The rental was clean and well stocked with essentials. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to stay again in a few years after west Maui rebuilds from the fires. The only problem I saw with the rental was the pullout couch was kind of falling apart but it was still usable.

Great 1 bedroom suite that allowed our kids to take over the pull out couch and have their own space. Very clean unit. Full kitchen made it nice to cook a meal in. Great location and pool area. Would absolutely stay again…when I save up enough to come back.

Really enjoyed our stay - we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Eating meals out on the lanai was a highlight of our day. We enjoyed the pools and close access to the beach. Since we had a toddler with us, we did need to move some items out of the way for safety (there are no baby locks or similar on cupboards) but that's expected when traveling and wasn't difficult to manage. We definitely hope to return and would recommend this listing.

We booked for 2 nights because we couldn’t get into our regular location when we needed to. This was a nice place. Much more “resort-like” than where I’m used to staying. The unit was nice and clean. “Sleeps 4” is probably not meant for a family with older kids like us. We were a bit cramped with the sleeper sofa out but we made it work. Amenities were nice. It was a bit confusing to find at first but the on-site staff were very helpful. There were no wristbands so I’m not sure what happened there.

Enjoyed our stay in this condo. It was fully stocked with cooking and food storage essentials. Great breeze and Mountain View from the lanai to enjoy morning coffee. Only downside was a sign on the side of refrigerator that we didn’t see until making coffee the next morning stating you “might want to freeze meat” until refrigerator cools after stocking it. Our Costco chicken didn’t survive but we did! 😊

The kids had an absolute blast on the water slide and in all of the pools. The beach is right there with amazing snorkeling within a short walk. We even did long walks (to Black Rock and further) then took the bus back which was super easy. Loved the location, the condo was super clean and had everything we needed. High speed blender, rice cooker, basic spices, tons of to-go containers, plenty of towels and blankets…can’t say enough amazing things about the condo, the location and the hosts. The local food trucks were great. Duke’s on site with servers coming around all the time…we were SO happy. Thank you Jill and the whole team!!

We have a timeshare nearby, but after long travel - it's nice to stay a couple days at a different place to extend the vacation. This was my first time staying at Honua Kai. The resort is fantastic, rooms are great. To me, though, the benefit of this vs other places -- is the check in and out process. Each door has a code for the individually owned condos (might use the term wrong). I received great communication, instructions - and seriously just drove up, unloaded and walked to the room. It's like National Car Rental / emerald aisle! At my timeshare after the stay -- room wasn't ready until 6pm, check in took 1/2 hour.
I'd definitely go back to Honua Kai - and also with this owner.

My husband and I stayed at this property for our honeymoon during the 2022 Christmas week. We thought the place was very clean and spacious. We loved spending time out on the lanai in the mornings. The only issue we had was the AC in the unit but we realized we didn't close the door to the lanai properly (a tip for future visitors). Also if you don't like children running around in the pool area then this place isn't for you, but we enjoyed it because we liked how lively this place was! This is a great option for those of you who want a resort experience without paying for an expensive resort stay.

We loved staying in this Honua Kai unit which was perfect for our little family. When one of us was cold at nights Hula Hideaway immediately brough a nice cozy blanket for the pullout couch. We appreciated all the items that were included in this unit like laundry and dishwasher detergent, although a little more toilet paper would be a good thing. The property was clean and well maitained and the property description was accurate. I would recommend this to a friend and we love staying at the Honua Kai because it is very family friendly with lots of pools. It is frustrating that sometimes you cannot find a parking spot but it is nice to have the valet available at a very reasonable rate. The one thing that I would like the management company to know is that there were cockroaches in some of the cutlery and kitchen drawers.

Only downside is the parking. The parking garage fills up really quickly. We got home a 9 from a luau one night and there were NO spots available. We made our own spot and got a notice our car would be towed if we did it again. Not sure if there were other places we could park, but there were s few nights we didn’t go out because we were worried we couldn’t get a parking spot when we came back. Kind of a bummer because the resort is great. We didn’t ask if there were other places for us to park.

Plenty of places to stay in Maui, but I’ll be coming back here next time for sure.

Highly recommended!!! It was perfect stay for family of four with teens. The unit was comfortable, clean, and spacious. Also, the unit came with beach chairs, umbrella, beach towels and cooler. It was a plus to have during daily excursions around the island. The resort itself was huge and the pools were amazing after long day of exploring. Definitely met all our checklist/ expectations. Overall, we rate 10/10 - the unit itself, resort, and general area (Kaanapali).

This property has a view of the top of the front entrance. It’s very noisy with Uber drivers honking and hotel check ins making sitting on the patio unpleasant. The room itself has terrible overhead lighting in the bathroom and no USB ports. The property as a whole is beautiful, the staff is exceptional and the location is lovely.

Tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Nice table and one lounge chair on the lanai facing the sunrise side and overlooking far off Mountain View and a slice of valet parking area at the entrance. We did not use the sofa bed in living room. It definitely would not be convenient to have the entire living room used up for sleeping. The bathroom is separate from the bedroom - One sink and a tub/shower combo. Nice to have woven baskets in both the bathroom and bedroom for laundry use. Also bathroom was adjacent to a spacious closet containing beach chairs, cooler, and boogie boards across from the laundry closet holding new Bosch stackable washer and ventless dryer. Didn’t care for the dryer - it required extensive cleaning of inside lint remover as well as drying/cleaning of the compressor and filter below the drum and often halfway through drying cycle. One item we used during stay was a hanging rack we placed in living room to help finish drying clothes from dryer since they often felt damp still at end of cycle. One had to keep wash loads very small. The kitchen had many plates and glasses/mugs for use. Could have used a couple more pots and pans. Nice that they provided plastic wrap, foil, paper towels, and sandwich bags. But there weren’t any other cooking kitchen supplies. Would have liked at least a salt and pepper shaker. The resort itself is amazing. Our daughters and grandsons were in a different condo. They all thought the resort was terrific. Beautiful landscaping, pools, hot tubs, and great snorkeling nearby. One grandson said it was the best vacation he’s ever had. (Except for the Road to Hana day - but that’s a different review - not many fans of it). Overall would recommend this condo but think hard if you have children using the sofa bed. The space is best for 2 people.

My family and I had a wonderful time at Honua Kai and booking through HulaHideaway. The resort was beautiful, location perfect and the unit very nice. Only slight negative is the lanai was near the main entrance valet area of the Konea tower. Not a huge deal, but more of an FYI if you’re out later in the evening there can be a lot of cars and honking, etc. Still a fabulous experience and would definitely stay here again.

Hula hide away unit 322 was a very clean and beautiful unit. There was confusion from the very start of booking through Expedia VRBO and then Hula Hideaway. During the course of booking the unit we were shown pictures that appeared to have this unit facing a partial ocean view. It was not what we received and we understand that Hula Hideaway was in no way responsible for miss information. We were very happy with Hula Hideaway and the care they took trying to help us out through the course of that week of our vacation.

Positives: Our room was perfect! The space was clean, well prepared with everything we needed for our stay and more. We utilized kitchen amenities, laundry, and the spacious balcony. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was well stocked upon arrival. Negatives: Children everywhere! We are a couple in our early 30’s and did not expect to be seemingly the only people without a child in the entire resort. Whether we were at on-site restaurants (which were underwhelming), or attempting to relax by the pool, we were consistently interrupted by crying or screaming children. Even when swimming we had a hard time avoiding being run into by endless kids racing from one end to the other. I understand kids will be kids and this may not be a downside to some, but do be warned that if you, like us, are looking for a quiet relaxing vacation spot this may not be it. Our only other negative was the pool area. The beach was incredibly nice and close to the buildings, however the pool was very small and walking areas were tight. There were many occasions we had to wait for areas to clear out in order for us to be able to go into the pool without feeling surrounded. We were disappointed by the size of the hot tub as well. The one time we were able to enjoy the hot tub alone was past 10pm and we noticed large bugs scurrying on surrounding rocks. There was another cockroach in the trash area in our building.Overall our living space was ideal and everything the listing said it was. The resort itself was as described and stuff was relatively friendly. We just wish we could’ve enjoyed shared spaces more given the location and money spent.
