We have a wonderful stay. Monty communicated well and addressed any issues promptly. The location on the ground floor is perfect for families. The kids enjoyed hunting for frogs and lizards right outside our door, and getting to the pool directly from the backyard was super convenient. Would highly recommend staying here!

This was my third stay at Honua Kai, and I would definitely go back. The unit and host were both terrific, as are the facilities at Honua Kai, especially if you are traveling with children and want to have plenty to keep you busy at the resort. Its also a great location to all that Maui has to offer on the western half of the island and very close to the grocery store, great fish market and my favorite sushi spot (Miso Phat).

Our stay was amazing! We had a great 12 day stay. The location of the condo was perfect. You can leave from your private lanai and walk 1 min to the pools. The rooms were so spacious and the bathrooms were beautiful.
My only negative would be that many of the appliances are old/not working. One, the dryer door did not work. You have to use tape for it to close tightly and dry your clothes. Two, I had to PURCHASE a blender to make purees for my baby. There is a vitamix blender in the condo, but it did NOT blend well. It left too many chunks which would be a chocking hazard for my baby. Three, the TVs were not smart TVs. My dad wanted to watch a soccer game while we were there, but he could not use the app to watch it on the tv. He had to watch it on his phone. Four, the freezer door didn't close easily. You had to push it for it to close all the way. Besides the appliances needing to be upgraded, it was a great stay.

This is a very clean, spacious unit that accommodated my family of 5 (kidults/kid: 22, 19, & 16) plus my parents. We hung out mostly on the patio when we were in the unit and made good use of the grill. There are many thoughtful extras: portable cribs, roll away bed, beach chairs, rolling cooler, beach umbrella, etc. It's going to be difficult to find any other unit that compares to this one, and we can't wait to go back!

We were very happy in Ka’anapali. The condo was perfectly clean, beautiful and updated feeling. We loved the location so close to the food trucks, on the beach, a few minutes drive to calm swimming bays.
It felt luxurious at a reasonable price. The 5 of us fit perfectly, my 18 year old son said the couch was very comfortable, the beds were excellent and linens all clean and good quality. We loved being on the garden side and not hearing noise from the pool, but still having a beautiful ocean view if you step onto the lanai.
We could only hear neighbors above us when they moved chairs around, otherwise it was very quiet. The condo was well stocked with beach and kitchen necessities, I would only recommend bringing your own tissues if you use those in your makeup routine as there were none.

The property location was exceptional but the maintenance and cleanliness could have been so much better. The carpet was very dirty and the kitchen cooking pans looked like they were camping pans used for about 30 years, they were pretty bad but I do have to say the property manager replaced the right away. The patio furniture was pretty dirty and pretty worn out and had bird poo all over them, they were pretty ratty looking and so were the dining table outside was not good. Most cushions were worn out. Location was excellent for this place though and the bedrooms were all pretty nice. They kitchen sink on the rubber seam had molding and coffee pot was pretty dirty. I won’t be staying here in the future. A beautiful place but upkeep has not been happening here.

This three bedroom unit has to be the best in the entire complex. The large three bedrooms are down the hall away from the living area. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are large. The patio is large and the yard is so private with the manicured gardens, yet you are so close to the three pool areas. It was so nice to be on the first floor and just walk out to the beach and pools while avoiding the elevator. It's a great spot for a family vacation.

The location of this unit is the best quality. You are close to the beach, the pools, the boardwalk, the large lawn area. It was so nice to have room for the grandkids to spread their wings and not feel cooped up. Running back and forth to the pool is easy. We spent a lot of time on the Lanai, eating, playing cards, BBQing, and just hanging out. We got to watch the sunset, the birds, the butterflies, even had an easter egg hunt on the lawn. It's pretty magical here.

We just returned back home in Canada after a 3 week stay in this unit. Honua Kai is a fantastic resort condo. The facility has everything a family would look for: 3 pools, 6 hot tubs, waterslides, lazy river. The beach access is perfect and to top it off the wonderful Duke's Restaurant is located on the property.
For those going with family:
Pros: The pools, the restuarant, walking distance to food truck park, grocery store and local restaurants. Beach is nice and sandy, waves are not strong, great snorkleing.
Cons: None. Ok, well maybe some minor ones like I wish the facility had more rentable items such as Paddleboards or Surfboards. But there are shops within walking distance. The kids only complaint was that there wasn't a Shaved Ice stand on site...but pro tip, the Westin next door had a good one and was a 5 minute walk.
With respect to the unit itself, Dean is a very nice person to deal with and the property manager Monty was also very responsive and nice.
The unit is very spacious, 2beds 2baths. It is nicely furnished and clean. The view from the unit is average, but you get enough of an ocean view. You won't catch a clear view of sunset though (if this matters to you then pick one of the other buildings or units that face more easterly?), as this unit faces a different direction. The balcony is large and a great spot to have breakfast.
The unit had a pack and play, but didnt have a lot of "baby accessories" so if you are bringing an infant plan ahead by renting or buying some baby items such as a jolly jumper.
Dean went out of his way to arrange for a instapot to be at the unit for us, and the unit had a number of spices and condiments already stocked.
I will definitely return.
Some nice "to do" items for 1st timers coming to Maui and to Honua Kai:
1. take kids to Slappy Cakes - it is a pancake joint walking distance
2. walk past the westin and snorkel near the area where the trees are on the beach
3. hit whalers village and grab Mai Tais for Happy Hour at Monkeypod...best Mai Tais ever
4. spend a day at Black Rock beach on the sheraton side and snorkel
5. Eat at Star Noodle, Lahaina Grill, Mamas Fishhouse, Merriman's, Morimoto, Japengo
6. spend as many sunsets next to Duke's, there is a live singer every night that sings while the sun sets
7. head up to Napili Farmers market and make a day at Kapalua Bay, check out Taverna for Sunday brunch

We had such a great experience with the manager of the property before we even arrived until the very end of our visit. The unit itself was spacious, clean, and had a fully stocked kitchen. We used a couple of the beach toys that were provided as well. We had other family members staying in Honua Kai as well so we would gather for meals and cocktails out on the lanai. The location was perfect. An easy walk to the pools/beach. We would definitely return!

We had a lovely time at this condo. It was fully stocked and spacious. Large balcony for meals and sunsets. The pool area and grassy areas were great. Get out early for chairs. The beach chairs were very appreciated. The beach was beautiful but a little rocky. We enjoyed eating at Duke’s on the premises. Great location convenient to Lahaina, groceries, shopping etc. Suggestions include adding more coffee cups and upgrading the living room chairs—you really sink into them. Everything else was perfect.
