4.5 stars! We've stayed at various units within Honua Kai, and the resort never disappoints, with its great location on the beach, access to numerous pools, and Duke's just steps away for an easy and delicious meal (don't miss the hula pie!). This unit was no exception. It was clean and a good size for our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 elementary-aged children). The fold-down bed in the living room was fine for our 8-year-old daughter but may be a tight squeeze for an adult. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare at least one meal per day, and we enjoyed many of our meals on the lanai, which had a peekaboo view of the ocean. The second floor location made it easily accessible from both the elevator and the stairs. We were unlucky enough that our vacation coincided with unusually rainy weather and a big storm coming in, but because the unit was so comfortable, we didn't mind too much staying inside more than expected! Fereshteh promptly responded to all our questions, and we really appreciated her letting us check in a little early! The only minor improvements I'd suggest are: (1) installing a few towel racks/rings in the bathroom for hand towels; and (2) installing brighter light bulbs in the kitchen and living area because those areas always seemed dark, even when all the lights were turned on. The dryer also takes a really long time to dry, requiring us to run repeated cycles, but that may just be a function of the type of dryer that Honua Kai installs.

I had already researched the resort and new it was a gem but those windows just open up and your outside living is exactly that. My mom and I literally sat on that lanai every chance we got, coffee, breakfast made in the nice kitchen, dinner from locally sourced fish and veggies and rainbows!. This was my best stay in Maui and I look forward to booking with the owner again. Also the fact the check in was simple and Check out even easier made it nice. Boogie boards and chairs and comfy bed. No words for the peak a boo view of the ocean. Saw spinner dolphins from lanai at dinner. Planning next trip with same owner and condo. Book it!!!!

The owners seemed hyper controlling. We were to remove shoes when entering condo, for example. There were a plethora of do’s and don’t s We are both responsible adults and would have exerted the same care without the tight reins.
People either have integrity or they don’t. We would have been responsible and neat without all the excessive rules. Irresponsible people are not going to become responsible just because they are bombarded with rules. In fact, those folks will probably never read all the excessive information.

The Honua Kai is a beautiful property, and this unit provides a nice view of the ocean and gardens and has all that's needed for a comfortable stay. The property manager is committed to making guests happy and comfortable and a pleasure to work with. The pull-out bed in the living room is surprisingly comfortable. Note for spring and summer 2022 visitors: the Honua Kai is undergoing painting so be sure to check if your unit will be affected. The property manager of this unit was very responsive to this issue.

My family including a six-year-old and two-year-old spent one week in this condo and I highly recommend it. I can go ahead everything that made it convenient and easy for my kids including a pack and play, high chair, toys for the beach and pool. The location of the condo was great because it was quiet but easy access to the elevator close to the pool and beach. The condo is also located across the street from a supermarket which is very convenient. I highly recommend staying at this condo.

We just loved everything about our stay at 208 Honua Kai condos. Having never been to Maui, we weren't really sure where to stay. The location of this condo was perfect for us. We didn't rent a car, but we enjoyed a daily walk along the board walk and took an uber into Lahaina a few times. We walked down to Whaler's Village (about a mile and a half each way) several times. There is also a grocery store two blocks away. The resort has lovely pools and amenities, although we spent most of our time on the beach playing in the ocean and watching the whales. The condo was very nice! The kitchen area is a little dark, but as we didn't cook any actual meals there, it was fine for grabbing a quick breakfast or lunch. I loved sitting out on the lanai in the mornings. It's very peaceful on that side of the resort with a small slice of ocean view. The bathroom is quite large, but there isn't much storage in the bedroom for a week's worth of clothing. Overall, I would love staying at this property again.

This property is our absolute favorite in Maui and this unit didn't disappoint. Although it wasn't a 'view' unit, from the balcony, you could see the ocean to the side. We'd definitely stay again. There were great extras available including a couple of nice Tommy Bahama backpack beach chairs that was super nice to be able to use. The Wusthof knifes were awesome - not what you'd expect from a rental. There are a couple of items the unit needs including a couple regular pans. The pans are all HUGE but we needed a simple fry pan to make scrambled eggs so that was challanging! ;) Loads of plates, but could use some more bowls. And a non-wood cutting board would be good addition as well. Overall easy process and nice unit. We'd definitely stay again.

We loved this condo. Our family stayed here for 3 weeks and we had everything we needed for a combo work/vacation trip. The condo was beautifully furnished and was in great condition; it was even nicer than the photos. The resort kept us all entertained with three pools and a beautiful beach, perfect for snorkeling and swimming. Great location close to many other beaches, restaurants, grocery stores, etc.

We enjoyed our stay at this fantastic resort. The room was very clean and the property had a lot of desirable amenities. Fereshteh responded incredibly quickly to any questions we had and was helpful with the whole process of traveling to Hawaii during covid. My 6 and 8 year old children were able to sleep comfortably on the futon but it may be a little small for older children or adults. The kitchen was well stocked with all the supplies we needed. We spent a lot of time enjoying the pools and the beach which were steps from the condo. I would definitely book this listing again.

Our visit was great! Overall, you cannot beat the location. You are a 2 min walk to set up your chair by the ocean for great snorkeling or the pools to relax. The outside patio is shaded from the heat and made the space feel bigger. Whatever we needed, Fereshtei brought us very quickly. The location was just a quick ride up the elevator for anything needed throughout the day. There is also nice, free underground parking as well which was excellent! I would definitely stay here again. We woke up to a big partial ocean view each morning and a quick walk for the sunset each night. What could be better???? Thank you for the memories.

This condo was perfect for our family of 3. Plenty of space and loved having a kitchen and washer/dryer. I also was happy to have use of beach chairs, boogie boards and a cooler. The lanai was amazing! This is our second time staying at the Honua Kai. The property has 3 great pools and while it was busy, we were always able to find chairs. Dukes on property is also a plus. Location is close to beautiful beaches, snorkeling and hiking spots. Would stay here again!

My family enjoyed our stay at the Honua Kai. The pools were very family friendly and there are many different ones to choose from. There were not enough lounge chairs and if you don’t get there before 9am you’re pretty much out of luck unless you rent a cabana. The location to the beach is great. This unit is not associated with the Hotel itself which we didn’t know prior to booking and the owner said the front desk will not help you. That was a bit disconcerting. As for the condo itself: it was clean and a nice size with the bedroom. We were dissapointed with the “pull out” couch. It is not the one shown in the picture, it is a futon that is not even as big as a full sized bed. My children are 6 and 4 and their feet hung over the edge so we had to put chairs up against the couch so they could straighten their legs out. This unit would NOT be ideal for two couples or a family with two older children. I mentioned this to the owner and she just responded that it was a Queen. It absolutely is not. The kitchen is pretty well equipped but because the unit isn’t connected to the resort there is no housekeeping and there were no cleaning products provided to keep the unit sanitized throughout our stay. Bathroom cleaners or sanitizing wipes would be very helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay because we love Ka’anapali beach and the hotel itself is in a great location.

My husband and I stayed at Honua Kai for our 5th year anniversary and we had a fantastic time! The unit had everything we needed including beach chairs and boogie boards :) The resort is located right on Ka'anapali beach where there is a reef right outside and sea turtles to snorkel with. The pools and hot tubs were great for some after beach relaxation. We also ate a Duke's a couple of times and the food there is pretty good. The only thing that would make this unit better is a water view although where the lanai faces is not bad because it offers some privacy. Fereshteh was very helpful and even mailed us the room keys which made getting into the unit extremely easy. Thanks for hosting us!

We are a well-travelled family but can honestly say that Honua Kai is one of the best places we have ever stayed! Both the resort and the unit are of an extremely high standard and beautifully maintained. The oceanfront location is perfect - close enough to the hustle and bustle of Ka'anapali for an early morning stroll to Starbucks or for an evening visit to a luau, but far enough away to feel peaceful and relaxed. I can't think of a more beautiful spot to sip a mai tai and watch the sun go down!
The unit itself is well designed and very well equipped, with every home comfort. The kitchen has everything you need to make a family meal or picnic and the resort bbq's are modern and immaculately clean. The unit is spacious and the large bathroom was big enough to cope with the demands of two teenage girls!
The local Times supermarket and other stores are within walking distance and we also drove the short distance to the Lahaina Cannery Mall where there is a large Safeway, Barnes & Noble, Walgreens etc. We rented snorkel sets at the Maui Dive Shop there and they were really helpful in recommending good local snorkelling spots. We couldn't believe how much wonderful snorkelling there is, just off local beaches such as Kapalua. A close encounter with a sea turtle is something I will never forget!
All in all a fantastic holiday and one we'll be keen to repeat. Like other reviewers, we hadn't used VRBO before but Fereshteh made the process very easy for us, even though we are in Australia. Without being asked, she also arranged an early check-in for us when she learned that our flight would arrive during the morning.

I can't think of anything I would improve here. We have been to Maui many times and stayed at many different places. This is the FIRST time I have felt comfortable as far a the cleanliness of the condo I stayed in. I admit I have a hard time coming to places and sharing beds, furniture, dishes, etc. I walked in and said wow! I feel at home. The sheets smelled so clean! The appliances were top notch. The photos depicted exactly as the condo looked. Fereshtehtali was wonderful to work with. She replied to everything in a better than timely matter. There were many things to do. We love to snorkel and found many highly rated snorkel areas including Black Rock that were an easy walk down the beach. It was great to have a grocery store, subway, and some other shops less than a mile away.
I would highly recommend your stay here as this is where I hope to stay on my next trip!

Our stay in this condo exceeded our expectations! The condo itself is well-maintained, clean and well-stocked with beach/pool accessories. The condo layout worked very well with our young children sleeping on the convertible sofa bed and it was also very handy to have the pack and play (included with the condo) to use in the bedroom for our young toddler. The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking and the appliances are high quality. Although Duke's on location (a bit pricey), we would highly recommend taking the time to make some of your own meals on the handy outdoor grills! We loved the unit's closeness to the elevator and with the excellent soundproofing we only heard the occasional noise from the hallways and neighbouring lanais. The resort itself was gorgeous with helpful staff, beautiful grounds, breathtaking ocean views and 3 amazing pools that we became well acquainted with during our stay. You also can't beat having the beach at your doorstep!!! We loved the beach walk trail that allowed you to walk along Kaanapali Beach to Black Rock in about 45 minutes. It was also easy enough to catch the free shuttle at a nearby hotel/resort along the beach trail to take you to Whaler's Village for some other shopping and dining options. The condo was also within a 10 minute drive to Lahaina for additional shopping, eating, and sightseeing.
As this was our first experience with VRBO, Fereshteh was more than willing to answer our questions. Her responses were helpful and prompt. We would highly recommend staying at this particular condo unit and resort and definitely foresee staying here again when we visit Maui in the future!!! It was such a pleasure to deal with Fereshteh and we thank her for sharing her piece of paradise with our family!

We booked the condo for its proximity to amenities such as the beach, the pool and the boardwalk (that continues to Lahaina). We were impressed that the suite was so well appointed, and the quality and array of appliances. Since we traveled with our infant son, we also appreciated that the suite was close to an elevator that took us to the pool, and to u/g parking below.
The resort is well situated and close to cheap eats, shopping and other activities, albeit within driving (versus walking) distance. The resort is also family oriented. While a couple can enjoy a private vacation, families thrive in the resort. The lcoation of the suite makes it private and quiet.

Myself, my husband and two children (ages 9 & 11) stayed in this unit for 10 nights. We loved the comfort of the room and having all the amenities we could desire. We loved the quiet location of the room and enjoyed stargazing from the lanai. The room was nicely furnished and the bed was comfortable. As a mom, I appreciated having a washer and dryer in the unit. The owner was wonderful to correspond with, always prompt when corresponding. I would recommend this unit to friends and would definitely stay there again.

Stayed at Honua Kai over the holiday season. The resort is amazing especially for families with small children. Most important is that it is a new modern resort right on the beach. The unit itself is absolutely stunning and beautifully decorated. The condo is modern, clean and very comfortable. We had a great time in Maui and a wonderful hassle free experience renting this unit. Highly recommend!
