Poipu Beach is family-friendly thanks to its sheltered keiki (children) ponds and lifeguard services. However, if you are looking for a less-traveled beach, Mahaulepu Beach offers secluded sand and sea ideal for strolls and quiet time for contemplation.
If you want to take in some local body surfing, nothing beats the action at Shipwrecks Beach with its awesome shore-breaks. And there’s nowhere better to watch the Poipu sunsets than the beach or an adjacent beach restaurant with a Hawaiian cocktail in hand. Known for the breathtaking tones of pink and orange, the rosy clouds create a stunning end to a perfect day.
Poipu Weather
Many people seek vacations on other islands of Hawaii since Kauai is known as one of the rainiest places on earth. However, Poipu offers sunny climes for most of the year. You also get the bonus of cool trade winds when the temperatures rise. In the winter, temperatures range from the mid-70s to the lower 80s, and in the summer, they spike to the upper 80s. Although there is a risk for showers, they come in short bursts and aren’t likely to ruin your day.
From Golf to Ziplining
Poipu keeps you busy if you aren’t just there to relax. Whether you are looking to play a round of golf at one of the three golf courses designed by world-class designers Robert Trent Jones Jr. and Tom Weiskopf. Formerly the home of the PGA Grand Slam, the Poipu Bay Golf Course is a must. You can also visit Kiahuna Golf Course or Kukuiula Golf Course, Kauai’s most exclusive course. If you are looking for adventure, experience the natural beauty of the area with an adrenaline rush ziplining through the forest. You can also rent an ATV and get a little dirty on the many trails in the area.

Indulge your senses with a meal prepared by internationally renowned Chefs Peter Merriman and Roy Yamaguchi. Two of the Founders of the Hawaii Regional Cuisine movement, their signature restaurants are a must when visiting Poipu. If you are looking for casual dining, you have your choice of dining options, whether you are looking for local fare, the tastes of Italy, some spicy Mexican or fusion cuisine.

Chic Shack condo is an upstairs unit with split system A/C and vaulted ceilings which will provide a comfortable space to call "home" while you’re on Kauai. Chic Shack is a great place to kick your feet up after a long day's adventure! Relax on your private lanai overlooking the garden while being a short stroll to the sand. Surf spots, long walks and lifeguarded beach are all within walking distance.
• The Bedroom has a comfortable King size bed to ensure a good night's rest and a 32" inch SMART TV to stream your favorite movies or television series so don’t forget your passwords.
• The bathroom has a single vanity and shower/tub. I provide the basics-soap, shampoo and conditioner
• Keep cool in the living room with split A/C (which cools the entire condo but you must close all the louvered windows) or you can open up all the louvered windows and enjoy the cooling Kauai trade winds! LOCATION IN THE COMPLEX
• My condo is in Bldg. 42 on the second floor. Parking is FREE and is located directly in front of the building making it easy to bring in your luggage or groceries. It is considered a 'Garden View' unit, as it does not have a direct view of the ocean but is an enjoyable 8 minute walk through the historic Kiahuna Plantation to Poipu Beach or 2 minutes to Kiahuna Beach Front.

TURO is highly recommended, CAR RENTAL COMPANIES HAVE LONG WAIT TIMES. There are many places to see and explore!!

We had a wonderful stay at this property. The location was ideal. Finding the property at night was a challenge. Including a map of the property in the check in process would be helpful. Also, I was disappointed in the lack of communication with Deann after I had read in reviews that she was very responsive and helpful. We had no problems but had asked for suggestions for the area, as she had told us to ask for since we were celebrating our anniversary, but never heard back. Roosters will wake you up, bring ear plugs! Learning how to keep the property cool was different then expected with more screens used, but easy to do.
That being said, the property itself could use a few more kitchen essentials for ease of use, but everything else was spot on, clean, games, cooler, Alexa, etc. Much thought is put into this property! We would rent here again!

Deann is beyond a super host! The property looks just like the pictures and is very clean and quiet; the bed is very comfortable with great sheets. Deann’s communications were above and beyond. Check in couldn’t have been easier as she met us in Lihue before we headed to the condo. If you’re a party of two it is perfect and another two can use the sofa sleeper. We had a memorable stay with this great condo as our base. Another plus is access to the Poipu Beach Athletic Center just a couple minutes walk across the street; we were able to get in some Pickleball in the morning before other adventures. The center has tennis a pool and fitness center; it’s all included.
Deann really is a super star of hosting.

Beautifully appointed and impeccably clean air-conditioned condo overlooks a lush, secluded area within 5 minute walk to pool or beach areas. Add 2 more minutes and you have choices of shops, cafes, casual to fine dining restaurants for morning coffee and Hawaiian breakfast bowls, great lunch options and fun or celebratory dinners. Perfect for a vacation getaway.

We loved our stay at Deann's ChicShack. The property is just as described on the VRBO site. The proximity to Poipu Beach and several restaurants made this condo location very nice. We also enjoyed the perk of going to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club for swimming, pickleball and the grill. We reached out to Deann for some restaurant suggestions and she was quick to respond. This is a great place to stay!
