Please read this before you book. The following is in reference to the Lahaina fires and 2024 Winter/Spring painting of the exterior of the Konea Building.
Please understand that if you come and stay with me that you will not be taking a room from a displaced family or that you will be taking resources from victims of the fire. Right after the fire, me and the owners I represent placed victims of the fire in our units free of charge. No questions. It gave them a safe place to think and they knew they would need to find a longer term solution. Most have done that. A couple still need some more time and they will have that. I will not kick them out for a paying guest, so if the unit shows available then it’s available because the family in it found a longer term solution.
What to expect:
Keep in mind everything north and south of Lahaina is intact. That said 85% of Lahaina Town is gone. So when you drive in via the Lahaina Bypass you will see some damage. Once you come down and get back on Honoapiilani Highway and go past Safeway (which is open now) you will see what you have seen on TV. It’s bad, but there’s nothing you can do but support those people now.
Depending on when you are coming there may still be displaced families at Honua Kai as the Resort really stepped up more than anyone else in offering temporary housing. The ones that work will be understanding and grateful, and this does not need to be said but we all just need to be respectful of one another.
We hear all the time how much people love Maui, how they leave a little bit of their heart in Maui when the leave, and how Maui allows their family to connect or re-connect. The truth of the matter is that Maui needs you now more than ever to come and support its people, its shops and its restaurants. That said I understand and respect that some people may see it differently, so everyone needs to make their own choice.
PAINTING
The HOA is going ahead with the exterior painting of the Konea Building. The painting has already began on the outer units (not the interior courtyard which is where your unit is located). They are painting the exterior of the building and not the interiors.
The tentative timeframes are:

Konea 403, 503, and 703 April/May 2024
If they are actively painting your lanai you will not have access to your lanai from 8 am to 4pm Monday thru Friday. Painters don't work weekends or holidays. The lanai furniture has to be wrapped in the plastic covering provided during the work hours. The guest is responsible for replacing the plastic covering on the lanai furniture if they remove it. So, you can use the lanai before and after they paint for the day, just not during.
They will access the exterior of the building and the unit lanai's via a booms and not scaffolding. At the end of the day they lower the booms.
Here are your options: If they will be actively painting during your stay you can cancel for a full refund at any time prior to arrival. If you do not cancel and they are actively painting your unit’s lanai during your stay we will apply a 25% discount to your rate for those days. We will know when they are actively painting because the painting company will have signs on the lanai doors reminding us that they are painting.
As we learned from the painting schedule for the Hokulani building last year, the Konea painting schedule is tentative. It is somewhat of a moving target and tends to be delayed. The rates have not been discounted on the current calendar. If a refund applies then we'd issue that during your stay for the days they are actively painting.
I will do my best trying to keep you updated with information I receive so you can make the most informed decision.

This explanation may help since Honua Kai can be confusing. The construction of the Luana Townhouses is 100% complete, Honua Kai is now 700 individually owned condominiums that belong to a Homeowners Association. Honua Kai is not a hotel. Every owner chooses to either use the onsite management which is now Outrigger or they choose an outside rental company (ORC). Outrigger is not the "Resort" they're just the onsite managment company. Now they own the front desk area and some other areas at Honua Kai, but all guests have access to the pools, restaurant, stores, Spa, fitness center and concierge
Please take a look at our photos and you'll see that they are actual pictures of the unit and upon your arrival you will say that the pictures do not do this place justice. Also, know that this unit has the highly desirable 1315 sq ft floorplan. If you want to make your trip special this is the unit for you.

-Our Aloha Welcome Package which includes coffee K-pods, Chilled Champagne, Hawaiian Chocolates, Tommy Bahama Shampoo and Soaps.
-Either the bellman or I will greet you at the bell desk and escort you to the unit.

There will be a $5/day charge to valet park(if valet parking allowed), but self-parking is FREE. Only one car per unit is allowed in the underground parking garage. This is subject to change.

We had the best week at this property! The location is fabulous. It feels like a resort in the sense that there are amenities, restaurant with pool service, fun pools, and onsite help when you need or want, but the privacy and benefit of having your own kitchen, enough space to spread out, washing machine, etc. I loved that it was walking distance to the grocery store, super close to what we wanted to do, and just so convenient to park or get the car. We were there during spring break so a busy week but we didn’t feel crowded on the beach at all, or in general.
The owner was very communicative about check in, lots of good details, loved the special touches. The sunset view from this unit was amazing. It was fabulous and we would love to return.

It had everything a home kitchen with have… well with the exception of groceries 😁! The owner was very responsive and quick. Check in was smooth. Parking is free, and no resort fee! Overall great stay, would definitely stay here again.

It is the little details that set this apart from other units. There are plastic containers, foil, plastic wrap, etc. Bathrooms are large and have soaps and such with plenty of towels.
The bedrooms are large with comfortable beds. You can control the temperature of each room to get a perfect night’s sleep.
Easy to check in, consistent communication with details from the owner, and an all around 10/10! Loved ending our trip here; just hard to say goodbye to Maui.

Condo was amazing and had everything we needed inside and for trips t the beach. Large balcony with beautiful views. Watched whales every day. The owner was always available to us for anything we needed. The lavaflows at Dukes restaurant were the best. The only thing I could even come close to saying wasn't perfect is the pools are only 3-1/2 feet deep and parking in garage fills up in evening so you may have to park by the townhouses and walk a little. Pools are great for kids and hanging around in just harder to swim laps. Grounds are beautiful.

We spent a wonderful week in Maui! The views of the ocean were perfect. You really are in one of the best spot for ocean views. The room fit our family of 5(15yr, 13yr & 11year olds). We felt very comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay.
We’ve also stayed next door at the Westin Villas and I like these rooms way better. Having Dukes on the property was a plus too! We will defiantly be back.

Don’t hesitate to book this apartment. It was well stocked with everything from beach chairs & a cooler to laundry detergent. It was very clean and comfortable. We were 2 couples and the 2 bed/2 bath worked perfectly for us. While the beach is small, we still did sit on it. You are close to many other beaches if you want a more expansive beach. There are multiple pools and waiter service by the pools. The concierge was very helpful in answering our questions. We would definitely try to book this again if we return to Maui.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this condo. The balcony was amazing. We enjoyed breakfast on the balcony every morning enjoying the ocean and the rainbows. The rooms were very comfortable and Joe was kind enough to split the second bedroom’s king bed into two twin beds for our children. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast and lunches. The washer/dryer was more helpful than we imagined. We were pleasantly surprised to find beach chairs and sand toys for our use as well. They were put to good use. You will not be disappointed staying in this condo. We didn’t need anything from Joe but he checked on us from time to time. We hope to stay here again in the future.

This is an incredible unit. It is well taken care of, very clean, spacious, and has an amazing view! Watching the sunset from the lanai is just gorgeous. It was so nice to have one of the king beds turned into two twins, and the unit is very large with wonderful bathrooms. Joe was a wonderful host. We were greeted with champagne, chocolates, and coffee. He is easy to communicate with, and truly wants your stay to be the best! We will definitely be back!

We traveled to Maui with our two daughters and their families which included 5 grandkids. Their families stayed in other units down the hall - but on many occasions family members would pop in and out to share an exciting event from the day or watch the sunset with us.

We had a wonderful vacation. The condo had everything we needed and Joe was welcoming and quick to answer our questions. We loved all the beach and snorkel equipment and the views from the balcony are spectacular. The icing on the cake was when he was able to extend us a late checkout on the day we were leaving. That gave us practically an entire extra day to enjoy the resort. I can't thank him enough for that. We would happily recommend his condo and hopefully we will make it to Maui again. Mahalo Joe!

Our entire experience with Honua Kai was outstanding! From booking it, checking in and checking out we felt like we were valued guests. The condo was exactly as described and exceeded our expectations. Joe was there to greet us and even got us into the condo an hour early. After showing us the amazing view, we settled in and enjoyed ourselves. We used the pool every day and were very happy with all the employees who offered assistance during our visit. If you are looking for an awesome place to stay in the Kaanapali Beach area, check out this property!

We just returned from a week at HK and were completely thrilled with this unit! The condo is in perfect condition and fully stocked with anything you will need for a week at the beach. My sister stayed in a different condo within HK and her unit did not provide the beach necessities that ours did. Joe was on vacation the week we were there, but he had the bellman prepared to help us up to our condo and get checked in. Joe even had chocolates, coffee and champagne waiting for us! As far as other units are concerned within HK, unless you are getting one of the large three bedrooms at the end of each building you cannot beat the location of this unit. You definitely want to stay in the Kona building, as the other building has a major construction project adjacent to it. This unit has a direct view of Molokai and Lanai Islands and it is breath taking!!! There is no one else's lanai obstructing your ocean view as with other units farther back in the building. I cannot say enough great things about this condo! Thank you Joe for allowing us to have such a great week in Maui- we can't wait to come back!!!

We just returned from our week-long stay at this property and cannot recommend it strongly enough. The unit was exceptional. We could not check in early because another family was leaving the day of our arrival, but Joe texted me the moment it was ready. The pictures are accurate but do not do the view justice. Perfect for your early morning coffee or sunset cocktail. Kids loved the pool and the slide and Joe has plenty of beach gear in the unit for your use (boogie boards, chairs, etc.). We were a party of 2 adults and 4 kids (including 2 teenagers) and had plenty of space. I noticed some reviews stating the BBQ's were a bit of a walk. Eh. Not so much. They are right next to the pools, have plenty of seating, and are a great place to meet other families, share some BBQ recipes, and generally socialize. That was how we discovered BBQ watermelon (baste with XV olive oil, squirt some lime juice, sprinkle with sea salt, BBQ each side @ 4-5 minutes - delicious!!). Honestly, the only reason why I might not book this unit again is because I want to buy one of my own. Have a great time!! You won't regret staying here!!

My family and I just returned from our week at Honua Kai. This unit was outstanding - better than advertised. It was clean, beautiful, and modern. Joe and Rhonda have equipped it with all the necessary conveniences and kitchen utensils. They also provided numerous beach towels, beach chairs, boggie boards, and more. The complex was beautiful - several pools and constant fun for the entire family. The views from the lanai were magnificent and are even better than the photos. Joe and Rhonda were first class to deal with from start to finish and I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again.

My family and I just returned from a week in this condo and our experience was outstanding. I rented a similar unit through Costco last year, and this property was a great improvement at a much lower cost. I want to compliment Joe and Rhonda on the entire process. The booking process was clear and easy. I received prompt emails with details along the way. I was met by Joe at the Honua Kai entrance upon arrival and he showed me all of the features of the unit, explained details of the resort, and provided his cell number for any questions during my stay.
The unit was fully stocked with nice dishes, glasses, cups, cookware, chairs, beach toys, two snorkel sets, a small cooler and a large cooler, nice appliances, comfortable beds, nice toiletries, real paper towels (Bounty) and toilet paper (Charmin), five large/think beach towels, and the list goes on. He even included a welcome bottle of champagne. I have stayed in many condos over the years and this one was better equipped than any of them. I give major kudos to Joe and Rhonda for helping make my stay a pleasant one.
When checking out, I we left three items in the closet and didn’t realize until we reached the airport. I texted Joe and he promptly replied he would take care of shipping the items back to me. A couple of days later, he texted me a picture of the items to ensure that was everything, and planned to ship them that day. I can’t say enough about his attention to detail and ensuring our stay was outstanding.

My wife and our two toddlers had an incredible vacation while staying at this condo. This was our second stay at the Honua Kai and the first stay at this condo unit. Joe was very accommodating in arranging our check-in and even allowed us into the unit several hours earlier than scheduled. He made us feel very comfortable and was very responsive when we had questions.
The unit is clean, comfortable and has incredible ocean views. The condo has beach chairs, towels, fins, and boogie boards, making beach days hassle free. We highly recommend this unit, it was our best vacation with our young family to date.
