Had fun at Honua Kai. Have stayed on property several times in other units. Condo was convenient. Underground parking was full every night after dinner. Had to utilize the valet. Pools were great, but if you want an umbrella you need to get downstairs early. Dukes was good as usual for breakfast/lunch. Would stay again.

We were so happy with our stay. The unit was clean and well appointed. Our daughter loved the pools. We loved the food at Duke's. If it was available, we would have gone with a two bedroom so we didn't have to fold up the pull-out to enjoy the living room. It was tough to find a space in the underground parking but the valet was super handy so we did that instead.

We had the most amazing stay at Honua Kai with Fereshteh. She was very communicative throughout our entire stay! Especially when it came to extending our stay and how to get us setup with the resort.
The space was amazing! The room had an beautiful views of the grounds right outside our window. It’s a beautiful way to wake up in the morning with 6 large windows from wall to wall in the living area. The pool was the best part for our son who’s 7 years old! Duke’s restaurant is right downstairs near the pool.
We’ll be staying with her again on our next visit back to see mom. Thank you for everything, Fereshteh!

The bed and pull out sofa were comfortable.
Bathroom is big and nice.

The dryer takes forever to dry. Never really dried a load or single items. Took hours.
The stove top is weird- takes a while to boil water
My mom felt like the rooms were all dark. Lighting is limited-
There’s lights in all rooms just pretty soft
The pools are nice, but if you don’t claim a chair by 7am you miss out
You also have to use a wrist band to check in and out pool towels. You have to return to same machine or charged $25 per towel.
Lots of dos and don’t instruction in condo
Host is very responsive. And kind. She let us check in a little early.
Overall nice place- if you’re traveling with small kids.

Our family of four had a good stay at the property for a few days after our trip got extended. The only problem was when we checked out I got a notice that they smelled smoke in the room and accuse me and my family of smoking cigarettes. They said they were going to charge me! Luckily, I was still on site, so I went up to meet the cleaning lady. They agreed that nothing smelled like smoke, but they were going to charge me if I wouldn’t have been there. I don’t like the idea of people charging for frivolous things that you cannot combat after you leave the property. Be careful of hidden charges! Also, the professionalism of the rental company was brutal. I hate cigarettes and to accuse me of smoking was ridiculous. They made me feel bad for questioning the charge.

Lovely first time vacation in Maui! Condo was accurately depicted, very clean, roomy, and well appointed. Laundry in unit was awesome. Beach toys and chairs were an added bonus. Overall enjoyed the property— beautiful, relaxed pools, patios, lobby, ample gym, and proximity to beach/boardwalk a plus many other Maui activities/ shopping nearby. Love waking or jogging the boardwalk all the way past black rock. Dukes is a nice addition to property that makes the resort feel very Hawaiian, but w/o the big, crowded resort feel. Chairs were usually available at the pool and the towel machine is well stocked and easy to use.
The negative — property is mostly tidy but still, around pool there was often small bits of garbage, weeds, and dishes from poolside orders were a little stacked up by people. Parking under ground is fair, kinda packed some nights. I’ve machine was just for coolers. Given that mainland flights arrive early I wish check-in could have been earlier. Our unit was great & property manager very responsive but we did have to complain a neighbor was smoking and the odor permeated our space. The manager did seek source. Highly recommend a visit to Makena Beach for rock free waves. Bring back wonderful sushi/ ready to bbq meals from Safeway or Foodland or the Maui fish market. Food trucks in lot are so-so & kinda pricey. Dukes is a nice treat along with many places in Lahaina. Do take the road to Hana and purchase the Gypsy Guide app to continuously guide you while driving. For total geographical changes drive through the rain forests or journey up to the amazing volcano summit. The nearby Kapalua dual zip line course is amazing. Great week, great location, and resort for a family vacation.

The condo was very comfortable for our family of 4. Loved that the condo came equipped with beach chairs, pool tools, and snorkel gear!

Had such a wonderful stay! The place is beautiful and very clean! It had everything we could ever need! We were very thankful for the play n play and we loved eating on the patio! The property is wonderful, we loved the pools that were very kid friendly. It all felt very safe as well, almost everyone wore masks inside and were spaced at the pool!

Property manager seems money hungry!! We traveled with a 1 and 4 year old which manager was aware of. We arrived 1 hour early 3 pm and were not allowed to check in before 4 as advertised and no exception was made because “cleaning was not done” yet when it was time to check out we asked if we could have late check out since our 4 year old was sick throwing up from the night before. She said her cleaners were on there way and would charge $75 if she canceled them so she could do it if we wanted to stay another night. We ended up checking out at the right time and heading to the airport. Obviously when your child gets sick it’s unexpected and since we were tending to her since the previous night we became delayed in getting all the required cleaning of the property done. While we were at the airport manager started harassing us with pictures of damp couch, 2 2 inch flat rocks kids left on floor in living room, and the sheets that were thrown up on asking why we didn’t finish cleaning. We reminded her she didn’t allow us a later check out since her cleaner was on the way and asked what she paid cleaners for in the first place her reply was we should have done cleaning night before. Again, our child was sick the night before so caring for her in a foreign place during a pandemic was the priority. Also once you use up the towels in the room you have to pay $75 to have resort bring up new ones. How ridiculous. We stayed here bc the pool looked nicest for kids even though it was $300 more than other places we saw with high ratings and 2 rooms, but you can stay at the adjacent resort and you still have access to these pools. Management was nice about canceling our first reservation so we could get better cash back on a diff card but I haven’t seen a refund yet on my original form of payment so now am dealing with two overpriced charges plus the precious linen we weren’t given time to clean. Sorry not sorry don’t recommend staying here you can deff get more bang for your buck elsewhere.

This is our second time at Honua Kai and renting through VRBO. We really like the facility and the condo was great! I really appreciated the well equipped kitchen too! Fereshteh was wonderful to work with, and always responded to emails within a short time. We also like the location of Honua Kai; a little off the beaten path, but still close enough to walk to Whalers Village and restaurants. Definitely will want to rent again the next time we go to Maui!

My wife and I stayed here for a week and had an amazing time. The condo is very clean and comfortable and is furnished with just about everything you need, from cookware to beach towels and ice chest. The beach is just out the front of the resort and Lahaina is a 10 minute drive. We will definitely consider this place when we return to Maui. Fereshteh was a joy to work with as well!

This was the first time my husband and I had used VRBO and would definitely try it again. We made the right choice by renting a condo from Fereshteh. She was very prompt in replying to our questions prior to our arrival and during our stay. This condo was in very good condition,well maintained and spotless upon our arrival. This resort is conveniently located close to a grocery store, a fresh fish market and a variety of restaurants. We enjoyed our daily trek along the boardwalk along the beach outside the property.It was also nice to have the option of indoor parking especially on rainy days.This condo unit is on the north side of the building so was always shaded. Next time we would like to try a sunny exposure. Fereshteh has several rental units at the resort so we already know where we will stay on our next visit to Maui.

Aloha! Here's a list of what we enjoyed about this condo and resort:
-Right next to the beach
-Convenience of walking down to the beach, back up to the condo, and then right back down to the water again - all without having to pack up a car to go somewhere else
-Fereshteh, is a great hostess!
-The condo was very clean
-Well stocked. The kitchen had all the pots, dishes, utensils, etc. that we needed to cook, plus a small ice chest and a plastic bottle to take water beach side. And there was even a one day supply of Kona coffee for the coffee maker!
-Comfortable bed
-Nice big shower
-Snorkel gear can be rented from the resort for $15/person/day and there is some decent snorkeling right there. We even saw a Sea Turtle here.
-Grocery store across the street
-Live music at Duke's for evening drinks at sunset

We're an airline family that was looking to book a last minute trip to Hawaii over Christmas to escape the Chicago cold. Much to our chagrin, the entire island of Maui (besides the Ritz) was booked...that is until we saw Fereshteh's posting for a last minute cancellation at an incredible rate. Luckily so, as she could not have been more helpful, knowledgable, and accommodating, even on such short notice. She responded very quickly and went out of her way to arrange everything in time for Christmas Eve dinner. We really appreciate it! When we arrived, the property was amazing, with everything clean and stocked for our arrival and conveniently located on the condo side of Honua Kai. The resort (which also has a hotel) is the newest in North Ka'anapali, so all the amenities are in great shape. Loved the multiple pools, Duke's restaurant, and its proximity to the beach and beach walk. Great views of the ocean and West Maui mountains too! There is also a Times supermarket (and urgent care center, to note) across the street which was also incredibly convenient since we didn't have a car some days. Although Honua Kai is a bit north of the other Ka'anapali resorts, we didn't mind the walk or shuttle to Whaler's Village for shopping, food, and buses to Lahaina (or a $20 cab). There were also a lot of activities advertised at the resort (i.e. sunrise/sunset cruises, whale watches, SNUBA/SCUBA trips, snorkling, paddleboard rentals, etc.). We highly recommend renting from Fereshteh and can't wait to return!

This was our 3rd visit to the Honua Kai and 2nd using VRBO. It was definitely our best visit! The owner, Fereshteh, was quick to respond to our reservation request and answered all questions. The condo has the best view, in my opinion, because you have a beautiful park view and a peekaboo ocean view and the condo properties adjacent to the Honua Kai are so far in the distance you feel you have absolute privacy. The condo itself was extremely clean and well stocked with the basics (toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, etc.) so we didn't feel the rush to run out and get the necessary items right away. The bed was very comfortable which was also very important to me. I can't wait to stay here again. The resort itself is one of the most beautiful I've seen. With so many choices of pools and the option to be right on the beach. Thank you Fereshteh for such a lovely visit. See you next time!

We really enjoyed Maui and the unit at Honua Kai Resort. While this unit doesn't have a water view, it does overlook the park that provides lots of entertainment for those off beach hours. Also, this unit never has direct sunlight pouring in so it never gets too hot. The unit is well equipped and anything you can't find can be found across the street at the strip mall. Try Java Jazz for breakfast or dinner, lots of funky décor and great food.
The complex is wonderful and suited ideally for Families with children as well as an adult retreat. The beach is terrific, lots of good snorkeling right out the door and paddleboards and Kayaks to rent.
Definitely would book again.
