Oh WOW, the beach house was absolutely AMAZING. The sunsets from the deck were magical - we sat and watched the scene each night.
Loved the comfort and ambiance of home, everything we needed was there and more. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchen appliances/utensils etc and also had electric & charcoal bbq’s for night dining on deck.
Darryl was lovely, he gave us good advice on places to visit and walk through of home when we arrived.
It was the most perfect holiday, we didn’t want to leave.

Acai bowls in the AM, a well stocked grocery store two minutes away. Go north to Turtle Bay go West to Waimea.

The property had everything we needed and some big kahuna flair to it... just tremendous!
The North Shore waves were really rumbling while we were there. 20 footers bang the coast and shake the house at times. Makes for an amazing and unique sleep experience.
This makes me think about what retirement could look like in 20 years. I loved it!

We cannot say enough good things about this property and the owners/ managers. The property itself is right on the beach which provides a delightful experience. It is clean and well looked after and has everything you could hope for - outdoor warm showers, good amenities etc.
The owners and management were so so kind and helped us at every turn when we needed it. (They even cut down fresh coconuts for us!) Lovely place, lovely location and unbelievably kind people. If you are considering Oahu - you cant book a place thats better!

We visit Honolulu every year or do for the past 25 years usually at hotels. This year we rented a house and had a blast. We like to cook so it was nice having a kitchen. We’re a north shore family so it was perfect. If your a Waikiki shopping family this is not for you. The only bad thing is the traffic on the 2 lane highway getting in & out. The house is vintage and fun. Old school feel. Thanks Michel and Darryl.

After much research looking for the perfect house on the sand that we knew our French friends would enjoy we decided to book this unique house.
Amble room which accommodated all eight of us very well but a bit dated. Location was great being right on the beach at the end of a street. We did have to adjust to the noise of the traffic and the chickens, which only took a day.
We loved the outdoor porch and spent the majority of the time outside until dinner time because the table outside didn't seat all eight of us-there is however a bar that four people can sit at.
Really enjoyed the beach out back for a walk, a dip in the ocean (mindful of occasional strong currents), looking at the stars at night and of course the beautiful sunsets.
Overall the house was equipped well for our weeks stay. We really enjoyed our time and our friends loved the old school charm and told me that they wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
The care taker of the property Darryl was one of the most nicest guys we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. So helpful in every way. He went way beyond our expectations! What a sweetheart!!

This is one of the best homes I have stayed in, absolutely incredible location, an amazing sunset every night and one of the best beaches. Daryl the manager was incredible and became a friend over our 7 days. My only complaint is that we didn’t have enough time there 🏝️🚿

This location and home was great for our multigenerational family with teens and grandparents. There was something for everyone. The beach was never too crowded and almost felt like our own private beach. It is a well built classic Hawaiian tiki house. Our kids were even able to appreciate the unique decor. There was everything you would need in the house, including extra sunscreen, bug spray, etc. We had plenty of paper towels, toiletries, and soap. I would check out the house before you head to the store. Darryl is a wonderful manager who checked in with us during the trip. He is a true gem! There is traffic in the area during certain times of day so plan accordingly. Having the Foodland close by and even walking distance was great when traffic was bad. We could walk to Shark’s Cove for snorkeling. The house can get warm in the afternoon with all the windows but a small price to pay for the outstanding views. The A/C units in each room helped keep us comfortable. Using the window shades when we left for the day also helped keep the house cool in the evenings. The WiFi is excellent while I finished a few work things during our trip. Owner also checked in with us and was a delight to work with. We were very happy with our stay.

The house is amazing! Incredible North Shore location, right on the beach. Beautiful beach, kids were able to swim right in front of the house! House was perfect, AC in bedrooms was awesome, deck and hot tub were perfect! The house manager was great, so nice, so helpful! We got married on the beach right in front and everything was perfect! This home is spectacular, not some ordinary box on the beach. The Hawaiian decorations made us feel like we were truly In a real Hawaiian home. Every room is air conditioned so we were always comfortable, we opened the doors and windows and the Hawaiian breezes just floated throughout the house. It was exceptionally well kept and clean and the beds were all really comfortable. We had an awesome time and will definitely keep this place at the top of our list when we return. My wife and I really enjoyed our recent visit to the Sunset Beach House. The air-conditioning works so well, I had to put on a blanket at night. We also love the real Hawaiian style of the home with its tropical furnishings and laid-back vibe. House is old and in need of updating, but clean! A/C is just wall units and can’t keep the place cool, because the windows are so old. Deck is big and can accommodate. But this house is no comparison to the other houses around, which are in the same price range.

We had a lovely stay at the Sunset Beach house. Located directly on the beach and off the bike path that lines the prime surf breaks of the North Shore. The home is decorated in classic Hawaiian style and the great room with multiple windows affords an excellent view of the surf and ocean. Beach combing was great with an abundance of sea glass found. Daily spotting of whales from the deck both distant and close was a highlight of staying in the home as well as the easy access foot, car or bike to all the prime North Shore surf breaks. We would not hesitate to return to the Sunset Beach House!

Looking forward to the Hawaiian Christmas for almost two years produced some pretty high expectations but all 6 of us agree it was a complete success. We arrived in a fierce storm and the waves were 20 to 30 ft. None of us have ever “lived” that close to the surf. I can still feel the vibrations. The first day we became aware of whale spouts about 500 yards offshore and actually saw a humpback whale breach right from the deck of the house. The area had plenty of things to keep all of us interested including two college age adults. The manager Darryl was responsive and helpful and the locals were laid back and friendly.

What a unique Hawaii experience! The beach is the best I've ever seen. Had several calm days when we ventured into the water and then a few days when we could only watch the spectacular shore break. Found quite a few shells and even a small, rare SUNRISE shell!! A beachcomber's heaven. The house feels like true Hawaii with Polynesian decor throughout. We enjoyed the large view decks, coconut palms, on site sand volleyball court, covered parking & being close to the local grocery store. And a hot tub with views over the beach and ocean too. One of the best places I've visited!!! Can't wait to return.
By the way, the property manager, Darrell, is a true gem.

If you want to stay on a beach on Oahu, this is the one you want. The house is right on the beach, with with a large deck. We slid those doors open and spent the majority of our time right there. There were some things we didn’t get to do while we were there. But we were enjoying the house and beach, and didn’t care. The decor is just what you would expect in a Hawaiian beach house. Not fancy, but very comfortable. There were supplies of necessities provided: beach towels, toilet paper, trash bags, dishwasher detergent, that lasted the week. Darryl met us when we got there and helped us unload. He responded quickly to any time we had a question or needed help. If you get a chance to visit this house, take it. You won’t be disappointed.

Feel the trade winds through the countless louvers and sliding door screens, smell the ocean air, hear the surf, hear the wild chickens and the wind rustling the huge ficus and palm trees surrounding the property...all that makes for a very authentic Hawaiian beach house experience. The sunsets are awe-inspiring., the sand is so clean the white...the beach is almost deserted...like having a huge private beach in front of your island paradise home. I loved it here. Amazing Hawaiian House on Sunset Beach. Sunsets were fantastic every night. View off the back deck was a great place to have morning coffee and evening mai tais. Great swimming and snorkeling on the beach outside the house and 10 minute walk to sharks cove for some fantastic snorkeling. less than 10 minute drive to Foodland, Ted’s bakery with amazing desserts and Waimea bay. We spent 10 days and wish we’d had more time.

There wasn't a more beautiful location anywhere. The house was beautiful and big enough for all 8 in my family. We saw dolphins go by in front of the house twice. The snorkeling in Shark's Cove (a 5 minute walk) was unbelievable. It was wonderful to have a park on one side of us instead of more houses. We saw chickens with little chicks there. Darrel was wonderful to work with. He even bought a shade pop-up and had it waiting for me at my request. We all enjoyed the hot tub! Thanks!

A true beach house! Doors open on all sides, wind blowing, water 10' away, April waves small swimming was good. The view is amazing. Food is just walking distance from the house. Golf and cocktails a few miles away at Turtle Bay, although no better place for cocktails than the beach house with friends. Location, Location, Location.

Our time in your beautiful home was so much more than satisfactory- it was awesome!! The location is perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and wished we had a few more days. We rented bikes from North Shore Bike Rentals and rode daily in both directions (even in the rain) - kids had a blast!!!
You have a gem in Darryl - he is certainty a “keeper” he was the absolute best host we could ask for - over the top!!!
I also found a copy of your book at the house and read the whole thing while there … you’ve had quite the adventurous life - quite impressive.

We had a great time at The Sunset Beach House! We loved the views and that it was right on the beach with plenty of room for our group. The property manager was also great to work with. My one disappointment is that this beach has “no swimming” signs posted (at least at the time of year we visited- late March) and the water when we visited was definitely too rough for my kids to swim in. There were calmer swim spots a few minutes up and down the beach but not right outside the house. Otherwise, we thought the house was great and would recommend it to friends and family. Thanks!

Beautiful property right on the beach. We loved the architecture and decor, which really contributed to the vacation feel (as if the ocean view wasn’t enough!) as soon as you walked into the home. The house was well stocked with everything we could need, from kitchen to beach items to even including random baby items (like travel crib, baby spoons — we just contributed outlet covers to the collection. lol). The instructions to best enjoy the property and keep everything secure were very thorough. Darryl and Cardine were so pleasant and helpful! You could feel their warmth just pulling into the driveway. The hot tub on the deck was the perfect way to close out an evening watching the sunset colors change. We enjoyed feeding jam to the geckos from our fingers and watching whales in the distance. The location was super convenient to get grocery, and tootle around town and enjoy beach excursions, like surf lessons and shark diving. We’d definitely go back.

The pictures do not overstate the property. It is exactly as pictured and described. The location of the house was perfect! Close to Haleiwa and the Dole Plantation for day outings, or just enjoy the beach right in the back yard. The outdoor shower was great for rinsing off after playing in the sand. My only complaint was that we ran out of hot water by the end of the evening with everyone trying to get a shower. But we learned to adjust our hot water usage and all was good. Would definitely stay here again!

If having your own beach is a priority when visiting Hawaii, this is the place for you! Very private and peaceful location on the North Shore, yet walking distance to grocery, food trucks and surf lessons. Right on the beach with close food spots, grocery store, snorkeling @ sharks cove was awesome, there were lots of fish to see and protectedenoughto feelcomfortable having children snorkel. Although water shoes are definitely recommended. Property manager was also very helpful and informative. We had 7 Adults and 1 child and had plenty of space for sale of us. The beach out the back of the property would be good for strong surfers on a good day. Waves can get a bit rough. But it is a good beach to relax and soak up the sun. We would definitely visit again.

I have to say that my friend and I had the best time in Michel's home on the North Shore. We started our trip with 4 days in Waikiki at a resort and then 7 more days at The Sunset Beach House. The house was extremely well appointed. Darryl (property manager) and his wife were exceptionally gracious and helpful. The deck looks out over the beach and the ocean and is such a magnificent setting. There is a grocery store (Foodland) about 1 minute away...Shark's Cove (named for the shape not the inhabitants) was so great for snorkeling....much better than Hanauma Bay for seeing the sea life of the islands...tons of fish to swim with....Haleiwa was about 10 minutes away and had plenty of great restaurants, food trucks, small shops and is such a cool town to hang out in...also home to Hawaii Adventure Diving (snorkeling, no cage, with sharks)...and so much more...but returning to the house every night was so relaxing. Waking up in the morning to the ocean right outside the back porch was a dream come true. I highly recommend Michel's home to anyone and will definitely be back.

Sunset Beach House was super cute, cozy, and clean - well appointed. The beach was stunning, soft sand and warm, turquoise blue water. The location can't be beat, lots of stuff to do within a short driving distance, many good restaurants in nearby Haleiwa, paddle board, surfboard rentals, etc. Nearby grocery store with world renowned poke. This property blew my family away. This house is just outstanding, it feels unique to Hawaii. Location right on the beach is hard to beat. We took so many gorgeous sunset, sunrise, and rainbow photos without having to take an extra drive anywhere. The hot tub actually gets nice and hot too. It’s obviously humid in Hawaii but they supply enough fans and AC units so every room can stay comfortable.
If you’re planning a lot of activities in Waikiki then it would be hard to stay here.
Lastly, the property manager was extremely sweet. He dropped off pre chopped coconuts for us just for fun - ridiculous.

Location is what we were looking for. We wanted a place away from the crowds and traffic in Honolulu, and this fit the bill. Great views from the back deck. We saw whales and dolphins. The place is a bit dated and could use some upgrades, but it has everything we needed. Darrell, who I believe was the grounds keeper, was super nice and accommodating. Food trucks and the market were right down the road, so it was convenient to eat at the house or restaurants in Haleiwa.

We were blown away by the sight of the monster waves crashing right in front of the beautiful Lanai on the beach. The ideal location between Pipeline and Waimea Bay allowed us to see the world champ surfers in really tough waves - John John + Italo Ferreira... Totally breathtaking. We enjoyed this place again after our first visit 20 years ago. The only disappointment was the traffic and popularity of this location. The traffic congestion was awful. With the big waves coming in, there were people everywhere. But once you got to the beach house, the quiet tranquility of this beach front home resumed.

We all had a wonderful time. How could we not in such a beautiful home? The other family we traveled with had been to Hawaii on the Big Island before, but my boys and I hadn't ever visited and it was amazing! We all took full advantage of the hot tub on the deck and the kids had so much fun playing badminton, swimming and body surfing. There is also a grocery store within walking distance making it convenient to eat in. Great time! :)

My daughter's PhD thesis defense at the University of HI provided the perfect excuse for all of us to gather on Ohau. The Sunset House easily accommodated our extended family on a beach that continued forever. Everything was wonderful and the owner made a point of making sure all of our expectations were fulfilled. We enjoyed the hot tub almost daily as well. What a treat to have sunshine and warmth at Christmastime! We LOVED Sunset Beach and Hawaii and can't wait to come back some day and explore more! "

What a wonderful location for a family reunion! If you want to experience Oahu like a true local, Sunset Beach is the place to be. Far different from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and Honolulu, the North Shore has a laid back feel with all of the independent and unique restaurants and shops you need... and need I mention the food trucks?! A foodie's dream! Day trips to other parts of the island were easy drives and this lovely A-frame made an ideal place to meet back up as a family to watch the sunset each night behind the huge crashing waves (we were there during the winter months) and to make dinners together. We are lucky to have found this gem.

We're old hands at renting beach houses in Hawaii, this being our 12th time (on 3 islands). This was absolutely the best of all. Great house, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, plenty of room for all 7 of us. House was spotless, fabulous location. Great deck for evening sunsets and morning coffee (& watching whales), made great use of the spa (both adults and kids). 1700 steps to the nearby Foodland market, on a nice paved walkway. Great beaches all around, especially Waimea Bay. Great food in Haleiwa, especially Jamisons, Haleiwa Joe's, and Opal Thai, as well as great food trucks. House was so great we hung out there all the time, will definitely stay there again when we next come back to Oahu.

Our family (7) had the opportunity to enjoy the Sunset Beach House. Every morning we enjoyed whale watching from the deck while eating breakfast outside. During our stay we did the typical tourist stuff and always made a point to be back at the Beach House for dinner and sunsets. This area of the island is local in feel, laid back and the people are very friendly. The grocery store is close by, there are shrimp trucks just a jaunt down the road, Fresh fruit stand and bakery all within minutes of the house. Haleiwa is nearby and has great restaurants. For our first trip to HI, staying at the Beach House was truly the best decision we could have made for our family. The area did't feel "touristy". It was so relaxing and private something we believe we wouldn't have found in Honolulu. The view and beach were incredible every single day. The beach was steps from the house. We had one morning of rain in the 7 days we were there. As we prepared to depart on our final morning, we were already thinking about a return to Oahu someday to try and see all the things we missed while here this trip. It was tough to leave such a beautiful place. Thanks, Michel and Syd for sharing and caring for a great space. Our family loved it!

We loved this beach house. Everything was just perfect. Right in front of a Beautiful beach & very central location to different activities. Every time we went out, we couldn't wait to get back to this house. Thank you Michel! We would love to come stay again : )

Michel, we had a wonderful time in your beautiful house, once again -- our second time in this house. Everything was perfect, even the fresh tropical flowers on the counter; the beach was just lovely; the weather was actually more than we could have hoped for, since often there is rain at some point during the day, but I don't think we had more than a few hours here or there, maybe one night very late there was some. Sid, your property manager, was great and responsive, and fun to talk to as well. We had a perfect time, and I hope we can do it again someday, perhaps even in one of your other houses!

3 couples, all in our 50s went to see the Pipeline Masters, and Michel's house was absolutely perfect. Great location between Pipeline and FoodLand and the house was spectacular. We could have not asked for more. 6 of us had plenty of room with sunsets to die for! Heck, you are 50 yards from the pacific, what could be better. The home's decor is North Shore at it's finest.
I have been to Oahu's North Shore several times and rented homes each time, Michel's is as good as you get and reasonably priced in our mind. If we had a question or needed help, Sid was just a phone call away. Sid will go out of your way to help in any way he can.
Hopefully we will be back in a couple of years. Highly recommended!
