There were 4 couples who stayed at this beautifully appointed home. We had seen the pictures, but actually BEING right on the beach was spectacular. Evenings on the wide lanai were so pleasant. The house met all our expectations with the exception of AC in the living areas. But we weee grateful for the AC in each downstairs bedroom. One couple came home after dinner the final night to the smell of gasoline all around the vehicle. A stick or something had punctured the gas tank. The next morning they had to deal with rescheduling their flight home and arranging for a car. Management was gracious and allowed them to remain at the house well after checkout time. We experienced the true meaning of Aloha.

The home was amazing. The property was even better... the views the best! You don't even have to leave the house- Baby Beach was perfect, the snorkeling there was incredible: sea turtles everyday, dolphins, seals: oh my! I will go back as many times as I can!

Without a doubt, Hale Ohana is the best vacation rental on Kauai. This home has every feature that a family could possibly want or need to make their vacation the absolute best. every bedroom has its own bathroom and its own lanai. The family lanai overlooks the ocean and is a great place for the family to enjoy meals and just lounging around. The beach is great for kids, The kitchen has everything that a kitchen should have to prepare all of your meals. There is also an outside barbeque. This is the second time our family has spent our vacation in this wonderful home. If you decide to rent this home, take some time to find 0out about the over 100 year history of the family that ows the property.

Loved the views from the lanai! We miss it already. The layout of the home worked great for our family. We had to block off the stairs since we have little ones but they loved running around on the front lawn area! Great property!

The location of our rental could not have been more perfect! The view was incredible and the small beach out front was an absolute joy (and the sea turtle that visited every day)! Our morning walk to Living Foods coffee was a treat too. The rental had everything we needed as far as space and conveniences. A couple of issues arose while staying and were very quickly addressed by Garden Island staff. Some feedback would be that the house needs a deep cleaning (carpets, fans and cupboards) and a bit of updating. Parts of the house are "run down" from use...like some of the furniture and kitchen. I feel like the cleaning crew is likely moving through the house at warp speed to prepare for the next tenant....the amount of dirt on the broken fan blade in the twin room was plentiful (guessing the rest of the fans are similar), in the master there was a walking stick and what appeared to be used tissues behind the dresser and the final nights sleep was with a giant cockroach in our bed (we realize cockroaches are a thing in Hawaii...but crawling on you while you sleep was a bummer). Anyway, I feel like these are things that could be easily addressed if given attention and I am sure the lovely staff at Garden Islands Rentals will do just that. With a little attention given to the home this would easily be a five star experience!

The location was great and the access to the beach was a short stone's throw. The home accommodated us well but I must say that the middle bedroom going down the hallway had VERY POOR lighting. After sundown with the lights on, you still needed a flashlight.Also, one of the lamps in the living room had a wobbly (*broken) shade support. As we understand the cabinets will be upgraded on our return in 2024.

Just want you to know that I sent this in when you first sent the link out. Not sure why it did not go through. We have stayed at this house for 4 years now. Location, house and deck are wonderful. It is very clean and the kitchen has everything you will need. The problem we had this time was with Garden Island Rental Company. I never received the directions and house code to get in the house. On Friday, still not having received anything, I sent an email asking for the house code. Saturday AM I still had not heard anything. I called 2 times and sent 2-3 emails. I still never heard anything back. We arrived with a crying 3 year old who needed a nap but could not enter the house. After waiting awhile we started to look for other places to stay for the night- there were 8 and we were not happy looking for other places. At this point my friend remembered she had an email from last year. We tried the code and it worked. I never heard anything back from anyone until Monday morning. There was no mention of us having a hard time getting in, no explanation that we did not receive directions and NO mention of why there was no one from Friday - Sunday to answer my calls/emails. What happens in case of emergency. I will say that we all were very frustrated by this experience. It is hard to believe that there is a rental company without emergency contact for off hours. I have been home for 2 weeks now and have still not heard anything from company....

The house was more in every way than we expected. The location right on the water was so relaxing and beautiful it took our breath away. The house was also clean and well stocked with essentials. Every bedroom had access to the wonderful covered porch that wrapped around 3/4ths of the house. We also loved having our own little beach so close to the house. All in all, we can’t recommend this house enough.

Ive stayed at the Hale Ohana (as well as the other houses) numerous times, and always always come home feeling wonderful. The houses are immaculate, bright and cheery, they sit right on the beach so the kids (and Grandkids) can just roll out of bed and into the water (pretty much!). The management company has kept the houses fantastically and the cleaners do an excellent job! Hands down the ONLY place we will stay when we come to beautiful Kauai !!

First off, the cleaning was the best I've seen since Covid! I can even tell they sanitized the refrigerator and when we were vacating, they were carrying in replacement pillows! The AC in the bedrooms definitely made our stay comfortable but all our time was spent on the lanai soaking in the scenery. The sunsets were fabulous. We even had a view of the spouting horn! I also loved being on the beach so we could access at our leisure. Garden Island was quick to respond and checked on us throughout our stay. Definitely customer friendly and would book with them in the future.

This is a beautiful & enjoyable property. But considering the rent we paid there were several maintenance & management problems. 1. Some switch plates & plug covers were cracked & broken. 2. Stairs were dusty/dirty on arrival 3. Non working plug in bedroom next to great room 4. Limited beach chairs for # of people house holds (party of 10, 3 chairs) 5. No working umbrellas. 6. No access to garage since rekeyed so no coolers & other beach equip we had in previous stays & was advertised on the web site 7. Upstairs shade broken so won’t crank up or down. 8. Changed door key system from key lock to electronic pad but failed to notify us before arrival so had to call management & wait for callback to get into house.Printed info to get in wasn’t updated 9. Plants surrounding lani are way overgrown & block much of ocean view except narrow part in center

The home was a great base for our activities on Kauai. It was conveniently located to all south-side restaurants, beaches, golf and tourist locales. The house was well stocked with towels, beach toys, and kitchen items. It was warm during our stay so the extra fans were put to use - although 2 ceiling fans on the lanai would have helped.

We have stayed in this beautiful home several times and it never disappoints! First, you can't beat the view. Not only does the lanai have a fantastic ocean view, but all of the bedrooms also have ocean views. The kitchen is very well stocked and has everything you need to cook your delicious Hawaiian meals. All of the bedrooms are comfortable and well appointed. Great laundry room. You can spend hours on the lanai watching the ocean and experiencing the incredible sunsets. You won't regret staying in this magnificent home!

The kitchen is well equipped and living areas are very comfortable. The lanai is the place to be! You can’t beat the view...from sun up to sun down, the scenery is ever changing and mesmerizing. This home exceeded expectations. The privacy, quiet and views are incredible. The home was perfect for all 8 of us including 2 mother in laws. The ac units in each bedroom helped us all sleep like babies. BBQ’s on the back deck and family meetings on the lanai listening to the waves crash will be memories we will always remember. The home is well stocked with everything you need to cook and clean up after yourselves. We loved the beach chairs, snorkel gear & beach towels. Communication with GIR was excellent and I plan on booking this spot again in the future. Thank you for hosting such an amazing experience!

We absolutely loved this house! The covered porch was where we spent most our time, when we were on a beach or adventure. The sunsets were beautiful and the sound of the ocean was so serene! I appreciated the well stocked ammentities, including kitchen tools and dishes, beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas and snorkeling gear. Although this house is in a neighborhood, it is totally private when you are on the property. The only small disappointment for us was the lack of swimming area on baby beach. This beach is perfect for families with toddles and small children. However, our group really likes swimming, snorkeling and bogie boarding, so the water here is too shallow for those activities. The good news is, this place is less than 5 minutes from Shipwreck beach and Brenneke's beach where we had a blast with those activities. We even swam with many turtles at Brenneke's beach! The location is convenient to restaurants, shopping and lots of great beaches.

The key to a great family vacation is a great house, which we got with Hale Ohana. Upon arrival, our family was ecstatic when we discovered the backyard and the spacious lanai. We took all of our meals outdoors, enjoying the scenery. I wish I could give more than five stars on the review. We can't wait to make a return trip to Kauai and stay at Hale Ohana again.

Right on Baby Beach which is a protected cove and great for splashing and snorkeling with the kids and has lots of tidepools to explore. 5 min walk to lots of shops and restaurants and a Wed farmers market. But the best feature was the back patio which overlooked the ocean and sunset — could have sat out there all day enjoying the view. Furniture was a little tired but still comfortable. House was well stocked with beach supplies and cookware.

We rented 3 houses, Hale Ohana, Kai and Mohana for a large family reunion. Fantastic location, all three right on baby beach with great views of the ocean. Shopping was an easy walk. Major resorts were also just down the road to grab a bite to eat or have fun on a beach with bigger waves.The large lanai at Hale Ohana was great for getting everyone together for happy hour or dinner. And the kitchens were well stocked so cooking was easy.Everything was clean and well supplied, even with some extras like boogie boards, beach chairs, masks and fins. We would definitely recommend theses rentals.

My siblings and I stayed here with our little ones. It was a great location. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. The only problem we had was there was no AC in the main house where we all hung out and it was very hot. We did appreciate that the rooms all had AC to sleep well. The location of the beach was great. Beware the beaches here are rocky, bring your water shoes. However, they did have boogie boards, umbrellas, sand toys for the kids and that was so helpful! The bedding and furniture need to be updated. Some of the furniture was coming apart. Also, the frig was not getting cold. We did read that we should not overload it so we put stuff in a cooler to offset that.

We were very pleased with the house and location. More importantly, the owners and staff were completely accommodating to our needs as we had to cancel and reschedule due to COVID. We will never be able to thank them enough for being so flexible with us. We would choose this place again in a heart beat.
