reasonable for the Waikiki area; however, reserve a parking space early as there are limited spaces. We stayed at the Cabana Unit #204 for one week (7 nights) and paid the weekly rental rate. Even with the cleaning fee, our condo rental costs were considerably less than one of the nearby hotels and we had a full-size kitchen to save additional monies to prepare meals and store our left-overs. During the booking process, questions prior to check-in, check-in, and during our stay, the Ali'i Beach Rental staff (Gabi, Rita, Chloe, Suzie, and Lehua) were friendly, courteous, professional, replied promptly, and were wonderful to work with. The Ali'i Beach Rental app made the check-in process easy and provided great information about Honolulu and Oahu. Lastly, with security gates for the parking area and stairs, the Cabana was secure. Have you considered installing a safe in the unit(s)? Thank you for our fantastic stay in Hawaii. We look forward to our next stay at the Cabana.

The process was efficient, I really liked the phone app that had all of the information I needed throughout my stay. The location was great, the room clean and well stocked with things I would need. I had to add my luggage and trip to the grocery store and I was set. Only a couple blocks from the beach, was great!I had need of assistance while on the my stay and received prompt and courteous service. I would book with Alii again and will be recommending them to my friends.

The condo was very well equipped and really provided everything you might have in your own home.My only complaint was the lack of seating for eating purposes.the condo is equipped for 2 but sleeps 4?When I requested additional chairs for aHi-top Dining table I was told to take the chairs from the bistro set outside ont he balcony.Seriously?For the price we paid, Towels should be changed every 3rd or 4th day.Would you shower with the same towel for 8 days?We requested a late checkout as we were traveling on a Red Eye back home but were forced to pay for a full day extra in order to stay an extra 10 hours.I would rent from Alii Beach Rentals again but maybe not at Cabana at Waikiki although I did like the location.

From the photo, we thought there was a sliding screen between the rooms, however it didn't matter to us. It was odd sitting on the couch seeing too much through the glass block wall (but not x-rated) of someone taking a shower. How about installing a sliding screen that could separate the rooms and , in open position, obscure the view of the shower? Also, there was only one chair in the kitchen area.Otherwise, everything was great. Nice large, thick towels. Plenty of basic supplies (tp, garbage bags, etc)and extras (cooler, beach chairs,boogie boards). We loved the location. Great for early morning swims at Sans Souci beach.

Overall we really enjoyed the room and our stay. The room was very clean and neat. The appliances were great to have available. It got a bit noisy outside but quieted down pretty quickly. What a great location! It was close to beach and stores. The only downside was that the carpet under the endtable was dirty or stained however other than that overall it was a great place and we would love to come back. Loved the style of the room.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Waikiki Cabana! The location was amazing and it had everything you would need to enjoy your stay. There was even a blender to make your own beverages and take in a cooler and the cooler was even located on the back porch! Very quiet too! There's a Food Pantry within 6block walking distance and a city bus stop for $2.50 to any location. We took this to Pearl Harbor at 7am and it took an hour but only cost us $2.50 there and $2.50 back which was a great deal. Versus a can ride, car rental or the trolly the city pushes on you to get. We loved this cabana and will definitely recommend to family and friends and return! Thank you

Small, older rental building. Unit was clean and well equipped. We enjoyed the location being a few short blocks to the beach. Also enjoyed an evening of music at the zoo a couple blocks away. Only downside, if you are renting a car be sure to reserve parking in advance, don't wait.

We had a lovely five week stay at Cabana Waikiki. The suite mates was as shown in pictures. We found it neat and well equipped. There was a surplus of dishes in cupboards which left minimal room for our groceries storage. We would have liked more storage for our clothing as well. We appreciated that there were beach chairs there for us. The location was great. Very close to beach and waikiki's strip but provided us with a quiet retreat in evenings. If we were to make suggestions for improvements we would suggest a more secure lock on sliding Lanai door ( my husband had to tighten the screws daily to keep lock attached to the door) and we found a futon couch very uncomfortable to sit on. Our neighbours had a sofa bed in their suite and it was a much better option. Overall we were very happy with our stay.

Accommodation is exactly how the photos shows. There were three of us. Plenty of room. Great location. Close to where all the tours pick up. Just around corner. Great place for a car last exit off freeway, so didn't have to drive through traffic in waikiki.

We stayed at the Cabana at Waikiki in August 2015 and it was enough for three people (2 adults, one child). The place was clean when we arrived. There were plenty of other towels in the closet - including beach towels which we did use. The shower curtain lining and a couple of the towels should be replaced because they looked worn. Because this condo is typical of Hawaii (or the South or any tropical location) with Jalousie windows (think louvers but made of glass), it is not soundproof. Since the condo is located in Waikiki which is busy, you can hear a little street traffic, people talking in the street late at night and the garbage trucks and landscapers in the AM. So if you're a light sleeper, it's best to bring ear plugs. We also made use of the kitchen so we didn't have to eat out all the time. Overall, the accommodations were nice especially for the value - a lot cheaper than spending $200+/night in a hotel. We would consider staying at the Cabana at Waikiki again, but perhaps on a higher floor only because of the noise.

cute place; clean and had what we needed. There was a homeless guy who apparently is a regular here and I did find him opening my laundry. He was harmless enough (guess he didn't like our clothes enough to take anything). Good location, convenient, good value.

Checking in was easy. The only thing was that we never found the 2nd set of keys inside the condo. Called and left messages without returned call. There were sands on the hardwood floor but that's not a big issue. It can be very noisy. Our last night was the worst. A new group of people came in and was having a party down by the garage so music was blasting with many people having fun all the way until midnight or later. It's hard to sleep and rest after so many days of walking around. If you are looking for a nice, quiet, and fancier place to stay then this is not the place. It is very close to the beach and walking distance to many shops and restaurants. There are 3 food trucks parked outside this unit and selling foods every night so it's very convenient.

The property managers were very helpful and responsive! We did not have any issues with checking in or out. We also met the owner and he was a very nice and funny! The location of the property is ideal for those who wants to be in the middle of an action. The beach and all shops, restaurants, and entertainment is right behind the corner. We picked this location because it was convenient to get to a bunch of great hikes next to Honolulu. The place is clean and has pretty much everything you need, plus working AC which is so needed! The kitchen is not huge but has all essentials. Oh and parking! Finding a place with a parking was pretty much impossible so we were very happy to have one.We were only missing beach chairs which would’ve been great to have.

We have stayed at this location several times and this unit before! It felt like coming home to our own place, this time we did not do any cooking but it is nice to have a stove a refrigerator just in case! Thx U! for a Great Stay! Met the owner had great visit! Hope to do this again! Everything perfect!

It was clean, having a kitchen was helpful especially since everything everywhere is full of people it’s nice to take your meal back to the room and eat in peace. The only bad thing about this place was the parking. Yes it’s free but you’re spot is designated or you get towed. We’ll we came back everyday from our activities to a different car parked in our spot, no person to report it to and no idea what to do besides park in someone else’s stall and get them mad. It’s was frustrating!
